Got this on doordash so reviews might be biased. I had the pork bun, the bulgogi jianbing and the pibil pork plate. Pork bun was great albeit I didn't have any (DH ate it all before I could taste it). Jianbing with chili sauce was just ok. I really didn't understand it with the crispy wonton as a layer in the burrito but the bulgogi wasn't grisly like most are so it passes. My favorite was actually the pibil pork! Sauce with rice was tasty and I hadn't had plantains in a hot second so that was tasty. Not sure about the jianbing but might go back for the pibil if I were near by. Updating this review nearly eight years after we first came to this place. The food is still good, but whereas this used to be an actual cafe, with a spartan but pleasant seating area, it's now just a walk-up counter for takeout facing the parking lot behind the main strip of shops and restaurants. If it weren't for the small sandwich board sign on Murphy, you wouldn't know it's there. When we walked in, we were greeted by a completely empty counter and a couple ordering kiosks to the side. Not once did someone peek their head out from the kitchen to welcome us or inquire if we had questions about the menu. We placed our order and heard the ping alerting the cook in the back. After a short while a person emerged a bag, called our order number, and handed it to us. That was the only human interaction. We got the bulgogi jianbing and the pork belly jianbing. As before, they were quite good, especially the pork belly which was legit fatty and salty. It was a little messy to eat while seated on the benches at the Plaza Del Sol. The crepes seemed a little less sturdy than before and fell apart while eating. Still it was a good meal, it's just too bad that the experience was so much more impersonal than before. I love jianbing & the ones from here were ok. I might recommend not getting the plain egg one ($12.95) or only getting it if you're building-your-own / adding your preferred filling, as the chicken one ($16.95) that I also got, despite the steep price felt more worth it. All come with two eggs, crispy fried wonton crackers, sauces, green onion, cilantro ~ you choose which primary filling you want, then can adjust / add extra filling (pickled preserved veggies, lettuce, pork sung, ham, cheese, hot dog, etc) for extra $0.75 - $2. The chicken one for $17 without any extras seemed steep, but at least it was a large portion, and did come chock full of grilled bbq chicken (appeared to have fresh grill marks) glazed with a Korean-style bbq sauce, and which was fortunately not overcooked. Maybe some extra veggies would elevate it but when ordering I didn't feel like paying $1 for lettuce. *3/5* The plain egg one did come with extra fried wonton crackers, and seems like a good base for adding your own preferred filling = *2/5* without any additions. For both jianbings, I found the pancake skin-egg layer a little on the firmer side, and overall I think if veggies were included or cheaper, would be tastier. Overall, this isn't a place I would drive 30+ min to, but if I'm in the area I may return to try their bulgogi jianbing or build my own, and appreciate that this business is here. I'm a massive jianbing fan and really wanted to like Ktea Cafe since it's so hard to find a Taiwanese egg crepe place in the Bay. However, its jianbing is very different from the traditional Taiwanese jianbing-- the jianbing served here is overly crunchy without much egg flavor. The classic one without meat is very dry. The bulgogi jianbing, which has a $4 upcharge is better as it's saucier but still lacks egg flavor. Overall we liked the ease of ordering (right from the tablet, only 1 small table for waiting within the store) but the food was disappointing. read more

This eatery is located on the parking lot side of the building, and is just a takeout spot, so I ordered online in advance, and it was ready at pickup. There are a couple seats inside, but it's a small space. Ordered the pork belly jianbing, got it plain with just the egg, fried wonton, pork belly, and green onion...plus an extra egg. I got the bulgogi beef jianbing, which tasted better than I expected. Having spent many summers in China as a kid, jianbing has a lot of nostalgia for me and I have also yet to find a jianbing in the States that matches up to the tastes you get in China. This jianbing comes pretty close: the sauce is flavorful but doesn't overpower the over flavors, the crisp adds a nice variety to the textures, the meat is cooked well and has good juice, and the egg crepe bundles everything together. Honestly 10/10, will come back to try some of the other flavors and will bring some to my parents as well -- for some reminders of the homeland. It took about 10 minutes from ordering to get my order -- which is a bit longer than what you would wait in China, but not too long of a wait. OMG - they serve Jianbings here!! I've always wanted to try this Taiwanese specialty! This delicious savory crepe with egg (sprinkled in with black sesame seeds), with a crispy fried wonton, green onions, cilantro, garlic chili with a sweet bean sauce with the most delicious pork belly - was stuffed with - not lightly placed so you got a LOT! This was AMAZING!! We ordered on line and brought it home to eat (as there's not a place to really sit and eat there) AND I was worried that the fried won tons would go soggy - and they DID NOT! It was so juicy but the fried wonton gave it that PERFECT CRUNCH! Had a little heat - was a little sweet - a little savory - with that juicy tender pork belly! I definitely have found my go to now! We also got a few of their baos... the tofu and the bulbogi and they were so GOOD. The baos were soft and pillowy with just the right amount of meats/tofu - with the pickled onions for crunch and the sauce! Ratio of bao and filling was PERFECT!! Can't wait to go back. We stopped by here for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Your first impression when you pull up isn't too appetizing as the storefront is in the back of Murphy Ave where all the smelly trash cans and dumpsters are for all the front-facing businesses. We ordered a Classic Jianbing, which comes with two eggs and a crispy fried wonton, as well as some green onions and cilantro. The wonton is coated in what is supposedly chili sauce, although it tastes more like hoisin sauce to me. The jianbing itself is soft with a slightly chewy texture, amalgamating with the veggies, egg, and wonton to pleasurably satiate my carb cravings with this steamy hot Chinese crepe! It didn't seem too busy but we waited about 20 minutes after we placed our order before it was ready. There were also only two tables inside the relatively cramped interior, so seating is hard to come by. I recommend finding some of the benches on Murphy Ave if the tables are occupied. Overall, it's a bit pricey to be paying ~13$ for basically carbs and a thin layer of egg, but I'd come back again to give it another try the next time I'm craving this savory Chinese pancake! read more

I didn't add the toppings as there are added costs to each item if selected. I thought the standard classic would be fine. You would think that a basic Jianbing had something in it. Well, I was wrong. I felt like I just ate an empty shell here. Not good. I even tipped them 15% during checkout. No lines and no crowds inside. Ordered at self service kiosk. Overall, it won't be my type of place to revisit or grab a bite again, but for beverages, it's ok here. It's my own honest opinion. I don't plan to pay $0.50-$1 or $2 for additional toppings here. My friends wanted to grab Jian Bing while we were in downtown Sunnyvale. There is space for 2 very small tables on the inside, but I recommend taking the food to-go. You order on the iPad, and someone will bring out your food when it's ready. I had the pork belly Jian Bing, and it was great! There was a good amount of filling, and the portion was large. The food also came out pretty quickly. It looks like there was only one employee. They were pleasant and willing to answer any questions we had. When I was waiting for my friends outside around noon (before we ate) there were a lot of flies; since it is on the parking lot side of the plaza, this is also where a lot of the garbage cans are placed. I used to love this place. I'd come here every weekend like clockwork. But lately, something's off. The consistency of their food is all over the place, especially their jianbingguozi. Most of the time it is tasteless. I even tried leaving a note asking for "a bit more" sauce, but then they went overboard and ruined it. Today was the last straw. I visited K Tea Cafe sometime at the beginning of the pandemic and had a pleasant experience. I was in the area again recently looking for food and remembered that they were nearby, so I decided to go ahead and pay them another visit. When I arrived, it looked like they didn't offer any indoor seating, only outdoors. I wanted to take my order to go anyways, and saw that the only way to order was through their ordering system on the left side of the shop. I decided to get their beef jian bing ($14.50) and the fried chicken bao bun ($5.95). Overall, the taste of the beef jian bing was really flavorful. I used to get jian bing for breakfast when I was in Asia and always had fond memories associated with such a simple staple. K Tea Cafe did a decent job incapsulating that authentic taste. I recommend eating it as soon as possible though or else it gets very soggy and the crunchy portion will completely soak up all the sauce and chili oil. The bao was really small, but the fried chicken was crispy and served as an interesting twist to a traditional favorite. If you pay K Tea Cafe a visit, I would highly take into consideration the high prices for pretty small portions. As for myself, I'd still come back if I was really in the mood for jian bing, especially since I cannot find it anywhere else. My first time having jianbing in Sunnyvale and I was really disappointed . Ordered the beef one since after reading reviews, most of them said that was good. You can see by the photo that one section of the 4 cut pieces had absolutely no beef in it. Also, they didn't cut it through and I can my use my hands to pull everything apart which made the stuff inside fall out so I was a bit disappointed in that. Asked for chili oil, lettuce on side, and mustard but didn't taste any of that! Moving onto the other items ordered. We got the garlic crispy chicken and the corn nuggets. The corn nuggets were good. The only flavorful item of the entire meal since the corn by itself was flavorful. In terms of the garlic crispy chicken, it was disappointing to say the least. They just threw in garlic pieces onto the bottom (you'll see that in my photo). It was bland and a little bit salty and that was it. Texture was ok but no flavor. As for Assam iced tea, that was decent. Also, you'll need to order at the kiosk right at the door. There's no human contact with anyone. Why have an option on the kiosk to ask for dine in or take out if you're just going to pack all the food in to go boxes? We dined outside. They should have the jianbing in a paper or foil wrapper to make it easier to hold and eat. I wouldn't go back there. Overall, total was $43 including a small tip to support small business. Sadly, I would just skip the place entirely. I think it's highly rated because it's the only place in Sunnyvale to order jianbing. For the overpriced food, it was underwhelming. read more

I was quite hesitant to try a Jianbing with the hubby but I'm glad I did. The crunchy crepe/wrap was so good and filled with a lot of flavor. I'm a little picky with my meat so there were some bites where I received some of that extra chewy chicken which is a no no for me. Aside from that, I enjoyed it. The milk tea was quite strong and I don't mean that in a good way; it was quite bitter. The hubby once ordered a rose milk tea which was strong in the rose flavor but with a bitter aftertaste. I had the plain black milk tea which wasn't my cup of tea; and also very bitter. I would pass on the teas and stick to the Jianbing. As for dessert, I'm sad to say that they don't offer dessert crepes like they did before. I feel that if you have all the supplies to make a Jianbing, why not bring back the Nutella crepes? Have enjoyed jian bings (and their variations) from a fair amount of travels around Asia. But now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know if I ever had one in my own home country. I've always thought of them as being a street snack and not a meal. Glad to have stopped in at K Tea Cafe to try one of their jian bings because the pork belly JB was very good and filling. Personally, I like the ones made with a thicker crisp. Also ordered a special miso pork & garlic noodle entree but didn't notice that it was not available for another few weeks. The lady manning the front of the store was super kind and offered to make something comparable. I believe it was some kind of grilled pork jowl & garlic noodles. It was full of flavor, tender and juicy. I enjoyed it so much that I made sure she knew with the hope that it would be added to the menu. Because I want to come back for more! The Jasmine milk tea was flavorful as well. And as a note, I noticed they offered Splenda as an option for a sweetener. I prefer it over liquid sugar and haven't seen this offered elsewhere. I absolutely love this place! Of course I found it on Yelp when I was in the area visiting a client. What caught my eye was that they do not charge extra to use dairy alternative milks in boba drinks and they have a huge offering for both vegetarian and vegan on top of an already robust menu for everybody else. I will need to disclaim that I do have a Taiwanese bias here as they offer yummy things like jian bing and gua bao BUT these items are honest to God sooooo good!! For my first visit, I ordered the vegan jian bing. It which came stuffed with crunchy wonton sheets, vegan cheese, vegan bacon, and a spicy sauce all enveloped in a thin and delicate black crêpe with green onion and sesame. I'll need to warn you this is not great as leftovers because the wonton sheets get soggy, but this was super delicious when I ate the first half outside at one of their socially distanced tables. I'd like to also point out that K tea Café really takes their time in packaging their to go orders neatly so that the food will survive their journey. Even though my drink was packed into the same plastic bag as my food, it was set on a cardboard square so that it would remain upright and not tip over. Not only that, but the drink was in its own baggie just in case it leaked. All of this attention to detail reflects the level of care this shop gives to its customers. I had the privilege of chatting with the owner during my first visit. Katie was very friendly and wanted to make sure I was enjoying my meal. Ever since I first visited China in 2012 and had a taste of jianbing on the street, I've been searching for a place to get one in the Bay Area. I remember stretching frantically when I returned to the US, but wasn't able to find any place selling them. LUCKILY, I recently came across K Tea Cafe in Sunnyvale. I tried their classic jianbing, vegan chik'n bao bun, and garlic noodles. The jianbing was fantastic, just as I remembered. I WILL be back for these again. The vegan chik'n bao bun was rather dry, but the fake chicken was incredibly flavorful. The garlic noodles were delicious - garlicky but not too overpowering. I will also be getting these again. On top of that, their online ordering process is straightforward and easy to navigate, the service is fast (right on time with the prediction given at checkout), and covid-19 contactless pickup was a breeze. DON'T FORGET UTENSIL'S! Which in my opinion takes away from the eating experience of the Jianbing. I honestly thought I could order in person and just wait. However, I was wrong. You need to order on their website before making your way to their café. I had ordered their Beef/Bulgogi Jianbing with the addition of lettuce and dried pork. What a Jianbing is made of is the protein of your choice, egg, a fried wonton, green onion and topped off with black sesame. Back to what I said prior, eating your jianbing in the cafe was crucial to the experience of its gloriousness. Because since it's made with fried wontons you'll want it to stay crispy.
