There was a 30 minute wait when we arrived at 11:30am on a Sunday. Tasty food made the wait worth while...ordered har gow, siu mai, fried taro balls, fried daikon, stir fried green beans, egg yolk bun and Thai style vermicelli...$50 each for our party of 3...but want to cone back to try other different dishes...

I love Chinese food but I left Koi Palace feeling very disappointed. We were a party of 6 and we all arrived at 10:45am. We checked in the front desk and we were given a ticket with a number. As we are waiting, tables for parties of 7 or 10 and 11 were being fulfilled. I checked in twice to ask about our group of 6 and she was very rude and snobby as she informed me that large parties were being seated first. We had been waiting for an hour and they were not calling anyone for party of 6. So ridiculous. After waiting for 1.5 hours, we were finally seated and guess what? The table that we were seated at has 7 seats -- I looked at the other tables that were empty and they also had 7 seats -- meaning that at any point when a table for 6 or 7 was available, we, party of 6, could have been seated but she chose not to seat us and have us wait. Once we were seated, everything moved rather quickly. We were given a menu to order -- we ordered and within 10-15 minutes, everything was brought out to us. No wait time for the food, it was very fast. The food was decent but nothing memorable. Overpriced dim sum, overpriced food. As much I love Chinese food, I don't see myself coming back to this location because the wait times are crazy even if you come early. And second, the two women at the front counter are very rude, provided very poor customer service. Very annoyed and disappointing experience, wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Came to Koi Palace on a Saturday at 12:45 and waited probably around an hour for a table for 4. There seems to be some sort of app or website to check your status, but we couldn't seem to get it work - you get a number and have to be in the area when they call your number, and they seem to have a tiered numbering system based on the size of your party. Once seated, there's a paper menu to order off of, and a list of specials separately, and food starts coming out quite quickly after they take your order. The inside is a classic chinese banquet hall vibe, with plenty of tables jam packed into a warm brightly lit open space. We got a large assortment of thinks and liked most of them, but the specials we ordered, the roast squab and lobster noodles, really did stand out as really tasty and exceptional! Of the more standard menu items, the chicken feet were perfectly soft and seasoned, the durian puffs were light and flaky without being oily, and the siu mai were tender and generously filled. The crab roe xlb, turnip cakes, and shrimp rice rolls were okay but nothing memorable. Overall, one of the better dimsum options in the area, especially if you're celebrating something special since the wait can be a bit much to be a frequent rotation dim sum place in my opinion. Definitely get some of the specials if any of them catch your eye!

This is one of the best seafood and dim sum restaurant in the bar area . It was established in 2014 . People love to come here for wedding banquet because it is big enough to host many tables . My friend was hosting a Chinese New Year dinner banquet and they reserved the CNY menu for the year of the house . A private room and server was assigned to the group .There were 12 dishes with good blessings to the name of each dish . Then one seafood fried rice and 3 desserts at the end . 1) Whole suckling pig with crispy skin. This spot is well known for their seafood and duim sum for lunch. We arrived about an hour before closing and the service was super quick and efficient! We ordered the crispy noodles with mixed seafood, honey walnut prawns, hot and sour soup, and pork buns. Everything tasted great and the portion sizes were more than enough for two people. It definitely feels like a good place to come with a bigger group so you can try more dishes. It is on the pricier side for a Chinese restaurant, but the food quality and service made it worth it.

Whenever I have relative visit from Canada we will definitely have dimsum at Koi Palace, it's a ritual for my family. I have been coming here for years and this place is still popular likes the first time I ever dine-in here. Always so busy during their dimsum hours, wait time could take up to 1-1:30 hour on the weekend, so be prepared. Located on the 2nd floor of Milpitas Ulferts Center, you will need to take the escalator or elevator to reach the entrance. The hospitality and service here are all about speed and efficient, so make sure to order fast, eat fast, and leave fast lol. The restaurant itself is really spacious, very bright and clean, definitely suitable for big family and big group. People do wedding banquet here all the time. They also have live a seafood tank by the wall. Koi Palace food has been consistently good for years, my family always orders all the dimsum staple likes Hagao, Siumai, Xiaolongbao, Pork Ribs, Chicken Feets, Shrimp rice roll, and other side dishes. My favorite dimsum is the Chiu Chow Dumpling and Durian Puff, another item that I'm totally recommended is Hand Roasted Suckling Pig Slices from their BBQ section, literally the best roasted pork I ever had in the Bay Area. Koi Place definitely more on the expensive side of Cantonese food restaurant, but it came with great quality and fresh ingredients, totally worth it for special occasions likes family reunion in my case. The tea that they serve is good quality, I always go for Jasmine or Chrysanthemum to start my meal and clean my palette after. A great spot for dimsum, make me always looking forward for the next time my Canadian relative to visit.

Visit this restaurant for dinner, I know here is famous for good service. Even though weekday evening, still see lots of people eat dinner. Order food for 7 people without over order, and portion is pretty good. Highlight is the Meat combo, both good presentation and taste. Soup is kind of disappoint because no taste. Pea vines also disappoint because vegi is too old. Overall satisfied

Still thinking about their salt egg yolk dishes even weeks later. The rest of their dishes are just solid. But anything with salt egg yolk is GREAT. Service efficient. They will try to nudge you out of there if they're busy to help accommodate more customers and if they think you're not eating or ordering fast enough. It's not pushy though. Everyone knows that going in. Lots of tables. Ambiance casual

Great restaurant. Have to wait in line but it worth the wait. Very authentic Dim Sum food. We enjoyed every bite. Their tea pot was cool too. Kept the tea warm. They had lots of choices. It was noisy inside but very typical for a Chinese dim sum restaurant. Felt like home to us.

Still an overall favorite of ours! We came on a Sunday morning before it got packed and it was great! All of the food came out quick and hot! All of the dim sum was delicious! They make the best scallop egg fried rice and we never finish it because of the big portion but tastes good as leftovers! Always recommend using their red chili sauce, it is the best chili sauce and we love adding it to everything!

We came for my friend's birthday. My other foodie friend from Hong Kong knows how to order fortunately for us. Everything was really good especially Shanghai 2 taste crab which was cooked with egg whites with the crab meat and then the legs are fried. Service was good. We just need to wave them down some times but usually they are proactive to change plates. They even gave us 2 free unique yummy desserts. They made the poles look flashy which gave it a modern twist. Bathrooms are clean which is a must for m

Dined here on New Year's Day with the fam and enjoyed an assortment of dim sum items. Good thing we came here early right when they opened, because this place does get busy. Ordered: Rainbow Sampler Shanghai Dumplings - more for aesthetic purposes since I couldn't really taste the difference; but nonetheless pretty solid dumplings with a good amount of filling. Crab Roe & Pork XLB - best eaten as soon as it hits the table. I couldn't really taste the crab roe, but nonetheless it was still pretty good. Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce - can't go wrong with this item and it paired well with everything. It was cooked perfectly and had that nice crunch/bite to it. Honey Walnut Prawns - nice size shrimps that were well coated and had a great balance of mayo/sweetness. I also enjoyed the many candied walnuts on the dish. The walnuts alone were perfect to me. Fried Rice - it was my first time having fried rice that included tiny crunchy shrimps in it which added a nice texture to the overall dish. Shrimp Rice Roll - perfectly steamed and big shrimp pieces Fried Dough Stick Rice Roll - I would pass up on this item next time as it was my least favorite item ordered. The peanut sauce/oyster sauce did not pair well with the fried dough. It was an interesting combo that just didn't taste that great to me. Shrimp Ball - they had a pretty unique take on their shrimp ball as it's different from the typical shrimp balls. It's coated with like a red/white some sort of rice crispy which was unique and enjoyable. Overall service was ok and dishes came out promptly--but you do have to sometimes raise your hand and haul someone down for refills especially since it does get pretty busy. There are tons of tables, bar seating, and great for a small or big group.

huge open dining area in a nice Asian themed shopping complex. We had a big group of 18 people on 2 tables and ordered a 10 course meal banquet. We loved the crispy tofu cubes appetizer; the walnut shrimp; Peking duck; stir fried beef cubes; stir fried pea sprouts. The service was very mechanical with little interaction with the wait staff. there was little to none personalized service, it was like a giant factory churning out dish after dish, no control of the flow of food, wait staff kept piling up the dishes, often request we empty partially cleared dishes or scrape them into smaller vessels to accommodate newcomers. Very noisy due to the crowd.

In my opinion, their system for waiting for tables is a bit chaotic. They do not ask for your phone number; instead, they print out a receipt with a number and call it out when your table is ready. There is a monitor inside the restaurant that you can watch, but since it's so crowded and the way the system is displayed on the screen, it's kind of hard to tell what is going on or what your status is. Service-wise, it's exactly what you would expect from any Chinese restaurant serving dim sum, if you know what I mean. :) Inside, the restaurant is very spacious and large, and I am assuming the reason for the long wait is that it's one of only two places to get dim sum in Milpitas (the other being Mayflower in the other highly packed plaza nearby). They do not serve dim sum with the traditional cart system where dishes are rolled around the dining room. Instead, you order from a menu and mark down how many quantities you want of each item. My family got a variety of dishes, but I'll call out some notable ones: * Their shu mai was juicy and packed with meat, probably one of the best shu mai I've had in the South Bay. * Their har gow skin broke apart really easily, which bummed me out, but it was generously stuffed with shrimp. * My favorite dish was their purple rice rolls. It was basically a Chinese donut stuffed with shrimp and wrapped in a purple glutinous rice roll. * The chicken feet were very balanced and not too sweet. * The truffle scallop dumpling had a rich mushroom flavor, and the scallop added a nice flavor profile. * The BBQ pork was coated well with the char siu sauce. It was tender and bold in flavor. Overall, my experience here was great, but I do not think it warranted more than a 30-minute wait. The food also came out a bit slowly in my opinion, but that was probably due to the high volume of people.

We ordered our usual: shrimp rolls, shrimp dumplings, sui mai, salted fish and chicken fried rice, chicken feet. Unfortunately literally every dish came before the sui mai and shrimp dumplings (seriously? its the most popular dish). I'll start off with the good dishes because honestly there were so little, the two best dishes were the siu mai and chicken feet. The siu mai was hearty, flavors were good, and it was large. The chicken feet was cooked perfectly, texture was consistent throughout and the flavors were subtle and well seasoned. Now the fried rice was 25$, I really wanted this to be good. My honest description of it is ‍, the rice was well cooked, shards were fluffy and seasoned nicely yet that was it. The salted fish was rarely seen, youd only notice every 3 spoonfuls and the chicken was passable. Shrimp rice rolls and shrimp dumplings are my stable go tos, I've been eating these dishes since I was small. These two were a complete disappointment, the batter were both chewy and honestly felt TOO thick. Then it seemed like there was a batter of some sort on both shrimp fillings? This cause the shrimp to have bites that were EXTREMELY chewy, like why are rice rolls chewy??? Final bill was 150$ for mid food that came out late and poorly time. Would NOT come here again.

The ambiance is your typical Chinese restaurant. Simple and clean enough considering how long this restaurant has been in business. Nice chandeliers. Busy on the weekends for those coming in for dim sum. Restaurant is a decent size and has tables that are good for larger parties as well. Located in a busy plaza which houses many eateries near Lion Supermarket.

The staff is friendly and nice including the owner who knows my go to meal which is beat tendon stew with turnip. I have had other dishes and they are all superb and delicious. Not sure what all the complaints about the food are but I have dined in a lot of Chinese dim sum places including Koi Palace and I love this place more. I have not ordered a dish I did not like and I have tried quite a few of the chef specials already. Ambiance is huge and wide open with nice tables and cloth. I go after work at around 7pm and there is a nice spattering of regulars but I know this place gets crowded in the weekend.. Price is fair but the food and ingredients high quality so I don't care as good food trumps price. I love this place and am happy the owners and staff recognize me. The food is superb and tasty and the ambiance perfect when not busy. I highly recommend coming here for an awesome food and chef to table experience!

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

I came here on a Friday evening with my friend to grab dinner around 6:00 PM. The wait was around an hour, so be very prepared if you're coming during the dinner rush. This spot is located where the majority of the Asian restaurants are in Milpitas, so it's safe to say the parking can get a bit hectic and intense. The interior of the place is very bright, modern, and clean. There is a lot of seating for a small space, but the reason they are so busy has a lot to do with the number of people wanting to check this spot out. When you sit down, you scan their virtual menu via QR code and order there instead of through a server. You have the choice to order on one phone as a group or separately. Between my friend and me, we ordered a beef mint salad, fried tofu, confit mushrooms, and truffle mushroom rice. I will say that when we first got the fried tofu and confit mushrooms, we were quite surprised by the small portions compared to the price. That said, they were delicious, but skippable if you're trying to find the best bang for your buck. What I absolutely would recommend is their truffle mushroom fried rice. This might have been my best bite this month. It was so savory, the mushrooms hit perfectly, and the coating of butter on the rice was supreme. It was $28 for a bowl, but it was a good value to split between two people. Overall, this place had great, fast service (our food came out in under 10 minutes), a nice ambiance, and fresh, flavorful food.
