Raspberry iced matcha and ube latte
    Cody T.

Quick stop for a coffee fix while we were apartment viewing and saw this was the closest spot to us. Parking is readily available on the street and close the Franklin square. Upon entry, everything was super clean! It wasn't busy and most patrons were quietly studying or working on the side like any casual coffee spot here in the Bay Area. We ordered a raspberry matcha and their ube latte. The matcha didn't really have a raspberry taste and tasted bitter from the matcha. The ube latte was a lot more tasty with a slight ube taste. Overall, a really great spot to grab some coffee and study or work in the back.

I loved this cozy coffee spot on the corner of a neighbouring district! There are many small cute details like nice fresh flowers or non-plastic cutlery. I tried latter and tiramisu. Desserts are on a higher than average price range, but really good. Service is friendly and fast! There are 2 restrooms available, lots of street parking nearby, outdoor tables, plenty of space, free wi-fi and delicious desserts!

We first discovered What Coffee at a Lunar New Year event and were impressed enough to visit the café before heading back to LA. We're so glad we did. Parking can be a bit tough since it's mostly street parking, but if you're lucky, you might find a spot right by the café. It's worth the small hassle. The atmosphere is great. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably hang out, study, catch up with friends, or just stop in for a quick bite and coffee. The space feels welcoming and relaxed without being too loud. We ordered a hot matcha latte and the matcha mousse cake. The cake was light and not too sweet, which we really appreciated. It had a smooth texture and paired perfectly with the drink. As for the matcha latte, you can definitely taste the matcha, which I love. It wasn't overly milky or watered down. It had that rich, earthy flavor that true matcha fans look for. Overall, a cozy spot with quality drinks and desserts. We would definitely come back again if in the area.

Headed over to WhatCoffee based on the yelp reviews and I'm very happy I did! Jawn helped me at the register. Soft spoken and knowledgeable. They were slow at the moment and he took time to tell me about the pastries and the pistachio croissant (which is what they're most know for). He also explained a new drink they just started offering which is a vanilla, honey, cinnamon latte. I of course tried it! Very balanced and not too sweet, definitely recommend. He also mentioned they do everything in house and roast their own beans. Ambiance was quiet for a coffee shop with one other guest working on his laptop. Everything was very clean. In my opinion, this is a gem in the local community and definitely worth a stop!

What a cute little coffee shop! They have a really awesome mural on the back wall I wanted to take a pic of but there was always someone sitting in front of it and I didn't want to bother anyone. There is only street parking, but I was able to find a spot at the end of the street, or there's a parking lot across the street where the other shops are. The ube lattes only come as iced. It was really good, but the ube flavor is very light. Barely noticed it. Coffee flavor was good though. The pistachio pastry was perfectly crumbly and flavorful. They have 2 restrooms. One has an employee only sign that I didn't notice when I used it. Ooops. Both restrooms are nice and clean. Staff was friendly. I loved seeing a decent flow of customers, some to hang out with friends, some just sitting to read or do work. Overall, it has a nice chill vibe. When I'm in the area, I'd go back.

Wide open space, clean and bright display case with goodies. Lots of available seating.

Fantastic little coffee shop with a selection of pastries and breakfast menu. I had a latte and the pulled pork sandwich. I really enjoyed the presentation (2 thin slices of oranges and a salad with blackberries in addition to the sandwich). The overall vibe was really chill and quiet. Other than the quiet chatter of people talking and the occasional hello from the person welcoming people in it was a balm to the soul. I dont want this place to get too popular because I dont think there are enough staff but as is this is an absolute gem of a coffee shop with smooth coffee (,no burned beans ) and delightful food.

Apparently this coffee shop has been here for a year, but I only recently found out because I was looking to get coffee in the area. I don't think they have their own private parking but there were some street parking available. The inside was pretty nice and seemed like a good place to get work done. I wanted to try the grape shaken cold brew but they ran out, so I got a tiramisu latte instead and a pistachio croissant. The service for the coffee was a bit slower than I thought it would be. When I got my coffee, the worker realized she forgot to put espresso in my drink and quickly fixed it for me. The pistachio croissant was buttery and flaky and had a rich pistachio flavor that I really enjoyed!

I wasn't planning on coming here but what a pleasant surprise it was! I came in and the barista was kind and has very welcoming energy. I ordered a pistachio and white chocolate matcha cookie, it was so fire. They warmed it up and it wasn't too sweet so it was just what I was looking for. It's pretty busy for a Friday when I visited, I plan to come back here to study and do work!

Discovered this coffee shop and bakery at a recent event I attended (Hayward Night Market) where I tried a yummy savory treat from their food stand. This past Sunday, just a week later, I visited the Santa Clara cafe and had a positive experience once again. Loved the bright and modern space with unique light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and a variety of comfy seating options for guests (both indoor and outdoor tables available). Service at the front counter was friendly and efficient. There were no labels in the display case so I had to ask about some of the items, and the employee was patient and professional in answering my questions. I ended up ordering an iced mocha, ham and cheese croissant, and banana walnut muffin. The iced mocha was sweet and smooth, the croissant was flaky and served at room temp directly from the display case, and the banana nut muffin was moist and full of flavor. What's more, I appreciated the free wifi and easy parking right outside the entrance, adding to the convenience of paying a visit.

Nice, cute coffee shop in Downtown San Jose. Stopped by before work and couldn't tell if they were open around 7am-- didn't see anyone inside and all the lights were off. One of the regulars encouraging me to just walk in. Ordered a flat white. Good quality espresso served in a fun ceramic cup. Ambiance is conducive to read, study or come by with a friend. The pastries were added to the display case a bit after opening.

Came to get some work done and vibes are pretty cute, very bright and nice lighting. No outlets though. Which I don't really expect all coffee shops to. The coffee was pretty good! It was a bit more milky than I prefer but loved the ube foam on top VERY ubey. Hoping I get to try the pastries next time!

    Tiramisu Latte and Lavender Latte
    Marilyn P.

I came here to do some light studying, and I loved it! It was spacious with great natural lighting, and it usually doesn't get too crowded in the mornings. The coffee was a solid 3/5! The Tiramisu latte was sweet, and the lavender latte was yummy, nothing crazy but definitely something I would order again. I also love their pastries especially the Almond croissant!

    Joyce S.

Stopped by this bakery and tried their pistachio and strawberry croissants -- both were amazing! The pistachio one had a rich nutty flavor with a buttery, flaky crust, while the strawberry one was slightly tart and sweet, with cream inside. Super fresh, not too sweet, and perfectly layered. Definitely worth coming back for a morning treat or weekend pick-me-up. Service was excellent and helpful.

Pastries and breads are often not uniform in size. Pastries that come out smaller or torn, damaged still get selected to be sold to customers instead of seen as a quality defect and pulled. In comparison to premium bakeries in SF, Palo Alto, or even Los Gatos, this was disappointing. I would think it would be better to pull the one or two pastries in that tray. Heck, even Paris Baguette would pull whole trays if it didn't fit their quality standard. (But I don't know if that's still true haha.) Given its premium pricing of $8-15 a pastry, I would expect all the qualities that would justify it. They are a step above bakeries who have frozen products, but do not hit the level of premium in quality of pastry. The prices they had in the beginning were fair, but with the recent increase along with those issues, I'm sad to rate it lower.

I had such a fun time exploring their bakery and café offerings. It's the kind of place where everything looks too good to pass up. I started with a Cappuccino 16oz (creamy, rich, and the perfect morning pick-me-up) and a Caramel Macchiato 16oz with oat milk for a smooth, slightly sweet twist. The pastries were next-level: the Mango Cream Donut was light, fluffy, and bursting with fruity goodness, and the Guava Danish was perfectly flaky and sweet with just the right hint of tropical flavor. *Tina's Tips: - Grab a tray, tongs, and parchment paper to make picking your pastries fun and easy. - Add all the pastries you want and checkout at the counter. - If you buy a cake, ask them to hold it while you enjoy your coffee and treats in the café. The place was situated in a quiet plaza just outside of Lawrence Expressway. There's ample parking but it doesn't feel like the location is suitable for a cafe where you can picture sitting inside looking through some big windows facing a busy pedestrian walkway. However, once I stepped inside, I was surprised at how zen and peaceful the decorations were and how fitting it was for a cozy and quiet cafe hangout. The cake shelf was surprisingly busy. And this is where I took one star out because the lines were confusing and the staff skipped me to talk to the group behind me while I was clearly the next to be helped. Luckily another staff member came out from the back kitchen and jumped in to help. The staff spoke fluent mandarin. I was interested in their box cakes. A few of the yelpers raved about their soy milk cake and luckily they had one out for sampling. It was covered with lots of cream and the cake layer was soft and moist, but it was still slightly too sweet for me and I felt that it lacked the tofu kind of soy flavor. Then, I spotted on their menu that they have a black sesame matcha box cake, and black sesame is always my favorite, so I asked for it. They had the last one left! The staff said she had never tried it so she couldn't tell me if it is less sweet than the soy milk cake. Since it was the last one available and I already sampled the soy cake, I decided to give it a try. I am happy that I did. The cake was filled with matcha mousse and tasted light and aromatic with the jasmine kind of matcha flavor. It is definitely less sweet. Unfortunately, it doesn't have as much black sesame as I'd like. But overall, the cake flavor is the kind that I like, subtle, moist, and not too sweet. $38 for a box cake of 4x4 is a bit pricey, but I'm glad that I gave it a try. The cakes were freshly made and tasted best the same day of purchase. They also recommend refrigerating the cake and consuming it within a day or two.

The samples were delicious and the pickup process was easy. We went with a ribbon cake (chocolate and vanilla) with fresh strawberries, whipped cream filling, and vanilla buttercream frosting. It was covered in chocolate and filled with custard, and it was just the right sweetness and not too sweet. The size was pleasing, and the custard filling was good. It was a 3-layer vanilla cake filled with lemon mousse, covered in buttercream and white chocolate bark pieces, and topped with 10 blueberries. This flavor can be found on their website catalog. I don't know if this is typical for this bakery, but the cake was heavy, claggy on the bottom, and way too sweet. The lemon mousse tasted incredibly strange, as if it were artificial or maybe had some kind of herb or weird flavoring added. The less said about the cream, the better. The white chocolate was quite good though. I saw they had a wide variety of cake offerings, but I don't think I'd want cake from here again. I might get the choux pastry again.

It's a small bakery with lots of trays of individually packaged cakes and pastries. The smell was very pleasant and comforting. Using a flat basket (or tray) I grabbed a few selections. I picked 2 "Heart Pies" that resembled my favorite French Butterfly Cookies. Also 2 pound cakes. The total rang up to just over $21. There's some small tables for enjoying your purchases there, but I took my items to go. The icy cold fruit smoothie was very good and very cold! Not too sweet, it had a natural strawberry taste. The Heart Pies were good and fresh. But the Pound Cakes were probably "day old." I noticed there's no dates or "best by" tags on the packages. It's a nice place to visit, and I will return again. Free parking in plaza lot.

Wisely, I checked Yelp reviews first because some deals can be too good to be true. It's hidden gem off El Camino and near Lawrence Expressway where those that know good Korean baking have this spot on their short list of preferred places. I arrived a few minutes before my scheduled pick up time and Korean grandma behind the counter was super pro, teaching me how to confirm check in and gave me a mixed bag of baked goods with/without fillings. If you like surprises, are omnivore & no special diets or food allergies, Too Good To Go is the way to explore. The items were in generic packaging without labels, so take a pic of the items you like so can order when visit next time. While my family enjoyed all the items, I really enjoyed the black sesame studded puffy rolls that I think were made with rice flour. There was a large group of older Asian ladies, including one who brought their lap dog, enjoying good conversations in their native language with their baked goods and tea or coffee. Another gentleman was taking a video call to help decide the best cake to buy. Will add this bake shop for a place to have a coffee meeting and to favorite in Too Good To Go.
