Food in general very good, they were renovating so indoor seating limited, we were assigned outdoor seating which looked cheap. Rod cod 2-ways (soup, then stir fried fillet) was great, Steamed giant clam excellent. Crab meat & dried scallop stir fry just ok as the egg was burnt & a little. Price reasonable compared to Koi Palace
Came by for a late dinner and made it 45 minutes prior to them closing. They greeted and seated my party of 4 as soon as I walked in. They were not busy and we were advised to order soon, as their kitchen would close shortly. Items ordered: Soy sauce chow mein- Large portion and taste was fine and as expected. Beef stew noodle soup- Large portion and plenty of beef and noodles with some choy. Taste was okay. Salt and pepper pork chops- I opted for no jalapeños. The fried garlic was good but this was VERY fatty. Majority of the pork chops were gristle and inedible. Choy in broth- Large order and taste was fine. Fish congee- Portion size was okay and decent amount of fish. Staff were very friendly, brought us the bill but explained that we had plenty of time to finish our meal (as they were trying to balance the register prior to closing), and even brought us desserts. Ambiance- 2/5 stars This location is in need of an update. They do have a private room and seating is not too crowded, which is a plus. Food- 2/5 stars Portion sizes were big but they could definitely do better about the quality of food served. Service- 4/5 stars Everyone was friendly and helpful
Mayflower Seafood in Milpitas. Before I even picked up my chopsticks, I had to snap a photo -- everything coming out of the kitchen looked too good not to capture. I stopped in for a casual meal and the clay pots with frog legs and beef dishes arrived hot, fresh, and beautifully presented, with that classic Cantonese comfort that hits the spot every time. Service was quick and efficient, and even with the hustle of the dining room, the team kept everything moving smoothly. We also got BBQ pork and walnut shrimp.
In the past 3 months, I've been here 3 times for dim sum on the weekends. Our group size varied from 4 people to 9. I'm can honestly say I'm shocked at the negative reviews. Our food is always picture perfect and the staff is quick and attentive. We had the pleasure of being greeted by Frank, our host, every visit. Frank is so friendly and kind! He waves at his guests as they leave and he even smiles - if you frequent Chinese restaurants, you know what a rarity this is. My aunt and uncle came for a visit from Hong Kong, and even they were impressed with the service and the food. I love the black bean chicken feet, roast pork and duck, spare ribs and wu gok. Honestly, everything I've eaten here has been great. For dim sum. the weekends tend to get busy just before noon. We usually arrive around 11 and have always been seated right away.
My grandson wanted soup dumplings and this restaurant is close to the house, so we decided to go here. I've never been, and it was on a Saturday afternoon. Lessons learned from this visit. Maybe we should walk next time. Parking is hard to find, its very busy, or don't go on the weekend. Luckily the wait for a table was only a few minutes. We ordered our usuals off of a menu, they don't come around on carts. Siu mai, bbq pork bun, fried shrimp balls, shrimp balls, shoyu fried noodles , soup dumplings, green beans and few new ones like stuffed tofu, beef chow fun, and couple.more. all of it was good, and slightly bigger than other dimsum places, I'll have to remember that. Soup dumplings were ok though, they came out later, so my grandson had filled himself on other dimsum and he didn't eat his usual portion, therefore leftovers. Everything was good fresh and hot.
During the weekend, it is hard to find parking. Inside is spacious, clean and well lit. Big screen tv's are everywhere so you don't miss any sport events. Ppl are friendly and pretty efficient. Foods are great. Average portions.
Has the Har gow (shrimp dumpling), Bbq pork rice noodles, Black Truffle shrimp dumplings, Xiao Long Bao (Steamed Shanghai Dumplings), and House special Pan Fried (Hongkong style) combination noodles. Noticed that they have really good wrapper to filling ratio with their dumplings. Thinner wrapper with generous protein filling for both their meat and seafood dumplings. Har gow was filled with big chunk of shrimp. Had bamboo shoots flavor too but not overwhelming. Truffle shrimp dumplings were good with just the perfect amount of truffle. I like that they topped the dumplings with the truffle instead of mixing it with the filling because I could taste the shrimp and the truffle separately. This was the highlight of the meal. The BBQ pork rice noodles were also good with lots of roasted pork and maybe chives which really complemented the sweet pork. The noodles were a bit overcooked that they were falling apart as I pick them up with chopsticks. The XLB were small but didn't skimp on the filling. Wrapper was very thin so the dumplings were mostly meat. I could taste the ginger flavor. Not a lot of soup inside. But still good. The Hongkong style noodle dish was also good. Generous serving. Had chicken, bbq pork, shrimp, scallops, squid, bok choy all on top of crispy egg noodles with soy based gravy. Yummy. The egg custard cake (Thousand Layer Cake) was unique. It was steamed cake with paste of salted egg mixed it. It also had some candied pieces of coconut. Very moist. It was good but too sweet for my taste. They have less variety of dimsum and more pricey than other places I've been but they definitely pay attention to the taste and quality. Each dimsum item had its unique flavor that's noticeable. They don't have the dimsum carts. You order by marking the paper menu and they bring the dimsum to your table. Big open dining room. Welcoming hosts. Attentive staff and manager.
We came here for Christmas Morning before 11am rush! We got soy mai, har gow, shrimp and beef rice noodle, crispy shrimp balls, custard buns, bbq pork buns, chicken feet, and fried dumpling. All the food here is good everytime, they fill the dumplings up with meat and the rice noodles are always soft and perfect! Love coming here each time!
They don't have dim sum on carts, but once you submit your order, the food comes out pretty quickly and is hot and fresh! We ordered a variety of dim sum dishes and it was exactly what we were craving - traditional, classic dim sum. We chose our tea and was given a big pot, which only needed to be refilled once towards the end (we drink a lot of tea; and it was only the 2 of us). Food was good and pieces were decently sized (shu mai and har gow were on the larger size, which we loved!). Service is what you'd expect it to be -- minimal interaction but efficient. The restaurant itself is bigger than I expected, clean and ample seating for any size party. We got there around 1pm and it was still pretty busy. Something to note: an automatic service charge is added to your bill, so no need to tip extra. My partner overlooked this and added a tip on top of the final bill. The nice lady ran over to me as we were exiting and told us to revise it and remove the extra tip. I thought that was thoughtful and kind of her. Overall, a new dim sum go-to for us.
Probably not going to come back here. Came here for Christmas Eve dinner with my family. Waited 20 minutes for someone to come by to take our order. We had to wave someone down ( No tea or water yet) Waited for 30 minutes for soup. Waited another 1 hour for the FIRST dish. It took more than 2 hours to receive all our dishes. We waited close to two hours for our food. It wasn't good enough to justify such a long wait or to make us want to return. The service was terrible from start to finish. To make matters worse, an automatic 18% service charge was added for 3 people, which did not reflect the level of service we received at all. The service charge was also not WRITTEN anywhere on the menu which is illegal.
Mayflower used to be the Dim Sum standard, but my how far they have fallen. They have a lot of seating, but we're not cleaning the tables to seat people. There was a line of people but more dirty tables than people in line, they could have seated people quickly had they better managed the tables. The food was served warm, not hot. Once we were seated, we got a pot of tea. We asked for water and was served some after the food was delivered (so about 20 mins after we asked). Also they add a 18% gratuity (unannounced) for any party (1-10), we had two people in our party and still had the gratuity applied with no way to adjust it. I have no issue paying for good service (18+%), but the service was sub-par so the automatic gratuity was ridiculous. I'd say to skip this place if you're looking for dim sum.
Came here for a work lunch on a weekday. It wasn't that busy although we did come after lunch rush. We ordered off a paper menu and the food came in quickly. Did we order too much for 4 people? maybe. Was it worth it? Yeah. Food: Too many to list, but honestly everything was solid. Not sure I had if I could select favorites as everything was good! One that I've never had before was Layered Egg Custard Cake dessert. If you like egg custard buns, you'll probably like this like I did. Service: Similar to other dim sum places. Wokers watch from a distance if you need something, but are really quick to attend.
My mom wanted a nice family dinner together so we went to Mayflower. It wasn't too crowded on a weeknight. The service was great and very attentive. He was very polite and helpful. They do carry seafood like from Australia or Alaska. He did say, they are pricier. We stuck with local seafood. LOL. *Fishmaw soup with crabmeat. *Peking Duck with buns. *Braised Tofu with vegetables & Mushrooms. *Pea Sprouts & Ginko with bean curd skin. *Peking Spareribs - the sauce was good, but the pieces had too much bone and a little meat, which was tougher than usual. *Dungeoness Crab with Ginger Green Onions. *Steamed Whole Black Bass (Freshwater). *Steamed White Rice (not pictured) - if you have Steamed fish, you need the rice to enjoy the aromatics and sauce. The food was tasty and delicious and my mom was happy, so that is all that matters!
Haven't been here for a while and decided to meet up with a couple of friends for dim sum lunch. The place looked different from the last time I was there, some renovations must have been done. It's open and bright and not too noisy, quite comfortable for a dim sum restaurant. Food was still very good. We had Steamed Shrimp Dumplings 蝦餃, Siu Mai (Shrimp and Pork Dumplings) 燒賣, Steamed Bean Curd Rolls 鮮竹卷, Shanghai Dumplings 小籠包, Baked BBQ Pork Buns 焗义燒飽, Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls 鮮蝦腸粉, and Fried Taro and Meat Dumplings 峰巢竽角. Everything was well made and delicious. Food came out at a good pace. The standouts in my opinion were their Siu Mai and Fried Taro and Meat Dumplings. I am usually not a big Siu Mai fan but theirs were very tasty and juicy and fresh-tasting. They did a great job frying the Taro Dumplings. They were not greasy and the oil used seemed fresh. Service was very attentive, professional, and friendly especially because I've known our waiter Alex for over twenty years! Prices are fair for Bay Area standards. Came here for a dim sum lunch with a large group, and I was impressed! Dishes came out so fast I didn't get a chance to snap photos, but everything was delicious. My favorites were the shrimp dumplings (har gow) and the shrimp and pork dumplings (shumai.) I would definitely come back! For dim sum in general, I recommend going with a large party so you can try more things! Like I said, everything I had here was great I don't think you can go wrong with your order! read more
My family's favorite dim sum place now. They have the best siu mai, chicken feet, and fried shrimp balls. Their siu mai is so soft, juicy, flavorful, and delish! The fried shrimp balls have very fine flaky crunch outside and yummy inside. Other pieces would have very sparse and thick crunch flakes outside of the shrimp balls. Also, their pork/thousand year old porridge is not to miss. This place is one of the few dim sum places that provides extra onions and pickled radish for the porridge that made the porridge taste 100x better. Also, be sure to request their house made special XO sauce that makes everything much more delicious tasting. Also good is black sesame mochi balls, durian dessert balls, egg custard balls, jelly fish, chicken feet, spare ribs and sticky rice. Since tip is included, expect super and efficient service. And with new remodel, place is clean and new looking. Sometimes I crave for their siu mai and sesame mochi balls at night. read more

Came here for dinner and got Chinese dishes here! Great service. Bit pricey but solid food. Started with some salted peanuts. My favorite part of Chinese dinners. We got the soup of the day which was the soup with chicken feet in it. Forgot the canto name. Got some boiled giant surf clams which were huge and came with a sweet soy sauce and green onion oil poured on top giving it an aromatic taste. Clam tasted fresh and had different parts. The seafood glass noodle clay pot was tasty and had a slight kick to it. The pea sprout with tofu was cooked perfectly. Vegetables were soft and still had that crunch to it. Nice sauce and delicious soft tofu with crispy edges. Ended with dessert which was the grass jelly and peanut soup. Both not too sweet. The grass jelly was refreshing. Ask for their XO chili sauce! Delicious with all their plates. Spacious restaurant and can rent out parts of it. Plenty of parking here. read more
I had the pleasure of attending a Milpitas' Assembly Member Lunar New Year Dim Sum Celebration . The food was incredibly delicious. The service was expedient delivering piping hot delicious entrees in rapid succession. I wasn't able to photograph all of the dishes as I was too busy chowing them down. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the room was a buzz with chatter and laughter. It was a good time for all. I'm happy to discovered this gem. read more
haven't been here in years so decided since we were passing through to go. service is minimal and not what i remember. glasses were dirty and chop stick wrapper stained with i don't know. lighting good but not busy like usual. food is always good- had to get my own vinegar which was fine. prob won't be back again anytime soon. read more
The environment is nice with a spacious layout and tables well spread out. The servers are friendly. The food tastes decent, though the flavors are milder compared to Sichuan dishes since it's Cantonese cuisine. Prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes feel just right. For three people, the total came to about $80, including tip. One thing to note is that the tip is already included as a service fee. I noticed an 18% charge when I paid the bill during a weekday lunch. This percentage may be higher during busier hours. read more

My first time here as I wanted to try it out for possible graduation dinner. I do not recommend. Service was pretty much non existent but still auto charge of 18% onto check. (Mind you that me and my son were the only ones in there) There were bugs flying all around the table and food while trying to eat. Food was ok, your better off going to a fast food spot. For cheaper and more food. I got 3 items for $88.00 included tip. Fried rice, sweet sour pork and Kung pao chicken. read more

Dropped by Saturday afternoon with a reservation for a large party of eight individuals. All items arrived promptly and were delicious. Standard dim sum goods. Majority or all customers were Asians which is a good indicator for authenticity and quality. read more

very chinese dim sum spot. I liked the stir fry pea shoots, the baked bbq pork buns, and the scallop and shrimp dumplings. The beef in the rice rolls and steamed beef balls were weird - they added so much starch to the beef that they had like no texture and very little beef flavors. Overall not bad but did not impress me read more

Came on a Sunday and got to sit down immediately which was unexpected but welcome! The furniture and interior seems a little dated. However, the dim sum dishes are excellent every time I come here. From the sticky rice to chicken feet, everything is cooked very well and has me going for seconds. This is an ideal spot if you have a large group since they can accommodate parties of 12-15 with their family style tables. read more

I hadn't been here since I was a kid doing yum cha with my family and it's funny to see all my friend's comments about how bad their experiences once were. However, I have to say that for my friend's wedding recently, they were the absolute best in providing an amazing banquet experience. The venue was large to fit nearly 300 guests with a small area for photos and an entire dance floor. Everyone was gathering around for photos with the couple and the staff were very accommodating for all of our needs. As a vegan, I usually get a major short end of the stick when it comes to Chinese restaurants and banquet meals, but I was shocked to have 6 different dishes served to me which was more than I expected. Everything was pretty good too - definitely a lot more inventive than at other Chinese banquets I've attended in recent years. Love the use of tofu and mushrooms to really amp up my offerings. Staff were also extremely friendly and would shoot the s--- with us especially when it came to requests for more water or making space in order for the wine glasses to start getting poured. They took real good care of us, serving my friends individually depending on their dish in the massive ten-course seafood meal. Cheers to the newlyweds and thanks Mayflower for hosting an incredible wedding banquet. read more
I probably came here when I was younger for family dinner or wedding dinners but I don't really remember. I see that they have dim sum on the menu. I might need to come back to refresh my memory. I came here on Sunday to celebrate my grandma's bday with the family. We reserved 2 large tables for somehow managed to cram about 24 people into 2 tables. Lol. The food was pretty good. We ordered a variety of items, such as honey walnut shrimp, chow fun, fried oysters, fried rice, egg drop soup, Peking duck with bao bun, sea bass, and a glass noodle dish, etc.. Good food, would've given more stars of they had chilli oil. Service was great they brought the food fast and hot, its a typical minimalist Chinese restaurant. Ambiance was simple. read more

They do not serve dim sum on carts. The orders are placed by selecting the dishes on the dim sum sheets and dim sum menu is for lunch only
Is the new outdoor seating open?
Does anyone know if they push those dim sum cart around for outdoor dinning if so what time does it ends?
No, it's self ordering on a sheet. You mark what you want. No dim sum carts.
