Tried coming here on a weekend once and it was packed so I went on a weekday instead. The interior is kind of odd; there are very bright colors. The service is quick and the food took a bit to come out. The duck is very fatty and they give a decent amount too. The skin is crispy and the duck is soft. For about $17, it's not a bad lunch.

We were planning to visit another restaurant in the plaza but decided to eat here after seeing how popular it was. We came right before 12 on a Saturday, so we expected the wait but we actually got a table after 20 min of waiting. We ordered the HK styled soy sauce xu one, crispy roasted duck, suan cai yu and togo'd a braised beef brisket with radish to take home. Everything was delicious! My boyfriend really liked the soy sauce chicken and said the meat was juicy. I personally really liked the crispy roasted duck! Overall, food was great but the wait for food once we sat down took awhile.

It's always busy whenever I pass by and it was no different when I went on a weekday night! They basically have two menus in one - Jin Gege focuses on Hong Kong style BBQ (like roasted pork belly, duck, soy sauce chicken) while Yao Yao is Sichuan with dishes like spicy boiled fish and beef. You order off a tablet, and they also serve free hot tea, which is always a win. We mostly stuck to the BBQ side and tried the rice plates. The 2-meat rice plate was $17, and the salt baked chicken plate was $15, which felt pretty reasonable. The Macau roasted pork belly was my favorite - tender, crispy, and not dry at all The chicken was also nice and tender. The duck was okay but a bit bony and could've had more meat. We also tried the duck noodle soup. The noodles and soup on their own were pretty bland, so it's better to pour the duck and maybe the sauce into the soup. The duck by itself was a bit too salty, but combined it worked better. For appetizers, we got the deep fried shrimp rolls and they were sooo good. I'm a big fan of pig ear, so I had to try it here! The flavor was good, but the numbing spice was intense. I've never had it that strong before like my mouth felt crazyyy. For dessert, we got the Chengdu oolong jelly and milk custard with fresh mango. The oolong jelly was light and refreshing, but I liked the mango milk custard even more!

First time trying this place. It's bright, spacious and clean inside. Once you sit down, they gave you a tablet to order. Then everything gets confusing on the tablet menu. It's not organized by food categories combined by Jingege and YaoYao. It's by two different places - "Jingege" and "YaoYao". They each have their own menu and food category. For example: we wanted chicken wings. Found one chicken wing dish under "Appetizer" in one menu and another different chicken wing dish under "Main Entree" under another menu. It's very hard to find items back and forth switching between two names. That led us ordered the wrong dish. Also, the menu on the window shows that they have Iced Fruit Tea, however, it is not shown in the tablet menu. I even asked a waiter to help and he couldn't find it in the tablet either, so it wasn't available to order. There is some discrepancy between the menus they stick to the window outside vs. the menu in the tablet once you actually sat down. In addition,, the tablet menu inside has a lot of dishes than the menus they display on the window (to show people outside). Besides the confusing menu, the food is decent. - Roasted duck: Delicious with crispy skin. - The XO sauce rice rolls (cheung fun): rice rolls are soft with tasty XO sauce. - Crispy chicken wings: crispy and good, but we were hoping to order the salt & pepper chicken wings originally if not because of the confusing menu. - Minced pork with egg plant clay pot: tasty but super greasy. - Crispy tofu with soy sauce: Taste much better than they look. Crispy outside and soft inside. - Salted fish with chicken fried rice: ok, not enough salted fish flavor. It's kinda bland. Food portion is good in general and everything comes out piping hot.

I looove the soy sauce chicken here. Like... wow. The sauce is so good I honestly feel like I could drink it lol. The chicken comes out with that perfectly glistening skin that's coated in the most flavorful soy-based sauce. Every bite is juicy and tender, and what really surprised me was how soft the breast meat was too. Usually breast meat can be dry, but here it's incredibly tender and full of flavor. Another must-order for me is their mini fried tofu. These little bites are so delightful -- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and totally addicting. I kept reaching for "just one more." Everything tasted super fresh and comforting. This is definitely one of those places I'll keep coming back to whenever I'm craving really good soy sauce chicken.

BBQ combo for lunch with the BBQ pork and roast duck. The roast duck is good, flavorful and even tastier with the sauce. The amount of food could feed me for 2 meals. I heard they were first opened in San Leandro, signature dishes are the HK style BBQ. But personally I'm not a fan of their BBQ, thick cut meat, no problem, a bit too burned on the top is my complaint. Love the soy beans that came with, so flavorful when soaked into the BBQ soy sauce. The veggie choy sum are also cooked in some soy sauce, making it a great complement to the white rice. Their drinks are made from T4.

Swarms of Asian aunties can't be wrong! This restaurant serves some of the best Cantonese/HK style barbecue you will ever eat. The Peking duck features crisp skin, juicy meat, and all the accoutrements (and a very generous number of thin pancakes, which I appreciate because many places only give you a few). If you order this, please do yourself a favor and get the duck bones in the salt and pepper format instead of the soup. This preparation is not offered everywhere, and their version is excellent and probably the best bite of this meal. The only qualm I have is that the food is not served hot. I know that the style of barbecue is often served at room temperature or just slightly warm, but it cooled down so fast that it was hard for me to eat, and so I took most of it home. (That might not bother others, but I have such a weird finicky thing about temperature and don't like to eat anything oily, greasy, or fatty below a certain temperature because the texture bothers me. YMMV. The duck bones were served freshly fried and crispy, though.) Also, the tea, which is I know is supposed to be served hot, was sadly not. A little toaster oven and air fryer time made for a delicious dinner and leftovers the next day

Heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try. The decor is modern and bright. You can see all the BBQ meats on display as soon as you enter the restaurant. The three of us ordered the Yaoyao Combo with Sliced Beef in Hot Chili Oil and Boiling Fish, their Signature Stone Pot Spare Ribs Rice, and Build Your Own Duo BBQ Platter with Golden Char Siu and Soy Sauce Chicken. The Yaoyao Combo was huge and quite flavorful. The Signature Stone Pot Spare Ribs Rice was very tasty. The BBQ platter was good but the taste was not quite Hong Kong style. All in all everything was decent and portions were very generous. Service was good and staff seemed pleasant and friendly. Prices were very reasonable and affordable.

New restaurant in this busy plaza. They don't have a display for their name but called jingege and yaoyao. 2 types of cuisine in one! Hong Kong (jingege) and Sichuan (yaoyao) dishes. Bright and vibrant setting inside and can see the Chinese BBQ right when you walk in. Ordered via iPad and had quick service. Started off with the golden soup pickled fish. Pretty big bowl with lots of fish and a small batch of noodles in the middle. Tasty soup with some slight sour flavor. On to the HK style dishes. We got the combo BBQ dishes which had roasted duck, chicken, and golden char siu. All the meats were high quality, tender, and tasted fresh. But they were all on the salty side and needed rice to help with the saltiness. The roasted duck had a crispy skin but was drenched in sauce for too long making it salty. Chicken was soft and wasn't dry. Char siu didn't have that sweet glaze flavor you typically get from a traditional HK place. Wonton soup was very average and almost plain. Didn't have that clear broth. Sweet and sour pork was delicious. Crispy pork and tangy.

My favorite restaurant of all time! The menu is endless with so many delicious options from their BBQ section to their sour pickled fish soup dishes! The best authentic Chinese food I have had in a while! The service is also fast and efficient! The servers give you tea/water to start and an iPad to look at what is on the menu! Bonus points for having photos of each food option!! Inside is super colorful with chairs, tables, and booths. Sour Pickled Fish Soup (5/5): perfect amount of seasoning, fish texture is so bouncy Crispy Tofu (5/5): comes out hot and crispy, light seasoning

So many options to choose from but it seems like they are most known for their roasted bird options which you can always see hanging in the front of the store. We tried a variety of meats and all were really tasty and juicy. Each had a lot of flavor and it paired very well with the scalloped fried rice and a leafy green. Def will return to try other dishes.

Came by today for our second visit to try some more dishes and all were great again! We got the char siu and roasted pork belly again and I was glad that the char siu was less salty this time. The roasted pork belly was still really salty but both meats were very soft and tender as before. My partner tried the soy sauce chicken and he said it was very juicy and a nice break from the other meats since it was the least salty. The crispy tofu was super light and had an almost silken tofu texture inside. My partner thought it was a bit bland but I personally thought it was great since everything else is pretty strong in flavor. The star of today was definitely the green beans. They were crispy and had a great meaty flavor with the minced pork.

A restaurant that serves both Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine. What an interesting concept! We don't have many places that specialize in Cantonese style barbecue in the neighborhood, so my husband and I were pretty excited to try. The design of this restaurant seems more like a chain rather than a mom and pop shop, but I'm not complaining. The restaurant seems relatively clean, the teal/red color contrast is fun, and the menu is extensive. It has the vibes of a no-frills diner where service is quick and to the point. The patrons can also get loud (a little too loud for my liking during my visit). On our first visit, we had to try the some of the barbecue. We both ordered the barbecue rice plate with our choice of two meats. My husband got the char siu and roasted pork belly while I got the soy sauce chicken and roasted duck duck. I thought the flavors of all the meats were delicious, though I thought the meat was pretty skimpy on the roasted duck and soy sauce chicken. My husband said the seasoning of the char siu tasted more Chinese style rather than authentic Hong Kong style. The roasted pork belly had nice flavor and good crunch. I also ordered the dumplings and enjoyed it. The dumplings were juicy and the savory broth had a prominent white pepper kick. Overall, I enjoyed the food on our first visit here and would like to come back to try more of their menu, especially the Sichuan dishes.

The sea bass itself didn't taste very fresh, and the texture was way too soft in a bad way. Wrapping it in banana leaf made the dish look fancy, but it honestly felt like presentation was doing all the work instead of the actual cooking quality. Even the herbs and chili on top couldn't save it. Definitely one of those dishes that looks amazing in photos but tastes painfully average in real life. What made it even funnier was noticing some of the plates had small cracks on them. Like seriously? You're charging these prices and still serving customers with cracked plates?

The flavor is comforting and well-balanced without being overly salty, and the texture is smooth and satisfying. I highly recommend pairing it with their dough stick (youtiao). Another standout for me is the steamed spareribs with black bean and taro. The spareribs are tender and flavorful, and the black bean sauce adds a savory depth without overpowering the dish. Service continues to be efficient and well-organized, even when busy. One thing I noticed is that the restaurant is especially popular with elderly customers, which honestly says a lot about the food being comforting, traditional, and consistent. I actually like this better as I don't feel rush to order and gives me the chance to look through the menu without feeling rush to order. Iced water was brought out instantly. We ordered the following: 1. Lamb skewer, spicy: you can smell the intensity of the spice when the dish was brought out from the chili powder. The meat is moist and grilled well w/ a nice crisp. There is no gamey smell. I took a first bite but the chili powder slightly burned my gums. Had to ask Hubby to shake some of the chili poweder off the skewers for me. Its a messy dish but very tasty. 2. Spicy beef soup w/ wide noodles: Noodles are HUGE! About 1.5 inches wide and forever long. I had to use the scissors to cut it up. Noodles are good. Chewey texture just as I like it. Comes with a whole egg and beef. The broth has a nice spice to it and unlike other spicy noodle soup I've tried, it does not taste oily or overwhelmed with spices esp Sze Chuan chilis. It had a good balace of savory and spiciness. 3. Wide noodles w/ braised chicken: This dish is delish but it's a BIG dish like a whole chicken was prepared! Can feed up to 4-5 people. It's the size of a medium pizza or even a Large. The thick sauce is very flavorful but not salty. It comes with potatoes, carrots, onions, green bell peppers, and dried whole chili. Its not spicy but may be for kids as we have a high spicy tolerance. Only thing about this plate I didn't like it there's bones. We ended 2 more meals with the leftover. The noodles are hand pulled in house as we sat by the kitchen and saw the kitchen staff making it. Food comes out pretty quick and service is very good. The staff are very attentive and met our needs promptly. We definitely will return to try other plates as the menu is pretty big.
