I finally got there without a line on a Friday night dinner. We arrived before 6PM and it was almost entirely full house. HK Style lemon ice tea was authentic but sadly no refill on ice tea. I would recommend getting the rice noodle rolls, chicken wings and baked pork chop. Service was friendly. It would definitely help if there is a remote Yelp waitlist available. As for the taste, it wasn't bad, but don't expect the traditional Hong Kong café (HK café) flavor. The stir-fried beef ho fun was bland. Although the noodles were fresh, the dish lacked color, flavor, and, most importantly, wok hei. The sizzling mixed steak came with a decent amount of meat, including both bacon, sausage, chicken and pork. However, the meats were on the salty side, and some pieces were relatively tough and dry. The black pepper sauce was also underwhelming. Lastly, the baked pork chop spaghetti tasted okay. The presentation was nice, and the pork chop was cooked just right in terms of tenderness. However, the flavor was quite different from the traditional HK café style. As for the beverages, the HK milk tea was okay--not the best, but not the worst either. The addition of grass jelly balls to the milk tea was certainly an interesting idea. There was a small line outside for people to get a dinner table. Fortunately we were able to get a table right away. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was small but everything looked really clean. They have a huge menu that you can scan a QR code from and order from your phone. Lots of options that offer different types of protein. The food came out one at a time. The food itself was very flavorful and fresh. Tasted very savory. Portion size and prices were right on. Definitely get your money's worth. I came here with a friend for lunch and we had a good time! We got here on a Thursday at around 1, and only had to wait 10 minutes before getting seated. Inside has lots of tables and was nicely decorated with a light green theme. The food came relatively fast, we ordered with the QR code by the side of our table. The food, however, was just fine. Now I know why this place is so popular! Luckily we didn't have to wait too long as we came near the end of lunch service. There's a yelp waitlist and when you get to the table - you order with your phone. Very easy peasy... We started off with drinks. Middle got the Grass Jelly Mega Ball Milk Tea that she LOVED and yes - they were MEGA Grass Jelly balls. Milk tea was milk tea but the grass jelly balls really provided the extra unique flavor! I LOVE anything salted egg and unfortunately this one didn't crisp up so it was really a crispy fried chicken wing. And the salted egg yolk was a bit muted. I typically love the salted egg yolk fried pumpkin at XLB and was thinking something like that but on chicken but unfortunately it was good but not a wow! We also got the Uncle Omurice with Unagi. I think next time we will order the Ultimate Cheesy Tamago Bowl with Eel & Beef. We saw another table order that and it looked amazing. I stopped by here on Memorial Day seven minutes before doors opened and happened to time the line right before it grew five times in size. If you're not seated in first seating, you'll definitely be waiting a few hours to get your food. Between our party, we shared a bunch of different items. Although social media has been hyping up Uncle Cha non-stop, the food fell short on multiple fronts. The item I was personally most excited about trying was the pineapple bun with pork and chicken cutlet. Like another reviewer pointed out, many in my party did not enjoy the texture of the pineapple bun. The expectation was that the pineapple bun would be soft and fluffy but it was far too crispy, and tasted almost a bit too dry, or possibly stale. The meat inside was cooked well, and I liked the honey mustard in one of the buns, but the bun itself was a miss. For the sizzling pepper beef over spaghetti, the dish was too salty, had too much cornstarch added, and was not peppery enough. With the unagi plate with tornado egg, the egg was silky, glistening, and very pretty to look at atop of the mount of rice, but there was simply not enough of it. The unagi was fine, but tasted no different than the ones you pick-up next door from the freezer section at Ranch 99 and re-heat in an oven. Lastly, for the baked pork chop, there was not enough tomato flavor in the sauce. Finally checked out Uncle Cha Fusion Cafe! I've been seeing all the hype online and hearing about the crazy lines, so I had to see what it was all about. You definitely need to get here early because the wait gets long fast. I came before they opened and was able to get seated immediately when they opened. The menu has a lot of fun, unique HK cafe-style dishes. For my own meal, the standouts were definitely the baked pork chop rice and the HK toast (the milk puff). The baked rice hit the perfect comfort food spot, and the toast was delicious. However, I also tried the pineapple bun with salted egg yolk and pork floss, and it was unfortunately pretty dry. I'd probably skip that one next time. Overall, it's a really solid spot with great flavors! That said, while the food is good, I personally wouldn't wait longer than an hour to eat here. Always a line, to cut corners, I tried DoorDash. But even when the order was placed in at 11:30, we waited till 1pm to get our food. So be warned! The food came nicely packaged! The drink sealed in tape and placed in a nice paper bag, the food was in a plastic bowl and the whole order was placed inside a plastic bag. We placed a group order but each of our order was clearly labeled with our name and items typed on tickets. We don't have to find our items from a massive amount of food like other vendors, which I'm happy with the convenience. I ordered a French Lemon Latte, it's ok. When I got the order, the brown coffee was floating at the top and the bottom was cream white. But once I poked the straw in, the white cream floats up and the drink looks murky. There's one piece of lemon at the bottom of the cup, so not very strong lemon flavor. Onto the food, the Ultimate Cheesy Tamago Bowl with Eel & Beef that I ordered was very good. Each element is neatly layered on top of each other, the take out did not mess it up. At the bottom is the white rice, then on top of the rice there are the sliced beef with sliced onions soaking in the teriyaki sauce. The second to top layer is a brick of Japanese style tomago egg and a thin layer of cheese. Lastly, there's a piece of teriyaki eel on the very top sealing off the bowl. The portion was sumptuous, and the teriyaki sauce carries the dish through. There aren't too many tables inside, and the tables are pretty close together in an effort to get more people in. There are a lot of workers always on standby to check in and make sure that you have everything you need. The food is where it fell a bit short. We ordered a variety of things, from the pineapple buns to the baked rice to rice rolls to Singapore-style curry noodles. While the food presentation was great, the taste didn't hit the same as other HK-style cafes. It wasn't terrible, but it also didn't stand out. The pineapple buns were the most disappointing -- crispy and crunchy rather than fluffy and flaky. The drinks, however, were pretty solid. The curry fish balls were okay and I didn't think it was anything special. The pineapple buns were interesting with the pork floss combo but I didn't really enjoy it. The fried noodles were decent but it wasn't that much. The pork chop was tasty and the rice with the sauce was good. The french toast was just fun to eat but nothing special. We got the Seafood Spaghetti, Yang Zhou fried rice, Rice and Eel and Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken wings. Let's start with the good: - Rice omelet and eel was pretty good. We all liked the eel as it was flavorful and omelet was cooked right. - Yang Zhou fried rice was also pretty good and I love that the portion is big for the 3 of us. The creamy was there, but it was missing flavor. I usually prefer saltier food, but even my friends who eat pretty bland (no shade), they said it was really bland. However, if you just wait in front of the restaurant instead of walking around the plaza, they typically seat you first. The sizzling satay beef fried instant noodle was a surprisingly good! It reference the typical noodle soup dish but this version add lots of crunchy noodle texture to it and it somehow tasted even more flavorful. The line finally died down so we decided to check this place out. I got the curry rice with tonkatsu, and it was super satisfying. The tonkatsu was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not greasy at all. The curry had a really nice, rich flavor--savory with a little sweetness--and went so well with the rice. We also tried the fish balls, which were actually really good. They had that classic bouncy texture and were covered in this peanut hoisin-type sauce that was slightly sweet and really flavorful. The baked seafood spaghetti was probably one of my favorites. It came out hot with that cheesy, baked top layer, and underneath was creamy and packed with flavor. Definitely that classic HK café comfort dish. We also got a vegetable dish on the side, which was fresh and simple--nice to have something lighter with all the richer food. I am genuinely shocked at some of the reviews and their reasonings behind their scoring system... Regardless, I'm happy to say my experiences were top tier and that's because my friend and I strategized and executed our plan to ensure we had great experiences every time. We dined in our second time yesterday morning. The staff was quick as per usual and so attentive. The food came out as they should in a timely manner. Yea some things may not come out perfect but the taste overall won me over. Some dishes may not have had the best presentation but I honestly think that's fine. As long as they taste good and trust me they do. I may not know the real authenticity of HK dishes, however after trying the items here even if they are fusion, it makes me excited to find out how the real real HK style cooking is. I take this as an opportunity to excite my future taste buds because the mere fact that my girl friend and I came twice, to me speaks volume. The one thing I will say food wise, the absolute banger dishes are their stir fry veggies. We had two different ones when we ordered, but WholeyMoleyyy. Rating 10/10! I love HK style food and glad there's finally one in south bay! Growing up from San Francisco, hong kong style food was a staple. Unfortunately most of the good stores closed down now but Uncle Cha is pretty good. Baked pork chop rice is one of my go to meals. Taste wise, it was delicious, however as I lifted the pork chop to reveal where the rice was, I felt that there was not enough tomato sauce to mix in with the rice. The star of the show to me was the HK milk style puff. Although very sweet, it was deliciously paired between the condescend milk and toast especially when coming out fresh! All three entree items were delicious as well with good consistency the both times I've come here. The main problem I have is the wait. Both times I've come here, I've waited for at least an hour (even on a rainy weekday evening). The space inside isn't the biggest so expect to wait. When I've signed up on the waiting list before, it did not accurately tell me my place in line so I ended up having to wait by the door side. If Uncle Cha developed a more systematic or quicker way to have people in and out, i would definitely come here more often Service is pleasant and relatively quick to get your food out. I had high hopes but it was honestly disappointing. Came at 9 PM and still had to wait a bit (not an issue and did not affect my score). Wait staff was attentive and responsive First thing, I'm complaining just to complain, this has nothing to do with anything, but I don't like it when restaurants play covers of songs instead of the original song. I don't wanna listen to a cover version of a Weeknd song, why not just listen The Weeknd sing it??? That might just be the bad food experience talking though. Anyways, I ordered the sizzling satay beef with instant noodles. It definitely needed more sauce/salt because it was pretty bland and dry. It honestly felt like a chore getting through the plate and it was not enjoyable. For about $20 after tax and tip, I was pretty disappointed I'd give this dish a 5/10, perfectly mid. No wait for my party of 3 on a Wednesday early evening. Order via scanning QR code. Food came out pretty quickly. We shared the grass jelly mega ball milk tea, signature sizzling cheese chicken burger, HK style baked combo chop spaghetti, chicken & pork cutlet pineapple bun, and beef udon with tomato curry. Loved the grass jelly mega ball milk tea! Milk tea is definitely on sweeter side. The signature sizzling cheese chicken burger was a skip from me, the sizzling cheese didn't add much to the dish other than the presentation. The cheese didn't really stick to the burger, and the buns ended up getting stuck to the sizzling plate, and it was overall messy. My favorite dish was probably the HK style baked combo chop spaghetti! The spaghetti was really flavorful and strong in garlic taste. Chicken & pork cutlet pineapple bun was decent but nothing too special in my opinion. Beef udon with tomato curry was solid, the udon was slippery and the dish was hearty. Overall glad I tried once. Fun experience with cool presentation. If I return, I'd like to try more of the baked dishes. read more

Uncle Cha is one of those new hype cafes with giant grass jelly balls acting like giant boba milk teas, got the pineapple bun burgers, and some other specialty drinks that are more of a new wave, while keeping some of the basic baked dishes. As a HK style cafe, the menu is quite limited IMHO. I think it's still relatively new, or social media is doing its job, expect a long line before seating. We got there before opening and there was a line waiting to go in, we were lucky enough to be part of wave 1. Ordering is through a QR code, you can all scan and it'll go onto the same bill. I ended up ordering a black peppered brisket baked rice. It was good, a bit heavy/salty for what I was hoping for, they added more sauce than I would prefer. It was enough for two meals. I had to add extra rice with my leftovers for meal 2 just to balance out the flavors. I did order their garlic pea sprouts after seeing the neighboring table's order. It's a whole mountain full of veg on the plate. Cooked to the right tenderness, I enjoyed it more than I should, and this was a surprise for a HK style cafe. With the baked rice and the pea sprouts, I could not even think about ordering the pineapple bun burgers and too late in the day for me to try their milk tea. Maybe another time. read more

I've been curious about this spot for a while due to the lines and do think that it lives up to the hype! Joined the waitlist on a Friday at 5:30 with a party of 3, and got seated around 6:15. I tried the Uncle omurice with unagi, soybean sprouts with garlic, beef pad krapow. Enjoyed all of the dishes, especially the omurice-the sauce was delicious and the egg was so soft. The grass jelly mega ball milk tea was also a fun try and felt very novel.
