Pho Dao is located in a plaza with many other shops, parking can be a hit or miss depending on the time of day you go. Inside is very spacious with lots of tables. Service is quick and the pho came out quick as well. I like that they also offer fresh noodles or egg noodles! I ordered a #11 pho tai chin. I liked the broth because it wasn't too oily and felt more light and not as heavy compared to other pho places, but still had a deep beef flavor. I ordered a small and it was surprisingly filling and filled to the brim.
No wait for weekday 3:30pm, good amount of seating. The space is super clean. There's a card fee. The menu is simple, ordered a #2-pho ($17.50) special which includes all the various meats: filet mignon, flank, beef ball, tripe, brisket, and tendon. The pho was delicious. Good portion of meats. The filet mignon slices were a great cut, good pieces and tender to eat. The broth ha a lot of flavor, a little bit sweet from the star anise and maybe cinnamon. Glad to find this great Vietnamese pho. The egg rolls are super crispy with a good matching dipping sauce. Grilled pork vermicelli bowl is massive (see my pics) and so tasty. It's a nice pho restaurant with easy parking and spacious dining area. Looking for big portions and delicious food? this is the place to go.
This place has became an absolute go to of mine and I'm so glad I found this spot. I commute from east Bay Area for their pho and it's not only because of the quality of their meat and how fast the service is. But a lot of it has to do with the broth. Some pho spots make their broth a bit too oily/ greasy or even watery. Kim long is an example of a these factors. From it being a quality pho spot that used to be good but lost its quality over time unfortunately. As for pho dao, they never disappointed me. I also recommend getting their lemon soda. It's not too sweet but more so on the refreshing side.
Located in a little plaza, this restaurant is on the corner of a supermarket off of Hostetter. We got the Kobe Pho medium and the #4 hammered beef pho small. You can choose the normal noodle or egg noodle, though the egg noodle you can only get in medium or large size. I thought the broth was clean and savory and the hammered steak was tender. Altogether it is a good place to get pho if you are in the area!
Great Vietnamese restaurant with a bright spacious seating area. I ordered fried eggrolls and bun thit nuong and look how big the portions were! The noodles were delicious and enough to feed 2 people. Service was good too. Will come again!
I needed to fill up my gas and found this restaurant was on my want to go list nearby, so I decided to give it a try! We were seated right away, and the server came to take our order immediately, very efficient! I ordered their small Pho Dac Biet, Pho Special, which came with rare filet mignon, flank, tendon, fat brisket, tripe, and beef balls, and a side of fresh greens. The broth flavor was nicely balanced, not too heavy. The portion was really generous, I left feeling really full!
If you're looking for a BEEFY and savory broth, you've come to the right pho restaurant. Fresh noodles are cooked perfectly and they are generous with their beef. Though the signaturwe kobe beef was too chewy for me... the Pho Tai Chin was great! Good cuts of meats. The staff here are quick and you'll get your pho here in minutes. Great for a rainy day!
This pho spot is kind of a hole in the wall in a big plaza. Plenty of parking and I never had trouble finding one at this plaza. The price point is affordable to meet the portions high get. When I eat I pho I mainly look for the tasting of the broth. If the broth doesn't taste or isn't done nothing short of excellence. Then the contents in the food falls short. Hands down this establishment does it well. My waiter has a very good bedside manner and is polite/professional. This is my go to spot for pho when I'm craving Vietnamese food.
The pho was very good, and the restaurant has ample seating. Food came out fast, but the service was lacking- I asked for cooked bean sprouts and never received them.
Wanted some southern style pho, a change from us usually going to Pho Ha Noi. I usually get the dac biet pho. I got it here and while the broth and flavors were good, I always question myself because it comes with brisket, flank, tendon, tripe and eye round rare steak, the meats I always have issues with are brisket and flank. Flank here was especially fatty. Like lots of the white fatty portion and the chewy pieces. The brisket fat part had a lot of fat too. Don't know why I just don't get rare meat, tendon and tripe. It was too fatty so I just have to my husband. We also got the lemon beef salad. Which was good, lots of pickled onions, so it's not too strong. Place is a normal San Jose no frills hole in the wall pho restaurant. Parking can be tough because of the grocery store and Trams coffee.
I went here for lunch and tried the bún thịt nướng for the first time. The portion was very generous, and the fish sauce was flavorful. The service was attentive and welcoming . I wasn't quite sure if the meat was grilled, as it seemed more stir-fried to me, so I didn't get much of that charred flavor--but overall it was still a satisfying meal.
I'm not sure why I haven't written a review for Pho Dao given this is my favorite pho place in the area, but here we are! This place is great for when I don't feel like driving all the way to East San Jose for my pho craving. Pho Dao definitely has a more mild, lighter tasting broth compared to other places. I don't mind this, but if you're looking for a strong beef flavor in the broth it's not gonna be this spot. The meat can be hit or miss sometimes, but on a good day it's nice and tender! I think they cook the meat beforehand vs laying the meat on raw & cooking it with the soup, which is the one thing I'm not a fan of since I like my meat on the rarer side. That said, the fresh noodles are yummy and the service is very quick. I'm honestly surprised when I pop in and there arent too many people :( they deserve a lot more love!
Came towards closing and they were very kind and helpful. I wasn't feeling my best and they kept checking up on me. The pho's broth really hit the spot. It's so near my place that im tempted to keep coming back because their broth is just so rich of flavor! On the more above average prices compared to those around it but for the quality it's worth it! read more

The flavors here are solid, but the experience with the noodles was a bit of a curveball. When ordering, they asked if we wanted fresh or dry noodles. I opted for the fresh noodles, but honestly, I did not like them. They just didn't have the texture I was expecting for a classic bowl of pho. That being said, the broth was flavorful and the meat portions were good. If I came back, I'd definitely stick to the dry noodles to see if that fixes the texture issue. The Kobe pho is always a good choice. I love the broth here, the fresh noodles and Kobe always hit the spot. I had the oxtail this visit and that was good too! Can't complain, noodles were fresh, the vegetables seemed fresh. All was good! This place is usually busy but we came in early morning. Seemed quiet. Looks a little run down and I noticed the menu's were a little dirty but the food seemed to make me over look that. read more
Update: It's been a while since dining here, so I thought to update my review. Service is still quick. We got there for an early dinner, so we got a table and service without waiting. Not many people were there at 5pm, but it wasn't completely empty. Maybe 4 other patrons. The restaurant is fairly large, so it usually isn't a problem to get a table even during peak hours. ***OUR PICKS*** #9 RARE BEEF FILET MIGNON WITH TENDON (medium) ~ It did fill me up and I was satisfied, just wish the meat was less cooked. 4/5 #5 RARE FILET MIGNON, FLANK, FAT BRISKET, TENDON, TRIPE (large) ~ generous portions, but meat was overcooked on this one too. 4/5 We only come here for the filet mignon meat and fresh noodles. Still good fresh noodles, but they threw in the meat too soon that it was overcooked by the time we got it. The meat was still tender, but it would have been better if it was rare. Maybe next time, I need to tell them to put the meat on the side to prevent it from being overdone. read more
I've been coming here for years and truly love this place. More than any other pho spot in North San Jose. Yes, even more than Pho Kim Long (which I know is a local favorite!) Since moving to South San Jose, I'm not able to dine in as often but I've continued to order takeout pretty regularly. There's definitely an up charge of around +$1-$-3 ordering on DoorDash so beware. Pho Tai Chin ($18.99) - 7/10 + dry noodles w/ marinated garlic Absolutely delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful, filled to the brim and packaged perfectly to prevent spills. I also love that they offer marinated garlic on the side - something you rarely see and a detail I really appreciate. Pho Dac Biet ($18.99) - 7/10 + dry noodles Generous portions of meat and misc. The soup's really flavorful. The kind you can sip all the way through without getting overwhelmingly thirsty or feeling like your blood's boiling from too much salt or spice. My only complaint? Like many pho spots, they often miss the request for fresh noodles over dry. It's a common mistake but still frustrating as a customer. It may seem minor but for pho lovers, it makes a big difference. Pro tip for anyone ordering pho to-go: Ask for the noodles UNCOOKED. This helps avoid that sticky, clumped-together mess and lets you boil them fresh at home for the perfect bowl. read more
We ordered a large pho #2 with fresh noodles and spring rolls. The pho was yummy with a nice broth and I love that they offer fresh noodles. Spring rolls were ok because the pork inside was slightly dry. Overall not bad and would come again. read more

Good pho broth. Spices, sweetness and saltiness showed up in the broth in a well balanced combination of flavors. You can choose from three types of noodles: egg, fresh and regular. I got the pho with the egg noodles. Their house pho supposedly had wagyu beef but the meat I got was no different than a regular brisket. Generous portion of meat. More than other pho restaurants I've been to. The fried roll was also good packed with tasty meat. Definitely didn't skimp on the ingredients. I wish they had the nuoc mam with chili sauce to accompany the fried rolls. Instead it came with sweet chili sauce. Food came out quickly. Didn't wait to get seated. read more

It was my first time trying out pho and I was super excited for this experience and to expand my palette. I chose this place because I saw so many good reviews about this place. When I walked in I saw no one inside, not a single person was eating here. I should've taken this as a sign and left as soon as possible. I decided to give it a shot since I'm like "why not?". I go up to the woman in the front and not a single smile or friendly gesture she just tells us to sit anywhere and goes back to the front. I ordered the number 7 and my husband ordered the special. The woman brings us our bowls and then brings us the herbs. The herbs did not look fresh at all!! Some parts were black. I see that the woman sits down a few tables behind us. She's scrolling on her phone with the same gloves she used to hand us our food. I'm pretty sure she's been using those gloves for a while and hasn't switched it out which is pretty disgusting to me. Anyways, I wanted to love it but the customer service was awful, such a serious woman. The place was so quiet too! No music no tv on like others had mentioned. So disappointing! The food was alright. The meat tasted like cardboard. Some of the herbs were black I would not recommend. read more
This place is tucked in a corner of a large plaza. There's a grocery store nearby. I visited on a weekday afternoon and there weren't many parking spots directly in front of the restaurant. The place was clean when I walked in. We sat right away and placed our orders within minutes. I ordered the number one special which has American Kobe beef slices. The broth was good and the flavor was rich. They gave a generous amount of beef in the small size. They have fresh rice noodles which is what I opted for and they had a good chewy texture. The prices per bowl average between $16.50-$18 depending on what you order. I forgot my wallet, but luckily they take Apple Pay. read more
Visited San Jose and stopped by HMart. I was feeling like pho so checked where the closest pho was and Pho Dao had a really good review so I stopped by. As I entered, I was greeted and ask to sit where I like. It was a simple menu but had no pictures so I just picked a bowl of soup from the menu. I didn't know what comes in it but I chose the Kobe pho. The pho came out and it was overloaded with sliced onion and cilantro. I tasted the soup as I usually do to see how it taste like. Broth was clean, clear and not too oily but it was very bland. No flavor whatsoever. I looked over to the condiments and there was only hoisin, sriracha and I believe salt and pepper. I was quite disappointed. I did not see, soy sauce or chili oil. I was hoping my pho came with tendons, tripe, and meatballs but it didn't. I figure those would be the main ingredients and since I bought one with kobe meat then I thought they would just added it in. I order the large bowl and it was a good size. They did ask what kind of noodles I wanted and I ask for the flat noodles and the noodles was on point. I wonder if this is how they like their broth in San Jose. Where I come from and places that I've ate, I love oily soup cause it has lots more flavoring. read more
I ordered the large Pho Kobe with fresh noodles and the beef was soft and almost buttery! The soup had a strong beef and umami flavor. Their large felt like a medium and wasn't very big at all. Their fresh noodles are wider than what you're used to in pho. I'm not sure if their fresh noodles are homemade, but I didn't like how they broke easily. They also cook their bean sprouts, so if you don't like that be sure to let them know when you're ordering. The atmosphere is very casual, with a hole in the wall vibe. The service was okay. The waitress seemed annoyed that we asked for a few extra minutes since we were still waiting on someone to arrive. Overall, a good pho place! read more

Been coming here now for a few years and it's one of our go to when we're craving pho. I love their signature pho with Kobe beef and fresh rice noodles. The broth is delicious, meat is tender and fresh rice noodles are a game changer! Service is quick and at times, it can get busy here. Food comes out pretty fast, too. You just pay at the counter when you're done. They accept cards but you get a discount if you use cash. Parking lot has plenty of spaces but during the weekends, it can get busy at time with grocery shoppers next door. If you're craving some pho or need it cause you're hungover, this is the place to get it! read more

Was recommended this place by a family friend. This restaurant has an ambiance of an aged aesthetic with a grab-and-go type of service. However, the friendly staff made up for it. Their menu has a wide variety of selection; from the soup base to the meats, bowl size, and even the type of noodles. My family and I opted for their large Pho Tai with fresh noodles. The soup tasted rather gamey, while the meat had great texture, and noodles were more of wide flat rice noodles rather than something that was just fresh pho noodles. The sizing, on the other hand, was just a difference of $1 and more soup. This establishment is decent, but definitely nowhere close to anything in the 626 or even OC. Pretty ok spot to grab a quick, somewhat affordable bowl of pho. read more

Decided to try another Pho restaurant. While the price is higher than usual, the taste is decent. The food here is fairly better than most Typical joints of its kind? On a bonus note, the inside of the restaurant is a neat and modern trendy place. read more
My friend and I came here on a Saturday evening. It wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. Parking isn't too bad either since it is in a large plaza with a grocery store. The plaza can get busy sometimes though. Food: I ordered the vegetarian pho. It came with plenty of veggies. The broth wasn't too bad either. My noodles were a little overcooked, but I didn't mind. Service: Service was quick as you'd expect from a pho restaurant. Our server took our orders quickly and our food came promptly after. The servers don't stop by to check on you as typical, but they're always around if you need something. You also pay at the front when you're ready. TL;DR - Pretty standard pho place & I wouldn't mind coming back read more

Sorry, never ordered food with them over the phone. Only had food there in person. It is very loud during their peak hours, so I can imagine them having a hard time hearing.
