Red curry (nothing red about it)
    Aden G.

Had a take out meal. Not quite a four star place but more like 3.5. Padh Thai was well balanced in taste but it mostly noodles. Could have used more veggies. Padh see ew also met the expectation. Pretty standard dish. Red was bit of let down. Too creamy and lacking curry flavor. We added some our own curry paste and it helped a bit. Overall pretty standard but not bad a place for quick bite.

Panang curry, medium spicy, with tofu, over their rice! Their Panang curry is THE BEST!

Food is always fresh and tasty! Service is great and the place is clean. The family that runs the place is friendly and nice too!

    Pad See Ew

Hidden Gem Alert! Thai MaMa Restaurant in San Jose is a MUST-TRY for Thai food lovers! The flavors are ON POINT and the dishes are cooked to perfection! I got the Pad See-Ew and Pad Thai, and WOW! Packed with flavor and so delicious! One thing to note: it's TAKE-OUT ONLY, no seating available ,But trust me, it's worth the grab-and-go. If you're craving authentic Thai cuisine, I highly recommend giving Thai MaMa a try. You won't be disappointed.

Order: *Tom yum medium spicy with only vegetables -So good. Not too salty, not too plain. *Rama Thai noodles medium spicy with vegetables -Creamy, saucy, delicious -it's basically curry with fresh pho or pad Thai rice noodles -Because it was to go only they separated the noodles and the soup. I wish that I could have combined them both and eat it immediately but I ate in the car since I was so hungry and I had to put only a spoonful of noodles at a time into the soup. I'm sure it would have tasted AMAZING if I just had a big bowl to combined things in. Thai tea For $4? Get me three. Service: The lady was nice and quick. No complaints Place: It's TO GO ONLY my friend told me to go here so I had no idea that we couldn't eat in the store. There are seats for you to wait on too.

    Mango and Sticky Rice

Food was 6.5/10 and service was 6/10! We had the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken and Mango Sticky Rice. The fried rice was sweet and savory. I do recommend stirring it before eating because the seasoning felt spotty. Every scoop felt like a hit or miss with the saltiness. I felt like there wasn't a lot of chicken, but other than that, it was quite delicious. The dessert was good, but the mango wasn't really sweet. It's not the cook's fault. The mango was probably not in season so I think that's why it's not as sweet. The service was good. Nothing over the top or bad either The server/cook was friendly and tried their best to be quick as possible. This place is for TO GO ONLY so if you're expecting to dine in, you can't.

    Thai Samosas Really delicious!

We tried Thai Mama for the first time tonight. We were both craving Thai food and knew this place was close to our house and that they have great yelp reviews. They only do takeout which worked out perfectly because we planned on takeout for tonight, anyway. I phoned in our order. The gentleman taking my order was very polite and kind. I ordered the Thai samosas, pad thai with prawns, mango special stir fry with chicken, the panang curry with chicken, the pineapple fried rice with pork, the pineapple curry with prawns and a side of steamed. All items were ordered with mild spice, which was perfect for us. Our favorite items were the samosas and the two curries. The samosas were definitely made fresh and had two delicious sauces. The panang curry and pineapple curry were both so flavorful and delicious. The pineapple fried rice was also excellent and had great flavor. The pad thai with prawns was also very good. I really appreciate that they left the bean sprouts out, as I requested. Our least favorite was the mango special stir fry with chicken. I think the main problem here was the chicken. The chicken was overcooked and very dry. In fact both the chicken and the pork protein options were overcooked and dry in all the dishes we ordered. The shrimp in both the pad thai and pineapple curry were cooked perfectly. I would definitely order from here again but will probably not choose the chicken or pork for proteins. Side note: I was told that our order would be ready at a certain time. When my husband went to pick it up it was not ready. He had to wait an extra 20 minutes. So I would definitely wait a bit longer to pick up our food next time. Inside: there are a few chairs inside and outside for you to sit while waiting for your food but no tables. We look forward to getting takeout from here again and trying other menu items.

I can't believe it took me so long to try Thai Mama! After moving into the neighborhood a couple years ago, a friend of mine recommended it. I hadn't had a hankering for Thai in some time, but when the craving hit, I was so happy to remember Thai Mama. I love Papaya Salads and theirs does not disappoint. Chock full of fresh fruit and veggies and just the right hint of lime and fish sauce brought so much satisfaction. The other dish I ordered was the red curry. I ordered it medium spice and it was just the kick I was looking for. The chicken and sauce was so flavorful. One of the best red curries I've had, and I've had many. ;) Service was very friendly and prompt as well. Thank you Thai Mama for gracing our neighborhood with your food talents. I will happily be supporting your local business, and can't wait to have my family try the chicken skewers with peanut sauce (That's the only Thai dish my kids will eat). ;)

I've been wanting to try this place for some time and I finally decided to when I was feeling sick and wanted soup! I got the coconut noodle soup with tofu & veggies and I got it Thai spicy! I was a little scared of how spicy it might be but honestly, it was not bad. Still, would not advise if you feel like you are sensitive to spice because you can visually see more pieces of actual Thai chilies in the dish. I've since gone back to have this again and it was the perfect comfort dish, like a hug from the inside to help me feel better but fuel me with something absolutely delicious! I also had the Thai tea and it was made perfectly! Not too milky and not too sweet. It's one of the better Thai teas that I've had at any restaurant. This place only offers pick-up orders. I didn't see it on any delivery service. Definitely easiest to just call in your order. The interior is very small and not designed for a sit-in meal. They're always nice and have the orders done a bit faster than the estimated time they give you.

We ordered the roti, crispy pork belly, sausage, Laos style papaya salad, and a khao soi to share between 3 people. All of the food was absolutely delicious but we felt like the portions were a little small for the price. The pork belly and sausage were both ~ $23 and didn't come with as many pieces as we thought it would. This was some of the crispiest roti I've ever had! I loved the curry dipping sauce on the side and the nice crunch of the cucumbers. The pork belly was slightly overcooked, a little hard but the flavors were great! The sausage tasted house made, it had a great tang to it and I loved the variety of dipping sauce. We ordered extra spicy/hot for the Laos papaya salad but it was definitely medium. The khao soi was very comforting on a cold day and the broth was rich and creamy. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area!

The fermentation concept is woven into everything from the beers and botanical mocktails to the food and it actually works incredibly well. The drinks are creative without feeling gimmicky, and the flavors are layered and thoughtful. The food was surprisingly memorable too, especially how vegetable-forward dishes still felt rich and satisfying. The atmosphere has this warm, artsy, almost hidden-gem energy that makes you want to stay for hours. What really stands out is that the place feels intentional. You can tell the owners care deeply about craft, community, and creating an experience instead of just another brewery. I need to start off by saying I never had good vegetarian food. I hate vegetarian food. I am a meat…read moreeater and need it for every meal. Fox Tale Fermentation is a small place like a Japanese ramen shop. My high school classmate suggestion this place and I thought she was vegetarian. I asked her why this place; she wanted to try it out but she's a meat eater. I'm down to try new places so we went. When we went, it was really crowded for a Thursday dinner time. A lady saw my cane and offer her table to sit at so I felt seen. You pretty much order at the front counter; you pour your own water. Front counter was so nice to us as we try to order. We got the funk salad and kombucha. We didn't order a lot because we wanted to try the place. When we got to our table, it was near the door. Our funk salad came and it was hefty mf. It was a bowl of salad all right. So you know how I said earlier that I don't like vegetarian food? OMG I was amazed. The best salad I've eaten. The vinaigrette was so good; it was citrusy. My salad was cut into small pieces so it wasn't big that I need to cut it. The sweet potato was sauteed. The princess sauerkraut was so good. I don't like sauerkraut at all but it was divine. I never tried kombucha because I thought it was dirt tea. I was wrong. It has the fermented taste and I never knew. After trying it, it's not something I would order again. I liked how I was eating "healthy" food after I ate bad yesterday. I don't have that bad bloated feeling. It's very wheelchair friendly and restroom is unisex. The restroom is clean. The establishment is clean. I would go here again if I have a vegetarian visitor. This place rocks!
