We ordered a lot, and almost everything was fantastic. The hot and sour soup was a standout. It came in a huge bowl, and my husband loved it even though he usually doesn't like hot and sour soup. We also enjoyed the salt and pepper fish, Salty Fish Chicken with Eggplant Clay Pot, and chow fun. The menu has a great variety, and I was happy to see onion pancakes. The only dish we weren't sure about was the salt and pepper pork, which came out red, not what we expected. The woman serving us was helpful and patient. She got a little confused when we asked to split the bill, so one person paid and the rest of us sent him our shares. A cat also kept wandering into the restaurant, which was unexpected! I ordered Hunan Style Pork over Rice (and the leaf), and the portion of Pork was tiny - hardly a meal. The bowl was filled with rice. So, I basically paid $13.50 for a bowl of rice with small side of Huna Pork. I also came here at lunch time on Sunday ... and it was empty, while the adjacent restaurants had lines and long waits in this highly popular and congested strip mall (because of the huge number of Teslas charging in the back lots). My family and I have been going here for sooo many years now! It was a favorite for us and now I come here with my friends! It is a very comforting restaurant with great portions for affordable prices. The menu has extensive options, but everything is very tasty! The old man would recognize us every time we came in and his smile would light up the room! He'd memorize our order and even our go-to utensils. The staff always gives what you need. China Palace feels like a hidden gem for Chinese food, tucked in a busy plaza next to Milpitas Square. My family went here last night and the food was delicious. We ordered the hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, and a mixed vegetable dish -- all of it came out to just about $50, which is a great deal for the quality. With how tasty everything was, I'm honestly surprised the place wasn't more crowded. It definitely deserves more attention. We'll be coming back for sure. I'm taking one star off because an older staff member was loudly yelling at a customer next to us, which made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. This is a wholesome and honest review, the rudeness and attitude from the staff is apart of the reason why my boyfriend and his friends come to dine in. It's more of a comforting family style restaurant where you get scolded for taking too long to order. Service: 6/10 No matter how respectful you are, unless you speak Chinese, they will always seem like they're mad at you. This restaurant serves comfort food and is a family favorite. We have been dining here for over 15 years. The food is great and consistent, they have many options to try. The hours are great because they are open until 3:00 am. We really like all of the things we have had, but if I can encourage you to try the fried pork chop if you eat pork you won't be disappointed. Recent observation in last couple of years. The portions have been reduced as the prices have gone up. This is not a deterrent at all. They are equally good for dine in and take out. Service, this is a small restaurant who generally has one server. The server does his best to help everyone quickly. He's endearing, we come here all the time and he recognizes us now. It's become a little tradition for my husband and me to stop by here after Dave & Buster's. The restaurant is open late, rarely crowded, and serves generous portions for the price. I'm absolutely obsessed with their salted fish fried rice and the bi feng tang style frog legs. Every time I tell myself I'll try something new, but those dishes are just too good to pass up. I ordered the braised tofu and veggies which was in the lotus leaf rice plate. Next time I would just order the braised tofu veggie dish without the rice and lotus leaf. But it was tasty and yummy! I've been coming for years and they've been slowly but surely playing me worse every time. I ordered salt and pepper chicken wings, they gave me 7 wings, and it was 18.00 for the plate. I don't like to make a scene so I just took it in stride and walked away today but definitely never coming back to this place. The beef chow fun is decent also always get that. But the prices today are no longer worth the drive. I've come here since I lived in Palo Alto and was happy to, before. Prices were reasonable. But now I live across the freeway in San Jose and even this close it's no longer worth the drive. I do think they treat their eat in customers better.
