THE BIG: Southern Viet style restaurant focused on a blend of comfort and street food. Inside and outdoor space available. Parking lot available but very busy. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We stumbled upon this spot after grabbing an appetizer at a nearby shop and wanted something more filling. Fortunately, we found Tan Dinh! Super busy inside and we were able to snag a spot outside. For the menu, it was a bit expansive but had visuals (helpful) and recommendations. We got the bot chien trung khoai mon (fried rice flour cakes) and Hu tieu nam vang (southern viet/cambodian soup). The rice flour cake was super umami and the noodle soup was great. A bit too fishy for my liking but still very good. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For these two dishes, the damage done was around $35. Very good for authentic southern viet food in San Jose's Little Saigon.
We tried a new Vietnamese restaurant- all the dishes were tasty. The Bo Ne was delicious( better than other places we tried) - we ordered an extra baguette to eat with the beef and dip into the egg, pate. The dry egg noodles were also very flavorful as well as the taro cake with egg. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Definitely want to go back.
Came here for one thing and one thing only -- Bò Né! Tan Dinh has become my favorite place to get bò né. This breakfast dish was so hearty and filling. The sizzling plate comes with a generous portion of beef, 2 eggs, xiu mai, and pate along with a fluffy baguette and salad. I love that you can tell they use high quality ingredients. Service was good and accommodating. We had one order without pork and they substituted those ingredients with an extra egg. This place is usually busy during the weekends, but the wait time isn't too bad.
I'm not really concerned about the price. What matters to me is the quality of the food. Honestly, when I opened the box, I was already disappointed. The bánh tráng cuốn looked very unappetizing and poorly presented. The rolls were messy, sticky, and honestly looked worse than something would make at home. I understand that food doesn't always have to look perfect, but for me, the appearance should at least make you want to eat it. Unfortunately, this one didn't. This is just my honest personal experience, but based on the quality and presentation, I wouldn't order the bánh tráng cuốn again.
Incredible food, but expect slow service for now. We came on a Sunday afternoon. Most of the tables inside were filled or had empty dishes. We came right before the rush. Was seated outside and got our order in immediately. The Hu Tieu and Bot Chien was SO good. Tasted homemade and filled up two people for lunch. Halfway through our lunch, more people came in and out. All of the tables outside were filled, and they were still trying to clean up the tables inside. I ended up going inside for a box and our check. Overall fantastic food - but expect a wait if its busy.
Came after zoo craving Vietnamese coffee and street food. Tina our server was friendly and even brought us extra broth, chopped cilantro & onions. The broth was flavorful but not salty. You can choose the type of noodle. The fried rice cake with egg was delicious and comes with dipping sauce. Vietnamese ice coffee was strong and authentic.
The best Vietnamese bo ne breakfast I have had in a long time! Their pate is so savory, and paired with the tender beef... I'm still thinking about it 2 weeks later. Worth a visit to get you're in the area.

As an added bonus, parking is easy because it is inside of Little Vietnam. Overall, come for some great Bo Ne!
I came here to try the Bo Ne. It was my first time tryign this Vietnamese dish. I loved it. It was so good. Beef was tender. Dish came sizzling on the table. Eggs still runny. Sauce was bubbling.Onions perfecty carmelized. Came with a side salad and a big French baguette. I was fearful of not having enough to eat and anting to try something else on the menu. I ordered a plan noodles with broth. The broht with the noodle soup was delciious, nothing I ever had. Clean, sweet from the green onions and chicken used to boil the broth. And a great selection of different noodle selections. Service: Staff is friendly. Staff primarily spoke Vietnamese and struggled with my English but I pointed to the item I wanted. Unfortunately came at the opening of the place, table I chose to sit at had crumbs that probably remianed from the previously night.Bathroom was clean. Staf was friednly and kind. Refilled my water when I finished. I would definitely come back for Bo Ne. Parking is difficult. I came at 10am and there was very few spots in front.
I love bringing my non-Viet friends here and making them try the Bò Né, it's always fun watching their first bite! Honestly, it's just as good as the famous spot, but without the crazy wait, and the place feels cleaner too. The service is friendly and the food always hits the spot. My only suggestion would be to update the menu since it looks a little worn out. But hey, as long as the food keeps coming out this good, I'll keep coming back.
I'm thankful my cousin in law is Vietnamese as phuc. He basically ordered and got us seated with the fam and showed us the way of his people. He said that this is literally one of a handful of places that serve the Bo Ne dish. The bo ne dish alone is worth a visit if not multiple visits. It's Steak on a sizzling plate with the gravy and oil sizzling in there with a sunny side runny egg. You're also served a baguette that rips with such softness. You can eat it however you want, if you wana use the baguette as the sandwich and put all the foods in there and dip it into the egg and sizzling gravy oil. You could say, the bo ne gave me a bo-ner Omg. And you get the pâté, which is just a poor man's foie gras. Or duck/pork liver. So get that and put that in the sizzling plate and it will all melt together. Jesus mothertrucking Christ what an experience we had. Me and the wife ordered one and we had to order another one to eat some and get the rest to go. Parking here sucks but the parking garage is a safe bet. Might still get crowded but that's just life. There's some outdoor seating too but it can get windy. Which is fine. The other thing, I forgot the name but it's a soup on the front of the menu. Ask to get the noodles dry and then you get the soup on the side. It's like tinola. You swig the soup and eat the noodles. The dry noodles bowl, you want to stir it up because there's saucey goodness at the bottom to mix it up together with.
The space is cramped. The food isn't particularly tasty. I ordered the Bo Ne. For $20, the portion was pathetic - just two fried eggs and 5-6 cubes of meat. It's overpriced and not special. For a better meal, consider buying beef from Costco. However, the service was subpar; our table didn't have all the necessary utensils and napkins, requiring multiple requests to obtain them.And the water was served inside a espresso cup terny tiny.

Bò né was superb. Soft meat that melts in your mouth. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pate and meatball on the side was really flavorful. And perfect with bread. Side salad included. 5/5 Bánh mì chảo cá mồi was what I came here for based on my cravings. It comes with a free drink. I liked it a lot, but it is fish (acquired taste). 4/5 Both dishes came with 2 eggs, fresh bread and a bunch of sliced onions. I prefer the bò né and I saw that almost everyone in the restaurant was ordering it. Monday noon is nice and cozy, with a few parties seated inside. The staff is very kind. read more

Small restaurant in Vietnam Town, was craving some Bo ne and this was in the plaza! Bo ne came out sizzling hot, comes with 2 eggs, and some filet mignon and pate with the soft and crunchy banh mi. The filet mignon was soft and had a good chew to it, def need to add some soy sauce to your banh mi creation with a bit of everything. Pate was not bad but it wasn't as pink and flavor wasn't as umami as I would have liked Hu tieu nam vang with glass noodles was fresh and flavorful. The soup was clean as I ordered the dry version, so a couple of spoonfuls of the soup into the noodles was perfect to soften it up. I do wish the sauce was more pronounced as I had to add some fish sauce to enhance the taste. Overall not bad! There are not many places selling bo ne and if you're in the area, should come give it a try. read more
My favorite thing about Tan Dinh is that they have some really great deals from time to time. Last time I went, they have a dish with tomato anchovies, bread, pickled veggies, egg, siu mai (spelling might be wrong), and an artichoke drink all for under $18! My friend was really craving some good Vietnamese food in VNtown, so we decided to stop by here for lunch. She got the bo ne & I got the pork & shrimp soup dumpling, which comes with a side of chinese donut & a salad. She rlly enjoyed her bo ne and I tasted one of her meatballs, which were good. I wanted something light & soupy, so the pork & shrimp soup dumpling was perfect. I liked the bok choy pieces that were in it, and the donut is great way to end the meal. read more
I came here for lunch one day, in particular for the Bo Ne (steak and eggs) recommended by some friends. The Bo ne (steak and eggs) came in a sizzling plate. The meat was tender, sauce was a touch too sweet for my liking. It also had nicely cooked sunny side up eggs, some pate, onions and bell peppers as well. This also came with a side salad and a baguette. Everyone who was eating here also ordered this dish, for $18 it's definitely worth. Also ordered their hu tieu wet version and half rice noodle, half egg noodle. it had liver, kidney, quail egg, fried pork fat, pork skin, slices of pork, pork bone, ground pork, chives, shrimp, squid. It also came iwth a you tiao, chinese doughnut. Portion wasn't that big, but decent flavor. read more
The vibes here are super chill, definitely gives off that family owned feel, like they really care about the food and the people. I found this spot on TikTok and figured I'd check it out. Gotta admit, I'm pretty new to Vietnamese food, so I'm no expert or anything, but ... I loved the Bo Ne. Like seriously, it blew me away. I've already been back twice just for that dish. There's just something about the combo of the bread, eggs, pate, and that super tender beef that hits so hard. Total comfort food. Everyone I've brought here has been raving about it. This might be my new Bo Ne spot! Delicious sizzling plate of beef, pate, sunny side up eggs, baguette or garlic noodles for around $20! Secret hack is to get the garlic noodles! If you're eating with another person - do garlic noodles and baguette so you get the best of both worlds. The restaurant is on the smaller side with a few tables for 4 and 2. The service was quick and friendly. I'm definitely recommending and taking friends and family here! read more

We have been wanting to try this place, so we arrived on a Saturday noon. It wasn't busy, and we were seated right away. We ordered the Bo Ne since we'd heard good things about it, and also tried their specialty, the Hu Tieu. Honestly, the Hu Tieu was sooo disappointing. The noodles were super soggy and oily, and all I could really taste was the sauce. The soup was extremely salty and had an overpowering MSG flavor. I'm not sure how to sugarcoat it, it just wasn't good. The Bo Ne was decent, simple enough, but the sauce and overall flavors didn't quite come together. The service, however was great. Our server was attentive and made sure we got everything we requested. Overall, I probably won't be coming back, as there are better Bo Ne and Hu Tieu places in the area. read more
This place is my new obsession, I would eat it every meal if I could. My mouth literally salivates thinking about it. I initially came for bo ne but saw that the person next to me had a bowl of hu tieu so I decided to try both. I normally am very particular about hu tieu because I find that most places don't make it right but theirs proved me wrong. On top of having good flavor and sizable portions, I reeally liked the egg noodle they use, it had good texture and a nice chew. I don't know which I liked more, their hu tieu or bo ne. They're so different but both were so soooo delicious. The bo ne was perfect. The baguette was soft but toasty, the sauce was a nice balance of sweet n savory, and their meat was tender. Was a busy Saturday lunch but had to try their Bo Ne' as this is what I liked from Vietnamese food lately. We tried another place and had to compare. This was just opened and offered soft open hours last year. The lady owner was very nice and welcoming. She was also our server. They are located in the Viet Town plaza. This restaurant was packed and we had a small table. We barely were able to fit our food in the table. We had their Bo Ne' and it was pretty good but did not like the meatball. Offered salad with it. My friend was on a mission to find other Bo Ne restaurants in the San Jose area as alternatives to Bo Ne Phu Yen on Tully Road. So this early Sunday morning Tan Dinh fit the bill. On Sundays it is open early which is very nice. Parking early in the morning is an excellent choice as it gets really crowded later in the day. The restaurant itself is fairy simple and clean. The menu is not very large with multiple items but we did come to try the Bo Ne. It did not take too long for our order to arrive but something struck me. The server did not ask as to how I wanted the steak to be cooked. From what I received it looked like it was cooked medium. Everything that was served was very good except for the baguette. There was nothing special about it when compared to the ones served at Phu Yen. Even taking that into consideration, Tan Dinh is a good alternative for Bo Ne. read more

Came here with a friend and ordered the bó nè since we'd been craving it for the longest time. A good sizzing plate dish during the cold winter months helped warm us right up! She opted to get the tomato rice while I got the baguette, I'd personally opt for the rice next time since the sweetness and acidity added a nice kick of flavor to the bó nè compared to the baguette, which was rather standard. This is a gym bro's perfect spot, this plate comes with so much protein. The beef is so tender and juicy and the paté was incredibly savory and rich. This plate has so much flavor and texture at an excellent price, especially since the ingredients can be pricy! read more

Tan Dinh Cafe has the best Bo Ne! I've tried this dish in many restaurants, and nothing compares to Tan Dinh Cafe. They really have this recipe down. The onions are sautéed with the marinated beef. The beef is tender and perfectly cooked. The meatball is well seasoned, and the pate spread has a great flavor. It also comes with perfectly cooked eggs, a baguette, and a side salad. The dish is a 5/5! I usually come with my family, and we also have some other dishes to share. We had the Hu Tieu Nam Vang, which is also a 5/5 dish! There are lots of delicious flavors in one dish. My mother-in-law loves the glass noodle dish with seafood. It is not my favorite dish, but because I am usually set on getting the Bo Ne, I don't pay attention to other dishes here. Overall, I 100% recommend this restaurant, especially if you are looking for a good Bo Ne. The restaurant is small but we are usually seated right away and the food comes out fast. The perfect addition to the plaza! Bó Nè is SO GOOD and this shop makes it well. Tender beef, very well flavored, and they don't skimp on ingredients. For $1 extra, you can sub the rice for noodles (Nui) and there's also the option to have baguette. The best part for me was the paté. YUUUUM. 10/10 recommend. The meatball was also well made. I wish they gave more than one because it was so tasty. PRO TIP: Try the artichoke juice... pretty sweet. read more
i've been on a challenge to find every spot that makes Bo Ne, and what I mainly look for is flavor of the meat, how soft and tender the beef is, how well the egg is cooked, and how crunchy the bread is. And Tan Dinh cafe did not disappoint, I came on a Saturday morning, lot was FULL and there was a grand opening for a store right across, but I was so glad that the restaurants were not as packed. Much of this plaza has lines out the door for all the coffee and boba shops. So to be able to sit down quickly and order was a plus. The staff was nice and took our order with no issues, the price for 2 sizzling plates was $19.50 each without tax. I got the regular Bo Ne with bread and my partner got it with french fries, which were pretty good. Would definitely be back here! read more

Legit. What a happy Friday Bo Ne brunch meal with baguette here. It was exactly what I've been wanting to crave for. Yes, the good eggs. Absolutely enjoyed every bite of it. I arrived on the dot 10 AM. They were just setting up and doors were open. Credit cards accepted here. Ladies were friendly and welcoming. Good service as needed. I already know that I would be coming back to try other variations of Bo Ne. Good variety menu and good vibes. Opening hour is always less stressful in Vietnam Town. Seats and tables are spacious and comfortable. Delicious Bo Ne was definitely a 10/10 for me. Very decent for just under $20. Yes, soft/tender beef, meatballs, onions, two sunny side up eggs, etc. Good quality and easy to cut. It's always the flavor of the juicy sauce on the plate that makes it finger licking good to dip bread into. They have a few variations if you ask for it. Comes with your selection of rice/noodle/or baguette and green salad smothered in vinaigrette. Pate spread. Yummy. Baguette was super fresh/soft/crispy, so good to start with. I didn't have to wait too long inside. It was exactly what I had in mind for Bo Ne today. My expectations were met. $4 lemon iced tea was perfect in taste and cup size was generous for $4 range. It's the type of place that makes you want to revisit again. I'll be coming back next time. Love it! read more
