They have outdoor dining with heat lamps! We ate here for lunch today in their outdoor dining. The ambiance is nice with background music playing. Each table has a sign to let you know they have been sanitized. We ordered the family bread bowl and sandwich meal deal for 2. It's a pretty good deal for $30. Two breadbowls with soup Two sandwiches Two cookies Clam chowder was okay, the butternut squash was good and sweet. I was craving clam chowder and grilled cheese with tomato soup, so I picked up Boudin for dinner. I ordered online for pickup, and they have all the orders out on the counter for you to grab. However, after locating my order and heading back to my car, a worker followed me out and thought I had taken a doordash order for someone that wasn't ready. I had to show them my name on my email and the bag to prove I didn't take someone's order. Not quite the best experience when you're accused of taking an order. Food-wise, everything tasted just as you'd expect. The grilled cheese and tomato soup satisfied my cravings. The clam chowder was okay, but it was a generous portion. I also had a side of fruit and side salad that weren't anything exciting. The cheesy garlic bread was good, especially after being reheated. I may go back if I really had a craving for any of these things, but my last experience left a sour taste. read more

The ingredients for this shake were as followed, sour milk, 2 cups of salts, half a squirt of hersheys caramel sauce, more sour milk, and some other mystery ingredient. This was the equivalent to your uncle asking to play with you alone in the basement, but this time I didn't want to swallow. Usually sour milk makes it nice and chunky, but that mystery ingredient must have been WD-40 or STP oil because that thing was smoove. To say that thing flowed like a river would be an understatement, I have never had a milkshake that liquid in my life, and I'm certain that I never will again. I don't know if their food is any good, but it makes sense that a place that makes soup would make a milkshake with the consistency of soup. read more

I love Boudin!! Sure wish there was one in Redwood City. They have a daily soup in addition to menu soups. My favorite is the rustic tomato. Then you can get a half sand and soup cup too. Prices are reasonable especially for those with families to enjoy a nice meal together. There's never a backed up line of people, why? Because their employees are super quick and not to mention some of the friendliest people! They seem like they all enjoy working at this location. This Boudin is a nice little place. Had the turkey and avocado on croissant. The croissant was as if just baked , fresh and crispy. Actually on this visit everything was perfect , and enjoyable They were out of a few items , that we have found to be typical in these COVID times , but the place was very clean , helpful staff and plenty of parking So looking for a quick bite this is the place to go. So he went and asked , it was extremely apparent they forgot about us. I finally got .y food at the 30 min mark, which was just a salad. Still no kids meal for our toddler. 35 mins in he finally gets his pizza. Apparently they Are also stingy as fuck because there was way less cheese on it than there should be. The left counter says To Go above it, so I stood in front of the right counter ready to order. The employee was standing behind the left counter counting money. By this point there is a line formed behind me at the counter we all thought you would order from. They've solved the problem of what a customer should do with the extra bread from the bowl. They allow you to pour your own olive oil and vinaigrette. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the chili bread bowl. Service (4/5): My food was served fast and presentation was good. I like that most of it was "serve yourself." Decent food, decent prices, and decent customer service. For some reason, I have been a regular at Boudin SF during the month of August... During my recent visits to this Boudin SF location, I ordered a Clam Chowder Bread Bowl and a side of Caesar Salad ($9.99), Grilled Cheese with Ham ($9.49), and a Chicken Caesar Salad ($10.49). The clam chowder was decent, but tasted similar to other clam chowders I've had in a can. The sourdough bread bowl wasn't fresh, but did its part as a bowl to hold the clam chowder in. The grilled cheese was pretty darn good, but was way overpriced for what you get. The chicken Caesar salad was tasty, and was definitely my favorite item out of everything I ordered in terms of taste + value. As for the customer service, it can be shaky at times. One day you can be greeted by the new guy who is happy to take your order, and on another day you can have your order taken by the supervisor who, at times, can be slightly grumpy and forgets to turn her frown upside down. All that said, I'll likely return to this Boudin SF location. read more

This review of one star is solely for the food. The staff there was friendly. This was the first time I've been to this place. The meal was quite possibly one of the worst meals I've had in a very long time. Ordered half sandwich half salad plate. Got the crab Louie toast and the crab Louie salad. It was a pitifully small amount (I really should have taken a photo). The one slice of sourdough looked like half of a slice. Filled with butter sprinkled with a wee bit of cheese and crab with no flavor. Salad had a lot of wilted leaves that were brown on the edges. There was no care at all given to the dish. We also ordered a chocolate shake and it tasted of some strange plastic. We did not drink it. We did inform the staff and was told it might be the straw. Took off the straw and took a sip. Still had a strange burnt plastic taste. $26 for everything but sadly, it was a waste of money. read more

We've live about a 7 minute walk from this Boudin, so we come here quite often -when we have coupons from the mail. Nearby Competiton: A. This place is located right in the heart of fast food row in Sunnyvale, with Rubios, Pizza my Heart, Panera Bread, Habit Hamburger, and Five Guys Hamburger all located within 150 feet, in case you don't like what you see at Boudin's, or you get stood up on a date here! Parking: A. Plenty of parking now that Trader Joe's has moved around the block, and with it the huge throng of customers. Total woman, Big 5, Habit Hamburger, Yumeya Japanese restaurant, and Peets Coffee don't have a fraction of the pulling power of Trader Joe's. Ambiance: B-: Boudin and ambiance are both French words, but that's all they have in common. This is not a place for romantic candle light dinners. It might be the place for a lunch date -a feeler first date where the woman invites the man out, with no romantic connotations in mind. Service: B-: You go up to the counter, check out the overhead menu, place your order, lighten your wallet, and take a number to put on the vacant table of your choice. Service with a smile -all graduates of charm school! Nothing wrong with this, except that I always get stuck behind people who either place an order worthy of Octomom and her kids, or are asking questions left and right about the various choices. My wife is always guilty of the last, and by the time we order, the line behind us has lengthened to 3 parties, all wearing black and all probably with coupons! Hygiene: C: tables are often unclean, especially the limited number of high demand booths. Our waiter simply brushed the crumbs off the table onto the fake hardwood floor. Not up to even Sweet Tomatoes standards, where they clean the table, the seats, and sweep the floors under the tables. Food: B: Their $7 New England clam chowder sour dough bread bowl is their piece de resistance. On New Year's eve they ran out of sour dough bread bowls, so gave us a 2 for 1 on the $6 soup alone. The soup is very tasty, creamy with potatoes, with a fish flavor, but not a lot of claims. Better than Fish Market. Not sure if our cats would like it, even though they like fish. I'm not a sourdough bread fan, and always get the multigrain bread as a substitute in my sandwiches. $8 turkey avocado sandwich had way too much mayo, and not enough avocado. Turkey seemed fresh, but hard to taste. My wife had the ham and cheese, and said it had way too much mustard. Sandwiches come with a side of lettuce. I have tried their $9 swiss cheese mushroom hamburger, and found the burger to be overcooked, a bit dry, and not enough pickles, and the bread crusty and hard. Value: C: not a good deal unless you have a 2 for 1 coupon. We had two sets of four 2 for 1 coupons, one for our neighbors which was put in our mail box by mistake -which we did not return! $9 hamburgers, $8 sandwiches with lettuce, or $6 bowls of soups, hard to justify even for SF sourdough fans. You can get a a $5 meal at Habit Hamburger, or Rubios right next door. Specials: A: Periodically Boudin has specials, like their salmon dishes in the summer: salmon salad with oriental noodles, salmon burger, salmon sandwich. I was in salmon heaven, out of control, day and night, getting 2 for 1 coupons from my neighbors left and right, and eating salmon like a Grizzly Bear! Bathrooms: C: bathroom was clean but cramped -no puddles in front of the urinal. They ran out of paper towels to dry my hands. Didn't check it that also applied to toilet paper! Finale: C: There was a French family in the next booth to us with two toddlers. Naturally I had wife sit next to them in the booth. As they were getting ready to leave, the two toddlers climbed over the partition next to my wife saying goo goo gaga over and over. Even I can understand that French! Leaving just in time! This French family learned the hard way that Boudin may be a French name, but it is definitely not a French restaurant! read more

The best part was that you can come back in a couple weeks with the receipt and get another BOGO offer. I came here for dinner last night with Ken L. The line wasn't too bad. I went to the location in Cupertino lat year on this day and it was busy... so busy they ran out of clam chowder and offered their other soups instead. Our clam chowder bread bowls came out quickly and our soup was hot. Love their freshly baked sourdough bread too. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their bread bowls, sandwiches, or salads.
