The barista was so disrespectful to me it ruined my day. He was unwelcoming from the get-go, making snarky remarks and refusing to replace an inaccurate beverage due to "policy". He should not be working in customer service and if that is indeed the policy I strongly recommend avoiding this place. In more detail: I asked if the green tea latte was just a matcha latte, he said yes so I ordered it. I took a sip and it was super sweet. I asked him if I can get it unsweetened, he said no because it's a presweetened blend but "says matcha on the bag". I asked if I can get something else then and he said "not for free" as if I was trying to pull one over on him. He said it was "policy" because I already "took a sip" (just a sip mind, it's not like I drank half the thing). Basically acted like it was my fault even though I had asked before ordering and got a misleading answer, then refused to make any moves to correct it, then accused ME of being rude. He wouldn't give me his name, but this is the guy with the long triangle-shaped beard working on 08/29/26 afternoon. Plus the milk wasn't even foamed properly. I've never had this happen before, I'm not a confrontational person and would not have even requested a replacement if I hadn't specifically asked what the drink was up front. This was my go to for double espresso con panna years ago, actually decades. Until one young barista asked why I would I order a double espresso con panna. I thought that was a strange question. Then, he made the worst, most bitter double espresso con panna. I came by the Farmers market last week and I decided to give their espresso con panna another try. It was just fine! Now, if I'm in the area, I will not have a problem ordering a double espresso con panna here. I like the taste of strong coffee. Cafe usually has a small amount of people inside and out. I had a pleasant experience at the Bean Scene Cafe this past Friday. Parking is free and plentiful in the surrounding lots. There was no wait to order at the counter, and about 15 minutes for my food to be served to my table around lunch time. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I got the sausage & cheese omelette (with provolone instead of swiss), pancakes without syrup, and an iced mocha with nonfat milk. Wow, everything was amazing. The iced mocha had strong flavors of coffee and mocha. The side of pancakes came with a stack of two good-sized fluffy and buttery pieces, a yummy treat. The omelette was tasty, with the ingredients spread nicely making every single bite a savory delight. The dish came with toast which I discarded since I already had the pancakes. We swung by bean scene cafe for a quick breakfast. Luckily this cafe opens early compared to others in the area. We got the almond joy mocha and the Black Forest mocha. We also got everything bagels with cream cheese. The service was super fast. We expected the service to take longer cz of the line and were left pleasantly surprised. The mochas tasted amazing and the bagels were surprisingly fresh. The ambience is a bit dated but we noticed a lot of people coming in here to work cz of the abundant seating. Definitely your neighborhood coffee shop. Family owned with a great staff. They are personable, professional, and they make you feel like a regular. My regular is an espresso and (sometimes) a biscotti. Over the years I actually haven't eaten here, but we have had pastries & desserts, which are very good! There is local art on the walls and an old school coffee shop feel inside. There are plenty of tables outside, but it can get busy on weekends. Luckily, there are plenty of benches around and there's nothing wrong with grabbing a seat on the curb since the street is closed to cars. read more

I went there yesterday, and I had a large Latte, and my friend had a two-shot Espresso Macchiato. I will say that it was very nice and just perfect for an ending of an awesome lunch across the way. Went to the local farmers market, afterwards we stopped by to get a coffee to go. We saw people sitting at the tables,but no line to order. Not a good sign for a location like this on a Saturday morning. We ordered a couple of lattes, mine tasted very week. Bean scene is so cozy and homey. I had the avocado toast on sourdough with fruit on the side. The fruit was fresh and delicious. I like to watch my sodium intake I didn't realize the sea salt flakes on the avocado toast made it sooo salty, it was delicious but I personally cannot have salt. I didn't realize this when I first ordered. I nonetheless finished it but I think it important to note if you care about that. I've had the Black Forest mocha, and the green tea latte (matcha) and I I think they are great drinks but not something I would say is outstanding. This is one of the coffee shops I would frequent whenever I'm in Sunnyvale/Mountain View area. Come primarily for their coffee. They have many latte varieties including this Black Forest Mocha which you don't see offered often in other cafes. I asked for less sweet and you still get a good balance of caffeine strength and fruitiness (from the raspberry syrup used I guess). Dessert wise I'm not a fan.. the selection of choices pretty limited. The only appealing item to us this time was the Crème brûlée cake which to our surprise was a little too hard (more of a cheesecake texture). My friend and I ordered thinking it'll be more of a crème brûlée softer texture but this isn't. Ambiance - great. Spacious and lots of room for group chat or work. The food menu was pretty limited, but they also had some breakfast plates and salads. Service was friendly and while my drink came out very quickly, the sandwich took a while. The Iced Island Latte tasted great and was surprisingly caffeinated considering its light, creamy color. I loved the macadamia nut flavor! The Chicken Melt was pretty good too, and very filling. Cute coffee shop in Downtown Sunnyvale! We're lucky to have a couple good coffee shops downtown. Bean scene has consistently good coffee and a nice vibe. You'll see locals meeting, students studying, and people reading here. I found their pastries not my favorite so I would skip those. I want to try some other food here next time. Service is fast. When first walking in you get such a cozy home vibe here. The decor is very warming and comforting. The gentleman in the front was always aware of us in case we need to make an order, he was very attentive. The pastries and food do look good here but we wanted the coffee mostly.
