Today, we sat down for a light lunch and chose to sit outdoors. We ordered chicken hummus with Gluten Free pita. I also got mint lemonade, which was not overly sweet and very refreshing. The service was prompt and courteous. They took plates as we finished without being intrusive. They asked about food allergies and when I said dairy, gluten, and eggs they confirmed it was a sensitivity rather than an allergy. They helped me choose my take home hummus. We Orens! Been going here for years and they are always consistent. We make the drive to MTV just for Oren's. Some of our favorites are the chicken kebab, cauliflower hummus and the pita breads! Would love it if they opened a location in the east bay or closer to San Mateo. A client gave us a electronic gift card that Oren's couldn't find a balance on but it showed it was active meaning it wasn't used yet. Oren's still honored the gift card. We offered to pay because the gift card was old and we didn't want to make a big deal out of it if it didn't work, but they told us they valued us as long time customers and honored it. We had no idea they knew that who we were and how long of a customer we have been. They just secured our loyalty. Thank you! read more

Visited this place for the team lunch this Friday. It's an amazing place with lots of sitting available in inside and outside. We ordered a bunch of food like a sampler which had six small sides and two pita breads with the side of two extra pita bread. Everyone ordered a main dish. I ordered a pita sandwich with falafels. And I absolutely loved it. Their drink menu is amazing. I had warm apple cider and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a warm drink this winter season. Finally for the desert, we ordered chocolate moussse, some brittle and Babka. Everything was absolutely delicious. The staff is really friendly and nice. They took good care of us. They checked on us regularly. I adore this place in LG; we were starving and happened to find it in Mt. View and was so happy!! Today a lady offered we try a hot cider! Ooooooh My Heavens what is that!!! So delicious it touched my soul. I tried recreating it after going home but something is a miss. We got our usual so not problems with food....I hope they never get rid of the cider from the menu! This is one of our favorite restaurants. Place is clean, regular table & chairs, employees are super nice and it's relaxing. Chicken schnitzel is moist and crisp. Flavor of kebab and rice is good. My favorite is shakshuka, eggs in tomato sauce. I ask for them well done. The sampler of dips and marinated vegetables are always good. Food is consistently good but it's not the super best. Love Oren's hummus! Was walking along Castro and craving some good Mediterranean food so decided to go to Oren's as it never disappoints. We came 30 minutes before closing on a Monday and the staff still seated us without rushing us at all. I got the Pita Falafel and then my friends got the Pita Chicken and Sampler Dish. The pita falafel was a 5/5 - delicious! Generous amount of hummus which I appreciated. Falafels were flavorful and the vegetables tasted fresh. Very filling. My friends enjoyed the pita chicken and sampler dish. One thing to note - my friend got one whole wheat pita and one white pita with the sampler dish and said the whole wheat pita was rather stale and tough to chew. Might have been due to the fact that we came late in the day. She still liked her dish and said she would just get white pita next time. Split the garlic hummus with a friend and it was good, but not out of this world. The whole wheat pita was soft, fluffy, and delicious on the side. I was craving some veggies so I went with the Fattoush Salad with grilled chicken and it was absolutely delicious! Service was friendly and attentive and the place was very clean and tidy. The only downside is the restaurants is very expensive for the portion size. A small serving of hummus to share and my salad with chicken was almost $40 with tip (a well deserved tip I will say!). One downside is that the fried cauliflower can sometimes be pretty oily (a bit overwhelming), so I'd say definitely share among a group! - Eggplant Hummus: A huge bowl of fresh hummus topped with soft braised eggplant in tomato stew; The eggplant is so well seasoned and pairs so well with the hummus and pita. - Shakshuka: I've never tried shakshuka before this, and I really enjoyed it! The eggs were runny and the tomato stew was nicely seasoned! - Pita Bread: We've tried both their wheat and white pita bread options and they are SO fluffy and delicious. They usually serve them warm and I would say these pitas are my favorite part of my meals at Orens. ~Pricing~ Overall, I'd say the pricing is quite reasonable! I got a mix of dips as my meal, each of which comes with a pita, which was more than enough to be an absolutely filling meal, though it did lack protein. All were pretty good & I like how they give you a pita to go for the hummus. The hummus was really thick and a bit plain so I can see why they have options for toppings on the hummus for more flavor. Hands down the BEST hummus and falafel I have ever had in my life. I was warmly welcomed by a server named Chris who was clearly busy but gave me the time of day to say hello. I was also greeted by Janette and a manager named Chris who made me feel like I was at home. The cashier Maria was also really nice and friendly to me which gave me a sense of belonging. We had takeout from Oren's for a recent meeting, and wow--everything was delicious. The portions? Huge. Like, "this could feed a small village" huge. I tried the hummus with Moroccan beef, and it was insanely flavorful. Every bite was perfection. I probably ate way more than I should have, but honestly, how do you not when it's that good? Absolutely and still the best Mediterranean food and out of this world pita in town bar-none. Went back to have dinner tonight with my wife and son and we cleaned up all our dishes. The beef/lamb ground beef was excellent, my chicken thighs were soft and flavorful, the rice was magnificent and of course the pita dipped in hummus and babaganoush was a must have. Raphael did an excellent job and apologized to us for a slight wait due to a shift-change and so he brought out some pastries to us. He was very respectful and attentive. I ordered the rice bowl with beef kebabs today, and it was very yummy! I enjoyed combining a small bite of kebab, rice, tahini, and Israeli salad for every bite. The flavors mixed super well. The rice was flavorful and moist. They also give a lot of it! This meal is enough for me to have lunch the next day. While the flavors of the beef were good, it was a bit dry. Orens hummus at mountain view is easy to spot. They charge more if you order take out instead of dine in. Their rice bowls are good. They mention chicken skewers but it doesnt really come on skewer , kind of bummer if you are expecting that, but it tastes good. We like their muhmarrah dip. It got introduced sometime this year only. They have outdoor seating as well. The outside music on weekend evening can make the place feel noisy . Overall still my go to place. Easy menu read more

JAFFA STYLE HUMMUS: super creamy with pine nuts. Our server said the difference was this one had a lot of garlic. Definitely this one, please. FALAFEL: normally not something I choose to eat, but they are really good here. Can't really elaborate since I can't compare it to anything else but it was hot and crispy on the outside and well seasoned! PITA: the pita is amazing! Soft, warm, fluffy. So I had chicken skewer that goes with 2 sides or dips of my choice, I chose Jaffa-style hummus and falafel. I also tried Greek style egg plant and Labane. So happy to have such a unique experience! The place is very stylish, comfy and modern. They have table outside, serve you with water and give you an opportunity to buy freshly made hummus from the fridge there. The price is a bit higher than average, but the quality is worth it. Pay attention that menu at the bottom says "Outside Dessert Fee $1.50". That refers to anyone who brings a cake or outside desserts (like a birthday cake or cupcakes) into Oren's instead of purchasing from the restaurant. I've been going to Oren's Hummus for 5+ years and I've never had a bad experience. I usually get the hummus beef which is a generous serving of hummus and seasoned ground beef topped with tahini and served with two pitas (white or wheat). I also LOVE the Oren's eggplant dip. It has caramelized onion, hard boiled egg (not noticeable), chicken stock, and spices. Other dips are tasty - I also enjoy the labane yogurt cheese a lot - but the Oren's eggplant dip is by far the best. If you enjoy hummus and/or pita sandwiches, Oren's Hummus is a MUST TRY. I no longer live in the Bay Area but make an effort to go to any of the Oren's locations when I get the chance. My only complaint is that you have to find street parking. read more
