China Palace feels like a hidden gem for Chinese food, tucked in a busy plaza next to Milpitas Square. My family went here last night and the food was delicious. We ordered the hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, and a mixed vegetable dish -- all of it came out to just about $50, which is a great deal for the quality. With how tasty everything was, I'm honestly surprised the place wasn't more crowded. It definitely deserves more attention. We'll be coming back for sure. I'm taking one star off because an older staff member was loudly yelling at a customer next to us, which made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. My family and I have been going here for sooo many years now! It was a favorite for us and now I come here with my friends! It is a very comforting restaurant with great portions for affordable prices. The menu has extensive options, but everything is very tasty! This is a wholesome and honest review, the rudeness and attitude from the staff is apart of the reason why my boyfriend and his friends come to dine in. It's more of a comforting family style restaurant where you get scolded for taking too long to order. From my perspective as a first time customer, it threw me off but I understand that the old man waiter doesn't take crap from anyone! On to the food, the dishes were reasonable and good! This restaurant serves comfort food and is a family favorite. We have been dining here for over 15 years. The food is great and consistent, they have many options to try. The hours are great because they are open until 3:00 am. We really like all of the things we have had, but if I can encourage you to try the fried pork chop if you eat pork you won't be disappointed. Recent observation in last couple of years. The portions have been reduced as the prices have gone up. This is not a deterrent at all. They are equally good for dine in and take out. Service, this is a small restaurant who generally has one server. The server does his best to help everyone quickly. He's endearing, we come here all the time and he recognizes us now. It's become a little tradition for my husband and me to stop by here after Dave & Buster's. The restaurant is open late, rarely crowded, and serves generous portions for the price. I really wish the old man answering the phone wasn't so rude. If you get the lady, she is much nicer. I called in an order for pickup yesterday and asked at the end if they take Apple Pay. Cheap, fast and convenient! Needed a quick affordable meal near 99 ranch and this hit the spot. We were in and out in 45 minutes on a Saturday night. I ordered the braised tofu and veggies which was in the lotus leaf rice plate. Next time I would just order the braised tofu veggie dish without the rice and lotus leaf. But it was tasty and yummy! I've been going here for years and it's become a staple in my life when I'm craving Chinese food. This is also the place I recommend to anyone who asks where the best Chinese food is. China Palace is located in a miniature plaza with Koi Palace near the freeway with plenty of ample parking on the sides, back, and front. The Interior is kind of small, but you usually are able to still get a table. The decor isn't modern or the best, but it does the job. You can tell it's a hole-in-the-wall place when you go in. This place used to be open until 3am every day until COVID hit, then after, hours have been fluctuating, but now the new hours are until 1am on most nights (check out pic I took of their new hours as both Yelp, Google, and their website isn't the most up to date). All the workers are older Chinese where English isn't their first language, but they can still understand you and vice versa. Sometimes they are nice and sometimes they are quiet. When it comes to the food - it's DELICIOUS! Also comes out super fast sometimes which scares me, but it isn't pre-cooked as you can tell it's hot and just made. Their menu is really big and they also include items not on there with some signs on the walls. They have adventurous meats and really authentic Chinese foods such as Frog, Alligator, and more. But of course, they have many staples that most Americans love as well such as: - Honey Walnut Shrimp - Fried Rices - Chow Meins - Beef n' Broccoli - Sweet & Sour Chicken (they don't have a SS pork) - and tons more The menu has divided sections, but I see almost no point to it as the majority of their dishes are all under "specials" and the types are all over the place lol. We used to go here for late night Chinese food because it was open super late, but now we just go because we enjoy our go-to dishes here so much. It's part comfort, but also part nostalgic food when it comes to this place. Our usual go to dishes are beef chow fun, Mongolian beef, honey walnut prawns, and hot and sour soup!
