    15. Oh-Samgyeopsal (sauted squid and pork belly)
    Jeremy M.

This is a nice mom and pop Korean restaurant. It's a go to spot if you live close by and need a weekday dinner if you aren't cooking. I enjoyed the food, especially the Oh-Samgyeopsal (sauted squid and pork belly). I'd go back for this but I won't consider this place a destination restaurant.

We got the dol sot bi bim bab and the soon du bu. I liked the dol sot bi bim bab it came on a hot stone + bunch of sides-kimchi, potatoes, cucumber salad, and etc. We even got a side of miso soup. We came around 6pm on a thursday and it was the perfect timing. The food were served pretty quick too.

Mina's is a solid Korean food spot where I have always had a positive experience. The servers are attentive and nice, and the portions and price will make any Korean foodie satisfied. They offer plenty of banchan and options. I always order the bibimbap which always leaves me full to bursting. The meat is perfectly marinated and they present a decent amount in your meal - many other restaurants skimp out on the protein. They pour everyone warm tea instead of water. It can get crowded at times but other times there's enough seating. It's cozy and it's not loud like other restaurants. The parking lot might be a little tight or run out of space. I'm excited to return to Minas again.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Friendly staff, very generous portion sizes and good execution. Good Banchan service. My only complaint is that the brought the Banchan at the same time as the main courses. Personally, I would have like to enjoy them for at least a few minutes before the main courses arrived. Tried the bulgogi and chap jae. Both were excellent. The meat was marinated nicely and minimal fat, which I appreciated. The noodles were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Again, good size portion for the money. Next time I'll try the dol dot bibim bot.

I love Mina's BBQ! Have been coming here for years. Especially my favorite dish is their kimchi jigae. For me, Mina's kimchi jigae is the best. Great customer service is plus!

Mina's korean bbq is a family owned korean restaurant located across the street from the Samsung office. It is a very homey feeling place with very courteous staff They are very nice and can help give recommendations if you're not sure what you want. The parking lot is very big but can get filled if its high time. Their side dishes are very fresh and you can ask for refills. Their soondubu was a very homey version and their kimchi pancake was pretty big. Most people get their meat dishes if you are craving that. Overall if you don't want to wait at the other popular korean restaurants this is the place to be!

I was in San Jose for a tech event sponsored by Dell and of course, I had to find some good food as the options at Top Golf were mediocre. Yelp suggested Minas korean BBQ, which was a short 10 min drive away. The place was not busy at 5:30pm so we got seated right away. I took no time to order and was already sold on the galbi based on the photos of this place. You'll notice it's in a very unassuming business park. A literal hole in the wall with really good(!!!!) ratings. I had the entire sizzling platter of short ribs myself. It was so good. The seafood pancake was for sharing and between 3 people we ended up having leftovers. The bonchon was especially delicious. I really liked the kimchi and fish cake. That's probably why we had so many leftovers, lol. A keeper in my book. The food here is definitely on par with the top ayce kbbq restaurants. The drive down here isn't as bad as it used to be. I took the express lanes down 101 in both directions and the cost was well worth it. You're welcome.

FOOD: 4 SERVICE: 3 AMBIANCE: 3 VALUE: 4 There doesn't seems to be as many Korean restaurants east of El Camino. But you will find one of the best Bibimbab here. We've had a variety of dishes here, but our go to are: Gal Bee Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab - Korean BBQ short ribs over hot stone rice. For starters, not many Korean restaurants offer Galbee with the Bim Bab. You get a generous serving of the BBQ short ribs. Galbi Tang - beef short rib soup with egg, spring onions and glass noodles. Tons of meat in a savory broth. I usually order this as my main dish and I seldom finish it all. Great place to go for authentic Korean food.

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent and quiet experience. Parking was available on the street as well as in the private strip mall lot. Dining was available both indoors and outdoors. Ordering was available online as well as inside the restaurant. Started off with the short ribs lunch entree and it was huge. The short ribs were well grilled, super flavorful and fragrant, although on the lean side. There was a generous selection of side dishes including pickled cucumbers, kimchi, and fish cake. The seafood pancake was huge and we had a ton of leftovers. The pancake had plenty of squid and vegetables and came with a tasty dipping sauce. Staff was friendly and cordial throughout the entire meal. Definitely a mom and pop shop ~$26/head after tax and gratuity for lunch.

Beef Lunch Special Combo. The glass noddles was missing.
    John Z.

The menu says lunch special comes with glass noddles. But the real dish doesn't. I didn't realize that until I saw the menu photo from other people when I am writing this. See photo for what I got. Service was good although. Parking is challenging during lunch hour.

Arrived at this restaurant around 8 pm and there weren't many diners except my friend and I and this elderly Korean couple. The staff were Korean grandmas, and it was so adorable as they welcomed us in! Before I get sidetracked into the food, there's lots of parking nearby in this part of downtown San Jose and other food places to consider. Anyways, the waitress served us warm barley tea, which was surprising since most Korean place that I've been to serve water. Nonetheless, the warm tea was fitting for a chilly night. Side dishes were a great staple to get our appetites going! We ordered the jab chae, and it was a huge portion! I would consider this family size for 3 - 4 people. There were lots of flavor coming from the vegetables, the meat, and the pool of sesame oil on the bottom. Oily but not too oily... The glass noodles were soft, smooth, and easy to chew on. Great family business!

Actually stumble onto this place. Was intending to go to chicken rice place and saw this strip mall full of restaurants on first st. I thought I was turning into tasman but it was a block before tasman Cruise around and check out this place instead. Thinking a Korean place across the street from samsung... it should be decent. Order the seafood tofu soup. Price was good and it was typical. Good banchan. I think I will be coming back to get the combos. There is definitely alot of Doordash or other togo pickups while I was there for dinner The combos looks like a good deal. Next time

    Dolsot Bibimbab
    Dong Wook C.

Very friendly Mom and Pop's restaurant. Food is good. Ordered the dolsot bibimbap and it came with a good amount of toppings and beef. The banchan was standard. It's simple looking inside. Busy place during the lunch hour. Samsung is right across the street and there are many tech companies along First Street. I'm surprised there aren't a ton of restaurants in this area given the number of companies nearby.

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. Honestly some of the best kimchi I've had in a long time. The portion was enough for both my daughter and I to share, though that's probably because we're both sick and couldn't eat too much. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better. They ran out of fish cake but I loved the kimchi! Pretty solid for good korean food with no wait - the only wait really was the lack of employees, but sitting and ordering was quick enough.
