On my endless NorCal journey to sample as many boba chains that exist there and not in SoCal, my next stop was MoonTea. MoonTea is a franchise specializing in traditional Hunan flavors. I saw the art on the cups, the way it's set up, and the tiny 3 flute straw things and I knew this was gonna be in the same leagues as Chahalo, Chagee, or Molly tea, and IT IS. Love the fragrant, strongly flavored milk teas from Chinese franchises. They slap in a way that other places simply do not. They have order kiosks right when you enter or what I notice is that a lot of people order for pick up and there's a pick up shelf ready for you. I guess they have a place for free umbrellas for rainy days and you can use it and then return it later (sadly no way any one would really do this or would it work in the society that we live in but it's a kind gesture). There's some outdoor seating and plenty of parking in the structure it's attached to. Color theming with the white, blue and red is nice and refreshing since it's not super American looking haha. You can see the tea leaves that they use there too. There's a separate pick up for food and the art for their cups is quite nice and aesthetically pleasing. Perfect for pictures. For our order, we got the: 1) Sea Salt Green Milk tea: -My boyfriend got his drink at 0% sweetness as he usually does. -It's their premium green tea mixed with a hint of sea salt. Salted milk teas are on the rise in trendiness and popularity since I've seen it being offered at a lot of these Chinese franchises. Glad it's catching on since it's a nice mix of subtly sweet and salty flavor. 2) Gardenia Milk Tea With Fresh Pomelo Pulp: -This is a gardenia tea blended with milk and fresh pomelo pulp. -I got this less ice and at the recommended 50% sweetness. -This was the most unique sounding drink on the menu at a glance, so I ordered it immediately. You don't usually see milk drinks mixed with actual real citrus fruit (acid and base mixes can cause curdling, but this wasn't the case!). -Delicious mix of flavors from the subtle floral gardenias, milk tea, and the slight tartness and popping juice texture of the pomelo. A must try at least once. 3) Spicy Fried Sausage: -It's a skewer of Chinese sausage. -Super seasoned with the spices and cumin and such. It actually has quite a spicy kick to it, so if you're sensitive to spicy foods, this may not be for you (I'm talking about not being able to handle Hot Cheetos level). -Delicious but a bit messy, I'd get this again. Would definitely stop by here again. Or better yet, open one of these in SoCal in the 626.

Jasmine Milk Tea 青屏之茉

If you're a fan of floral tea like molly tea, you'll need to try moontea. I'll preface this review with the fact that I get 0% sugar for all my drinks so tea flavor, milk quality, and freshness will be most important to me (less so how flavors blend). That's why I can say MoonTea has higher quality floral tea than most other options in the bay area. They also offer season drinks with fun toppings like glutinous rice, pomelo, etc. My favorite drink is the jasmine milk tea! This parking situation is okay. There's parking in the garage and next to it. Make sure to read the signs before parking.

Got the Lychee Milk Tea. It has a nice lychee fragrance and tastes good. Was going to get the Ceylon Lemon Tea and guess they ran out of lemon and all lemon tea products were removed from the menu.

Very extensive menu with lots of options to choose from. The tea itself is tasty and flavorful--strong but not overwhelming. I especially love the hickory topping; it reminds me of a Häagen-Dazs bar and adds a really nice crunch that holds up well even when mixed into the drink.

Ya Shi Xiang Lemon Tea

I ordered the Ya Shi Xiang Lemon Tea. It came out within 5 minutes. It tastes a bit sweet and like natural lemon. The tea taste is very unique. I've never had tea like this before. The shop is small. There are seats to sit outside. The parking lot is really small so go during non-peak hours. I recommend this place if you want to try unique teas!

Lychee Milk Tea 岭南佳荔

I went after work and got their lychee milk tea and Xiangxi hot and sour rice noodles. There was only outdoor seatings and it's pretty spacious inside. The service was fast and I got my order about 5-10 minutes after ordering at the kiosk. The noodles was ok, I chose regular spicy and vinegar but I think I can do extra. It's spicy but not too bad and there's a subtle sour taste. There's also minced meat on top. The lychee milk tea was decent and has a strong lychee flavor.

Peach Oolong Milk Tea 声声乌龙

Throughly enjoyed the tea here at Moon Tea. If you follow their sweetness recommendations you are able to taste the tea flavor well with whatever other pairing. I got the peach oolong and was impressed that both flavors were not overpowering each other and complemented well. Even while it was busy, it did not take long for the team members to serve the drinks. They also have a nice outdoor seating area. No indoor seating here so this place is better for a takeout or nice seat in their outdoor seating area. Also be careful about parking at peak times, parking lot is fairly small. Would come back though to try more menu items!

Very delicious and authentic tea flavors! The prices are very fair for the Bay Area and the drinks come out very fast. I ordered the Ceylon milk tea and it was great! No indoor seating but they do have some outdoor seating. I would definitely come back!

I ordered the jasmine milk tea, and the flavor was very similar to Molly Tea--fragrant, smooth, and super refreshing. What really blew my mind, though, was the stinky tofu. It tasted just like what I had in China--authentic and full of flavor. The tofu was perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a serious level of spice, so definitely something to watch out for if you're not great with spicy food. They even added Korean pickles on top, which was unexpected but such a crunchy, delicious combo. The staff were friendly, and the store itself was very clean and welcoming. Would definitely come back!

Tried MoonTea for the first time and got the Jasmine Milk Tea ($6.25) and Peach Oolong Milk Tea ($5.95). In comparison to many other tea shops in the South Bay, MoonTea is very reasonably priced. Both drinks had really nice strong tea taste but the Jasmine Milk Tea was my favorite and the one that I will come back for. The Jasmine Milk Tea had a distinct floral taste and was perfect at 70% sweet. The drinks come in super aesthetic cups and are so pretty I wanted to keep them even after finishing my drink haha. In all honesty, I think the Jasmine Milk Tea is comparable to Molly Tea's premium jasmine milk tea but MoonTea's parking is way better, the store itself is much less crowded, and there is barely any wait at this location. Service is fast and efficient - I got my drink within five minutes of ordering. The store itself is quite small with some outdoor seating available.

I am not much of a bubble tea aficionado, but I know my tea. As far as tea goes, I can attest that they use good tea, and its brewed right. Meaning, they know how to handle tea, and not boil it to death. The oolong was fragrant, good body, and with minimal tannins. Probably softened by the milk. Overall, a good balance between the 2. And or course, fast service and super cute cups.

So many new tea spots have arrived to the Bay Area! I really liked the jasmine tea with boba here, and the tea itself has a strong floral flavor. Like Molly Tea, there are options to add whipped cream to your drink, with nuts on top. The Da Hong Pao tea was ok, and the flavor wasn't as strong as the jasmine tea. The jasmine tea tastes very similar to HeyTea.

Jasmine Milk Tea & Osmanthus Milk Tea
Sisi C.

I came here per a recommendation from friend who LOVES the tea here. I ordered an Osmanthus Milk Tea and also a sausage to try since they had some unique snack options. As I was ordering, I was caught off guard that their standard milk option is whole milk while creamer is listed with an additional cost. Traditional Taiwanese milk tea is made with creamer and most places charge extra for whole milk since creamer is quite cheap. But since they had milk as default, I went with that. The tea flavor overall was not bad but the drink left me with an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach that I can't describe. I've never been lactose intolerant or had any issues with whole milk drinks at other locations, but since this place apparently uses a milk that's cheaper than creamer, I suspect it may have been that. Also, I didn't realize until after I left that I never even received my sausage! We were waiting for a while so by the time I received a text that my order was ready and they only handed me my drink, I had completely forgotten I ordered it Unfortunately my only experience here was not the best so I probably would not return again. But the shop design is cute, there's a decent amount of seating, and many people seem to love it so I would not stop anyone interested in giving this place a try!

I got the grape white champaca milk tea and it was one of the best milk tea's I've had. The tea flavor really shines through.

Are there any decaf milk tea (made with decaf tea)?

Unfortunately, they do not.

Do you offer alternative milk?

They have regular full fat mooJuice or lactose free mooJuice +$0.25 no alternative (so no almond, no soy, no coconut, no oat, etc) yet...

Can you order no sugar for any of the drinks, or is it not recommended?

Hi! Yes, you can order no sugar for most of the drinks but we do recommend you try it with sweetened!

Okay but... a hotel coffee shop with good matcha? (Underrated luxury.) Now, the hotel itself? Visually... a moment. It looked like someone invested serious money into it, but the design felt a little space-meets-startup-meets-what's-happening-here. Some elements felt elevated, others felt a bit makeshift. I genuinely couldn't tell what the theme was -- futuristic? celestial? boutique-on-a-budget? I'm still processing. The front desk team was clearly well-trained and knowledgeable -- they had every answer, every stat, every rate breakdown ready. But the warmth? Missing. I was hoping for a little storytelling since I'd never heard of the hotel before, and instead got a very matter-of-fact "we've been here five years" energy. Efficient, yes. Inviting, not quite. But let's talk about why you're really here: the coffee shop. Completely different vibe. Two people working, both genuinely happy, welcoming, and quick. We ordered a latte and a matcha to go -- total was about $22, which made me blink for a second -- but then I tasted the matcha. Oh. This wasn't the overly sweet, dusty-green situation you sometimes get. It tasted clean. Real. High-quality. The kind of matcha that feels intentional. I love Firehouse in Marin, but this? This was closer to serious coffee roaster-level quality. Smooth, organic-tasting, beautifully balanced. You could tell they care about what they're serving. Branding was strong, the space was cute, and I could absolutely see myself sitting there with my laptop pretending I'm writing something important. We grabbed ours to go, but it had that easy, airy, "stay awhile" energy. Would I book the hotel? Jury's still out. They don't have an in-house spa and mentioned bringing in third-party services for certain amenities, which made it feel a little less full-service than I expected. Would I go back for the coffee shop? Without hesitation. Delicious drinks, easy parking, quick service, and a vibe that actually makes you want to come back. Sometimes the side character steals the show -- and in this case, it's 100% the matcha.

Because, once again, I was distracted by the quality of the food, and there would be no way for me to do anything else, but to eat! Today, I was in the mood for something more than a salad (much as I wanted to preset what I had the first time coming here, I made a concerted effort to order something else...), thus I chose the Forager Flatbread. It took less time to make this time (roughly about five minutes after ordering), and when it came out, I marveled at how it looked like a work of art! Just beautiful! Each piece of herbed formage blanc flatbread had a nice, crunchy bottom (but not blackened) and a slightly tanginess, with a a good amount of "hen-of-the-wood" mushrooms, sweet roasted garlic and a bed of arugula. My, oh, my! My first bite was a multi-level extravaganza! The crunch of the bread, followed by the aroma of the herbs and arugula, then the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the roasted garlic, the earthiness of the mushrooms - all came together as just a wonderful work of culinary art! This being my first time eating today, my saliva glands just fired off at first bite, causing a bit of intense pain from too much saliva shooting out. But, seriously, this was a very delicious entree, that I enjoyed from start to finish! Bravo for this second joyous experience!
