Okay but... a hotel coffee shop with good matcha? That's the plot twist I didn't know I needed. We stopped here on my way out of Santa Clara heading to San Francisco -- it's conveniently close to a bunch of other spots, and since it's tucked inside a hotel, parking was ridiculously easy. (Underrated luxury.) Now, the hotel itself? Visually... a moment. It looked like someone invested serious money into it, but the design felt a little space-meets-startup-meets-what's-happening-here. Some elements felt elevated, others felt a bit makeshift. I genuinely couldn't tell what the theme was -- futuristic? celestial? boutique-on-a-budget? I'm still processing. The front desk team was clearly well-trained and knowledgeable -- they had every answer, every stat, every rate breakdown ready. But the warmth? Missing. I was hoping for a little storytelling since I'd never heard of the hotel before, and instead got a very matter-of-fact "we've been here five years" energy. Efficient, yes. Inviting, not quite. But let's talk about why you're really here: the coffee shop. Completely different vibe. Two people working, both genuinely happy, welcoming, and quick. We ordered a latte and a matcha to go -- total was about $22, which made me blink for a second -- but then I tasted the matcha. Oh. This wasn't the overly sweet, dusty-green situation you sometimes get. It tasted clean. Real. High-quality. The kind of matcha that feels intentional. I love Firehouse in Marin, but this? This was closer to serious coffee roaster-level quality. Smooth, organic-tasting, beautifully balanced. You could tell they care about what they're serving. Branding was strong, the space was cute, and I could absolutely see myself sitting there with my laptop pretending I'm writing something important. We grabbed ours to go, but it had that easy, airy, "stay awhile" energy. Would I book the hotel? Jury's still out. They don't have an in-house spa and mentioned bringing in third-party services for certain amenities, which made it feel a little less full-service than I expected. Would I go back for the coffee shop? Without hesitation. Delicious drinks, easy parking, quick service, and a vibe that actually makes you want to come back. This is my second time eating here at The Flyby, and I did the smart thing - I did not bring my work with me! Because, once again, I was distracted by the quality of the food, and there would be no way for me to do anything else, but to eat! Today, I was in the mood for something more than a salad (much as I wanted to preset what I had the first time coming here, I made a concerted effort to order something else...), thus I chose the Forager Flatbread. It took less time to make this time (roughly about five minutes after ordering), and when it came out, I marveled at how it looked like a work of art! Just beautiful! Each piece of herbed formage blanc flatbread had a nice, crunchy bottom (but not blackened) and a slightly tanginess, with a a good amount of "hen-of-the-wood" mushrooms, sweet roasted garlic and a bed of arugula. My, oh, my! My first bite was a multi-level extravaganza! The crunch of the bread, followed by the aroma of the herbs and arugula, then the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the roasted garlic, the earthiness of the mushrooms - all came together as just a wonderful work of culinary art! This being my first time eating today, my saliva glands just fired off at first bite, causing a bit of intense pain from too much saliva shooting out. I didn't realize this cafe was inside a hotel but I would say that the ambiance and the environment is phenomenal for getting good work. The lighting is not too dim for you to fall asleep but ensures a nice calm environment. We tried their matcha and mocha. Unfortunately, their matcha was really bad and just tasted like milk. This cafe is located inside the ameswell Hotel, which has a really large lounge area and seems really very made and decorated. The day I visited the Cafe menu wasn't working, but it's mostly basic fare like latte americano expresso and drip. They use Colombe coffee. Ate lunch here. The place is a small - very small. It is actually lost in the large hotel it resides in. But the food turned out to be excellent. The fries were very good and the burger was outstanding. The seating was also very well done. Quite a surprise. Held a lunch meeting here and surprised how accommodating the place was. Ditto. It's a great hotel coffee shop, but not exactly an artisan coffee shop. The coffee menu has the basic espresso drinks. Think latte, mocha, and the like. They have black coffee, with a lower case b. And they have some lemonades. My chai latte was decent. The pastries are good, from Manressa bread. Again, great quality and selection for a hotel lobby (and better than Starbucks), but still not quite there yet. Still, i loved my chocolate croissant. The burgers are great! I usually balk at the hotel burger price, but this one is really good. When adding the ambiance, it's not hard to justify the $18. No tip requires since you pick it up at the counter and bus your own table. In the lobby they have decent Wi-Fi, some good table seating with power outlets, and no one bothers you. read more

Hidden gem. How can you not like this wonderful and beautiful cafe place? Warm, cozy, friendly, modern, luxurious, clean, positive vibes everywhere, etc. There's free three hours parking to the left side of the hotel entrance doors. No need to enter garage. Cafe is inside the hotel lobby or enter from patio area doors from the restaurant/bar side. Staffs are welcoming and well trained. Toss your own trash and trays/utensils into designated bin area. Good upkeep. Best of all, this cafe has great varieties of pastries, breakfast items, holiday beverages, and more. There's definitely plenty of great views with lots of tables & chairs to choose from. Christmas vibes everywhere. Must love. Excellent interior design of the entire building. Pumpkin spice latte looks/tastes great for the cup value. Chocolate bread was a bit smaller in size than most bakeries, but it tastes perfect. Croissants and muffins looked lovely. I had a very delicious avocado toast that came with breakfast potato wedges. Excellent presentation and huge food portions. Avocado toast was too beautiful to eat with many pieces of cherry tomatoes on it. Potato wedges exceeded my expectations for cafe quality. It's hotel quality good. Crispy, tender, colorful. Sweet caramelized onions were made to perfection too. Good chef. There's nothing I disliked. Guests and customers were all working professionals. Very good feeling inside. The atmosphere was comfortable for my friend and I to enjoy brunch and have a nice conversation. The service is exceptional super fast and considerate. The food though is a little okay. The popcorn chicken has actual popcorn which sounds innovative but the combination just didn't work. Amazing new coffee shop in the heart of Mountain View. Conveniently located right off 101, it's an easy walk from the EV chargers at NASA Ames visitor center. If you don't mind slower L2 charging, there are plenty of onsite chargers available right at the coffee shop as well. This coffee shop is inside the Ameswell hotel. The overall design is reminiscent of what you would find at a Google office both inside and out. The coffee and pastries here are delicious. So far I've had their latte, cappuccino, croissant, chocolate croissant, and danish. All the coffee and pastries were top notch. The beans are from La Colombe, my favorite Philly based coffee place. If I was staying at the hotel I'd be ecstatic at how nice their coffee was, but as someone who saw the reviews only and drove to try it out, it is a very disappointing experience. La Colombe coffee and some pre-bought baked goods are totally satisfactory but not special or anything to write home about, and if I'd known it was just a hotel coffee shop (I should've read the reviews instead of just seeing the 4.5 stars!) The American scramble is delicious and so much food. Underneath it all are fries from the Roger which are basically thick cut chips . The combo of the fresh arugula, tomatoes and capers with the egg, bacon and potatoes is unexpected but works well. It feels lighter than it is with the combo of fresh veggies. read more

The coffee is great, there are lovely pastries and quick things to pick up, and the more extensive cooked breakfast choices are excellent. I had the vegan cooked breakfast, which was a great tofu/ quinoa scramble which included carmelized onions, avocado, wonderfully cooked sweet potato, and more. The lunch salads (I had a chopped salad with feta) could be embellished with added protein and were fine quality. All of the ingredients are locally sourced and organic. I stayed at the Ameswell Hotel, which sticks out because it is so well designed. Truly comfortable beds and quiet rooms mean a great night's sleep, even for overseas visitors. It is full of beautiful, thoughtful details, some reflecting its NASA Ames Research Center proximity, but never feels like it's simply trying to impress. Somehow the hotel manages to shoehorn itself into a convenient location while still having outdoor playing space (bocce, bags, and other lawn games) and a salt water pool. Great new cafe at the Ameswell hotel. Just off the Stevens Creek trail by the 101 underpass, it's a great place to grab a bite on your way to work. They have a range of hot breakfast/lunch options--I had an excellent vegan avocado toast, and the various egg scramble choices also looked very tempting. The service is friendly and efficient, and there is lots of quiet, comfortable table space (indoor and outdoor ), with outlets everywhere and fast wifi. And most importantly, the coffee is fantastic!
