Came by for lunch by myself. Had a good meal. Banh beo Chen: 5 stars. Large soft banh beo - flat rice cake in a bowl topped with shredded shrimp and chicharron. Flavors just came out nice with the fish sauce. I enjoyed the crunchiness of the chicharron in contrast to the soft bang beo. Nem Bo: cured beef cake. 3.5 stars. It was good in that I can taste the light sour, but felt it was too salty. Love that it was served with Vietnamese coriander leaf for accompaniment. Banh canh bun: 4 stars. crab/tomato vermicelli soup with on choy. Another version of bun rieu although the noodle are slightly thicker and with on choy. Very light broth that I didn't mind drinking. The "rieu" was pretty good although light and it came with 2 blood cube. The place was quiet and servers were very nice and accommodating.

The place is pretty small with roughly 10 tables to sit from. I don't recommend going with a party of more than 5 as the spacing between tables isn't as good. Banh Bot Loc(10/10): I like the chewy texture, but I felt like it lacked flavor. Bun Mam(4/10): I was very curious about this dish so I got it. Personally, I don't think it's for me. I felt like the flavors were kind of clashing with each other, but adding lime to it made it taste a little better. Service(10/10): Our server was super nice and accommodating! Overall, I would come here again to try other dishes or if I was in the area.

Huynh Dining is located in the popular, uber-busy Paloma Plaza. Parking can be challenging in this tight and hustling plaza. The decor is simple with a few framed pictures of their specialty dishes. Several tables of 4 per table, so they could accommodate a couple of large parties of 8+ people. House music playing. One unisex restroom. The service was friendly, thoughtful, and welcoming. Vietnamese Ice Coffee (4/5). Bold, strong expresso with the right amount of condensed milk. Guaranteed to give you that oomph you need. Bun Bo Duoi Bo: spicy noodle soup, beef shank, tendon, ham, pork & blood cubes - oxtail (4/5). Spicy and sour broth came out with the right amount of heat. Others can request more shrimp paste & chili sauce if needed. The round noodles had the right amount of texture and softness. The meats were pretty good, though one of the ham slices could have been more tender. Support your local business.

Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 4Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Ok parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (3 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are average . ( must be inflation ) 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of Vietnamese food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare in Vietman. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. To be honest, we weren't planning to come eat here, but I'm so glad we did! The wait time for the BBH across the street was too long so we decided to come check this spot out. To my surprise, it was amazing! Great staff and extremely good food, comparable and might be even better than the competition across the street. The staff were very attentive, friendly, and kind. Always one step ahead of what we needed and the food is super tasty! The sate is at the table, so use as much as needed. Sweet, savory, with hints of lemongrass in it. I loved it, considering going back and asking if they can sell me a jar lol. Overall, no complaints here... great food, amazing service, and reasonable prices!

The Banh Beo here is incredible. Soft, fluffy, and topped with pork rinds that add the perfect savory crunch to the sweet nuoc mam. The jalapeño is extremely spicy, so be careful. This dish is an absolute must order. I rarely find Banh Beo made this well anywhere else. The Banh Bot Loc was alright. It was not my favorite from this spot, and I think there are better versions elsewhere, but it was still decent. The Bun Bo Hue leans sweeter than usual, but once I added lime and shrimp paste it balanced out really well. The portion of meat is not the most generous, but I appreciate that they give you a larger bowl so you can easily add all the veggies. You also get your own plate of vegetables instead of sharing, which is a huge bonus for me! Service was extremely attentive 5/5. Dishes were cleared almost instantly, and you can tell this is a hardworking mom and pop shop. Everyone here puts in effort, and it really shows.

This place have high ratings and we had check it out for ourselves. We went there for lunch on a weekday and this place was almost completely empty. They have an extensive menu. We ordered the Banh Beo, Banh Bot Loc, Bun Bo Duoi Bo, and Bun Tom Thit Nuong Cha Gio. The Banh Beo was mediocre, nothing special about it. The Banh Bot Loc looked as bad as it tasted. The Bun Bo Duoi Bo only had one small piece of oxtail in it. The broth was just ok. The Bun Tom Thit Nuong Cha Gio was one of the worst we ever had. The grilled pork was kinda on the tough side and it wasn't charred enough. It was lack of flavor as well. There are some many other Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose that serve better food. We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant.

My daughter insisted that we try out this restaurant that's serving "Huế" dishes. We came to check it out and it did not disappoint. Besides Bún Bò (or bún bò), we ordered bánh bèo, bánh ít ram, and bánh xèo. The bánh xèo was crunchy, the bánh ít ram was soft and chewy with the bonus crunch at the end, and the bánh bèo was right on with the right amount of crushed shrimp on each plate. I absolutely loved it because I now have options when craving Central Vietnamese dishes. I forgot to mention the Bún Bò: the broth was fragrant with lemongrass, and the spices were perfectly blended in with the broth. It wasn't that spicy; however, after adding in the extra chili, it was perfect. The restaurant is clean and the service is spot on. The parking for this restaurant can be tricky on the weekend, so plan accordingly. I definitely will be back the next time I am craving Huế dishes.

Great Vietnamese food! This establishment has a menu that offers many choices and delivers wonderful quality dishes quickly. All of our choices were great. My favorite was the bun xeo, crisp and generously filled with pork whole shrimp and sprouts. Served with fresh herbs and leafy lettuce this dish was outstanding. My other favorite was the #1 appetizer, individually tiny cups of freshly steamed rice noodle batter topped with ground shrimp, and served with pork rind and a sauce that is perfect. Do yourself a favor and try #1; it's simply so delicious! Service was top notch and or food was ready very quickly. I look forward to returning for more great food!

Final Thoughts: 4.21/5 My friends and I wanted a really simple dinner today and we were in the same plaza for a matcha drink, so we decided to stop by and this try place today. We honestly didn't want anything too heavy, so a lot of the food items that we got were just light foods. No entrees today and just a flight of appetizers. Kind of a fun thing to do since we were able to get a taste a little bit of everything. Overall, quite satisfied with this dining experience. It's really nothing extravagant, but it was just a simple dinner day. Food: Nem Cuốn: 4.3/5 This was personally my favorite dish here today. It's one of my go-to dishes because it's simple and refreshing, especially for a hot summer day. Their meat isn't the best that I have had, but it'll do. Perhaps it's missing another component to it, so it seemed kind of one dimensional on the seasoning. Not super oily, but didn't feel dry at the same time, which I appreciate. Ratio of protein to veggies is alright here. Definitely filling, which I really like. Works nicely with their fish sauce. They don't have the specific sauce for this roll though, which is a little disappointing, but their fish sauce did it just fine. Bánh Bột Lọc: 4.2/5 Second favorite on the table today. The ones provided seem to be the ones that are steamed in little bowls or pre-peeled because they didn't have the leaves present and was just in the little dish. The dough was a little too chewy for my liking. Not too much bite to it. Smelled quite nice and fresh. Meat was nicely seasoned and there was this nice layer of oil brushed on top and garnished with green onions and the fried pork fat (tép mỡ). It is exactly what it sounds like. Not the best for the arteries, but amazing for the soul. Super crispy and adds a nice texture component. Bánh Nậm: 4.2/5 This item was inside of the banana leaf today and what it is is a flat dough with minced meat and protein inside. Flavor profile is similar to bánh bèo. The dough has more of the bite here and the finish is an opaque dough versus a translucent one. Gỏi Cuốn Tôm: 4.0/5 This dish was also quite average for me. The shrimps were pretty plump, which is nice. What made this dish was the dipping sauce. Their peanut sauce is quite good. Something I like is the consistency of it. Very thick and very peanuty. Leans on being almost too peanuty for me actually. I would have liked more of the hoisin sauce, but that is a personal preference. Bánh Bèo: 4.0/5 There's really nothing too special about this dish. It's essentially steamed dough. The dough also doesn't have much chew to it either. This one cut really easily. I think what makes this dish is the fish sauce. Super simple, but quite the good appetizer. I appreciate the hefty amount of the finely minced shrimps for that umami flavor. This one is also topped off with the fried pork fat for that texture component. That combined with the fish sauce is really nice. Bì Cuốn: 3.8/5 This was my least favorite of the flight. Something about just the bì standing alone as the protein for this dish seemed really off. Seems to be just a preference thing for me. The sauce is really what tried to save it, but it still wasn't my favorite for today. Filling, veggies, and vermicelli are all added into this roll. The size is a fair size too, so at least that's satisfying. --------- Quality: Fair Their vegetables inside of the rolls appeared nice and green. Love the crunch from the lettuce inside. The rice paper was still nice and hydrated, so they seem to be made to order, which I appreciate. Other items are probably steamed and made in advance and then just reheated. Makes sense since these may take a while. The food came out quickly though, so I don't imagine that being the case. Price: Average perhaps For the items that we got today, I believe the price is quite average. I say average because their rolls do seem slightly smaller than what I have gotten from other restaurants. They appear longer, but significantly skinnier. Perhaps I prefer this though because the ratio is better. For appetizers, the range is within $6 to $8. Entrees will currently range from $16 to $19. Service: Sweet They were very nice. Nothing too significant to note. Took our order, brought out the foods, and then we paid at the front at the end. I appreciate our waitress repeating our order back to us though since we did get a flight of items like that. Ambiance: Small and homey The interior is your average Vietnamese restaurant. Quite the small area, but it seems to work for them. Just three columns of tables and very simple interior. Location/Parking: Paloma Plaza This plaza is not my favorite plaza to be at. Yes, they do have a lot of restaurants and little boba shops here, which is nice. Highly saturated with Asian foods. For parking, the spaces can be small and finding parking can sometimes be a task. Drivers here are interesting too. Kind of just never know what you're going to see around here.

If Hue Resturuant is ever super busy, come to Huynh! It's in the same plaza right across the street from Hue. They serve similar if not the same type of vietnamese dishes at this place and it's just as good! The service was a bit slow but totally worth it! It's a spacious place for bigger parties to come eat! I got the BBH and it was packed with flavor and veggies! They even have the oxtail version! Come give it a try!

This place is very underrated. I can't understand why people would wait an hour for Huế Restaurant across the street when Huỳnh Dining is just as good if not better and without a wait. We walked right in on a Sunday at 12pm. Service was fast. The food quality here is very good. The banh beo, bánh nam, and it ram are all solid. Today was my first time trying the bánh xèo and it was excellent - very thin batter and super crispy. Highly recommend.

Between Saigon and Hanoi, I went on a full-blown bánh cuốn quest, trying different spots almost daily. Street stalls, little hole-in-the-wall shops, famous spots--you name it. At some point I stopped being a tourist and became a rice-roll inspector. So yeah... my standards are unfortunately very high now. The best bánh cuốn I had in Vietnam was paper thin and almost translucent, with this delicate chew that somehow breaks apart and melts in your mouth. That's the texture I'm chasing. Coming back here, the rice sheets were noticeably thicker and didn't have that same delicate texture. They also weren't as fresh and warm as I remembered, which makes a huge difference with bánh cuốn. This is one of those dishes that's at its best when the sheets are freshly steamed and hit your table warm. The meat filling was also underwhelming and not nearly as flavorful or savory as another bánh cuốn spot I've had in San Jose. With a dish this simple, there's nowhere to hide--the rice sheet, filling, freshness and nước mám chấm (fish sauce) all have to work together. It's certainly not bad, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But after eating my way through Saigon and Hanoi in pursuit of the perfect bánh cuốn, this one is kinda meh for me now. My old review gave this place 4 stars. Vietnam ruined me.

We've probably eaten here 50+ times with family and friends, and one thing I can say is that they are 100% consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. There's a great variety of Vietnamese dishes, so everyone can usually find something they like. The chả cá (fish) is one of their popular dishes and a favorite. They also have good chicken phở, broken rice, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, roll-your-own options, and plenty of soups beyond phở. You can order individual dishes or share family-style, which makes it especially easy when coming with a group. It's very casual, family-friendly, quick, and straightforward--nothing fancy and probably not where I'd choose for a date night. But for a dependable meal with family or friends, it's a great spot. Kids like it, parents like it, and my mom likes it--which says a lot coming from an older Vietnamese person who knows her Vietnamese food! The staff is always efficient and nice, and after all these years, the food remains consistently good. The biggest downside is parking. The entire shopping center has become so busy with restaurants that finding a spot can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Also, keep in mind they do not take credit cards. Overall, this is one of those longtime neighborhood restaurants we keep coming back to because we know exactly what we're going to get: good Vietnamese food, plenty of choices, friendly service, and consistency.

The broth is very flavorful, the noodles are freshly cooked and soft, soaking up the flavors of the broth, and the meat is also very tender, soaking up additional flavor from the rest of the dish. Just a heads up, they only have soup available here - no spring rolls or other traditional dishes you might expect to find in a Vietnamese restaurant. The staff is quick to get your order in and your food brought out, but after that, you're on your own. When you're finished eating, you have to go up to the register at the end of your meal and let them know your table number to check out. Payment is cash only.

Unfortunately, the service was not very welcoming--the staff came across as blunt, impatient, and at times rude--but I could have overlooked that if the food had fully lived up to the hype. The broth made a good first impression and clearly included many of the right spices, although it was also quite salty. As I got further into the bowl, however, the flavor started to feel flat and lacked the rich, slow-simmered depth I expect from a restaurant that specializes in this dish. It tasted more heavily seasoned than deeply developed, so experienced bún bò Huế fans may find it underwhelming. The meat was also not as tender as I would have liked, and the congealed blood--usually my favorite part--was overcooked and dry rather than smooth and tender. The visible holes suggested it may have been cooked too quickly at too high a temperature. Overall, the meal was decent and had some good flavors, but the broth, meat, and service did not meet my expectations. I can understand why it is popular, but I would probably try another bún bò Huế spot next time.

The bahn cuon here is really good -- the rice noodle is so fresh and soft and chewy. This was my favorite and the variety was so appreciated as well! It's also surprisingly filling and I would definitely get this next time I'm here. The fish sauce was also delicious as well. (this is in reference to the dish Banh Cuon Tay Ho Dac Biet) Bahn Beo were good sizes and nicely steamed. I wish there was a bit more sauce because I was running out at the end. Toppings are appropriately sized as well Personal take, I didn't really enjoy the fried pork rind topping as much and would have liked more shrimp, but once again, personal preference. I didn't quite enjoy the Hu Tieu, but my friend liked the soup! It's a little too plain for me. I do love the feeling and texture of eating thick, round rice noodles. The banh xeo that came on the side was hard to crunch through, I felt like it was probably sitting on the side for a while. Vibes were nice -- there's a call button to ask for service. Menu has a lot of items as well (e.g. pho, rice plates, etc), so there's something for everyone if you come with a big group! Our server was also really attentive and sweet -- he came by and asked if we wanted additional dishes/bowls since we were sharing food!

I ordered their egg rolls and banh beo for catering which came with lots of fresh herbs/lettuce, fish sauce, and other toppings. Pricing was very affordable as well for the quality. I have also frequently gone into their store to enjoy a nice plate of com tam or bun thit nuong which has always been great. They provide their nuoc mam/fish sauce on the table and always are attentive. Restaurant is large and can accommodate a bunch of tables. Parking is also on a big plaza so didn't have trouble parking.

It's not outstanding, but it's definitely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience. As soon as I sat down, I hadn't even had a chance to look through the whole menu before the server kept touching my shoulder and repeatedly pressured me to order. I found it very rude and uncomfortable because I really don't like strangers touching me. The older lady did it to everyone in our table, and she didn't seem to realize she was making our entire group uncomfortable, and it affected our whole dining experience. So, would I come back? Absolutely not. One visit was more than enough. I'm not willing to deal with that kind of pushy service again.
