When I first walked in, the man working at the counter didn't greet me or acknowledge me. He appeared to be in a bad mood, and throughout the ordering process, his attitude felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. When he asked if I wanted anything else, I initially said no, but then changed my mind and decided to get a drink. His response made me feel like I was inconveniencing him simply by adding something to my order. The most uncomfortable part was when I went to pay. The payment screen was asking about a tip, and I was trying to navigate the options and cancel out of the screen so I could complete my payment. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to press, and instead of helping me, he continued doing something else and didn't offer any assistance. After I tried again and the payment didn't work, he huffed and said, "You keep canceling it," in a very rude and irritated tone. I even apologized and told him that I didn't know what I was doing, but there was still no attempt to help or show me what to press, and no apology for the way he spoke to me. I ultimately walked out feeling really uncomfortable and honestly baffled by the interaction. I paid over $20 for my meal, and while the food was good, I expected a much more welcoming and respectful customer service experience. Not because it was dressed, and not leftover brine from the onions (which do not taste pickled, just softened) but because of ???? I took the salad apart to dry it and to try to save the tortilla chips from becoming mush. Then I moved I couldn't really find the double chicken I'd paid for. And so I weighed it. A double order of chicken is 5 oz. The squeeze of lime is you getting lime wedge which I guess is ok. And the avocado was hard and tasteless. For a salad that ended up being $22, this is a travesty. A Public Health Hazard Enforced by Incompetence The lack of basic sanitary protocols at this Sweetgreen location is a stomach-churning disgrace. For a brand that markets "wellness," the execution behind the counter is nothing short of a biohazard. I witnessed an employee use the exact same gloved hands to tap the greasy payment screen, scratch her own face, handle raw food, and manipulate the plastic menu helper. She then dropped that menu helper directly onto the floor, picked it right back up, and placed it onto the food counter where active bowls were being assembled. When I intervened to explain the basic mechanics of cross-contamination, she just stared back at me completely blank and cross-eyed. What is the actual vetting process at this company? Is an IQ under 80 a strict requirement for employment here? The operational logistics are an absolute joke. There were eight distinct people wandering around the kitchen doing absolutely nothing, while one solitary incompetent was left to poorly construct the plates. Management was entirely nonexistent. Nobody was monitoring the line, nobody was enforcing health codes, and it was blindingly obvious that not a single person on that shift gave a shit about human health. I am genuinely praying I do not contract a severe foodborne disease from this place. This goes far beyond abysmal customer service. This is willful negligence. I am never returning, and I am filing a formal complaint with the Department of Health first thing in the morning to have this shithole inspected and shut down. I appreciate that their menu contains notes for allergens like gluten and nuts but I wish they had notes for dairy! I ordered the miso salmon protein plate. I opted to replace the white rice with the wild rice. The plate was so packed with flavor that I didn't even use the accompanying sesame sauce! I tried the vegan salad options: shroomami and hummus crunch. Shroomami (4/5): Tasty! I really liked the cooked mushrooms and tofu - they were seasoned well. I thought the salad would taste more fresh if there was tomato and/or lemon in it. The Miso Sesame Ginger had a nice tangy flavor but I wish there was more of it!! The portions are small with half the entire plate being rice, steak way overcooked, and way too much carbs with all that rice. My usual is the chicken pesto parm with a few subs -- kale instead of spinach, cucumbers instead of spicy broccoli, and I always add an egg. The pesto vinaigrette it comes with is SO good! You can get your dressing mixed in (light, medium, or heavy) or on the side. It's a solid option when you want to eat something healthy that still tastes good. My only gripe is that portion sizes can be a little inconsistent -- it really depends on who's scooping your ingredients that day. But overall, it's convenient, quick, customizable, and tasty. I especially liked the sprinkle of parmesan crisps, in opposed to the typical croutons that usually come with this kind of salad. I also got an order of the rosemary focaccia, and some pesto vinaigrette on the side for dipping... I love, love, love pesto sauce! And the focaccia was cooked perfectly, I heated it for 30 seconds at home and it was warm and fluffy inside, aromatic with the infused herbs, and so good with that pesto! :D Staff was attentive and there was hardly a wait for service (the short line moved quickly, with several employees behind the counter helping customers). The restaurant was clean, modern, and bright with a bit of indoor seating as well as an outdoor patio with umbrellas over the tables, great for shade on sunny days. I find myself craving the warm, savory, with a hint of sweet Shroomami bowl. After four years, I decided to try them out again. Boy, has much changed. Friday night was packed with a good amount of customers but the line moved fast. Why? Because at least four employees were working the line and register. I barely had time to peruse the menu boards before a helpful staff member asked what I'd like. I got the same bowl as before and added roasted chicken, plus complimentary bread. Mind. Blown! Hot wild rice medley, juicy sautéed portobello mushrooms, roasted tofu, chopped almonds, red cabbage, heap of kale, chilled cucumber, sprigs of basil, and finished off with miso sesame ginger dressing-- amazing! I ordered herb roasted chicken when DoorDashing a few days later and prefer the original white meat. The herb roasted variety is dark meat and having that on salad is kind of weird to me. To each their own! Recently tried the crispy rice treat with honey date caramel and OMG so good. A bit of a sticky dessert but a lovely alternative to the marshmallow variety. They also display their thorough cleaning process of all produce in the open kitchen so you can see/verify how diligent they take care of everything while you order. Sweetgreen also cooks all proteins using only extra virgin olive oil and/or avocado oil. If you're a healthy foodie like I am, these processes and details in food prep are important.
