Vegan red velvet cupcake, Vegan White chocolate macadamia nut cookie
Cynthia P.

I was very excited to try this bakery because i heard it had a good amount of vegan options! Service was quick. It was an in and out experience. I ended up getting the vegan red velvet cupcake and vegan white chocolate macadamia cookie. The frosting of the cupcake was a bit too sweet for me, but the cake was absolutely delicious! The cookie was very soft and crunchy at the same time. The macadamia nuts was salty. Overall, I would come back to try more other vegan options.

If you want a cupcake that's like other cupcakes this is the place to go. You definitely won't tell a difference between a regular or gluten free. Service is good I went in when it was busy. I like being able to see them decorate the cupcakes! It is small and no seating inside but outside seating available 2 tables and a bench. The coffee is good too I just didn't get one this trip.

Chocolate Chip Cookie (GF-V-DF), blueberry streusel muffin (GF-V-DF), apple tart (GF)

I loved this little shop and their pastries are so good! Since we were new here we asked for recommendations. We ended up getting a chocolate chip cookie, blueberry streusel muffin, and an apple tart (which we ate later that night). The cookie was so good. The base of the cookie was soft and crumbly. The blueberry muffin was just as good! It was soft, moist, and melted in your mouth. Usually gluten free, dairy free and vegan muffins taste dry and sucks up all moisture in your mouth because they are so dry. We were just as surprised with the tart on how good it was! The tart was eaten here and there because it was a bit sweet for us but very good. I can't wait to go back. The staff was so nice and patient with us ordering and answering our questions. Great little gem of place to get some great pastries!

Tasty and healthier than the usual options. I will take it! Sweet Diplomacy makes everything gluten-free, with loads of vegan, paleo, and nut-free options--perfect for anyone with dietary needs. The vegan brownie was awesome. Very friendly girl at the counter.

Location: I didn't go to the storefront but loved that Sweet Diplomacy ships their goodies nationwide! Super convenient as we were planning our Employee Appreciation Event! Pricing: $4.50/cookie sounds like a lot, but when considering that Sweet Diplomacy caters MANY food allergen/sensitivities that is SO difficult to find in baked goods. Worth every penny! Service: As we ordered a large amount of cookies for a special event, we were a little anxious about delivery. We did not receive any shipping confirmation or tracking number until the day before delivery AND we only received it after sending a follow-up email requesting for this information. Communication could improve. We appreciated that each cookie was individually wrapped, however some bags were open and the cookies were exposed to germs/open air. Need to improve quality control.. Also Maybe they should have their logo on the packaging? We printed our own signs to show support to the business. Food: Gingersnapperdoodle: 4/5 Ginger spice is very forward but a good blend of the gingersnap and snicker doodle. (Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, Vegan) Chocolate Chip: 5/5 My favorite part is the sea salt flakes and how they complement the cookie. (Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, Vegan) Cookies are a good size, very crunchy and crumble a little easy. I'd love to try other baked goods from Sweet Diplomacy!

A gluten free bakery? Hooray!!! I don't live very close, but I always try to support gluten free businesses, so I was sure to stop when I was in the neighborhood. I got a couple cupcakes and the paleo carrot muffin. The two things I had to go were packaged safely in a box. The cupcake was beautiful but a little dry, the carrot muffin was amazing!! I will definitely come for those again! I tried to take photos of all of the offerings - we were there a little later in the afternoon.

Madagascar Vanillla Cupcake, Blueberry Coffee Cake, Ube Creme Puff, Madeline, Vegan Brownie

Okay where to start! This place was a gluten-free individual's heaven! SO MANY options! The pastries not only looked amazing but TASTED amazing and didn't have that gross gluten-free taste other bakeries have. They have so many tasty treats. Like the cinnamon roll was DIVINE. (But they only do them on Sundays I guess) We also got: ube creme puff, vanilla cupcake, Madeline, vegan brownie and blueberry coffee cake. I practically swallowed the brownie and coffee cake whole, they were so good. The vegan options were equally amazing...that brownie was out of this world good. So rich and dark. (Ok great I'm salivating again) It was a very quaint, cute little shop. The servers were super sweet and kind and patient while I took a whole century to decide. Everything was moderately priced for being gluten free. And I loved the cinnamon roll latte the cashier recommended. It was so amazing, 100% going back as soon as I'm in the area again! Plus they ship on their website and their IG is so cute! Follow them so amazing!

This is a very cute little dedicated gluten free bakery in downtown Los Altos. I arrived at the bakery right when they opened, and was greeted warmly by the staff. Their selection of gluten free and other allergy friendly baked goods was overwhelming! Today I opted for a lemon poppyseed muffin (which I inhaled almost immediately) and an egg custard tart which I am saving for tomorrow. I am super excited to try the tart since I thought I'd never get to eat an egg custard tart again after going gluten free! They also serve delicious flavored lattes. I tried the seasonal honey cardamom latte and it was delicious. I think I'll have to come here every week to try to sample all of their tasty gluten free treats.

Gluten free and vegan cookies

I received a box of sugar free, vegan and gluten-free cookies from a friend. The cookies in the package remained intact but 3 individual compostable plastic packaging came apart! Some cookies were exposed to air during transit. After warming the cookies in the oven, they have a crunch to each bite but have a different mouthfeel-grainy texture. It is good to know that these specialty cookies exist and can be shipped nationwide.

This place is to die for! My husband has celiac disease, when he first found out he was so sad because he thought he'd never be able to have cupcakes or pastries again. Enter Sweet Diplomacy! They have a wide variety of delicious gluten-free sweets! My husband loves cupcakes so in this visit, I bought three of the Madagascar vanilla cupcakes, and I absolutely love anything lemon poppyseed so I also grabbed a lemon poppyseed muffin for myself. We are frequent flyers and will continue to come here just because it's so nice to have a gluten-free and celiac safe pastry spot. Excellent!

Lovely allergy safe bakery with fantastic baked goods! Friendly helpful staff that answered all my questions about what allergens are in each item. They are also quite clearly labeled and separated. They list which items have nuts or dairy in them. Everything appeared to be gluten free.

Ask the Community - Sweet Diplomacy

Hi there are there sugar free goods?

Hello Arleen! While we do not sell sugar-free pastries in-store, you can email us to place a special order.

Can somebody tell me how the challah is? Is it sweet, eggy, light and fluffy or denser, keeps well or goes stale easily?

Very dense and dry.

Is there anywhere I can see ingredients for a product(s)?

Hi Bobbie, thank you for asking. You can find ingredients for all our products on our website!

Are there fructose free cake options?

Are there in-store vegan options? I understand it's possible to get made to order.

Yes, they typically have a muffin, and sometimes a cupcake and one other option. Not much though.

Are there keto options?

Yes! They only have one cake right now (https://www.sweetdiplomacy.com/shop/62) but I'm sure they'll add some more options in the future! They also have paleo, vegan, GF options.

Are you open during the shelter in placr?

Hi Siri, we are currently closed during shelter in place.

When does the Los Altos store? Hoping you will be taking orders for Thanksgiving.

Melanie, the owner, recently advised me that the store is hoping to open around thanksgiving time.

Do you have vegan & gluten free cake?

We offer gluten-free and vegan cakes for special order! You wouldn't have to choose between gluten-free OR vegan, as we offer gluten-free AND vegan cakes and other baked goods. Hop on over to our website at sweetdiplomacy.com and fill out the order… Read more

I ordered an apple croissant, banana chocolate croissant, kouign-amann, baguette sandwich, and an iced mocha. It took a while for my breakfast to arrive. The iced mocha was warm because the ice had melted, but it was easy enough to fix with ice from my freezer. I'm pretty sure it had no coffee in it, just oat milk and hazelnut dark chocolate, which was perfect in my book. I drank it fast. It was my first time trying a kouign-amann, and I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about. After a couple of bites I moved on to the apple croissant, which had almond cream and a cinnamon apple compote in it. It was delicious, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. Next was the banana chocolate croissant. I was disappointed when I cut it in half and saw how little chocolate there was inside of it, but once I tasted it I realized it was just right. The bananas and almond cream were very, very sweet. It was scrumptious with powdered sugar and sliced almonds on top. Later in the day I tried the baguette sandwich, which had Brie, sliced apples, jambon, arugula, mustard, and garlic aioli on it. It was good at first, but then I had to remove the Brie because it overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. The apple tasted great, but I pretty much love anything with apples on it. All in all it was an interesting breakfast and I'd gladly return to try more of their sandwiches and desserts.

Nearly ALL of my European clients and friends have raved about Maison Alyzee as being the most…read moreauthentic French patisserie in the area. Some of them don't even go to any other bakery besides this one and as such, I was excited to try their pastries. I got a combination of both basic items such as their croissant and their more decorative items such as their Paris Brest. The fundamental difference between American pastries and their French counterparts is that the latter are much less heavy and sweet and in that sense, Maison Alyzee does a good job. However, that quality really isn't that important to me unless I'm making baked goods at home or having them at a friend's. When it comes to a bakery, I care more about nuanced flavors, tastes, and textures and in those aspects, this place didn't really blow me away. To put it this way, I would rather travel to Midwife and the Baker and have one of their croissants at a cheaper price even if it may be more of a sugar bomb. I was actually contemplating knocking off another star because of how much the pastries cost an arm and a leg (almost $10+ for some of the individual items). In the end, I decided against it because this bakery is the first I've visited where the pastries both look nice AND taste good (Paris Baguette and Alexander's Patisserie, take note). Overall, this place is good if you are looking for pastries that both look and taste nice. Perhaps my palate is just not sophisticated enough but I just don't get any unique taste that warrants them being the most authentic French patisserie in the area. Personally, I would visit Midwife, Craftsman, and (soon) Arsicault in Palo Alto to get a more "quality' pastry.

Not only was it very busy at 6 PM on a Friday night, but the staff was super friendly, and they brought our items to our table outside. We cut everything in thirds. The Signature Chocolate Tart was very dense and fudgy and had a very fine layer of crushed hazelnuts that you really couldn't see but you could could enjoy the texture difference. A tiny flake of gold on top really made it classy. The Lemon Custard Tart was beautiful. Very light, not too sweet, and had a beautiful lemon tang which we all loved. A nice thin crust as well. The Pecan Cinnamon Roll was nice, but it was a tad on the dry side. It was thick and the top was sticky and yummy, but I feel like the interior could've been a little bit more moist. Maybe put some of that sticky stuff in there, lol! All in all, it was wonderful and we will be back.
