Officially starting my "anywhere-but-Starbucks" coffee journey. Coffee here is tasty and smooth Very clean and bright If you're looking for a good place to work Customer service was excellent(: people seem happy to work here
Quick stop for a coffee fix while we were apartment viewing and saw this was the closest spot to us. Parking is readily available on the street and close the Franklin square. Upon entry, everything was super clean! It wasn't busy and most patrons were quietly studying or working on the side like any casual coffee spot here in the Bay Area. We ordered a raspberry matcha and their ube latte. The matcha didn't really have a raspberry taste and tasted bitter from the matcha. The ube latte was a lot more tasty with a slight ube taste. Overall, a really great spot to grab some coffee and study or work in the back.
I loved this cozy coffee spot on the corner of a neighbouring district! There are many small cute details like nice fresh flowers or non-plastic cutlery. I tried latter and tiramisu. Desserts are on a higher than average price range, but really good. Service is friendly and fast! There are 2 restrooms available, lots of street parking nearby, outdoor tables, plenty of space, free wi-fi and delicious desserts!
We first discovered What Coffee at a Lunar New Year event and were impressed enough to visit the café before heading back to LA. We're so glad we did. Parking can be a bit tough since it's mostly street parking, but if you're lucky, you might find a spot right by the café. It's worth the small hassle. The atmosphere is great. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably hang out, study, catch up with friends, or just stop in for a quick bite and coffee. The space feels welcoming and relaxed without being too loud. We ordered a hot matcha latte and the matcha mousse cake. The cake was light and not too sweet, which we really appreciated. It had a smooth texture and paired perfectly with the drink. As for the matcha latte, you can definitely taste the matcha, which I love. It wasn't overly milky or watered down. It had that rich, earthy flavor that true matcha fans look for. Overall, a cozy spot with quality drinks and desserts. We would definitely come back again if in the area.
Headed over to WhatCoffee based on the yelp reviews and I'm very happy I did! Jawn helped me at the register. Soft spoken and knowledgeable. They were slow at the moment and he took time to tell me about the pastries and the pistachio croissant (which is what they're most know for). He also explained a new drink they just started offering which is a vanilla, honey, cinnamon latte. I of course tried it! Very balanced and not too sweet, definitely recommend. He also mentioned they do everything in house and roast their own beans. Ambiance was quiet for a coffee shop with one other guest working on his laptop. Everything was very clean. In my opinion, this is a gem in the local community and definitely worth a stop!
What a cute little coffee shop! They have a really awesome mural on the back wall I wanted to take a pic of but there was always someone sitting in front of it and I didn't want to bother anyone. There is only street parking, but I was able to find a spot at the end of the street, or there's a parking lot across the street where the other shops are. The ube lattes only come as iced. It was really good, but the ube flavor is very light. Barely noticed it. Coffee flavor was good though. The pistachio pastry was perfectly crumbly and flavorful. They have 2 restrooms. One has an employee only sign that I didn't notice when I used it. Ooops. Both restrooms are nice and clean. Staff was friendly. I loved seeing a decent flow of customers, some to hang out with friends, some just sitting to read or do work. Overall, it has a nice chill vibe. When I'm in the area, I'd go back.
Fantastic little coffee shop with a selection of pastries and breakfast menu. I had a latte and the pulled pork sandwich. I really enjoyed the presentation (2 thin slices of oranges and a salad with blackberries in addition to the sandwich). The overall vibe was really chill and quiet. Other than the quiet chatter of people talking and the occasional hello from the person welcoming people in it was a balm to the soul. I dont want this place to get too popular because I dont think there are enough staff but as is this is an absolute gem of a coffee shop with smooth coffee (,no burned beans ) and delightful food.
Apparently this coffee shop has been here for a year, but I only recently found out because I was looking to get coffee in the area. I don't think they have their own private parking but there were some street parking available. The inside was pretty nice and seemed like a good place to get work done. I wanted to try the grape shaken cold brew but they ran out, so I got a tiramisu latte instead and a pistachio croissant. The service for the coffee was a bit slower than I thought it would be. When I got my coffee, the worker realized she forgot to put espresso in my drink and quickly fixed it for me. The pistachio croissant was buttery and flaky and had a rich pistachio flavor that I really enjoyed!
Discovered this coffee shop and bakery at a recent event I attended (Hayward Night Market) where I tried a yummy savory treat from their food stand. This past Sunday, just a week later, I visited the Santa Clara cafe and had a positive experience once again. Loved the bright and modern space with unique light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and a variety of comfy seating options for guests (both indoor and outdoor tables available). Service at the front counter was friendly and efficient. There were no labels in the display case so I had to ask about some of the items, and the employee was patient and professional in answering my questions. I ended up ordering an iced mocha, ham and cheese croissant, and banana walnut muffin. The iced mocha was sweet and smooth, the croissant was flaky and served at room temp directly from the display case, and the banana nut muffin was moist and full of flavor. What's more, I appreciated the free wifi and easy parking right outside the entrance, adding to the convenience of paying a visit.
Nice, cute coffee shop in Downtown San Jose. Stopped by before work and couldn't tell if they were open around 7am-- didn't see anyone inside and all the lights were off. One of the regulars encouraging me to just walk in. Ordered a flat white. Good quality espresso served in a fun ceramic cup. Ambiance is conducive to read, study or come by with a friend. The pastries were added to the display case a bit after opening.
I came here to do some light studying, and I loved it! It was spacious with great natural lighting, and it usually doesn't get too crowded in the mornings. The coffee was a solid 3/5! The Tiramisu latte was sweet, and the lavender latte was yummy, nothing crazy but definitely something I would order again. I also love their pastries especially the Almond croissant!
Came to get some work done and vibes are pretty cute, very bright and nice lighting. No outlets though. Which I don't really expect all coffee shops to. The coffee was pretty good! It was a bit more milky than I prefer but loved the ube foam on top VERY ubey. Hoping I get to try the pastries next time!
Stopped by this bakery and tried their pistachio and strawberry croissants -- both were amazing! The pistachio one had a rich nutty flavor with a buttery, flaky crust, while the strawberry one was slightly tart and sweet, with cream inside. Super fresh, not too sweet, and perfectly layered. Definitely worth coming back for a morning treat or weekend pick-me-up. Service was excellent and helpful.

First time trying this place! I would recommend! Instead of visiting their actual location, I ended up trying a delicious strawberry pastry from a booth they had in Presidio Tunnel Tops Park. The workers were friendly. I also noticed they kept clearing tray after tray, so that's good. I do plan on visiting their actual location one of these days. read more

Not my favorite pastries, they were on the dry side and dough didn't have a buttery flavor it was odd tasting to me. I thought I would love them by the way they looked but they tasted not as clean as I hoped. I wasn't happy with my choices or flavors. Super pricey as well $25 for 3 pastries. read more

Went to What Coffee in Santa Clara and had such a great experience! I ordered a vanilla latte with an extra shot, a caramel latte for my husband, and a pistachio cream donut. The coffee was excellent -- my vanilla latte was smooth, bold, and perfectly balanced, while the caramel latte had just the right touch of sweetness. The pistachio cream donut was the star: fluffy, airy, and light without being overly sweet. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, a lovely spot to sit and relax. The staff were warm and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Definitely a place I'll be returning to! read more

I wasn't planning on coming here but what a pleasant surprise it was! I came in and the barista was kind and has very welcoming energy. I ordered a pistachio and white chocolate matcha cookie, it was so fire. They warmed it up and it wasn't too sweet so it was just what I was looking for. It's pretty busy for a Friday when I visited, I plan to come back here to study and do work! read more

I experienced what coffee at the rose garden farmers market. Fruit tart was flaky and delicious. The custard was so creamy. The blueberry mini cheesecake blew us away .we fought over finishing it and saving some for my husband. Wow. Absolutely perfection - perfect creamy texture and just the right sweetness. Small but mighty. read more

I saw someone say this place sells pistachio croissants and I knew I had to bust a mission to check this out myself. The pistachio croissant was so flaky and airy, filled with delicious pistachio cream and a pistachio crust. 10/10. They have a lot of options in their bakery case, you're bound to find something you like. My croissant did cost $8 after tax but it was a treat myself type of day. I didn't try any drinks during my visit, but I will next time. Service was polite and friendly, their bathrooms are super clean and there's indoor and outdoor seating available. read more
I picked up some pastries from their stall at the farmer's market - a pistachio croissant and a personal sized mango cheesecake (about the size of my palm). There was a huge line so I was excited. Who could've guessed two pastries would've come out to $20? There were no prices listed either at the stall and sure I could've asked, but there was a line and I didn't want to hold it up. I thought to myself, these better be good for $20! I was really pleased with the pistachio croissant. It was flaky and the pistachio filling was delicious and not too sweet. The mango cheesecake on the other hand... it was inedible. I'm not sure if I'm just not a fan of whatever they use for the base, but the base was black and appeared to be burnt. I tried to avoid eating the base, but I could taste it even about halfway up. It was straight up bitter and bad. Overall, I was disappointed. Sure, the pistachio croissant was great, but the $20 price point and bad cheesecake was enough to keep me from returning. read more
The latte is decently strng and a pretty standard medium-dark roast. There are some interesting coffee and matcha offerings but they are way more expensive. The tables are very large, which makes it super helpful for studying. There's also 4-hour parking outside, although I don't think it's strictly enforced. The neighborhood and the cafe are both fairly calm. The cafe was so calm when I entered that I waited a couple of minutes for a barista to come out from the back to take my order. The bakery items were pretty popular from other patrons, but they are a bit expensive. read more
Tried their pistachio croissant . Loved it. It had a lot of pistachios and there was sweet pistachio filling as well. Would highly recommend it. This was the only dish I tried. My husband loved it so much that he went back later same day and got one more. read more

Such a cute and aesthetic cafe that's was perfect for hanging out. A lot of people were on their laptops, and the vibe felt really comfortable. The pastries are amazing! I was happy to finally find a coffee shop with good pastries. I tried the pistachio croissant and it was seriously delicious, flaky, perfectly baked, and honestly reminded me of the flaky veg pastries I used to have in India. I also picked up a ham and cheese croissant for my husband and a strawberry cream donut. The donut was soft with good amount of strawberry cream but it felt more like a custard with strawberry syrup than a fresh strawberry cream filling. Can't wait to go back and try their matcha! read more

Super cute and cozy coffee shop in Santa Clara that you can't miss! I tried it for the first time and really enjoyed my hot latte in a mug and savory breakfast pastry. There are seatings inside, which is nice for a study session or a coffee date. Plenty of parking nearby and service was quick! read more
We ordered the grape shaken cold brew and it was plenty for the two of us. It costs about $7 total and barely watered down. The seating area is separated and spacious which gives it a great spot for studying and being productive. They also have outdoor seating. Their chairs are the comfiest chairs I've seen at any coffee shop. They also have a parking garage but plenty of free street parking as well. The staff is courteous and does a good job at cleaning the tables. We didn't try any of their pastries but their tarts and croissants look delicious so definitely coming back for that. read more
Another odd experience, but with WhatCoffee this morning. We walked in, as 2 employees were outside discussing the exterior, the yellow chairs were out. We walked up to the counter and 3 employees were wiping up the display case, with a rack of all their pastries behind them. We stood there, right in front of them for a good 3-5 minutes. Finally, one of them says they don't open until 8 am. It was 7:40 am. My hub was perturbed because they didn't say or acknowledge us when we initially walked in. He's not coming back due to lack of customer service. We ended up at 1oz. LOL read more

Totally forgot to review this bright and spacious spot. I went back in November for lunch. There's designated parking right behind the shop. I was looking for new cafes and WhatCoffee popped up. So many options for food, drinks, and sweets! Drinks: Iced Coconut Matcha Blushing Mojito *strawberry based, I think Pastries: Pistachio Croissant Chocolate Cream Donut Matcha White Chocolate Cookie Food: Beef Sandwiches I had the coconut matcha rather than trying the raspberry matcha, thinking raspberry would be too sweet. The coconut version seems to be just matcha mixed with coconut water, sweetener optional. Blushing mojito was non-caffeinated and wasn't too sweet, very refreshing and sparkling. The pistachio croissant was flaky, soft n buttery with a chopped pistachio paste filling. They added rose petal fragments for color and aroma. I would get this again! The chocolate donut reminded me of a Boston cream pie donut with the chocolate top. Kind of pricey at $6. Matcha cookie wasn't great, a bit dry. Beef sandwiches were delicious! Excellent lunch option on toasted ciabatta. Cheese, greens, and pickled onions tied everything together. Now, I'm totally craving this. Employees were friendly and helped us out with navigating the menu. Plenty of seating with natural sunlight flooding in. Very inviting space. read more

I know that What Coffee has been really popular on social media lately, so we really wanted to try them out! It is a super cute coffee shop with lots of interesting options! They may be pretty known for their pastries, but I was discouraged and decided not to order one. I asked someone in the service staff what some of the pastries were because there were no labels, and all they said was, "I have no idea." And didn't even try to ask their coworker.. a little rude to me. We ordered their Grape Cold Brew solely because there are no reviews about it so far! I give it a 3.5/5- you have to really like grape flavors to enjoy this coffee. It tastes a bit like wine! The coffee did provide a nice energy boost, it was not aggressive and we did not crash from it. read more

**3.5 Stars WhatCoffee Roastery and Bakery recently opened up in Santa Clara and offers a huge variety of house-baked artisanal pastries and cakes, coffee options made from coffee beans that they roast themselves, unique specialty drinks, and more! Overall, I didn't think their drinks were that amazing - definitely more on the average side but this is a good one-stop shop if you're looking for coffee, pastries, and brunch or lunch as they have it all. Their store is also relatively spacious with modern decor and has tons of natural lighting.
