Came here for my sisters birthday. I saw the most recent reviews and was a little hesitant on coming here but my sister wanted to go so we went through with it. My first impression of the place was that it looked very instagram photo worthy. Beautiful restaurant and I loved the mirrors going towards the bathroom. I also liked the way the bar was set up. Drinks were my favorite thing about this experience. Super tasty and I loved the creativity behind the drinks. The food was delicious as well. My boyfriend and I got the Mexican sashimi and the bone marrow. The bone marrow didn't have much marrow in it but I loved how crunchy the toast was that came with it. The Mexican sashimi was great and I loved the spice kick that it had with it. The service was not worth the 20% auto gratuity but I understand that's what you have to pay with a large party. He might've been training because he had someone following him so maybe that was the case but it also seemed like we were his only table. It wasn't super busy since the World Cup games were going on and people are at other places. One of my friends drink didn't come with the usual cotton candy that her first one did so we asked for some to add on and we watched him walk over to the service well and stand there chatting. I thought he was waiting on the bartender to get him the cotton candy but after a while I realized he wasn't getting the cotton candy. This was a better late than never post Valentine's Day celebration for me. I have been wanting to try this place for months, but not alone. Finally, someone with the same cravings brought me here. It was a slow weekday night. We were the only customers there, so for a second, I thought my date booked the whole restaurant (what, a woman can wish can't she?). Our waiter Michael O. was AMAZING. He did a few awesome fire displays with our drinks, and calaveras! I enjoyed his energy as much as I enjoyed the food. I had the Valentine's Day special, which included a nice sized steak and a lobster. The flavor in the steak was perfect. Nicely seasoned, and tender. The vibe of this place was really good -- it definitely feels like a fun spot for a party or group gathering. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. This place claims to be "upscale Mexican," but it really feels more like a spot for social-media photos than quality food. We had a kid with us, and there was basically nothing on the menu for children, so I wouldn't recommend it for families with kids under 10. We were visiting from out of town and picked this for a birthday dinner, but it ended up feeling very underwhelming and overpriced. We had salmon entree. the salmon tasted good, but the rest of the entrée lacked flavor and wasn't cooked well. We ordered a few extra sides hoping they'd help, but honestly none of them were good. The steak street tacos were also disappointing; the steak was super fatty and full of gristle. The fish tacos were okay. The crisp tortilla appetizer was good, and the Playboy Bunny drink was actually pretty tasty. Service was slow. Apparently this place is a popular birthday spot. We were there for a spontaneous birthday dinner and didn't realize this was the go-to place for that kind of thing. First things first, make sure you make your reservation ahead of time. We had our reservation at 5:45pm on a Saturday and only waited 5 mins to be seated. The cocktails are amazing. We tried the BBL, El Cántaro, the Pasión Traicionera, and La Toxica - can't go wrong with any of them! The BBL was our favorite with the tamarindo tequila and spicy citrus kick to it. The Pasión Traicionera was well presented, the drink arrived on fire, and it tasted as if you were sipping this drink on a tropical beach. We tried the steak pasta and the ribeye steak. The steak pasta was full of flavor and has a nice spicy kick to it! The portion was a great size, and I would get it again. I wished it came with vegetables; however, you can add a side to it for an additional charge. I recommend you upgrade your steak plate to prime style so you can have the sides of mashed potatoes, asparagus, and sauteed onions because the steak plates do not come with sides. As for the food, we were given complimentary tortilla chips/ dip and also ordered a calamari appetizer which I DEVOURED. Can't go wrong with these. I also ordered the mini street tacos which come in 5 pieces compared to the birria tacos that only come with 3. It was good, but not to die for yk? It tasted a little plain and soggy, but their house sauce made it better. I get it's an upscale/ pricy restaurant with nice ambiance. But If you want BOMB tacos, you're better off going to a taco truck in downtown on a weekend at 11 pm. What I did not like was that they offer to take your pictures (if you're in a big group and LOTS of pictures) only for you to pay for both the picture and frame that they offered to take for you. I feel as if a simple question would've avoided this and wouldn't have went through all that hassle. On the bright side, I love their drinks. La toxica is good, but their lychee martini never fails me!!! Other establishments are stingy with their alcohol and barely taste it, while tostadas has a good balance between their liquor and mixes. Service was amazing. Servers and the manager always checked up on our table, asked if there was anything we needed, etc. Overall you're pretty much paying for the ambiance and the performances they do for celebrations. We returned from dinner at Tostadas Prime and were surprised to receive an email from OpenTable stating that the restaurant marked us as a no-show, which was clearly incorrect. This has never happened to me before, as I've never missed or been late for a reservation. I hope they resolve this issue. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the service provided by Jay, who was professional, courteous, and displayed stellar communication skills. The food was generally above average, with our favorite dish being the skirt steak. I ordered the Enchiladas by the Sea, which I found a bit bland and could have used more seasoning, though the addition of carrots on the side was a nice touch. We also had guacamole, which we thought needed more salt, and the bread pudding, which was generously sized--so much so that we took most of it home. We appreciated the service, the ambiance, and the parking, which wasn't too difficult since the restaurant is located in a large plaza. The food is expensive, but I think part of it is paying for the ambiance. They have a full bar against one wall, exposed kitchen area, and overall kind of a clubby lounge loud kind of restaurant. Inside is a cool looking modern Latin vibe restaurant with decorations on the walls. They have fire dancers on Friday and Saturday nights, which adds an extra element of entertainment to the dinner. I was shocked to see how diverse and vast the menu options were that had things like steak, pasta, tacos, and sushi! Our favorites were the birria tacos and the burrata and steak bites. Bursting with flavor and a good amount of food to share. Two things I took a star away for: the music became really loud at one point which isn't necessarily a bad thing because it adds to the fun environment but something to keep in mind if you actually enjoy talking during your meal. The larger thing I thought was odd was when I ordered a casamigos and soda they ended up charging me $2 for soda water with each drink. I thought that was strange... usually you get soda added in at no cost when you order premium liquor. So I probably won't be doing that again here. We've only went to the tostadas on Santa Clara street and we've had tostadas prime on our list for quite some time. We had amazing service - almost too attentive lol we were asked multiple times if we were getting what we needed. It was awesome. We ordered oysters on the half shell for an appetizer. Everyone automatically gets chips and bean dip on their table - the dip is ok, but would prefer a spicier salsa. The wagyu sushi was amazing- my only complaint was that it was too big to fit in my mouth lol. If you're not into spicy, do note they have fresh jalapeños on them- it was fine for me but not so much for my husband (he took them off). The Cesar salad was good- do note that they don't do any side salads so you will have to order entre size. The steak was amazing! I had a few bites of my husbands and it was heavenly. The ambiance was like a nightclub - and it looks like they do a whole big thing for birthdays - not sure if that costs extra but was very cool. I have heard from other people the food is okay and I agree. This place is more of a hype on social media but I don't think it's worth the money for food. Service was okay. We ordered a couple of stake plates that came with meat that was so incredibly tender with crazy seasoning, topped with grilled green onions. Expecting the traditional experience, we brought our own 0 carb tortillas, which they happily took it into the back and heated for us. They loved our feedback so much that they brought us a couple of Oyster Rockafellers on the house for desert. We had multiple appetizers, with the stand out being the cheese and chorizo, we had the shrimp as well (very good). Fish tacos were also quite good, the portions were sufficiently large; thought we would get to a steak, but didn't happen . . . Ended with sushi. Noticed some reviews criticizing the sushi, it was FINE. We are at a Mexican place trying to give options, we are not at a sushi-ya where the expectation is fine grade sashimi flown in from Japan daily. Incompetent structure on Mother's Day- We had an 8:15pm reservation for Mother's Day at Tostadas Prime in San Jose for 4 of us, including one pregnant guest. We arrived right on time and were told multiple times we'd have to wait. We weren't seated until 9:10pm -- almost an hour later. I don't understand the point of taking reservations if you're going to force a pregnant woman to stand around for an hour anyway. Once seated, our server greeted us once and then vanished. We had to flag down staff just to place an order. For a restaurant at this price point, that's unacceptable. When the food finally came, the quality was shocking given what we paid: * Fire Salmon Sushi Roll - $27: Found a hair in it. * $60 NY Steak + $30 "Prime" upgrade: Paid extra for it to be "prime" with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a reduction poured over. Ordered medium, came out overcooked and tough. At $90 total, that should've been perfect. * Burger - $24: The patty was shockingly small -- literally smaller than the tomato and lettuce on it. * Calamari - $20: Rubbery, clearly overcooked, with a pile of loose batter at the bottom of the plate. * Guacamole: Completely bland, no flavor. The only redeeming part was the drinks. The Old Fashioned and cocktails were well-made. To the manager's credit, he was extremely professional. He comped all the problem items from our check and sent over complimentary shots to apologize for the 55-minute wait. I appreciate the gesture and it was clear he cared about making it right. Even after the comped items, we still paid $150 for 3 drinks, 2 appetizers, and a half-eaten steak pasta. That's outrageous for what we actually got. Free shots and comped food don't excuse hair in sushi, a $90 steak cooked wrong, and service that abandons your table. The structure of the restaurant feels incompetent -- there's no system for handling reservations, no communication, and no quality control in the kitchen. Being busy is one thing. Making a reserved table of 4, including a pregnant guest, wait an hour on Mother's Day, then failing on food and service, is another. For what Tostadas Prime charges, the food and service need to match the bill. Tonight, they didn't come close. I won't be back. read more

Went here with some coworkers. The ambiance is that of the, Day of the Dead. We started out with 12 oysters, calamari and guacamole. Everything was tasty. We all ordered the 20oz wagyu ribeye. Before the steak comes out the sever brings a box of steak knives for us to choose our own knife. The steak had rosemary on top and butter. The steak cut so easy and was so soft when it hit my mouth. The only downside was there was a lot of fat. They also had a lady walking around with fire sticks and putting the fire sticks in her mouth. I also noticed another couple ordering the largest steak and they brought the steak out on the cutting board and let the cutting board on fire. This place has a lot of great theatrics.
