I popped by Big Mug Coffee after work to study; parking isn't too bad, though it shares a parking lot with a slew of other businesses (mostly eateries). It wasn't crazy busy so it was easy to order through one of their two tablets and find a spot to sit. It is very spacious and filled with many tables, so even when busy you'll likely be able to find a spot. The menu is a bit messy to look at--there is a big menu hanging over the kiosks, another posted alongside where a line is formed, then the menu on the tablet kiosks themselves. It's a pretty big menu featuring primarily coffee-based drinks, matcha lattes, and a wide variety of food, so you'll likely find something appealing. I ordered their smoked salmon bagel (which rang up to about $16) and their matcha latte ($8); to be honest, neither were outstanding. The salmon and avocado in the bagel were great, but the bagel itself was a bit stale--for $16, it's a bit hard to swallow. The matcha was very milky, and there is another store offering better matcha drinks in the same plaza. I'll admit, though, it's a little on me for not picking coffee at a spot with "coffee" in the name. I will say, though, that the atmosphere in the main area is pretty good; the decor is understated but comfortable, and the lighting is good. The service is also solid--the servers are friendly and our order came out quickly. I will say that the bathroom feels ominous. Overall, it's a great spot to study; Big Mug is open late, has free Wi-Fi and a bathroom for customers, and offers both food and caffeinated drinks for longer study sessions. I feel that the prices vary widely for items but skew towards being too pricy for the quality, at least from my limited experience. I stumbled upon big mug while looking for a coffee joint with interesting drinks. I was looking for not too sweet and not too creamy like the recent trends with cream top coffees. I tried the pandan latte and was pleasantly surprised on how you could still taste the pan although it is not as strong as I've had with matches I think with the coffee it went really well to add extra aroma to the milk. It had the perfect amount of caffeine. The kiosk to order can be a little confusing. Not everything is uploaded with pictures, which could be more helpful for our first time customers. I ended up helping a couple next to me. Look for the burrito because it was labeled somewhere else in menu. If I have time to dine in, I would love to try everything on the menu. It looks so good. They even have Korean style toast here. On Mother's Day the seats were all taken as everyone was just chilling there, but I think it's a great spot on weekdays to do work or grab a quick brunch with friends. I used to come here a lot since it was a nice spot to hang out and get work done. Came in on a Monday around noon and the shop was fully packed and pretty loud (normally there's ample seating). There's a kiosk to order now with a majority of items missing pictures and descriptions. Still, the staff seem busier than ever, my lavender latte took about 15 minutes and it was hard to find open seating. I think the quality has gotten a little worse here, my latte was very sweet even with less sugar requested, and they seemed to just dump espresso on top of milk and callel my name in a hurry. When I was ordering, I was disappointed to find that a majority of drinks were sold out? I've honestly never seen anything like it. They made more space for seating and tables, they used to have this huge book shelf thing that split up the space a bit. The service seems way more organized and efficient. However, I resorted to hand sanitizer due to the bathroom code issue, so hold onto your receipt till you're done with your visit. They have those self service kiosks so no human interaction with the staff and the wording on the self service kiosk was very weird and hard to understand. I had to ask an employee if I ordered my drink right because the regular amount of espresso for my drink was labeled "none". Apparently "none" means the normal amount? Even worse, while I was ordering, my wife really had to go to the bathroom which has a code. When she asked for the restroom code, the staff kept saying it was at the bottom of the receipt. Now I still hadn't figured out what we wanted so there was no receipt yet. She urgently needed to use the restroom so I was rushed to order quickly. We were NOT happy with the weirdness around the bathroom. It should be common sense that my wife is a customer if I'm halfway through ordering. We ended up getting the toast monster, which seemed to just be a bunch of cabbage and a hashbrown between bread with a teeny tiny amount of bacon. For the price, I expected more bacon. For drinks I got the a plain black coffee which was barely above room temp and seemed like it was brewed hours ago. My wife ordered the pandan paradise and it was PURE sugar. we asked for it less sweet and it was still ungodly sweet. Her drink was also mostly ice. Very cheap and stingy. The only positive thing I can say was that the workers seemed really nice other than the stupid bathroom policy that almost caused my wife to have an accident in public. They were out of matcha (which was disappointing), so I didn't end up getting much. I'd definitely be curious to try it when they have it in stock. My friend ordered an unsweetened latte, and it was extremely sour -- and not in a nuanced way. Unsweetened is one thing; sour is another. He also got a pastry that tasted a bit stale. The space itself was very tight -- tighter than I prefer -- and didn't have much personality. It was comfortable enough to sit, and parking was easy, which is a plus. But the bathroom was quite dirty, and the team didn't seem particularly engaged. When I asked for the Wi-Fi after we'd thrown away the receipt, I was told, "It's on the receipt." I had to ask another staff member to look it up, and they eventually helped -- but it felt like it shouldn't have been that difficult. Overall, it was fine. Nothing terrible, nothing exceptional.
