Whenever we walk downtown we always crossed this little cafe. The wife and myself wanted some different and finally had the opportunity to go. When first walking in you get such a cozy home vibe here. The decor is very warming and comforting. The gentleman in the front was always aware of us in case we need to make an order, he was very attentive. The pastries and food do look good here but we wanted the coffee mostly. My wife had a type of Italian drink that had 2 scopes of your choice gelato, one espresso shot and topped with whipped cream and absolutely loved it. We for sure plan to be back. I only give this place 4 stars just because they have a small but delicious pastries. read more

Stopped in for breakfast -- the coffee was excellent, and the staff were warm, giving the place a great neighborhood feel. The food felt secondary. The breakfast burrito was small and basic, and the crepe seemed to be made with a pre-made shell, plus pre-cooked ham and bacon. The egg might've been cooked fresh. It doesn't seem like there's a full kitchen, which could explain the simplicity. Next time, I'll try a cold sandwich or baked good instead. Bean Scene is hands down one of the most amazing cafes I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The drinks are great especially the iced caramel macchiatos! I only ever see one barista working most of the time and they do a great job of balancing customers to make sure everyone gets their order! Very friendly staff and very great drinks. Needed a little pick me up today and grabbed a vanilla iced latte and mocha freeze from the bean scene in downtown sunnyvale! Vanilla iced latte was good! Not too sweet (one of the best compliments from an Asian)! Was pleasantly surprised by the size after going to so many coffee shops that charge the same amount but give you a cup half the size. Mocha freeze on the other hand was very sweet, but since that was what my boyfriend was craving it was perfect! Very chocolatey! Came here on a whim as it's nearby and I wanted to try a new coffee place and the Iced Island Latte sounded like the one I would get daily in Hawaii. I've been on the hunt for a local coffee spot in the Bay Area that makes an authentic hazelnut blended drink with strong espresso. I was really pleased with the hazelnut freeze flavor at this place, but I just wish it had been made a bit thicker and less watery. Staffs were nice and quick service on a sunday morning. I stopped by Bean Scene Cafe on a Sunday around 10:30am. I was surprised to find it was the only coffee shop on Murphy Ave. that was open at the time, but hey, worked out in their favor. Customer service was great. Nice employees and prompt service. I ordered an iced dirty chai latte and a baked item. My drink was exactly what I expected and hit the spot. I don't recall the name of the brownie I got, but it had marshmallow fluff and chocolate and was fantastic. read more

The location, parking, and vibe are excellent. The food is very good. The coffee, that's the problem. For years they have some people who can pull coffee and some who create a cup of brownish bitters masking as espresso. I ordered a small latte, not a cappucino. The foam was too fluffy, there was too much of it, and the milk was too hot. The wand is supposed to be inserted below the surface for a few seconds to start the foam, but then inserted more deeply to create a vortex to mix the foam with the milk. There are 2 coffee houses in Murphy Square - Bean Scene Café and Coffee & More. Initially, I went to both equally but now Bean Scene Café is my preferred spot because not only do they have great coffee & food, but they are environmentally aware enough to serve drinks in ceramic mugs and cups. Of course, they will put your drinks in paper cup as well. I have always believed that taking coffee in ceramic cups improve the flavor. Perhaps it is just my imagination, but at the very least I feel better not wasting a paper cup. If you come early on Monday mornings, you will probably see the Mayor of Sunnyvale holding court. He probably has a favorite table but he does not seem to have a designated spot, as I have seen him meeting constituents inside and in the outdoor tables. read more

We loved that if you order to stay at the restaurant, they give you actual coffee mugs. my husband had a breakfast burrito and I had a chicken melt. They were delicious too! Got delivery from them. The panini I got had the hardest bread it was like crunching a cracker but it was not supposed to be like that. The insides of the panini were delicious but the bread ruined it.
