Like the food - not all service is created equal. I grabbed water and the gentleman behind the counter was leering, laughing excessively loud for my own peace of mind an then tried ti loudly reprimand me in front of other customers that i took water with the wrong cups. Signs would be more helpful than public display of disdain. Everything else is so nice and the ambience is so chill I would love to give 5 stars if it wasn't for this appalling display. Today was my first time eating food from Boudin. I had lunch delivered to my office. Ordered the Pick a Pair half sandwich and half salad. For the sandwich I got a French dip and for salad the Chicken, Apple, Walnut Salad. It took a long while for my food to arrive, mainly because the driver had to make several deliveries on her way to me. I've never had a French dip sandwich before and was surprised to find there was nothing on it except meat. I removed the top slice of sourdough to cut down on carbs and ate the remaining sandwich with the accompanying dip. Both the meat and the dip had a nice flavor. The Chicken, Apple, Walnut Salad was good, although there were several unhappy-looking pieces of lettuce in the spring mix. I liked the taste of the chicken and the spiced walnuts and especially liked the honey mustard dressing. It could have used a few more apple slices and more cheese. The two half portions were plenty; I felt full afterward. Overall it was a decent lunch and I might go back and try their clam chowder in a bread bowl and the French Dip Deluxe, which has caramelized onions, horseradish mayo, and cheese. read more

It's just... fine. We got the pizza, French bread pizza, clam chowder in a bread bowl, and a slice of the pumpkin loaf. The ambience was great, the restaurant was clean, very nice looking, and our order came reasonably fast. The staff were nice. I just don't feel like the food was that great. The pizza was alright, but it's French bread pizza, and I think the bread itself is the problem. It's better than Panera, but it's still too dry and too hard. On top of that, the pizza was way too salty--and I love salt, so if I'm saying that, it's saying something. Maybe it's because I'm sick and really want soft foods, but it was genuinely hard to chew. Same issue with the pumpkin loaf--I thought it was already stale. Super dry, not like the loaf you get at Starbucks, which was disappointing considering how many people hype this place as the gold standard. The clam chowder was fine, but I've had better. It was creamy and tasted like clam chowder, but it didn't have much depth and didn't really stand out. If you want a good clam chowder bread bowl, I'd recommend Anchor Fish & Chips. The bread is soft but still crunchy at the same time--it has that proper sourdough crunch without being too heavy or too dense. A lot of breads also have that weird artificial, Play-Doh aftertaste, which is super off-putting, and Anchor's doesn't have that at all. It's better overall, not overly seafood-forward, and I believe it's cheaper. Their sourdough is actually handled right--wrapped so it stays warm. Here they just threw the stale sourdough in a bag *plop*. read more

Tasty French Dip sandwich without cheese. Very Tasty roast beef with sourdough baguette with a rich au jus plus horseradish (on the side). It is a to-go order. I've never had anything at Boudin other than the clam chowder and bread bowl this time I tried the Royale cookie. It had some nuts and coconut in there with the essence of a classic chocolate chip cookie dough. It was quite small, but it packed flavor and I liked all the texture and chewy element inside the cookie. I believe Boudin is a Bay Area only place since it originated in San Francisco. Generously topped with a well-seasoned mix of fresh-tasting crab meat, the added bacon adding a nice flavor and crunch. The bread had good consistency, crispy enough to hold together well, but chewy as if just-baked, allowing me to savor each delectable bite. The fresh salad complemented the dish well, with a tart balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I ordered for takeout online in advance, my order was ready at arrival, no waits, and friendly service. Stopped by for lunch today and really enjoyed our choices. They are offering Dungeness crab items on their menu for a limited time. We chose the crab and corn chowder in a bread bowl and the crab Louie salad. Both were excellent. Crab tasted fresh and they gave a good portion with the salad. The soup was rich with a bit of sweetness from the corn. It also had a quick to it. I think they have put a bit of cayenne pepper in there. It gave just the right amount of heat. Our service was excellent and the tables were all clean and ready. The young lady that took our order was so kind and very helpful. I had a question about an ingredient in one of the new crab items and she quickly gave me info on it. She also brought me extra salad dressing for my crab Louie, which I really appreciated. We came to BOUDIN for lunch one afternoon. We all know BOUDIN for their sourdough bread but never knew that they actually had a place to eat. We walked inside and saw that they sold all kind of take home items. When we travel to new places, I'm always looking for items to bring back to showcase where we have been. It was nice to see those kind of items. They had like a cinnamon bread, sourdough chips in both jalapeño and sea salt. We got a few of the chips to take back home. On their menu they have sandwich and soup combos, sandwich alone, or pizzas. My daughter had a pizza and my husband and I had a sandwich. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and my husband had the pastrami melt. My daughters pizza was really good. The pizza was made of sourdough crust and it really went well with all the other toppings on the pizza. I think that was my favorite out of all of ours. My sandwich was okay. It was kind of a cold kind of sandwich and the bread to me was hard. But I guess I'm not used to that so much because it's sour dough bread sandwich. I liked my husbands one and we ended up trading actually. His was a hot sandwich that pressed together the pastrami and bread and cheese. It had some slaw on there (which I normally don't like) but I thought it worked well together. I'm glad we got to try this place. I had a bit of an issue trying to order my half a sandwich and half a salad, but I'm guessing they were out of lettuce, or perhaps a croissant when I was ordering on their app and when I ordered would just regular sourdough bread and a full sandwich, everything worked out perfectly so that's what I did. I know apps are somewhat new, but I wish there was a way the individual stores could update if they're running low on a particular item. I know the Starbucks app all allows you to do so and then will not let you order the particular drink if they're out. Nevertheless, roast beef sandwich was good, and my mom enjoyed her brie, Panini and apple sandwich. I forget the exact name. We eventually found the ordering kiosk and self-ordered. We ordered for two and the bill was ~$90. The breads were stale and the portions and ingredients were different than the picture.
