My party of 6 came here on a Monday around 11am and there were only a couple of tables that were occupied. They gave us a paper menu where we could write down how many of each dish we wanted. It was a little hard to flag down the waiter though to put in our order as he was waiting on every table and they had put us in the back of the restaurant at the larger tables. Once our food was in though, it was a while before our dishes were served. They slowly kind of trickled in so once we finished with a couple of dishes, the other ones would come out. At the end though, we had finished all the food and were waiting on 1 more dish that we had thought they forgot about. We had to wait for a while for it to come out but after it came out, we just paid the check right away. The dishes themselves were pretty good. I really enjoyed the siu mai as it was large and firm/crunchy (something that I didn't expect siu mai to be). My favorite dish was the rice noodle roll with crunchy shrimp as there was a difference in texture between the soft rice roll and the fried shrimp that kinda reminded me of the texture of youtiao. Overall a pretty solid choice for dim sum though it is on the pricier side. read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but the customer service here was good enough that I wanted to give this spot a shoutout. My family and I came in around 6pm on a Sunday, and the restaurant filled up quickly by 7pm. Even with the dinner rush, the staff stayed attentive to our table and even joked around with my parents, which made for a really warm atmosphere. We ordered pumpkin with egg yolk, honey walnut shrimp, steamed oysters in black bean sauce, live steamed sea bass, sweet potato leaves, and fried rice. The sea bass was the standout, perfectly steamed with a mild, well-balanced soy sauce flavor. The honey walnut shrimp was a solid classic (hard to mess up). The pumpkin with egg yolk had a nice savory crisp on the outside, though I'd have liked the pumpkin itself a touch softer. The oysters were surprisingly large, and the fried rice was generous with egg and didn't skimp on portions at all. Overall, the price-to-portion ratio was well worth it compared to other spots we've tried. For dessert, we tried the salted egg yolk baked bun, taro baked bun, red bean sesame balls, grass jelly, and osmanthus jelly. The red bean sesame balls were my favorite, not too sweet, with a great chewy texture. I heard they're sometimes given out free on weekends, which is a nice touch. I went to Cheung Hing twice in one day while on a recent business trip. It seems like this is the name for restaurants in the Bay Area. According to Google maps, there are 8 of them. I think I've been to 4 different ones. This one is located in Milpitas. I don't know if they are related to the other ones. The roast pork and roast duck here are good. It makes for a good meal when you get it with rice or noodles. They also serve dim sum at this restaurant. The siu mai that I ordered was also good. Service was good. While we don't come here as often as before, our family of 3 always enjoy a family dinner from time to time. Food doesn't always come out perfect but for the most part, Cheung Hing doesn't disappoint. Seasoning can be lacking at times so it is great to have the condiments table-side. Service isn't attentive and it certainly isn't great but we always have the most courteous interactions with the male busser and the older male Chinese waiter. My husband took me and my parents to this restaurant this weekend for some dim sum since I have been craving for it so bad and it did not disappoint! We got there at 10:30 am and were immediately seated. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. I love their personalized utensils with their name. Ordering was super easy. Came for Thanksgiving dinner without reservation and the place is packed! We were lucky to get a table while we arrived early, but the line waiting for take out is long! It's packed and we had to flag down the staff multiple times to get hot water, soup spoons, rice, and reminded them a couple of our orders. They had no time to change plates for us or help to take out the dirty dishes. However, even on a holiday night, we could order from their value menu and for 2 small families, we chose Plan A with a lobster (small, comes out like 6 pieces but it tasted fresh). The plan comes with a pot of soup which was super yummy and flavorful. Then we selected 4 dishes. We picked 2 BBQ item combo of BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken, roast duck 1/2 size, beef with mushroom, and garlic bean sprouts. They offer only seasonal veggie so the bean sprouts were super fresh and yummy, a bit too oily though. The beef dish was delish, the beef was so soft and flavorful, we had no idea how they could make it so well in the texture, bouncy, juicy and not a bit overcooked. The roast duck has a good flavor of plum sauce and it could go really well with a bowl of white rice. The BBQ items were consistent in quality and always a kids hit. The complementary red bean soup was luke warm, but we were stuffed and everything was as good as their low season not busy time. The Peking duck is actually one of the most solid ones in the entire Bay Area -- perfectly crisp skin, lots of meat, served with fluffy buns. Not sliced fancy like the more expensive Peking duck places, but comes at half the cost and does not lose on flavor and texture. I was treated with rudeness and disrespect about this restaurants staff. I normally ignore, but I had to share my bad experience. I waited for my to go order for about 45 minutes from the time I ordered it over the phone. I came in and was rudely greeted by unfriendly, non smiling older waiters. A young waiter asked me to sit down and wait. About 2 minutes later, I saw someone put a plastic bag placed on a table about 5 feet in front of me. I didn't think it was mine because they see me waiting there and did not give the ordered item to me. After another 15 minutes of just sitting and waiting patiently, my phone rang with my wife asking where am I. I stood up and the two waiters who were largely ignoring me since I sat down said.. "Sir! is this your shiu mai?" I got angry when he said that because all along, he knew I was waiting and decided to just ignore the customer while they talked for 15 minutes. This rude behaviour perpetuate the stereotype of bad customer service from asian restaurants. It's been a while since I've dined here but was very impressed by dinner recently. For a Saturday night it was quite packed with most of the large tables taken. Extensive menu as you can see from my 20+ menu pictures. There's definitely something for everyone here! We ordered the following: -dried scallop egg white fried rice - Delicious! You can really taste the "wok hei" in the rice. -spicy eggplant with fish clay pot - There's a generous amount of eggplant and fish in this dish. If you're not a fan of bamboo, you can ask for it to be left out. -chicken chow fun with gravy - This is our go-to dish. It's packed with chicken and vegetables. Again, lot of "wok hei" in the noodles. -crab meat with vermicelli - This was my favorite dish! The noodles had a wonderful flavor, and the crab taste really came through. -bbq trio plate with roast pork, roast duck, and jellyfish - The roast pork was fresh and not dry, decent pieces of roast duck with lots of meat. Jellyfish is always fun to eat. The portion size was quite generous and the service was attentive. I've ordered their salted fish with chicken fried rice several times in the past and that's always good! I love going to Cheung Hing for dimsum because it's one of the few places where they bring out the dimsum carts for you to order. When you're seated, they'll still provide you with a menu so you can order that way if it's more comfortable, but I love the traditional dimsum carts. I came here with my sister and my husband this past weekend for lunch. The plaza does get crowded around lunch, so I typically try to go early to get a parking spot. The restaurant doesn't get too crowded like other places, so we were able to get seated quickly after arriving and we were handed a menu to order our food. We ordered beef meatballs, siu mai, beef rice rolls, chicken feet, fried rice, taro buns, salted egg yolk buns, and matcha buns. Our food came out quickly one by one. We first got our siu mai, which was nice, juicy, and flavorful. We also got our beef rice rolls, which were doused in soy sauce. The rice rolls were nice, chewy, and tasted super fresh. When our beef meatballs came out, the server kindly cut them for us so that it would be easier to eat them. The beef meatballs were also very large, juicy, and had a decent amount of herbs and garlic to spice them up. Our chicken feet were nicely cooked with a gelatinous texture from the collagen. None of us were very big fans of the fried rice because it was so salty, but at least the rice itself was nice and fluffy to eat. The desserts were amazing! We were getting full by the time we got to the buns, but they were so delicious that we were able to appreciate their flavor. The matcha buns had a crispy exterior, a mochi-like chew to the bun, and a nutty, earthy matcha filling. The taro bun was also really good with a thick, slightly sweet taro paste inside and a sugary topping on the bun that reminded my sister and me of concha pastries. The salted egg yolk bun was probably my least favorite but it was still really good with a runny, salted egg yolk filling and a fluffy and soft bun exterior. The price for everything was really reasonable, especially if you take into account the portion sizes. The service is quick and you can even ask waiters for help with ordering if needed. (Last time we were here, we were able to order Mongolian beef even though it wasn't on the menu. The restaurant is super accommodating! The Mongolian beef was also impressive because the meat was so soft and tender and the plate wasn't filled with onions, which tends to happen at restaurants these days.) Because the restaurant isn't too crowded, it's easy to have a conversation with friends as you eat your dimsum and you don't have to worry too much about waiting to get a seat for lunch on the weekend. WARNING: Serious cleanliness issue First time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately it turned into a very scary experience. We ordered the ginger scallion poached chicken and noticed a small cockroach on the chicken. This was extremely disturbing, and we immediately lost our appetite. The waiter did replace the dish right away, but by then we had completely lost confidence in the restaurant's cleanliness and food safety. As an apology, the waiter offered a free chicken on our next visit, which honestly felt inappropriate -- after such an experience, it's impossible to feel comfortable returning. It was tame but the fish was tender. Braised Tofu w/Mushroom (3.5/5). Fried Tofu with the creamy inside. Mostly baby bok choy and the tofu. I think there was only a couple of straw mushrooms and shitake mushrooms. Standard dish. Pea Sprouts w/garlic (4/5) - usually the large pea sprouts are used, which these are. Sautéed well but had that nice crunch of freshness. Marinated Ranch Chicken (Half) (3.5/5). It was Steamed and similar to how the Steamed Fish was cooked. Overall, a nice family dinner. We ordered a West Lake Beef Soup, BBQ Pork Rice Rolls, Fook Kin Fried Rice, and Seafood and Bean Curd Clay Pot. Then we saw a promotion on the table saying that with orders of at least $40, customers can order a Lobster Noodle for $21.99 or Soy Sauce Chicken for $19.99. Do we also got the Soy Sauce Chicken. I ordered from the regular restaurant menu. We had come here prior to this visit of mine to get the Beef Tendon Brisket Rice Roll Clay Pot. All I remember about that dish was that it was super chewy and salty. So not really the best introduction to this place. This time around I got the wonton noodle soup and potstickers because I needed to order over $20 to use my credit card. The wontons in the noodle soup were great. So much flavor, but it does have this fattiness that can be offputting to others. The noodles were a thin egg noodle and it also came with bok choy. The potstickers were fatty. Like CHONKY. It had a nice ginger flavor to it and just satisfying because it was just so meaty! S E R V I C E I ordered at the front and paid. They told me to sit down to wait. Eventually another server came to ask what I was waiting for so glad I kept the receipt. My order did come out in roughly 15 minutes. Reminder that yes, you do need to over over $20 to do credit card payment. O V E R A L L The first visit was not great. But this time round, I'd totally would come back for their wontons and potstickers. I'm curious to see how their chow fun would be like. So that may be the next thing we order next time. I was surprised prices on their menu did not change since my last visit... that was probably 8-9 months ago. We ordered one of the dine in specials, which was either free range soy sauce chicken for $18.99 or one crab for $20.99. I was impressed with the chicken. It was over cooked, it was the flavor that I like which is the classic soy sauce flavor with a hint of sweetness to it. Many other places killed the dish by over cooking the chicken... this place has it down! It was fine perfectly, one of my favorite dish for the night. I was also surprised with the sweet and sour pork chops, which was another great choice for the night. It was not heavily breaded, actually, no breading at all. They selected quality meat for this dish. It had a good amount of lean meat instead of mostly fat parts like many other places. It's on the sweeter side like less tangy, which is what I preferred. Service was actually decent. Services were attentive. I don't normally mention service in most of the Asian restaurants because my bar is very low for them. If I don't expect too much service, then I won't be disappointed. Hahahaha I also like this place because it pretty spacious in the evening. My family came here at 11:30 on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. However upon leaving, there were people waiting outside. Pretty standard dimsum, nothing extraordinary but glad to have a spot so close to home. My favorite dishes were the fried tofu, salted fish fried rice, Chinese broccoli, and the pan fried chive and shrimp dumplings. Reasonable prices, okay food. read more

Cheung Hing in Milpitas is a great spot for dim sum! The food is incredibly filling and delicious. Although it's on the pricier side, it's a great place for treating your parents or celebrating a special occasion. Parking can be a bit of a hassle since the lines aren't clearly marked, but it's manageable. The service was impressively quick, and the staff usually brings out all the dishes at once, which is great if you're hungry and ready to dig in. The vibe was pretty nice, very fast paced so it felt like we got in and out quick but that's the life at dim sum places One of my favorites was the seafood noodle - super crunchy and packed with flavor, I could eat it all day! My husband and I arrived Memorial Day around 1:30 in the afternoon and this place was jampacked. We were able to get seated pretty soon. Service was pretty busy, but our food made to the table within 15 minutes or less. The majority was delicious! Below were the dishes as they came out. Roasted Duck (half) 5 out of 5 Well-marinated and skin was cripy. The greasiness was overcome by the plum sauce came along the dish and the portion was huge. Undeniably the best dish of the order. Pea Sprout in Broth 4 out of 5 Tender pea sprout leaves with some mushrooms. A good one after roasted duck to clear out palette a bit. Foo Kin Fried Rice 4.5 out of 5 This was not a well-known fried rice, but I would like to have both the usual firey fried rice texture as well as the mushy and half liquid sauce texture. The one offered by Cheung Hing did not disappoint. If I have not had tasted a better version of this, I would give it full score. Braised Beef Entrails 1 out of 5 I would give this dish 0 if I could. It's like some overnight dish reheated and was blunt with no taste. I could only sense the offal smell that was supposed to be removed during food processing. The server was able to refund this for us. Mango Pudding 3 out of 5 Just average level of most Cantonese restaurant, a light desert to wrap up lunch. Overall service 3.5 out of 5 We got wrong dish served, but we quickly pointed it out. We were offered refund for the Braised Beef Entrails. I was so excited for Dim Sum and I was so disappointed with what I got. Service was good. The salt and pepper squid had great breading, great toppings, and came out very cold. Total turn off. The spinach and shrimp dumplings were very dense. The black mushroom dumplings were also exceptionally dense and you couldn't taste the mushroom (no umami here), and the pork dumplings were under seasoned and steamed in little aluminum pans (when you tried to remove them the dough ripped and all of the juices drained out).
