I hadn't been to Red Rock for years. While almost everything on Castro Street has changed, this place is still there, so they must be doing something right. I ordered a small cold latte with oatmilk, and it was about $10, including tip. And it was pretty small, and also served on ice. It was fine, but I felt like it was pretty expensive for what I got. Standard coffee shop experience. It was quite busy on a Monday morning. I think its main perk is its convenient location on Castro Street. The service was standard. I ordered a latte, which had a pretty design and tasted solid. I would not recommend the food - the croissant and waffle were a pretty penny and tasted quite stale. There's a second floor, with lots of tables and a quiet environment. This is definitely a good spot to do work. I was having really high hopes for this coffee place, but honestly it left me a little disappointed and thrown off. It came at me to no surprise that this place was going to be packed with people on a Sunday morning -- but what I did not expect was the passive aggressiveness that was given to me by the barista taking my order at the table -- only to be nice to all the other patrons coming in the door. Please do better next time. On the flip side though, the lavender honey latte was good. It wasn't too sweet, but it also had a very slick and creamy taste to it as well. I especially liked the latte art that they put as well. I actually loved the aesthetic of the coffee shop in itself -- and I also didn't know that there was a second floor to this shop! The vibes here are cool. I haven't tried their coffee yet, but I came here to watch their open mic that they have every Monday 6-9pm. Most were performing not stand up, but it was quite entertaining to support the local artists. Some were really good. I tried their a slice of their chocolate pound cake which was so so. The location is great because it's in downtown Mountain View. I'll be coming back with my laptop next time and to try their coffee. Only downside is that there is only one bathroom there and it's coed. read more

Came here around 1130 AM to meet up with ex co worker before my wifey and I plan to move to manhattan by end of a July It was a fine Sunday morning. Came inside with plenty of spacious standing. The counter lady was extremely nice and patient. I got the iced coffee and it was a 8:10. Can't complain. Good for prices. My wife got an oat milk Latte 10oz - The beans in the espresso is def not at the level of others, therefore we rated it 6/10. Overall though, our centers are pretty high so when I mention the scores here, please round up by two because - Inside Outside Customer service Price Surrounding neighborhood We're all excellence and therefore my ratings were purely on the drinks. There's plenty of choices in downtown Mountain View for coffee. However, Red Rock is a working coffee spot, for laptop toting work folks as it has free good WiFi (you'll get corporate-like speed of around 100+ Mbps down/15Mbps up, no problem, and there's no password, just join). Plenty of tables to setup for work. It does lack power outlets though (only a few tables have them). And yes, the drinks are just okay. The coffees and teas are all on the pricey side, and very so-so. For this visit, I got a Mango Black Iced Tea and could just barely taste the mango if I really imagined hard. Their pour overs however, are the better part of the menu that I've gotten in past visits. I would recommend sticking with pour over drinks. However for a working/hanging with a coworker spot it does this pretty well. Lighting is always nice, with minimal harsh lights through the windows on your laptop's screen, and the crowd is almost always going to be trying to get work done too. Still, not a 5-star due to lack of power outlets and the drinks could have a more solid showing (stick to the pour overs!). If you're trying to work, avoid their events (calendar board is by the door). There's open mic, etc which fill up the shop on those event days. If you find it crowded when you walk in, there's an upstairs too and take a peek if there's a free table. Otherwise, there's always ample seating outside if you're really just at Red Rock for a coffee and not there to work. But really, I would only recommend Red Rock for working. Go elsewhere down the street for better drinks. read more

Red Rock is a landmark gathering place and coffee house occupying a happening corner of Mountain View. It's at an intersection that you might call the pulsing heart of downtown M.V. And the coffee drinks as well as other provisions are spot-on really good. Got a lavender latte and chocolate croissant, and both were delicious. The staff at the register are very nice, they'll make you whatever coffee creation you want, even if not exactly on the menu. They happily heated the croissant at my request. Pastries are from local vendors I think. At the register is a cold case full of a variety of beverages and savoury stuff like sandwiches and other snacks. The place has a very kool indie feeling, and music is a big part of the vibe. What they play throughout the coffee house is eclectic, mixing classic songs with current and old school with new stuff. Upstairs is a large, plain, very roomy space with many more tables and café chairs. They host live music on Mondays so local artists can perform and share their musical creations with an audience and each other. Whether for coffee or music, Red Rock coffee house really rocks. read more

Red Rock Coffee is a cozy and welcoming cafe split into two distinct vibes by its first and second floors. The first floor, home to the barista station and a few tables, is a lively space where guests flow in and out, likely grabbing quick orders. The second floor, filled with tables and a pleasant view from its many windows, sees much less foot traffic and is perfect for quiet studying (as evidenced by the laptops occupying almost every table). I hear there are live events here, as well, during certain times and dates; however, I visited sometime during noon, where no events were happening at the moment. Great cafe to work in, as they have lots of seating since they have an upstairs area. If you get a seat next to a window, it's also fun to people watch. I got a mocha, which was $6.50 for a 10 oz cup. The mocha was alright; a little bit gritty and not my favorite cup of mocha but not terrible. I did find the prices to be quite high, especially given that usually the standard "small" cup size is 12 oz. They do offer free water as well, which is a plus. They Will! They Will! Rock You! They got mugs in the place! With exceptional taste! Putting a smile all over this face! I'll tell you how this came about. I ordered the two specialty lattes which were the maple latte and the lavender. Both of them start off strong with coffee flavor but they ended with a soft touch of the flavor expected. I paired them up with a croissant filled with sweet chocolate. A freshly baked pastry always seems to go well with coffee well brewed. To make this experience more adventurous I found out they also have a second floor where they have some really cool events. The brunette young lady working in 4/11/24 took my order and I could tell by her attitude she wasn't hearing me or interested so I repeated my order several times. Specially requesting my coffee for here (I swear it's more delicious in glass than a paper cup). However, a paper cup sat on the bar for extended amount of time. I assumed it was not mine as mine was for here. I asked the name after seeing it for a while and was told it was for "nick". After seeing others come and go and about 20 minutes later- I asked to check on and initially I do believe her intention was to ignore me. The nice fella with glasses assisted and asked my order. Then a young man said "it was the cup that was sitting her for a while" so I advised that was not my order and they themselves told me it was for Nick. Overall, I WILL ALWAYS RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Does this chai get shipped in directly from a specialty market in the bougiest neighborhood of Mumbai? These bozos advertise that they were named "Best of Mountain View 2025." Mountain View must be offering up some pretty slim competition if a $14 cafe beverage garners a place any positive attention. Oh, and if you care at all about vibes, this spot's suck. It feels like you could get stuck in the worst collegiate conversation or witness the wackiest farmers market freakout of your life if you turn in any direction. Woke up, had breakfast and thought i'd take a walk. I ended up at Red Rock Coffee. I haven't had a bad latte here so i thought id go in. I treated myself to a caramel latte. Normally i avoid this as many baristas ( think chains ) put so much syrup in it overwhelms the lattes. That doesn't happen at Red Rock. I've been to Red Rock Coffee a few times and like to meet friends there as they have the downstairs and upstairs with lots of tables. I have found that if I want quiet, then upstairs is the place to be as most people are busy on their laptops(I did meet up with a friend there one time and felt bad that we were talking as it almost has a library vibe, at least in the morning). I like having their coffee (for here) because it just feels better to drink out of real cup and saucer. I have had their coffee cake and my friend had their cinnamon roll; both were good enough that I would order again. Getting there is a little weird now, since Covid, Castro street has blocked off many of the parking areas and street for outdoor dining. There is a parking lot behind the Cafe that usually has plenty of parking and once you know where you are going, it's pretty easy to get there. One of my favorite places to meet up with friends since it's centrally located(Mountain View) for people in the South Bay and on the Peninsula as well. read more

Literally a cornerstone coffee shop on Castro Street, Mountain View, this is the go-to coffee shop of mountain view, IMO. It always has an energetic vibe here and the baristas are dynamic and friendly. It is right near the farmer's market so it's a great place to go to before or after, or even bring one of the delicious pastries from the farmer market and enjoy with a coffee here. However, there is no lack of selection as far as accompaniments to your coffee here. The almonds croissant is quite distinctive and a specialty of theirs, as is there coffee cakes - I having a predilection for their blueberry coffee cake. They have plenty of seating both inside and out, though I have a preference to set one of their side tables alongside their classic granite building wall outside. On weekends though it can get pretty busy, so be prepared to stake out your table If you are in Mountain view looking for a coffee, you can't go wrong with this place. read more

This is a cute coffee shop. There's a big seating area upstairs but it kinda felt like a library with a ton of people but everyone talking a bit quietly. I got a mocha and thought it was decent. I felt like it could have been hotter temperature wise. They added whipped cream at the top but it looks a bit clumpy and lumpy and not really that appealing for some reason. Been coming here for many years, so this is the go-to spot for coffee with downtown Mountain View vibes. That said, from my morning to early afternoon chai latte with soy for 16 oz, my price for the drink changed with a regular cup to drink on site. The listed price for soy at 16oz is $7.50z Soy charge is 75 cents. It was $9.00 in the morning. My second cup which I brought back down and to order the same drink, ended up being $8.00. Thanks to the barista for the 0.25 hook up discount. My third cup ended up being $8.25, with the cup I brought back downstairs to be reused. The barista said the cup is a pricier charge, you get a discount for bringing your own up, and then kept it at 0.25 without the discount. I understand that there are pricing discounts and variance, but maybe have a sign for these discounts or charge differences? Some customer have no problem, including myself to use a disposal or bring in our own cups.
