We used to drive past New Pho Saigon on Calaveras all the time, but, because the restaurant was in a dying mall, we never thought about going. Then one day we decided to look on their Yelp page and we found that they served BBH and we decided to go. Entering the restaurant, there is nothing fancy and it felt like it was family ran. The menu is fairly extensive. We often have the BBH, Pho #1, fried egg rolls and BBQ short ribs. We have been very pleased with their quality, taste and quantity. They never skimp on the beef in the Pho or BBH. Their fried egg rolls are always crispy with complete accomplishments. Their BBQ short ribs can give many Korean restaurants a run for their money. Service is consistent and friendly. This is what a genuine Vietnamese should be. They recently refreshed their interior. I usually come here during my lunch break, and the spot is always quiet and chill. I walk in hungry and leave full every time. The service is great, and the food has that homey comfort vibe. The pricing is decent for the amount of food you get, very reasonable. I typically order the garlic rice with spam and eggs, and it's honestly so good. Their pho broth is light, smooth, and actually refreshing. The noodles are perfect, and the meat is tender. One of my absolute favorites, though, is the spring rolls with their peanut sauce. I would choose Pho Saigon over Pho Mai. Periodt. I usually go later at night and prefer this spot over Pho Mai. It's less crowded, the lady who works at night is so buddy buddy with everyone and she's funny. You pay at the front when you're done eating, and there's plenty of parking. This place is eh.. no wonder why it's empty and the outside light is always flickering?! People don't bother coming. I came a few days ago with my family and our experience was just ok. I ordered a pork chop with rice and it looks like I got red bbq beef lol! Their pho soup bowls are packed with meat and noodles but the broth taste has too much clover & cinnamon taste to it. The fried egg rolls are just ok; the stuffing literally taste like won ton meat. The spring rolls tasted plain and the peanut butter sauce was way too thick and clumpy. Their Thai iced tea and fried rice did taste good and I'd definitely suggest these! As we were all eating, they were cleaning and using that Fabulooso floor soap which has stinky and string fumes. An interesting experience! I enjoyed the rice plate I had, the grilled pork was tasty though I wish there was more lemongrass flavor. The egg roll filling was quite bland but I loved that they used a rice paper wrapper. The spring rolls were pretty solid and the peanut sauce was delectable. My parents both ordered pho (unfortunately didn't get a picture) and they both couldn't stop commenting about how much they didn't like it. They said the noodles were too undercooked and the broth was too salty and lacked the typical pho flavor that you get from the spices. The service was also pretty unfriendly. Our server didn't really speak to us at all and kept glaring in our direction while we ate, which made for a pretty awkward dining experience/environment. When arriving at this restaurant there is a ton of parking around the building. When you enter the restaurant they will ask you how many people are in your party. They have booths and regular tables for your choice. Their menu is extensive and there are a bunch of options. We always come here for the pho but next time I come I want to try their beef stew. The pho is very flavorful especially with the lemon and Thai basil they give you. They also give you jalapeños and bean sprouts. The spring roll is also good the only thing is that the rice paper on the spring roll is sometimes harder then expected. I love the peanut sauce though. I highly recommend this restaurant. Stopped by to lunch with my friend to catch up over some much needed girl time. When we arrived, there were no other diners. This restaurant resumed indoor dining service two days ago, so they're just getting back into the swing of things. I will note that there were plenty of customers walking in and out for pick-up during our time in the dining room. I ordered Bun Rieu which essentially tomato and crab paste soup over vermicelli noodles, and my girl ordered the Bun Thit Nuong which is grilled pork and fresh vegetables over vermicelli noodles (no soup). And, for an appetizer -- we chose goi coun which are shrimp and pork spring rolls with a side of peanut dipping sauce. Everything tasted as expected, and the authenticity was no different from their sister restaurant Pho Saigon Noodle and Grill restaurant off of Landess in Milpitas. It's no wonder they opened a second location! Food and service are excellent as per their reputation for good homecooked style Vietnamese food. This location is newly opened so there are still some remodeling they will need to do to remove the tones from the previous establishment (which I believe was a frozen yogurt spot). Give these guys a try when you're in the area. I know this restaurant will thrive as our economy begins to fully reopen. Lol. 4 other parties were seated well after us but the waitress took all of their orders first before us despite us having our menus closed and me waving at her. Younger waitress is definitely a new hire and has never done this before but is trying so +1 there. She doesn't know the prices of anything either so she couldn't ring us up. The parking lot was dark and this whole plaza was not very well lit. There were not too many people in here at the time so there was a lot of tables available. We ordered the Goi Cuon ($4.50), I ordered a large Pho Tai ($8.75), and my brother ordered a small Pho Hoac Hu Tieu Bo Kho ($9.50). The Goi Cuon was good and the peanut sauce was consistent with their other location in San Jose (the one that opened till 2am). The Pho Tai was good and the broth was flavorful. I usually don't put all the extra condiments in my pho because it doesn't need that stuff; however, I put everything in and it was still good. When looking on Yelp, we found New Pho Saigon 2 which is in the same plaza as the Big Lots. After finding this place on Yelp, we noticed that it was closing in about half an hour so we called in our order. We ordered Bun Thit Nuong (Grilled pork with Vermacelli noodles) and Com Suon (Grilled Pork Chop with Rice). We were also trying to order Iced Vietnamese Coffee but they said that they already ran out since they're closing soon. After putting in our order, the person on the phone said that it would take 20 minutes. When we got to the restaurant, we were a little early but went in anyways to see if maybe it was finished early. After going in, it turns out that we were a little early but they let us pay and they said they would bring it out to the car when it was finisihed. I didn't take very long before one of the workers brought it out. Both dishes were very good and had a lot of flavor! If you tried both, you can kinda tell that they used similar (or the same) marinade for both meats but it was still good! My rice was slightly hard, but I'm guessing it was because we were ordering our food at the end of the day. So the rice I received was probably at the bottom of the pot.
