Finally got around to trying Pho Kim Long after hearing about it for a while. I stopped by for lunch with a coworker and the restaurant was really packed and lively, but luckily a party had just finished so we were seated quickly. The waitresses and waiters were attentive and brought us menus and water right away. I ordered the #1 combo pho and overall really enjoyed it. The broth was flavorful without being overly rich or oily like I expected after reading some reviews. I also appreciated that the broth wasn't too sweet, which seems to be the trend at a lot of pho spots lately. I'd give the pho a 3.5/5 overall. The main downside for me was that the noodles were a little overcooked and softer than I personally prefer, but the broth itself was quite good and definitely the highlight of the meal. I brought my mom to eat here this time. I got the grilled fish and BBQ pork with vermicelli noodles (serves 2). I saw someone eating that last time and wanted to try it this time. It did not disappoint. I really enjoyed it. You get all the ingredients to wrap your own wrap like a spring roll. I enjoyed the meal. My mom likes it too. This restaurant has been serving the San Jose area forever. They are known for their bun cha, which, in my opinion, is better than what you get in the famous restaurant that served president Obama. I have been a hater of Pho Kim Long for the longest time because I do not like their pho or any of the noodle soup dishes. I am picky and their noodles are just way too overcooked for my liking and their broth is mid. However, all their other dishes that are not noodle soup are amazing! I usually for the bun cha Hanoi. The savory yet sweet fish sauce with charred grilled pork belly and that big piece of bouncy meatball is so delicious! Their cha ca va long is tasty too, they don't skimp on the herbs and peanuts which is a must for this dish. I recently got to tried their pho ap chao (with crispy blocked noodles) and I think I will add that to my rotation of dishes to order from here. A solid choice if looking for a comforting meal of pho in the winters. I liked their chicken pho so much that I dined here thrice in a month, thanks to the cold winter evenings. They have a plenty of tables for dine-in and I was honestly surprised that the tables were completely occupied on a Thursday evening. It seems to have been around for years but I was only recently introduced to it. It has now become one of my fav pho places in Milpitas. Their service is quick, staff is nice and the quality and taste of dishes is consistent. I tried their chicken pho and would recommend it. The broth had the right amount of flavor and the texture of the noodles was good. The size is pretty good too. I also tried one of their rice plates with bbq pork, but I liked the pho more than the rice plate. The pork was cooked well but quantity was less. It is so fresh and they really have the flavor down - I've tried catfish spring rolls at other restaurants but they can't even compare to the ones here. My family decided to come here on a Monday for lunch. This is the best pho to dine from the East Bay. There was no line or wait at all. The waitress seated us right away. Since I am on a calorie deficit, I ordered their Kids' size Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) and Goi Cuon (Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls). Both had a good amount of protein. The broth was flavorful, and the chicken was soft. I don't recommend squeezing too much lemon juice on the Pho because it will burn your throat for two days. I would add Hoisin and Sriracha mix, including a bit of basil and more bean sprouts. Goi Cuon was alright. I didn't enjoy the pork part since it was a bit dry, yet the peanut sauce was thick and not too salty. It took me a while to realize they renovated the restaurant with spacious booths since our last visit a decade ago. Our food arrived in under 15 minutes. They clean the tables right away after each customer leaves. You must go to the cash register to pay rather than ask a waitress to hand you the bill. Expect less parking to be available in the plaza on Friday afternoons and weekends. read more

My friends talked about Pho Kim Long for years, saying it's the best hangover and non-hangover pho ever, and it's taken me 5+ years living in South Bay to finally try it. We ordered a small pho tai chin (always my go-to anywhere) and the grilled fish & pork with herbs. The pho broth was sooooo flavorful and there was a good portion of meat. Personally I liked their rare beef better than their brisket, so I'll probably stick to the pho tai next time I come. The grilled fish & herbs comes on a sizzling plate with onions and other aromatics, as well as a huge plate of fresh veggies like lettuce, mint, thai basil, and cilantro. They also give you spring roll wrappers, vermicelli, 2 kinds of dipping sauces, and a crispy black sesame puff(?) that adds a nice crunch to your spring rolls. I REALLY loved this dish since everything was super fresh and you could choose what ingredients you'd like to add to your own roll. Both the grilled fish and marinated pork were well marinated, and there was a lot of protein considering the price point. Definitely worth it, and I think you can even share amongst 3 people. Service was fast and efficient, considering how packed the entire restaurant was. Parking can get a bit tough, considering there are other establishments in the same strip mall that were also busy. I have a hard time finding it at any other vietnamese restaurants. The spring rolls come with tumeric fish, dill, vermicelli, peanuts, cucumber, lettuce and some other springs mix. I crave this dish randomly its so good!! I will say the pho is pretty average and depending on who the server is... you might not get the best service. What really stood out, though, was the Vietnamese coffee. Strong, sweet, and incredibly smooth--it was easily one of the best I've had. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that both my partner and I had a bit of a stomach ache afterward. Not sure what caused it, but it did dampen the experience a little. I remember pre-covid this place was extremely fast and efficient, the pho was good but nothing to write about. My first time at this place (around 2018) I remember how I asked for a table for 2 and the woman asked me if it's okay to share a table with another couple that was in front of us that we didn't know. We politely asked for our own table and unfortunately made a rude remark. I'm glad I still kept going back: The person who was a rude isn't there anymore and the service has improved greatly, while the food just got better and better while the speed did not change one bit. They also updated the looks too and it's now so warm and bright inside! I do wish the parking was a bit better but that's out of the scope of this review. read more
