Yes, the fish sauce smell lingers on your hands, but it's completely worth it because the flavors are incredible. Although I'm a diehard King Eggroll girl (raised in Berryessa, that's why), i'm always down to sample contenders. Love that the egg rolls here are fried to order and that they offer one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, banh khot. Both came with generous amounts of veggies, pickled veggies, and nuac cham, all thoughtfully, beautifully packaged. The banh khot are light with crispy edges (some of the best I've had) and the eggrolls feature traditional filling with pork and taro. Yes, they are all eggrolls but the fillings are polar opposites and one place provides sweet n sour sauce [bomb af might I add] vs the other offering nuoc mam. I came by and purchased the most expensive dish. It said it was noodles, garlic noodles with garlic, giant shrimp with it, and didn't realize that the noodles were Dry and heavy, and the shrimp still had the tails and shells covered over the shrimp, and that part was covered in garlic so when I had to take the skin off the shrimp, there was no garlic flavor on the shrimp itself. It was only on the shell of it was not very happy about the whole flavor system. I would've fought because I literally threw half of it away even the shrimp. It was just very hard to eat and noodles did not taste good at all that they would've offered me something else but they didn't. I spent $18 for this little plate to throw it away. When your Viet mom tells you there's a new Vietnamese spot in town she checked out, you pay attention because Viet moms are the top competitors of local Viet restaurants. SJ Eggrolls menu has but a few items, which I actually like in restaurants. Aside from reducing diner decision fatigue, a succinct menu means they hone in on making a few things, hopefully well. This is certainly the case here. The must get items are definitely the netted eggrolls and bánh khọt. Fresh, flavorful, and hot, these are the stars of the menu. Not to be forgotten are the supporting cast of regular eggrolls and bún tôm thịt. All these items are pretty solid, but one spot sorely lacking is that there are not enough greens for the bánh khọt and egg rolls. At least for takeout, each of these items only comes with a few leaves of lettuce, not even one for each egg roll or bánh khọt, and just as sparse sprigs of herbs. Another negative note is on one instance when my friends and I ordered bún thịt nướng takeout, I found a metal string in the skewer of pork. That turned me off and I haven't been back since then unfortunately. Lastly, a double edged sword here as well: the food is made fresh, but that means the wait can be long, sometimes even when you order ahead. Hopefully this was just growing pains. I really hope they've sorted out the food safety situation, upped the veggies in the takeout, and improved wait times. When coming in for my order at the designated time, the person asked about my order where I produced my receipt. I was compensated with two sugar canes for my one hr wait. Really?????! Our party that we were hosting, we were late by a long time. I felt it was ridiculous to an extent since other folks had orders that day and they were getting their orders completed before mine - wouldn't you save the ingredients to work on the oldest order first??? The other thing that made me mad was that they'll staff didn't even help me carry the 5 trays of food to my car. I had to walk back multiple times to get the food where they were carrying trays for other people to their car with way less than what I was doing. You know you messed up and should have owned up and helped me out with the order instead of hiding behind the counter and other customers. I have also heard from other folks that this has happened to them before. Apparently this system is suppose to text you to let you know your order is ready etc. nope never got any of that too. We ordered the netted eggrolls plate, Banh Khot plate, chicken wings plate and a vermicelli bowl with sugar cane shrimps and an eggroll. Everything was delicious and flavorful. I have never had anything like the netted eggrolls and I liked the crunchy texture of the crispy net. It went well with the pork. The Banh Khot mini cakes had such a unique taste with a shrimp on top. I enjoyed the fish sauce and lettuce with all the dishes. The service was efficient and accommodating. Such an amazing find!! I've been wanting to try banh khot and this place delivered with a great first bite of it. I ordered for pickup and the food was still warm and delicious! The banh khot was crunchy and I loved how hints of coconut pulled through. The fish sauce wings and garlic noodles were spectacular on the umami end of flavors. My pickup order was on time and the gentleman at the front was friendly! I wish their nuoc cham was a bit more salty/funky, but overall so so so good! read more

I've been really into spring rolls and Vietnamese egg rolls lately and I feel weird just going to the restaurant for egg rolls since it's just an appetizer, so I was happy to see that there's a place where you can just go in specifically for egg rolls. I also don't think this place compares to King Eggroll because I feel like King Eggroll is more like a fast food egg roll spot. I saw this place on TikTok and I was really interested in the "net eggrolls" which is just the egg rolls that are wrapped in noodles and then fried. So we dropped by on a Saturday afternoon and luckily it wasn't busy. They also have bows too so it's nice that there's other other options besides eggrolls. We ordered the Grilled Pork Eggrolls, 3 Nem Nuong (Grilled Pork Spring Rolls), and 3 Net Eggrolls. I believe the price of single net eggrolls is not shown on the menu, but you can ask them when you order. For some reason, if you order any of the bowls, there's a 15 minute wait but since it was our first time we decided to wait. The inside is pretty small but I think it's meant to be a to-go type of restaurant since majority of the menu isn't large entrees. There were only 3 tables and there were other people waiting for their food, so we had to sit at a smaller/shorter table. Once our food was ready, I asked if they had the peanut sauce since that's what I like to dip my Nem Nuong in. The guy said that it's $1 for a cup of sauce, which again was fine with me since it was our first time there. We decided to eat at a park and noticed that they didn't provide any utensils for the bowl. So we had to drive somewhere to find utensils just for the bowl. Overall, I think all the things we ordered were pretty good. I think the Nem Nuong was the best out of the 3 things we ordered. I was a little disappointed with the net eggrolls because I guess I was expecting a different experience when eating it. Unfortunately I don't think I would order it again because once you take a bite, the "net" just falls off. read more
