    Chicken pesto sandwich
    Nancy L.

My boyfriend got the chicken pesto sandwich. Wow! Was I pleasantly surprised! The bread was slightly toasted and very light and airy. Great balance of pesto , chicken , lettuce and tomatoes. The only thing is that it took a long time to get the order. But overall I would definitely come back.

I love coming here with my co-teacher. We like getting our sandwiches here. Their service is quick. In the mornings and lunch time, they are typically packed.

    Mozzarella, Tomato, & Pesto Salad

Vegetarian/vegan reviewer: I've tried the Mozzarella, tomato and pesto salad and it was pretty good. It had some glaze, crunch, tomatoes, yummy mozzarella chunks and maybe a few diced cucumbers. My only complaint was the salad had too much of spring mix and very few cherry tomatoes/cucumbers-really liked the crunch of the kroutons though. I really liked the salad combo as it tasted like healthy caprese. Came with a bread on the side, so it was a decent fill for lunch. I would recommend this salad :) I've tried their snickerdoodle cookie and wouldn't recommend as it was too sweet. Can't comment on the ambience for now as I haven't visited the place yet! :)

Love this place--super fresh sandwiches and soups, salads, etc and they make everything fast, not "fast food," but freshly fast :-) Their tuna salad on nine grain bread would have been better by adding celery but it's a small thing and the quality can't be beat. Also got their bowl of lentil vegetable in a rich tomato broth, wow the flavors robust and packed a punch without heat. River prices are super fair and the ambience inside and patio terrifically conductive. Service helpful and friendly. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

This is what I got for a side with my tiny sandwich. I threw it out because it tasted and looked spoiled.

Extremely overpriced and the food tastes outdated. It costs over 50 dollars for 2 sandwiches. The sides that come with the meals are... Get this... 1 teaspoon of coleslaw or pasta. That's all you get. Only 1 teaspoon for a side. You're literally paying 50 bucks for a teaspoon of bland coleslaw and a tiny sandwich. The bread isn't fresh anymore either. It sits out all day. My coleslaw was yellow. This place needs better management and it's not worth 50 dollars for 2 tiny sandwiches with a spoonful for a side.

I ordered a california fresh sandwich today and the Sofi is quality is very poor. The bread is so stale that I could not take it after a few bites. It's a shame that this used to be my favorite sandwich in this shop .

I haven't been to this particular café in such a long time and it's perfectly on the corner in downtown Los Gatos! I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a digital menu with rotating pictures and a paper menu. I can also hold as well as a QR code this particular location is on the corner and has an abundance of seating. The server was relatively quick, and there were at least four employees in the back, wearing gloves as they made sandwiches. I appreciated how fast they worked, and how clean the cashier, kept the open dining area. There were also tables outside for people to sit in, but it was rather warm this particular day, and everybody seemed to be inside. I loved my chicken chipotle sandwich I believe it also had avocado and I was able to add spinach and lettuce to this particular hot sandwich and it was so filling and delicious. I will look for a picture because I swear I took one! Lol they're mild coffee seemed a bit too strong for me, but I have a very weak stomach for acidity and coffee. I will definitely be back again!

Le Boulanger downtown Los Altos Today? Just coffee with a side of contemplation about good old pre-pandemic times, when lively crowds buzzed about in and around Le Boulanger. Boulangerie, Pâtisserie, Viennoiserie? Bakery, classic pastry shop, or breakfast Vienna pastries, the bridge between pâtisserie and French bread? Viennoiseries such as croissants and brioche are sold at Le Boulanger in the morning. We're all familiar with Le Boulanger's classic savory sandwiches, salads, soups, or sandwich with small salad or cup of soup combos. This location in my downtown Los Altos has comfy seating outside. Inviting couches and armchairs in addition to regular tables offer plenty of space for you to have your meal. Insides are open and clean, Covid precautions are taken, counters are immaculate, menu boards are clear and easy to order from, food freshly prepared. Common over, eat here, you'll thank me later! Some of them don't even go to any other bakery besides this one and as such, I was excited to try their pastries. I got a combination of both basic items such as their croissant and their more decorative items such as their Paris Brest. The fundamental difference between American pastries and their French counterparts is that the latter are much less heavy and sweet and in that sense, Maison Alyzee does a good job. However, that quality really isn't that important to me unless I'm making baked goods at home or having them at a friend's. When it comes to a bakery, I care more about nuanced flavors, tastes, and textures and in those aspects, this place didn't really blow me away. To put it this way, I would rather travel to Midwife and the Baker and have one of their croissants at a cheaper price even if it may be more of a sugar bomb. I was actually contemplating knocking off another star because of how much the pastries cost an arm and a leg (almost $10+ for some of the individual items). In the end, I decided against it because this bakery is the first I've visited where the pastries both look nice AND taste good (Paris Baguette and Alexander's Patisserie, take note). Overall, this place is good if you are looking for pastries that both look and taste nice. Perhaps my palate is just not sophisticated enough but I just don't get any unique taste that warrants them being the most authentic French patisserie in the area. Personally, I would visit Midwife, Craftsman, and (soon) Arsicault in Palo Alto to get a more "quality' pastry.

I ordered an apple croissant, banana chocolate croissant, kouign-amann, baguette sandwich, and an iced mocha. It took a while for my breakfast to arrive. The iced mocha was warm because the ice had melted, but it was easy enough to fix with ice from my freezer. I'm pretty sure it had no coffee in it, just oat milk and hazelnut dark chocolate, which was perfect in my book. I drank it fast. It was my first time trying a kouign-amann, and I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about. After a couple of bites I moved on to the apple croissant, which had almond cream and a cinnamon apple compote in it. It was delicious, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. Next was the banana chocolate croissant. I was disappointed when I cut it in half and saw how little chocolate there was inside of it, but once I tasted it I realized it was just right. The bananas and almond cream were very, very sweet. It was scrumptious with powdered sugar and sliced almonds on top. Later in the day I tried the baguette sandwich, which had Brie, sliced apples, jambon, arugula, mustard, and garlic aioli on it. It was good at first, but then I had to remove the Brie because it overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. The apple tasted great, but I pretty much love anything with apples on it. All in all it was an interesting breakfast and I'd gladly return to try more of their sandwiches and desserts.

As for flavor the Fleur de Pistache was good - texture was great but I do wish it had a heavier pistachio flavor. The Mango croissant was crispy and fresh. Both items weren't overly sweet which is what I look for in pastries/desserts so I appreciate that. I didn't get a coffee this time around so I can't speak on that, but I'll be back again to try the coffee and their other pastries. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the visit!

Don't sleep on the black pepper sausage danish: the croissant dough is crisp and flaky, and doesn't get soggy when baked around the sausage. It's comparable in execution to the Croissant Hot Dog served at Dominique Ansel Las Vegas (in Caesar's Palace), but at a way more accessible price point. Which isn't to say this place is cheap; like many artisanal bakeries in California, it comes with a premium price tag, but at least it's not Dominique Ansel pricy. Croissante's croissant dough baked goods (viennoiserie) is pun-intended "proof" that you get what you pay for. The dining space is limited and lively. Conversing is a little tough, but if you just need a place to sit while eating, it's just right. Extra special shout out this time to Dill who had informed me the fried chicken dishes today would be an hour and a half wait. After deciding there wasn't anything I wanted more than the Fried Chicken and Spiced Croffle (croissant dough baked in a waffle iron) and was happy to wait, they were nice enough to check in with the kitchen and see if it could be made sooner than that. I didn't expect to be accommodated, so I was happy they were able to do that. You get two chicken thighs and croffles per order. It's enough for two light eaters to share.
