I'm going to leave a 5 start review because I tell everyone about this place. I love the vibe, the quiet upstairs when I'm working, and the flavor bursting espresso but I've spent a lot of time here & a lot of days working from my computer to only have one bad experience. The brunette young lady working in 4/11/24 took my order and I could tell by her attitude she wasn't hearing me or interested so I repeated my order several times. Specially requesting my coffee for here (I swear it's more delicious in glass than a paper cup). However, a paper cup sat on the bar for extended amount of time. I assumed it was not mine as mine was for here. I asked the name after seeing it for a while and was told it was for "nick". After seeing others come and go and about 20 minutes later- I asked to check on and initially I do believe her intention was to ignore me. The nice fella with glasses assisted and asked my order. Then a young man said "it was the cup that was sitting her for a while" so I advised that was not my order and they themselves told me it was for Nick. Overall, I WILL ALWAYS RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I love it SOOO much and this doesn't change that but the brunette young lady I will personally try to avoid when I come in. read more

I've been a longtime visitor of Red Rock as I live so close. While the drinks themselves are nothing to rave about they do have an amazing study/work space on the second story with a great vibe at a low volume so you are able concentrate. The drinks come out fast but make sure to try to time out your visit not during a rush hour as it might have a long line and harder to find a spot upstairs. read more

The coffee here is very much just ok. I got a small iced mocha ($6) and they only have paper straws. But it's a great spot to get work done because there's ample seating (two floors!), ample outlets, and a bathroom, though the bathroom is a bit messy. The interior could use a facelift, it looks like it hasn't been remodeled or deep cleaned since over 10 years ago. They have open mics on Monday evenings, where they close the second floor at 4pm to set up, then host the event at 6pm. read more

$9.75 for a mediocre quality one shot medium (16oz) mocha! That's way more than anywhere else, including restaurants. No discount (unlike other shops) for only one shot. Other coffee shops no longer charge for non-dairy, but here they charge $1.75 for oat milk! I don't know where they source their non dairy milks, but it's no more than a few cents more, if not cheaper, for a few ounces of any non dairy beverage. read more

I got the Nitro Brew, which tasted solid. They have pastries from The Midwife and the Baker. We knew it would be good so we got the currant scone, which they heated up for us. The scone was amazing! Not too sweet and the perfect texture. The cafe has lots of seating (outside, inside, and second floor). Even on a Sunday morning, you should not have any trouble finding a seat. The atmosphere is great and many people were studying or working. One bad thing to note is that there was only one bathroom and the line was long the whole time I was there. read more

There are some days that I really don't know how I'd cope without chocolate covered almonds. Luckily, when I was at Red Rock, I wasn't having one of those days. I was fortunate to discover Red Rock Coffee through friends and visit here twice with them! The cozy and calm vibes were just what we needed to unwind, and I loved their little outdoor seating area, where we could enjoy our drinks while getting some fresh air. The Iced Chai Latte I ordered was perfectly chilled and had just the right amount of sweetness and spice. I tried this the first time I went and enjoyed it so much that I ordered it again the second time. My friend ordered a Latte that was so pretty I just had to take a photo! Red Rock Coffee is such a nice place to do some work while enjoying coffee, or to just relax and catch up with friends! This has become one of my favorite hangout spots and I look forward to returning soon. read more

Stopped by for a morning coffee and was greeted by staff right away. They offered plenty of latte options and let me know what they specialized in. I ordered a honey lavender latte with oatmilk. The 10oz coffee cost about $7. The lavender flavor was good -- wish the coffee was a bit hotter and the bitterness of the coffee would shine through a bit more. The coffee itself was nice and silky though! I'll probably try something new next time I come in. Also saw they host open mic nights which sounds fun! read more

I really wanted to like this place but the wait time and the coffee isn't really worth it. We came on Sunday around 10am and while the line didn't seem too bad, it took forever to get our coffees. The line did get worse as we were waiting but it just seemed like they kept taking in orders and the baristas couldn't keep up with the amount coming in. My fiances coffee was better than mine, mine was quite sour. I think some people appreciate a more sour coffee but it was definitely a bit of a surprise to me at how tart it was. Overall, i probably wouldn't come back to get coffee. While the baristas were super nice, I think the wait time and taste just really offsets the experience. read more

Funky coffee shop fusion with open mic events, a vaguely hippie vibe, an upstairs and downstairs, ample seating, with light snacks and coffee drinks. We got a coffee cake swirled with raspberry and their drip coffee with oatmilk. The coffee was awful, sledge and not clean sprightly flavors. When we asked whether thy had a medium roast, the guy at the counter said, "We only do light roast." Hmmm, seems pretty self limiting, but okaaaay. The coffee cake was so dense I got a work out just sticking my fork into it. I love the vibe upstairs, people tapping away on their laptops and hanging out. I can see a clientele base here that's loyal and for good reason. Maybe we got the wrong things and came at a "bad time"? The service was harried and not all that .... Would I go back? Literally a cornerstone coffee shop on Castro Street, Mountain View, this is the go-to coffee shop of mountain view, IMO. It always has an energetic vibe here and the baristas are dynamic and friendly. It is right near the farmer's market so it's a great place to go to before or after, or even bring one of the delicious pastries from the farmer market and enjoy with a coffee here. However, there is no lack of selection as far as accompaniments to your coffee here. The almonds croissant is quite distinctive and a specialty of theirs, as is there coffee cakes - I having a predilection for their blueberry coffee cake. They have plenty of seating both inside and out, though I have a preference to set one of their side tables alongside their classic granite building wall outside. On weekends though it can get pretty busy, so be prepared to stake out your table If you are in Mountain view looking for a coffee, you can't go wrong with this place. read more

Theres a few coffee shops in the neighborhood but this place has some of the best. I've had hot lattes and iced ones, both are great. The honey honey lavender latte is pretty popular- it doesn't have an artificial flavor like other places so I highly recommend. Red Rock Coffee stands out for its cozy, calm work space. overall, i like this cafe, and i'm very glad it exists. what they do to build community in MV is really appreciated and necessary. thanks, y'all. i'm also really glad they have sightglass on hand. the roast dates can be a tad stale, but having it in town is really wonderful for those around who really enjoy good beans. i get my standby here, a macchiato, and honestly.... i prefer the ones i get from their competitor down the street, but i do enjoy the location and people watching on castro here. the service has always been fine, and quick, but the baristas (while they seem like they're having a good time) aren't super friendly and don't make me feel especially welcome. i'll just chalk it up to them being so much hipper than me (probably) haha read more

Good ol' Red Rock Coffee is one of my favorite morning stops in downtown Mountain View for a number of reasons. 1. They roast great coffee and serve up delicious lattes. They're known for their honey lavender latte which is pretty tasty, though I myself enjoy their classic version. 2. Everyone working there is both chill and friendly - much appreciated in the morning when we're all groggy 3. Pre-COVID they had open mic night and art galleries on display (2nd floor.) It was fun to get work done in the cafe with some friends and watch live musicians and poets. I also saw from their calendar that they had other events pretty frequently- all of which should resume when things get back to normal in the year 3028. (hopefully much sooner than that.) 4. During shelter in place they practice social distancing measures via clear distance markings and serving beverage lids with tongs- great details in protocol to keep everyone safe All in all, I hope this place's lively atmosphere and fun community events return in the coming years, as I've really enjoyed the vibe of this place. read more

Nice little coffee place for post-lunch down the street. Visited for the first time yesterday. Not a coffee drinker, but did notice the standard options one would expect were listed on the menu boards Nice to see several tea options, even three green teas. While Green Tea is my drink of choice, it is always iced. This coffee shop only had hot green tea but gave me a large glass of ice. After steeping the tea and pouring on ice, it worked out perfectly. Limited bakery choices during my visit, but they were a little different than usual so worth it. Raspberry coffeecake! Can't resist. It was a fair size and loved it was fresh, even mid-day. The baristas were helpful with suggestions on my first visit and order here Seating inside in non-covid times would be an option with an estimated 6-8 tables. But times as they are right now, there are a few tables outside. Seems more people were taking their drink out with them and continuing with their day. Nestled within the hustle and bustle of the Castro traffic, in the heart of Mountain View lies this Red Rock establishment. It reminds me of a place you might find in the city or in Berkeley. Its got a good vibe and groove and is the welcome "study hall" for many students :) However, all that said what do I think about their coffee? Sorry to say, it is just bland. I mean if you are looking for a place for a nightime "Cup of Joe" you might want to stop by. I personally think their prices are a bit steep compared to the other places. However that said, rent on this street is not cheep. So they have to be able to pay their bills. They have a nice upstairs with a gallery. What I do not get is why a bunch of people on their computers go upstairs and the ones I saw were not customers. Now that is not fair to the establishment, Why don't they go to the library? Also the upstairs the last 2 times I was there had a peculiar smell in the air. My other friends noticed that too..so we quickly headed back downstairs. I mean if you want an ok cup of coffee and some other nice desserts, this is a nice and cool place to hang. If you go upstairs and sit when not overrun by folks on their computer, you actually have a nice corner view of Castro. read more

This place has been around for at least over a decade, and it's CRIMINAL that I've never swung in to grab a coffee until this year. Incredibly solid second/third wave (2.5th wave??? idk) cafe. Ordered a macchiato (the teeny kind!) and a large latte for myself. They brew Sightglass Coffee, which always slaps. Good tasting coffee & good milk. Will definitely swing by here again when I need good coffee at an unholy hour (past 5pm). read more

I've been here on and off over the last 10 years and it's remained consistent staple on Castro. I've always wondered how many big tech or business discussions happen at this location. It has a nice studying vibe upstairs that's perfect for hours of jamming on your headphones while you knock out some work or read a book. It's not a good place ot have conversations etc. Outside they have some tables that are fitting to sit outside and drink coffee. Inside there are also a few tables to sit as well. Overall I'd recommend this place mainly since it's a good central spot to catch up with friends and meet for a cup of coffee. As of this writing Castro Street is still closed downtown and I don't know if that will change anytime soon. read more

Quite disappointed. We heard good things about Red Rock from a friend, so have been wanting to check it out. First time we visited in late 2021 around the Omicron spike, there were 10+ people in line and plenty of others having coffee indoor, so we left due to COVID concerns. This weekend we finally caught a time when it wasn't as busy (Saturday noon). We got a small Nitro Flash Brew ($6 for 10oz), and a small Americano ($4.25 for 10oz). When asked what a Nitro Flash Brew was, the barista told us it's a variation of cold brew - made hot then chilled by nitrogen. Sounds fancy, when in reality it was disgusting - super acidic, zero coffee aroma, almost as bad as a $2.75 black coffee from Starbucks, except more than double the price. Can't believe this is one of their signatures ... the Americano was quite good though. Anyway, both the 1 OZ and the Starbucks nearby offer better cold brew at a cheaper price. read more

Tried their mocha and it was mediocre, nothing outstanding except the price. It was $6 for a small mocha. I gave it another try and got their honey lavender latte, pretty good and also I don't get it at other places most of the time. Very spacious, lots of tables for you to work or hang out. Nice coffee shop in the corner of Mountain View downtown. Coffee range from $6-7 for a standard iced latte, which seems pretty standard but perhaps slightly higher. The upstairs has a quiet area to work, and the location is prime for a nice Sunday afternoon. The shop even has chairs and tables outside, so definitely a nice place to enjoy on a warm day in May. read more

The lady who seems to run this place, who I'm assuming is the owner, is extremely racist & was so rude to my friend and I (we are both BIPOC queer people). We arrived at the coffee shop with three tables already placed right next to each other/touching so we just sat there & didn't know the tables were supposed to be separated so more people could sit. And instead of letting us know or asking if the tables could be separated, she passive aggressively moved the table apart & looked so rude our way. I brought in a bagel because they didn't have any and I didn't know there was no outside food allowed and I put it away as soon as this lady told me to. She was overtly frustrated at us, meanwhile she literally smiled so wide at the white girl sitting next to us. Also I didn't realize that this is the same coffee shop that hosted a open mic where someone made a racist joke about Middle Eastern people & they didn't do anything about it even after being told about the racism.
