Hands down one of the best mediterranean food spots in the South Bay. The beef and lamb gyro tasted fresh and flavorful. I also love their baba ganoush. Whether it's in person service or take out, I am never disappointed.
I've been here twice in just one week, and both visits were great! The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The meat was tender, flavorful, and beautifully marinated. The portions are generous, everything tastes fresh, and the presentation was lovely. I especially enjoyed the rice,it had a really nice Mediterranean touch. The desserts were fresh, and the Turkish coffee was absolutely amazing. Definitely a place I'd recommend and come back to!
Hummus in downtown Mountain View - one of those spots that's usually not crowded / no wait even during peak hours which I love. Service is also pretty fast. You have to ask for water if you eat there and you pay first then sit down. Was craving Mediterranean so came here - I got the chicken gyro plate and my bf got the lamb/beef gyro plate. Both were good, not mindblowing but solid. Portion sizes are good and everything tasted fresh, salad especially We also got the pistachio milk pudding for dessert and that was actually soooo good - super creamy and def the highlight Overall a solid reliable spot if you're in the area
A friend who lives in Mountain View suggested Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen for a group lunch. I don't know if this place would be great for a huge group, but they were able to accommodate our group of six people in the outside seating. Their outside seating is on Castro Street and was very comfortable, though we weren't under one of the sun umbrellas, so it did get very sunny. It was convenient to have counter ordering so each person could pay separately. I had the Mediterranean bowl, which had rice, crispy chickpeas, a kind of vegetable salad, some cabbage, some rice, hummus, and some cheese. I also had them add the lamb/beef gyro for protein. It was really good and very filling! I ended up taking half of it home since there was so much food. The menu had a lot of standard fare, but they also had additional Turkish food that looked interesting. I think if I went back with a group, I might try the hummus sampler or other sharing things.
This was the perfect place for a large group. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. They were great about us having one number for the table. There were six of us and the first order came long before the next four. Then there was a long pause before the sixth order came out. The food was delicious and plentiful. Togo boxes are available at the counter. A code is needed for the bathroom which was clean.
Got the breakfast plate (for 2) on sunny Sunday morning. It came with plenty of a tasty spreads and a ton of pita and a pot of tea. We had a lot of leftovers. The savory things like sausage and olives were portioned for two people but there was more than enough of the sweet jams and pita. It was a fun tasty experience and would try other items!
Other places were full and with long wait. So decided to try this. Noticed it wasn't crowded - which did worry me. But decided to give it a try. Avoid the place. Quality is okay, not bad. Quantity, for the price, is not that great. Fries were not crispy at all. Falafel plate came with half a pita. Chicken gyro ? We have had better at other place. Saving grace was Baklava. Taste was really good. Other annoying thing is - the door doesn't close automatically. And heater was hardly on. So on this cold day - I was getting up and closing the door multiple times as people entered or left without closing it. They have written a note in 3 languages asking people to close it. Why don't you just put a better door closing mechanism. Wont be coming again here - multiple other options available on Castro street.
Popped in and grabbed food to go. Plenty of seating inside. Mediterranean bowl $16.50: fried chickpeas and hummus were the highlight. The rest of the fillers were ok. I feel like Oren's gives more bang for your buck. Falafel $4: dry and not the usual taste or texture I am used to. I would skip this. I will say their service(at least for food to go) is faster than Oren's.
Best lahmacun and the most authentic Turkish food in the Bay Area. Every time I go to Hummus Mediterranean, I feel at home almost like I'm back in Turkey. The staff is always warm and welcoming. Their weekend Turkish breakfast is a real feast with all the flavors I miss from back home. The patio in the garden is my favorite spot in Castro spacious, airy, beautifully designed and decorated with lovely olive trees. This is my go-to place for delicious Turkish food.

Hummus is tucked away on Castro Street where a plethora of restaurants are situated. I usually feel you can't go wrong with Mediterranean food and they prove that right. Their menu has a variety of plates, salads, wraps and flatbreads-something for everyone. I appreciate the bright, simple interior space and their staff's upbeat demeanor. I tried the Fattoush salad and added falafel. They were able to accommodate dressing on the side and the warm pita that came with it was a nice touch. It's order at the counter and seat yourself while they bring it out. It's good, but nothing extraordinary. I rank it as a reliable lunch choice. This new spot on Castro hits the mark. From the simplicity of the restaurant to enjoy outdoor seating with covers to make you feel like you're on vacation to the food. You order at the counter and they bring the food out. Naturally, I was drawn to the appetizer sampler to try little bit of everything and glad I did! For around $18, it was so filling that I split my meal into two. The hummus is creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious but the best part - the falafel that is simply relaxing on the top - crunchy, moist, balanced, and scrumptious. I thoroughly enjoyed the babaganoush, the other eggplant dish, and tzatziki. Everything was so fresh! We also really enjoyed the pita bread that came along with it. I'm hoping the other food on the menu will be just as good and that they'll keep the quality of the food consistent.
I came here for a work lunch. Generally I avoid Castro Street because it can be crowded and parking can be difficult to find during peak hours. Hummus has both indoors and outdoor seating. We opted to sit outside since it was a nice day. We were a pretty sizable party of 10. It seems they were a bit shortstaffed that day, but they graciously moved three tables together so that we could all be at one table. They took our order at the table, which I'm not sure is standard since they seem to be an order at the counter place. So I thought it was nice that they were accomodating us! I ordered the falafel wrap combo with fries and a lemonade. The wrap was pretty sizable! The falafel were very nicely made, fries were good as well. I wound up eating half of the falafel wrap and fries and took the rest home. The tzatziki was very flavorful and accompanied the fries nicely. I would definitely return!

Overall our food came all at different times, they got one of our orders completely wrong, and the chicken itself was incredibly dry and way too burnt. We came on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 3 and each persons dish came individually with such a long gap in between that basically one person ate and finished their plate at a time. Our last friend had his wrap order messed up and took even longer to eat (probably 20 min after everyone else had finished). The chicken was very very dry and had a ton of charring/burnt pieces that we ended up asking for more ketchup to help eat it with. The server forgot out ketchup order so we ended up walking up to ask for more ketchup and was handed a measly two packets (as if ketchup was really expensive)? Later the same server came by with a side of pita - I think she misheard our original ask for ketchup and somehow thought we wanted more bread instead? We were pretty disappointed in our experience here. read more

This is a classic Bay Area Mediterranean chain. This particular location has sort of limited seating and you order at the counter. I really liked the tzatziki and pita here. Loved this place! Can't believe I haven't been here before, it's such an aesthetic place with good food. They had a lot of options, including veggie options and we loved the food. Convenient location on Castro. You order at the counter, get a number, and they'll bring food to you. Portion size is decent and expected price for being in downtown MV. Reason for 3 stars: the food is fine, but somewhat bland. Lacks the usual seasoning expected for Mediterranean food. Even the chili sauce isn't very spicy or flavorful. Very happy with our experience here as a fast casual Mediterranean dining place. We ordered the house combo plate which is what I would highly recommend getting! It comes with a good amount of food, the kebabs were well cooked and it came with sides of rice, salad, tzatziki, and pita. With a side dish of something else it was a good amount of food for two. We also tried the appetizer sampler plate to try all the different sides, however I would only recommend that if you know you like them all. Some of them were delicious but I didn't care for others. Hair in the wrap?! I ordered a wrap here recently, and honestly, I'm pretty sure the back kitchen isn't as clean as the front, because I found a hair in my wrap, right on top, super obvious. For these prices, how do you even serve food like this? What's the difference then from a random Mediterranean food truck? Seriously, it's a joke. Of course, I couldn't even touch it, I just left my plate and walked out without asking for a "replacement meal," because who knows how the next one would be made. Great Falafel & Weekend Shakshuka! I've tried a few things here, and overall, it's a decent spot for Mediterranean food. The falafel is fresh and well-seasoned, and the classic hummus is good. One standout dish for me was the shakshuka, which is available only on weekends until 12 or 1 PM. It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and something I'd definitely come back for. On the other hand, I wasn't a fan of the olive and feta hummus--it just didn't work for me. If you visit, I highly recommend trying the shakshuka on weekends! read more

Delicious food and Turkish tea. The food standards and quality are similar of that you would eat in Turkey. The staff were so friendly and the guy has given us free pot of tea with our food as we were not sure if we needed a full tea pot or one cup of tea. And the tea is absolutely delicious and aromatic. We sat outside which was okay but not much space. There are many tables inside too but its a bit noisy. read more

This is a place where you order and they deliver to your seat, so not full service. The ambiance felt pleasant and casual and my food came out quickly. I got the combination plate which I liked a lot. There was a lot of meat which was all tasty. The veggies and rice and pita were all fresh. I paid $25 plus optional tip for this which is a little on the pricier side, but for the amount of meat you get it feels reasonable. Mixed reviews for this place. There were inconsistencies with service here. When we asked the cashier what was good there, she was a bit disoriented and didn't understand what we were asking?!? So we just rolled on and ordered... We ordered the appetizer sampler and the house combo. The appetizer sampler only comes with one pita cut into 4 pieces. It was not enough bread for a sampler that costs $18. We had to pay for extra bread for the appetizer sampler when it was technically free. Then they did not bring it out the pita bread. We had to ask for it. Then they said they only like to bring a little to keep the pita bread hot? That would be a good explanation if we actually got the pita bread. There is a health/wellness fee with each order which I didn't see advertised anywhere on the wall menu. I rather dining establishments charge more for their items than trying to hand off the medical expenses to the customer. Then you are shocked by the extra charge when you see the bill. There should be an option to opt out of it if requested like in Chicago. They did give us free pistachio baklava. That was nice. I also liked the fast casual aspect to the place and it is somewhat affordable for downtown MV. The food is actually good but I wish the service matched the food quality. We recently went to Hummus Mediterranean in Mountain View and were not disappointed! Our favorite dish was the Lahmacun. So good when it's fresh. They even have its own hot sauce that takes everything to another level. Their Hummus Flight allows you to try different kinds of hummus. We still liked the classic hummus the best but the flight is worth trying if you feel adventurous. A must try for foodies! The meat was cooked perfectly and you can't go wrong with anything. If you can't pick, go for the House Combo so you can taste a bit of everything. Ohhhh, and just order the Turkish Coffee with the Baklava. Chef's kiss! read more

Food is amazing. It is actually the best mediterranean food ive had. I usually do not like Lamb, but you have to try out the lamb here. I got the house combo which includes rice, chicken, lamb, and beef. All are super amazing. Atmosphere is also amazing. I love the aesthetic of the restaurant. It is a pretty chill dining area. Very delicious! Got the beef cubes pide and it was awesome! Had a pizza vibe but this pide did not have any cheese, so ideal for the dairy-free. To me, the Turkish spices were complementary though subtle. Found Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen on Yelp while searching for a lunch option on Castro street. The food looked good and reasonably priced (especially when compared to some of the other Castro Med. establishments). It was counter ordering, then you get a number and the food is brought out to you. Naturally I couldn't pick just one meat so I ordered the house combo to try them all. I was really impressed with the quality and flavor of the meat, especially the beef kebab. I was expecting this to be similar to the Koftedes, but it was straight up steak. It was cooked about medium, medium rare, and was better than anything I was expecting. Chicken was also good and full of flavor, nice and juicy too. Also liked that the lamb and beef wasn't too salty. We also got the hummus flight to share, and my coworker got the salmon wrap - which he liked. Hummus flight was a good move so that we were able to taste them all. Favorite was the olive and feta hummus, with the regular ole hummus coming in at second place. The beet hummus was good, though a little sweet to eat as a whole serving - great as a small portion. And the chipotle hummus was good as a small portion as well because it had a little more heat than I wanted. The pita bread was the only thing that didn't impress, it was pretty average, but still a good vessel to scoop some hummus into your mouth. Food took a little while to come out, but everything tasted really fresh, definitely would prefer that over having everything ready and out quick. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The space was nice and bright with lots of natural light, and they had plenty of plugs in case you want to get some work done while there. read more

There wasn't a bunch of people there and for some reason the food did take longer than usual but we didn't mind because we had a bunch of stuff to catch up on. Came here for lunch with friends on Saturday and it was great! We arrived around 12:30 and it was pretty empty, though it got much busier an hour later. The indoor seating was so cute but we chose an outdoor table since the weather was nice. I got a fattoush salad with chicken breast and it was so yummy. The chicken was perfectly grilled and flavorful and the salad was really refreshing. I also loved the side of pita that came with it. The wrap was somewhat on the hard and chewy side. They also charge a health safety fee, which I have not seen in a while at any place I have dined at. The restaurant inside was cute and modern. The door is super heavy so be careful and make sure to use muscles to pull it open. read more

had a craving for healthy Mediterranean food and decided to try this place for takeout, but once I arrived, I was so impressed by the bright, inviting dining space that I decided to dine in instead. The staff was incredibly accommodating and quickly offered a seat and brought water for me and my partner. The food was fantastic--the baba ganoush was a standout, and I couldn't stop eating it!
