A very small place. Make sure you come early before the rush. marinated Beef rice roll: 4/5. The best rice roll they have, imo. The beef was smooth and tasty, not chewy at all. It's a bit weird to see lettuce in it, I am ok with that. The sweet soy sauce put it over the top. Shrimp rice roll: 3/5. Very typical. No surprises. Would try other rice rolls next time. Fish congee: 3.5/5. Not bad at all. No ginger and not fishy!! Extra 0.5 for that! Preserved egg and pork congee: 4/5. The pork was probably marinated the same way as the beef in the beef rice roll. It was very smooth and tasty. It's not the same as the one served at dim sum restaurants. I like both styles. Hey, I didn't feel thirsty at night. That indicates that they had very little MSG, if any.

Came here for lunch and was craving rice rolls and dim sum. Plenty of seating, clean and good service. This spot had a lot of options for cheung fun/ rice rolls. I got the shrimp and another one with the beef. The beef has steamed lettuce in it also and I liked the flavor and textures of this one more. They come with a sweet soy sauce, super good. Dim sum options were also very solid picks. Siu mai and hargow are a must get. Also got stir fried noodles. Definitely coming back

This is my go-to place for porridge and rice noodle rolls! We came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon since my coworker was feeling a little under the weather. The restaurant was a little crowded, but we were seated immediately. They have physical menus for you to view, but you order by scanning the QR code at the table. We ordered 3 different rice noodle rolls and a beef stew lo mein to share. Everything came out relatively fast with a couple of minutes in between each dish. The beef stew was flavorful and the same meat was used for the brisket rice roll. We ordered the marinated pork and beef roll as well as the marinated beef roll (which I preferred). One thing I really like about these rice rolls is that they always have some veggie inside which adds a slight crunch to your bite. To end the meal, we also got the black gold lava bun which had a runny salted egg paste inside. Everything was decently priced and the three of us became pretty full after the meal. 10/10 would come again!

Yin Ji Chang Fen is fantastic in the fact that it is no frills, fast, great value, and consistent. It can get very busy on weekend lunches while weekend dinners we've found we luck out being able to snag a table relatively quickly. Stay for the congee and the rice rolls - we have tried quite a few different options and its always a hit. The beef and raw egg is our favorite combo of creamy and savory while the shrimp and pork rice roll adds the perfect balance of sweet marinade and bouncy rice roll. Sorry, drooling. Going back now. Why not a five star? Service can be a bit impersonal and they always let finished dishes pile up by the end of the meal. If you dont mind, then this place is perfect!

We came to Yin Ji Chang Fen today for well, their Chang Fen. What's Chang Fen you ask? Rice roll with fillings in the middle oftentimes meat and vegetables cooked in a Hong Kong or Cantonese styled way. I ordered their marinated beef rice noodle roll and boy was it delicious! Compared to other dim sum places that offer rice noodle it is almost night and day. Your typical dim sum spot usually has a thicker version of rice noodle. Oftentimes steamed and may be on that steam top for hours at a time. That makes the texture of the rice noodle way too firm and oftentimes it is difficult to eat a lot of it due to the carbs stuffed in them. Not the rice roll from Yin Ji Chang Fen! Theirs are made fresh and what you can tell is the tenacity of the texture on the chew. A definite 5 out of 5 from me. Oh, try their porridge too. If you are a porridge guy like myself, the selections are plentiful and you won't be disappointed. Will I be back? Sure!

I came here on a Saturday for lunch at noon and there was a 20 minute wait. I first went to the location in Vancouver and was excited to see they have a location in Milpitas. They're most known for the rice rolls so those are highly recommended. 1. shu mai (very juicy, recommend) 5/5 2. dough stick (just okay, more crispy than fluffy, tasted like it had been fried in oil used multiple times) 3.5/5 3. Dry shrimp and scallions rice noodle roll (recommend) 5/5 4. Marinated shrimp and beef rice noodle roll (tender beef and shrimp, recommend) 4.75/5

It's a rare treat to find Ginger Milk Curd in the Bay Area with such a flawless, pudding-like consistency.

I love cheng fen! It's my favorite dim sum dish. Happy to come here for a late lunch turned early dinner since their hours are flexible, and unlike many other dim sum/chinese spots, their cheng fun is not sold out by the early PM. That said, they have a variety of rice noodle rolls and I got my usual beef + shrimp styles. The rice noodles were very soft and silky, actually it was hard to pick it up with the chopsticks without the insides spilling out since it was so thin. The soy sauce kept it nice and moist, though it could have a bit more flavor. Portions could be a tad bigger, I think I could eat 4 of these easy. For the other items, the jook (porridge/congee) was filling, with a good amount of egg/meat. The shrimp/scallop dumplings were decent, but for $7.25/4 pc, it's a steeper price for 'less' when compared to your local aunties' dim sum carts. Also would NOT recommend: fried tofu (dry/bitter), or dough stick/Chinese donut (dry) Service was great, they serve hot water by default, there's plenty of seating but just 1 single occupancy restroom. People speak canto, mando, and English here. I would definitely come back to get my cheng fen fix if I am in the area!

Was craving HK cafe style food and found Yin Ji Chang Fen on Yelp. I've been in the plaza multiple times and never noticed the restaurant, so I was very curious to stop by and try them out. We arrived mid afternoon on the weekend and they had a couple tables occupied. We were greeted immediately and told to order with our phone. There were lots of options, all reasonably priced. My favorites from the meal were the shrimp and beef rice roll, shrimp dumpling, fish congee (with extra green onions), and steamed spareribs with black bean. Such a comforting meal on a rainy afternoon, will definitely be back!

Comfort food is above everything for me. I grew up eating a different variation of congee called khichdi in hindi but the way my mind and flavors have adapted to loving har gow and dumplings is because of this place. I have had a lot of shui mai in the Bay Area but nothing beats the flavors you get here. Freshly hand pounded meat gives it that intense flavor and I love it! It has shrimp and pork in it and the flavor is fantastic. Their har gow (shrimp dumplings) have been a hit or miss lately. We order 3-4 plates at a time so sometimes they try to fit all of them in one big basket and it gets cramped and the har gow breaks apart easily while picking up with a chop stick. However, it's definitely the best har gow anywhere. Hand pounded shrimp and a lot of shrimp filling! You actually taste shrimp and it's authentic and delicious! I love their chicken congee! Wait a full 6-7 minutes after you congee arrives on your table for maximum flavor. Mix it well since there is ginger at the bottom. It may seem like there is no seasoning in the congee but my understanding is that it either grows on you like it did on me or you could ask for their soy sauce mix for some extra saltiness. It is comfort in a bowl. Their supreme soy sauce noodles are the best! Great wok hey and delicious! Salty and not sweet at all. We pay a little extra for added chicken and it makes for a great meal! We absolutely love their rice noodle roll, something this place is known for. My go to is marinated chicken and mushrom rice roll with extra chicken and it is DELICIOUS! My husband loves their shrimp rice noodle roll. It's a wonderful place to grab lunch! If tou want to beat the crowds, 3 pm-4 pm is the best time! Locals love this place. It has history deep rooted in community and serving authentic food. Give it a try and you will have found a hidden gem!

Passing by several times and today we give it a try. As expected, we feel very good to come for lunch. Outside: easy parking, clear signs Inside: clean and tidy, good table setting. Menu with nice photos and easy to find our favorites. Food: good quality, authentic Chinese taste. Some are of well above-market standard. Service: friendly and professional To-go packing: very good We would rate a four n a half stars. We will surely come again.

Back and got some takeout for my son, who is not feeling so well and he need porridge. I called and ordered Sprimp rice roll, fish porridge, and Chinese donuts . Highly recommended hk milk tea and lemonade iced tea, needed in this heat, not too sweet either. Food was yummy and good, definitely our go to

Food: Marinated Shrimp and Beef Rice Roll, BBQ Pork Rice Roll and Black Gold Egg Custard Bun Price: $9.00 | $8.50 | $6.50 Overall: I been eyeing this place for a while since I love rice rolls from Dim Sum spots! We came around 2:00 PM and we got seated right away. The menu has a good variety of rice rolls, congee, and dim sum items. We decided to get the Marinated Shrimp and Beef Rice Roll, BBQ Pork Rice Roll and Black Gold Egg Custard Bun! For both of the rolls, I like that they added vegetable; wished that there was a bit more protein filling. I topped it off with the chili sauce and it was good! The Black Gold Egg Custard Bun was surprisingly not sweet (BEWARE, your teeth might have the black bun bits stuck in your teeth). If you are ever craving rice rolls, try this spot out!

Needed black beans The shui mai are good but a little too fluffy which makes me think they have a lot of fat in them. The steamed rice rolls were nice. The gai lan was a bit fibrous and tough. The stir fried snow pea shoots with bean curd skin was a little bland. The durian puffs were good!

We checked in the front desk and we were given a ticket with a number. As we are waiting, tables for parties of 7 or 10 and 11 were being fulfilled. I checked in twice to ask about our group of 6 and she was very rude and snobby as she informed me that large parties were being seated first. We had been waiting for an hour and they were not calling anyone for party of 6. So ridiculous. After waiting for 1.5 hours, we were finally seated and guess what? The table that we were seated at has 7 seats -- I looked at the other tables that were empty and they also had 7 seats -- meaning that at any point when a table for 6 or 7 was available, we, party of 6, could have been seated but she chose not to seat us and have us wait. Once we were seated, everything moved rather quickly. We were given a menu to order -- we ordered and within 10-15 minutes, everything was brought out to us. No wait time for the food, it was very fast. The food was decent but nothing memorable. Overpriced dim sum, overpriced food. As much I love Chinese food, I don't see myself coming back to this location because the wait times are crazy even if you come early. And second, the two women at the front counter are very rude, provided very poor customer service. Very annoyed and disappointing experience, wouldn't recommend to anyone.
