Always have been a fav place for their warm semi sweet cookies, soups, fresh salads and sandwiches. During Covid went bankrupt but they left this one location in Mountain View open. While in the hood, stopped by to check out and was excited to see my fav options. Quick ordering via the kiosk and lots of open space for dining(used to frequent very often with colleagues near to my previous office) and a Peet's coffee counter. Had their vegetarian sandwich and of course 3 diff types of cookies . Hope they reopen rest of locations in and around peninsula ‍

Bacon breakfast sandwich on toasted focaccia (customized)

Got the bacon breakfast sandwich on toasted focaccia, came with bacon, frittata (egg), and roasted garlic butter spread, and added mozzarella and basil. It was super tasty, every single ingredient, every last bite. Loved being able to customize my sandwich easily online. No interaction with staff needed as you can just pick up your order from the center shelf at arrival. The place was clean and inviting, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and Peet's with its own separate counter inside, to order coffee and beverages. Parking plentiful in the lot too.

I like their sandwiches. My usual is chickpea vegetarian and kids love the pulled chicken. I prefer their iPad driven ordering system. I can adjust the ingredients. Over the last couple of years, they have been making a lot of mistakes though. Like yesterday they forgot to add pickle that my kid had added. Minor annoyance, but would have preferred attention to detail. Also the tables are small and kinda sticky. They really need to do deep cleaning. Quantity is pretty good and taste is consistent. Will do takeout next time.

I was devastated when the Specialty's locations all closed down, but so happy this one re-opened. We had boxed lunches catered, and they were on time and filled all of our bellies. The caprese sandwich has always been my favorite, filled to the brim with plenty of ingredients on that perfect foccacia bread. I nabbed a box that had their chocolate chip cookie which is hands down, one of the best cookies you can ever get.

I had discovered Specialty's the year before COVID and was addicted to their sandwiches and cookies. Unfortunately, the pandemic had caused them to very quickly shut down all their locations to my dismay. However, I found out this location in Mountain View was the only one standing and knew I needed to go back for nostalgia's sake. The familiarity of the cafe made me smile as soon as I walked in. Seeing the display of baked goods triggered happy memories and I needed to get my hands on my favorite oatmeal wheat germ chocolate chip cookie. I also ordered a latte and my go to pesto Turkey sandwich. Everything was flawless and exactly what I wanted. I missed the cookie so much and was thrilled to be able to eat it again. The taste and texture is unbeatable and pairs perfectly with the latte. The pesto Turkey was a little different than what I remembered (sliced green bell peppers?) but it was still tasty. I like how it's loaded with greens and the pesto spread is to die for. Happy to be reunited with a classic and will be coming back again and again.

My review is for a group company order. We ordered lunch boxes, and I selected the Pot Roast Beef sandwich with chips and a cookie. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the sandwich--the bread was hard, and the cheese tasted stale. I couldn't continue eating it because the sandwich was cold. On a positive note, I did enjoy the cookie and chips. However, based on this experience, I will not be placing orders here again.

My go to Specialty's was at Mission Square in Santa Clara. I was happy to find this location open! I would always get the Sausage Breakfast Sandwhich. Found out today that it is no longer made. So instead I opted for the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich. I asked him what kind of cheese does it have and said I would have to add it! No cheese on the sandwich? Picture on menu shows it. Perhaps it's a "serving suggestion?" Any case, I added the cheese. Food was ready in a few minutes and got it to go. I was pleasantly surprised on how good it was. The potato bun was great. I would come back. Saw other Yelpers post about Salted Rye Whisky Dark Chocolate Cookies. None were in the case

I was very sad when Specialty's closed all their stores as a result of the pandemic. So imagine how I felt when they reopened this one store March 2021 in Mountain View. When will I have a chance to be in Mountain View though. So when we took the Ellis St off-ramp heading to a nearby golf course what did I spot? Yep Specialty's. But hubby kept driving. That was more than a year ago. So yesterday we were going golfing and I knew we'd be passing by. I plugged in the address on my phone so hubby had no excuse. Drove directly into the parking lot at 6:50am. They open at 7am. Open open open. It worked. They opened at 6:55am. I went inside. Already a customer ahead of me. My turn. Peanut butter chocolate chip cookie please. To my dismay they don't make it anymore. They have the oatmeal wheat germ chocolate chip, the black and white, the salted rye whiskey chocolate chip, and the semi sweet chocolate and milk chocolate chip. I went with three semi sweet chocolate chip cookies. Packaged in a nice cardboard box. It wasn't until after dinner that I had a chance to open the box. Do you recall the cookies used to be like chunky blocks. Now they more like traditional shaped cookies. Tasted the same. Plenty of chocolate in my cookie. Hoping they'll expand locations. If not at least they're back and running.

Specialty's...oh how I love you so. You broke my heart when you closed, but now my heart is mended knowing that you have reopened a location in the Bay! I have fond memories of when I used to work in the City and I would stop by for my cookie fix before heading back home on BART. I was in the area for work and I decided that I would stop by to pick up a couple of cookies to bring back home. The bakery is located near the Google campus off of 101. I came when they opened at 7am and that had a good selection of baked goods. There's also a Peet's coffee inside which is a plus! My favs are the Wheat Germ Chocolate Chip Cookie and Chai Snickerdoodle. I loved their peanut butter and apple sandwich, but I didn't see that on the menu. I miss their boxed cookie mixes and Cookie Grams where you can send a friend a yummy treat. Please bring those back! Hope they reopen more locations and hopefully expand to the Central Valley. Also hoping they expand their weekend hours, as they are only open on weekdays.

Specialty's is a nice lunch spot that's out of the busy-ness in certain areas. It's quiet and peaceful if you need to get work done or just want a moment to yourself to enjoy lunch. The staff is very nice and they get your order out really quick. I usually get a turkey pesto sandwich and an iced vanilla latte from Pete's since it's located inside (which is convenient!). I will say it does get pricey, but it's an easy and great place to grab a quick bite!

I really appreciate the selection of drinks they have, ranging from fun flavored lattes like tiramisu and burnt brown sugar to matchas, hojichas, and classic cafe staples like americanos and flat whites. Everything I've had here has been delicious and always hits the spot. They also have a range of food and toasts you can order. I recently got the ricotta and honey toast, which was delicious and light! Heads up, though, as expected, they do run low on stock later in the day. I came around 2 PM, and there were maybe four baked goods left. Overall, it's a great choice, and if you're in the area, definitely check them out.

Okay but... a hotel coffee shop with good matcha? That's the plot twist I didn't know I needed…read more We stopped here on my way out of Santa Clara heading to San Francisco -- it's conveniently close to a bunch of other spots, and since it's tucked inside a hotel, parking was ridiculously easy. (Underrated luxury.) Now, the hotel itself? Visually... a moment. It looked like someone invested serious money into it, but the design felt a little space-meets-startup-meets-what's-happening-here. Some elements felt elevated, others felt a bit makeshift. I genuinely couldn't tell what the theme was -- futuristic? celestial? boutique-on-a-budget? I'm still processing. The front desk team was clearly well-trained and knowledgeable -- they had every answer, every stat, every rate breakdown ready. But the warmth? Missing. I was hoping for a little storytelling since I'd never heard of the hotel before, and instead got a very matter-of-fact "we've been here five years" energy. Efficient, yes. Inviting, not quite. But let's talk about why you're really here: the coffee shop. Completely different vibe. Two people working, both genuinely happy, welcoming, and quick. We ordered a latte and a matcha to go -- total was about $22, which made me blink for a second -- but then I tasted the matcha. Oh. This wasn't the overly sweet, dusty-green situation you sometimes get. It tasted clean. Real. High-quality. The kind of matcha that feels intentional. I love Firehouse in Marin, but this? This was closer to serious coffee roaster-level quality. Smooth, organic-tasting, beautifully balanced. You could tell they care about what they're serving. Branding was strong, the space was cute, and I could absolutely see myself sitting there with my laptop pretending I'm writing something important. We grabbed ours to go, but it had that easy, airy, "stay awhile" energy. Would I book the hotel? Jury's still out. They don't have an in-house spa and mentioned bringing in third-party services for certain amenities, which made it feel a little less full-service than I expected. Would I go back for the coffee shop? Without hesitation. Delicious drinks, easy parking, quick service, and a vibe that actually makes you want to come back. Sometimes the side character steals the show -- and in this case, it's 100% the matcha.

Because, once again, I was distracted by the quality of the food, and there would be no way for me to do anything else, but to eat! Today, I was in the mood for something more than a salad (much as I wanted to preset what I had the first time coming here, I made a concerted effort to order something else...), thus I chose the Forager Flatbread. It took less time to make this time (roughly about five minutes after ordering), and when it came out, I marveled at how it looked like a work of art! Just beautiful! Each piece of herbed formage blanc flatbread had a nice, crunchy bottom (but not blackened) and a slightly tanginess, with a a good amount of "hen-of-the-wood" mushrooms, sweet roasted garlic and a bed of arugula. My, oh, my! My first bite was a multi-level extravaganza! The crunch of the bread, followed by the aroma of the herbs and arugula, then the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the roasted garlic, the earthiness of the mushrooms - all came together as just a wonderful work of culinary art! This being my first time eating today, my saliva glands just fired off at first bite, causing a bit of intense pain from too much saliva shooting out. But, seriously, this was a very delicious entree, that I enjoyed from start to finish! Bravo for this second joyous experience!
