Hands down one of the best mediterranean food spots in the South Bay. The beef and lamb gyro tasted fresh and flavorful. I also love their baba ganoush. Whether it's in person service or take out, I am never disappointed.
A friend who lives in Mountain View suggested Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen for a group lunch. I don't know if this place would be great for a huge group, but they were able to accommodate our group of six people in the outside seating. Their outside seating is on Castro Street and was very comfortable, though we weren't under one of the sun umbrellas, so it did get very sunny. It was convenient to have counter ordering so each person could pay separately. I had the Mediterranean bowl, which had rice, crispy chickpeas, a kind of vegetable salad, some cabbage, some rice, hummus, and some cheese. I also had them add the lamb/beef gyro for protein. It was really good and very filling! I ended up taking half of it home since there was so much food. The menu had a lot of standard fare, but they also had additional Turkish food that looked interesting. I think if I went back with a group, I might try the hummus sampler or other sharing things.
This was the perfect place for a large group. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. They were great about us having one number for the table. There were six of us and the first order came long before the next four. Then there was a long pause before the sixth order came out. The food was delicious and plentiful. Togo boxes are available at the counter. A code is needed for the bathroom which was clean.
Got the breakfast plate (for 2) on sunny Sunday morning. It came with plenty of a tasty spreads and a ton of pita and a pot of tea. We had a lot of leftovers. The savory things like sausage and olives were portioned for two people but there was more than enough of the sweet jams and pita. It was a fun tasty experience and would try other items!
Other places were full and with long wait. So decided to try this. Noticed it wasn't crowded - which did worry me. But decided to give it a try. Avoid the place. Quality is okay, not bad. Quantity, for the price, is not that great. Fries were not crispy at all. Falafel plate came with half a pita. Chicken gyro ? We have had better at other place. Saving grace was Baklava. Taste was really good. Other annoying thing is - the door doesn't close automatically. And heater was hardly on. So on this cold day - I was getting up and closing the door multiple times as people entered or left without closing it. They have written a note in 3 languages asking people to close it. Why don't you just put a better door closing mechanism. Wont be coming again here - multiple other options available on Castro street.
Popped in and grabbed food to go. Plenty of seating inside. Mediterranean bowl $16.50: fried chickpeas and hummus were the highlight. The rest of the fillers were ok. I feel like Oren's gives more bang for your buck. Falafel $4: dry and not the usual taste or texture I am used to. I would skip this. I will say their service(at least for food to go) is faster than Oren's.
Best lahmacun and the most authentic Turkish food in the Bay Area. Every time I go to Hummus Mediterranean, I feel at home almost like I'm back in Turkey. The staff is always warm and welcoming. Their weekend Turkish breakfast is a real feast with all the flavors I miss from back home. The patio in the garden is my favorite spot in Castro spacious, airy, beautifully designed and decorated with lovely olive trees. This is my go-to place for delicious Turkish food.

Hummus is tucked away on Castro Street where a plethora of restaurants are situated. I usually feel you can't go wrong with Mediterranean food and they prove that right. Their menu has a variety of plates, salads, wraps and flatbreads-something for everyone. I appreciate the bright, simple interior space and their staff's upbeat demeanor. I tried the Fattoush salad and added falafel. They were able to accommodate dressing on the side and the warm pita that came with it was a nice touch. It's order at the counter and seat yourself while they bring it out. It's good, but nothing extraordinary. I rank it as a reliable lunch choice. This new spot on Castro hits the mark. From the simplicity of the restaurant to enjoy outdoor seating with covers to make you feel like you're on vacation to the food. You order at the counter and they bring the food out. Naturally, I was drawn to the appetizer sampler to try little bit of everything and glad I did! For around $18, it was so filling that I split my meal into two. The hummus is creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious but the best part - the falafel that is simply relaxing on the top - crunchy, moist, balanced, and scrumptious. I thoroughly enjoyed the babaganoush, the other eggplant dish, and tzatziki. Everything was so fresh! We also really enjoyed the pita bread that came along with it. I'm hoping the other food on the menu will be just as good and that they'll keep the quality of the food consistent.
I came here for a work lunch. Generally I avoid Castro Street because it can be crowded and parking can be difficult to find during peak hours. Hummus has both indoors and outdoor seating. We opted to sit outside since it was a nice day. We were a pretty sizable party of 10. It seems they were a bit shortstaffed that day, but they graciously moved three tables together so that we could all be at one table. They took our order at the table, which I'm not sure is standard since they seem to be an order at the counter place. So I thought it was nice that they were accomodating us! I ordered the falafel wrap combo with fries and a lemonade. The wrap was pretty sizable! The falafel were very nicely made, fries were good as well. I wound up eating half of the falafel wrap and fries and took the rest home. The tzatziki was very flavorful and accompanied the fries nicely. I would definitely return!
Food is yummy, but ridiculously priced for what it is. Order at the cashier and they bring it to you. My Mediterranean bowl + grilled chicken was $26. They didnt even add that much chicken. Service was normal speed. Lots of seating inside and outside.
We were definitely sleeping on this one , a Turkish hidden gem ! We started w the classic hummus - do not get this here . It's terrible . Small portion that feels like came out of a can . 2/5 From here onwards things got much better ! The Lahmajun was excellent - one of the best I've ever had and I had quite a few . We ordered takeout from here and weren't disappointed. We got the chipotle hummus, vegetarian pide, and lamb & beef gyros plate. Portions were really huge. Hummus was great, and I might just come here to get the other hummus varieties. The pide was good, nothing special about it. It might have been better for a dine-in experience, as they packed the pide slices one on top of the other. The pieces were kind of stuck on top of each other. The gyro plate was good as well. Hummus in downtown Mountain View - one of those spots that's usually not crowded / no wait even during peak hours which I love. Service is also pretty fast. You have to ask for water if you eat there and you pay first then sit down. Was craving Mediterranean so came here - I got the chicken gyro plate and my bf got the lamb/beef gyro plate. One of the best mediterranean place in south bay. Lots of options to choose from. We had falafel wrap with side of fries. The appetizer sampler plate had the most unique appetizers. The eggplant appetizer was the highlight of all. Falafal were soft & moist. Spanakopita was creamy & very delicious! Service was fast. They have both indoor and outdoor options. We were looking to cater for a holiday party and needed an option that was easy to serve many people with varying dietary needs. Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen came to the rescue! They had plenty of options, with an appetizer combo which gave a nice healthy spread of different options. We opted to order directly on their website as they had more options, even though the prices were the same as Doordash. They were on time in delivery as well! The spanokopita was a huge hit, so much so that it was done in the first 20 min! The dolmas were some of the best I had. They had a variety of hummus spreads, like classic, beet, and chipotle, all of which were yummy and flavorful. The other options in the appetizer spread were nice too. The only disappointment were the falafel, as they were a lot smaller than expected, and wished that we were recommended to get more falafel. I wish they gave a bigger quantity to choose from or at least bigger falafel as they got cold fast due to their size. Downtown Mountain View is so cute and I love how there are a lot of seats outside of Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen so you can dine outside. The lighting at around evening is perfect in the summer because you're not in direct line of the sun but it's not cold. I ordered the chicken gyro house plate after quite a bit of deliberation. Service was really fast and the chicken well-seasoned although it was a little bit dry. The salad was a little bit heavy on the dressing and I wasn't a fan of the pita (too dry). The portion is definitely large enough for two meals and you can ask for a box to go. read more

The food was really good. Fresh ingredients and quick service. Ordered the lamb and beef gyros with fries in it. The meat was tensor and flavorful! The second order was veggie combo bowl. The hummus was divine along with flavorful rice. They missed the dolma in the bowl. But after asking about it they served us the dolma. Overall, a great place for a quick dine-in. read more

10/4/24 Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen 185 Castro St Mountain View, CA 94041 I had a craving for Hummus and Pita bread so I chose this place in DT MTV on a Friday mid-afternoon. I parked in a usually available nearby city lot for a short walk. There were few people there in a spacious clean and new table and chair arrangement. Ordering is at the back counter below the menu board. I had the Classic Hummus which was quickly brought to my table, it came with six quarter slices of warm and soft Pita bread. The Hummus was topped with olive oil, two olive slices and Paprika. It was truly classic although I like mine with a stronger garlic taste. The menu features other classic Mediterranean selections like gyros and kebabs so I might try them with a repeat. read more

Ended up here by accident, as we had originally planned to go to Oren's, but decided to give this place a try. The hummus was very creamy and well-seasoned, and the labneh had a nice tangy richness. However, some of the other mezze items missed the mark--the flavors and textures felt a bit inconsistent, and the falafel was just okay. The grilled chicken was flavorful and well-cooked, but the fries were a bit sad, lacking the crispness and seasoning that would have made them more enjoyable. Service was nice for being order at counter. The decor was modern, unfinished wood and bright- clean. There was cigarette smell that seemed to be getting pulled from out back as nobody in front was smoking. A hidden gem! Was craving hummus and can say that this place is properly named. We got the chipotle hummus because we wanted some spice and it wasn't spicy but added a nice complexity of flavor. I got the gyro plate which was amazing! I even loved the salad and pickled veggies. Everything on the plate got cleaned. I don't usually get chicken because I'm afraid it isn't seasoned well but the chicken kebab was nicely seasoned. I don't think you can go wrong here and we will be back! read more

Overall our food came all at different times, they got one of our orders completely wrong, and the chicken itself was incredibly dry and way too burnt. We came on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 3 and each persons dish came individually with such a long gap in between that basically one person ate and finished their plate at a time. Our last friend had his wrap order messed up and took even longer to eat (probably 20 min after everyone else had finished). The chicken was very very dry and had a ton of charring/burnt pieces that we ended up asking for more ketchup to help eat it with. The server forgot out ketchup order so we ended up walking up to ask for more ketchup and was handed a measly two packets (as if ketchup was really expensive)? Later the same server came by with a side of pita - I think she misheard our original ask for ketchup and somehow thought we wanted more bread instead? We were pretty disappointed in our experience here. read more

This is a classic Bay Area Mediterranean chain. This particular location has sort of limited seating and you order at the counter. I really liked the tzatziki and pita here.
