This review is just for the bingsu Okay sorry I was FLABBERGASTED at the price when it rang up to $18. I am used to going to sulbing and sul&beans where the price is definitely representative of the size and portion Mango Bingsu 7.5/10 Flavors were there, mango was big and sweet and there's some ice cream, but it was kind of small in my opinion to share with another person. Compared to sulbing (which is almost double the size) I was kind of shocked to see it come out I understand they are known for other items like the walnut treats, so it is my fault I didn't try those but if you come here JUST for bingsoo, there are other spots to try I do want to give them a second chance and try the more well known items and drinks, will update if I decide to come back! read more

YAY... am SO HAPPY we stumbled upon this place. I didn't realize it's been here for a while. First time we found it after shopping at Han Kook Market and wanted some coffee. This is a Korean based coffee shop with delicious coffees and so many choices. They also have their warm walnut treats that you can buy with the smallest size is 9 pieces. They can be with a mini hotdog, nutella with walnut bits, cream cheese, or red bean. My favorite is the nutella and cream cheese. Hubby loves the red bean. Staff is friendly and everything comes out fresh and hot. Lots of seating that you can pull tables together as we saw about a dozen "aunties" come to hang out here. Their sea salt latte is one of my favorites... Definitely a hidden gem and I can't wait to come back and try other desserts and drinks. I've been wanting to try bingsu for a while, and this place satisfied my craving! It is definitely large enough to share between 2 people. The mango was ripe and sweet, mochi was nice and chewy, and the vanilla ice cream on top was quite flavorful. The snow ice itself had less flavor than the vanilla ice cream, but when all eaten together it was really delicious. Came here for the first time to do some studying. I wasn't too sure if it would be a good study spot since I hadn't been before but it worked out nicely. There's a good amount of tables and outlets nearby. I went in the late afternoon on the weekend and it wasn't busy either. The drinks were refreshing. I got the lime mojito and would definitely recommend. I also tried their ham and cheese sandwich. I wish they would have updated photos or a description of the food items. I didn't expect the sandwich to come with mustard and pickles (two things I don't enjoy too much). I would want to come back and try some of their desserts next time though! read more

Today I was just looking for something new and simple to satisfy my usual matcha green tea craving on a Saturday morning. Downtown San Mateo didn't work out due to the congestion and protesting, so I end up in this part of town. A random pick seeing the good reviews and I am not disappointed so far. Right next door to Han Kook market on El Camino. Plenty of parking and as soon as you go inside, you are greeted by spaciousness and calm vibe with light K-pop in the background. I thought their menu was interesting, but I was just focused on getting one item and ended up with hot Green Tea Latte for $5.45 Staff that assisted me said my drink was composed of matcha green tea powder + vanilla powder and sprinkled with some sea salt in top. Not a bad concoction! I'll definitely be back for more because my small cup was gone like the wind. I like how there's plenty of small square tables for two and a few round tables for 4+ seats. A plus that they have a small hallway that leads to his and her bathroom. Only downside of this place is that their electrical outlets are far and few so bring your laptops charged or portable chargers if you plan on staying here longer! This place stinks, literally. The sewage smell permeates the entire restaurant especially in the back near the bathrooms and kitchen. Despite the stench, the place appears clean and well decorated. The staff is friendly and seems to work hard. O feel bad for them needing to breathe that all day long. It's gross and probably bad for you. The berry bingsu came out quickly and was actually very good. The ice was nicely sweetened and the fruit was fresh and sweet. The ice cream, I suspect, came from the Costco freezer. I'm going to let you look at the picture and see if you see what we see. The berry waffle took a while but wasn't worth the wait. The waffle was kind of undercooked and had minimal flavor. The whole thing had too much whipped cream and a watery sweet sauce. It had the same ice cream as the bingsu. I may go back for the bingsu if they fix the ambiance and stench. read more

Our family loves Cocohodo!! We haven't been here for a minute now since we longer live near Sunnyvale. We love eating their walnut pastry. The adults loves the original which comes with red bean filling, and the kids loves the nutella flavor. So good..perfect bite!! We ordered the large bag which comes with 21 pieces, and it's always gone within a day. We also ordered the Mango Bingsu and it was so good!! Refreshing and delicious we devoured it. It was so good. We came here for some post dinner dessert on a hot day and it really hit the spot. The shaved ice was a manageable size! Normally they are just waaay too big. They had good flavor options and it tasted great! It was end of night so they didnt have many walnut pastry options left. But the ones we had were delicious. Pretty decent serving size although may not be commensurate for an almost $18 dessert. We enjoyed it but some pieces of mango were hard and lacked flavor. Overall, pretty good. I have been to Cocohodo quite a few times in the past decade and always have a good experience. As of recently, I've been getting the latte, and it's pretty good and not too pricey. My friend had the matcha latte and she loved it for how strong it was. They also have a variety of non-coffee drinks. I also like getting the walnut cakes for myself and as gifts -- you can choose the flavors or get a mystery pack. They also have bingsu and other foods, such as the viral "ex boyfriend toast" (blueberry compote and cream cheese on toast), though I haven't tried either of those. The cafe is spacious and there is a lot of seating, so it's a good place to hang out and chat with friends. The staff are friendly and work fast. It's located in a small plaza, so parking is easy to find. Would recommend! read more

However, the foul sewage smell permeating this space makes dining here unbearable. They need an inspection to figure out the source, better ventilation, and an air filter. read more

Haven't had Cocohodo in a while and remembered this is one of the only places- that I know of that has Hodu-gwaja or Korean Walnut Cake. A delicious treat akin to a sweet cake encasing a smooth red bean paste and a walnut. Their offerings of this treat now has a variety of fillings like nutella, cream cheese, red bean to even hot dog! They're the perfect treat for gifts, snacks for road trips or to pair with coffee. Along with the walnut cakes I paired it with Sea Salt Coffee and Mango shaved ice on this visit. The cakes were as delicious as I remembered them to be and the red bean was perfectly sweet and the walnut adds a nice texture and nutty flavor. The sea salt coffee was okay, thought the coffee could be a bit stronger in flavor it seemed a bit watered down to me. The Mango shaved ice was a nice dessert to share! Shaved ice topped with condensed milk, mochi bites, Mango ice cream and fresh mango slices. The shaved ice here is more on the classic icey side rather than powdery and light. The service was good and everything came out in a timely manner. Plenty of seating for couples or groups inside, comfortable and casual. Giving mom and pop vibes for sure. Such a cute cafe with a bunch of tables to sit at! Their drink menu is pretty standard to most korean cafes around here but the sparkling plum tea is my fave. I highly recommend getting the cocohodo which is like a bread filled with your filling of choice (contains walnuts), we got the nutella one and its such a good dessert to have after a meal! It has been a long while since I've dropped by this location. It's surprising because usually I'm in this plaza to shop @ the Korean grocery market. This time around I ordered the hot grain latte. It was cold outside so I figured something hot is good. The temperature was ok. It was more like between warm and actual hot. They also have these cool walnut shaped hotdog bites which I enjoyed very much. Long ago I remember trying the sweet version with red bean paste in it. But I find the hotdog one more delightful! It is also a nice place to be able to sit and have a chat with your friends and family. There are people but there wasn't super crowded or anything. So my friends and I were craving some after dinner on Thursday and Cocohodo was one of the few places that was still open at that time. It was around 830pm and most places close at 9pm, like Cocohodo. We came around 845pm and they told us all orders are in togo packaged now. It was fine. We got the mango bingsoo and it was alright... The mangoes were definitely not fresh ones, they are either from the can or something, not sure, but it has the overly sweet taste and pickled texture... needless to say we were all not a big fan.. The Nutella one was warm and melty inside but the pastry shell was also dry (different recipe?). First time ever having this issue so not sure if it's a post-covid/staffing issue thing. They also used to give fresh samples off the press but looks like that's not happening anymore? Unfortunately, it was a waste of $30 and even more embarrassing to gift someone with stale pastries. Really hope this was an anomaly. The pastry is good but disappointing in their shave ice. I was looking for traditional shave ice that was made in Taiwan, Japan and Korea but they put a spin on the shave ice. A solid spot for a quick dessert stop or a coffee and chat with friends! The interior was welcoming and seating was ample! I mainly came to try their shaved ice/snow desserts, so I got the Mango Shaved Ice and Berry Shaved Ice (Though I opted to take out the red beans and blueberries). Both were pretty good! I liked the Berry shaved Ice better since the mango tasted like it was canned. The ice cream was yummy and there was a good balance in sweetness. I do wish they did add an option of adding condensed milk with the Berry Shaved ice! They have self serve water on the side next to all the utensils and napkins. My family had to go grocery shopping at the Korean market in the same strip mall as here. I decided that I didn't want to wait for them to finish shopping, so I checked out the strip mall and saw Cocohodu. I went in and bought a mango smoothie. I liked it because I'm not a fan of overly sugary smoothies and drinks, but this wasn't too sweet. The employees were really nice, and I noticed that the other customers were able to have room level conversations with each other and with employees. That said, I'm a little shocked that the cost of the smoothie was a shade under $8. That said, this was a pretty decent place to hang out for a bit. read more

Situated right next to Hankook Supermarket on El Camino, Cocohodo is a really great place to do work if you're okay with kpop music. WiFi is good. Food and drinks are also decent. It's not crowded so you have your choice of the tables and outlets. I'm surprised the big mug attendees haven't taken this place over.
