We visited this place on Saturday at noon for brunch. There was a derby that day so it was relatively packed but we didn't have to wait very long before we were seated. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating available, but the outdoor seating was in demand. The ambiance was really nice, it's on a quieter street but the restaurant was lively. The waiter was super nice and polite in explaining the menu and taking our order. We ordered: - Fried Chicken and Waffles - the chicken and the waffles were crispy and delicious, there was no substitute for the sausage gravy (but it is on the side) - Waffles and Berries - Delicious, Sweet and Fresh - Sungoddess - Light and perfect for a brunch Overall, the dishes we ordered were delicious, but it took a while for the food to be served and we were waiting for quite some time before they came. I came by with a party of 4 for Saturday brunch. The service was good and so was the food. I ordered a Breaky grilled cheese sandwich and it came with a choice of ham or bacon. It ended up being way more delicious than I expected and I loved the side of fruit as well. The creme brûlée French toast was delicious as well, I'd highly recommend it. We went during happy hour on a Friday evening. We sat outdoors and their was a live band playing. Just note it may be a bit loud if you happen to come when someone is performing. Overall amazing vibes and very nice staff. I felt the food was just ok, nothing special. The tater tots were delicious though. They had pretty good happy hour deals and a good amount of options so I'd be willing to try this place again. I wouldn't recommend the Chicken Carbonara. Easily the worst dining experience I've had in years. Came here during a "First Fridays" local event this evening. There was a street band performing on the corner right in front of the restaurant that even though we were sitting indoors, caused my family and I to have to literally raise our voices in order to hear each other across the table. I ordered the Post Bourbon Sour. It was so weak I had to question whether or not there was actually any bourbon in the drink. The menu was uninspiring and overpriced for the items on offer. Disappointed, I took what I thought was the easy way out and ordered the fish and chips. What arrived was three fish sticks on a bed of bland french fries; not a beer-battered fish fillet or anything resembling that. Served with hollandaise sauce on sourdough toast Avocado Toast: not just for millennials (sorry). This version served with cherry tomatoes on sourdough. And a side salad. Good, not great. Smoked Salmon Benedict: a large tasty portion. English muffin AND roasted potatoes. The Hollandaise sauce is silky. Chicken and Waffles: fried chicken is legit -- moist inside and crunchy out. Waffle could be a bit more cooked. Didn't need the gravy. Red Chilaquiles: a little spicy and a lot tasty. Put the pickled Jalapeño on more things. The chips didn't get soggy. Try it! The menu is extensive and I've liked everything I've eaten for all the meals. They have plenty of outdoor seating and service is excellent (attentive without being intrusive). Service was a bit slow to order, both at the bar inside and in the outdoor seating area. But the cocktails were fantastic. Tito's blackberry lemonade was just a tad sweet, and the snuggler without whip was a boozy peppermint hot chocolate, so yummy and a nice treat to sip on in the outdoor patio on a cool evening. Wasn't too cold out there though, as they had plenty of outdoor heaters as well as the body heat of visitors dancing and vibing to great live music by Wandering Acoustics for the Los Altos First Friday event, sweet sounds of the guitar, tambourine, percussion, and violin, the band performing an awesome playlist including Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears, The Way by Fastball, and even some Elvis. Food was OK, but def. had higher expectations and ended up leaving with a full but unsatisfied belly. The downtown Los Altos area is small and lively, & same goes for this place. We sat inside on a weekend during brunch/lunch hours, place was packed but we only waited around 15 minutes for a table which wasn't bad. Service was super quick and efficient in the beginning, then got a little slower throughout the meal, and then pretty much got ghosted towards the end (LOL). I think we had to ask for a box and the bill 3-4 times from 3-4 different ppl but it was hella busy & honestly we weren't in a rush anywhere so wasn't a big deal. Food talk: (1) Calamari - this was OK overall, it was crispy and piping hot with a good portion size. Loved the jalapeño but sauce was meh. (2) Chicken & Waffles - this my least fave, the skin was super crispy but actually felt overcooked and the inside was also a bit too dry. The waffle was basic, nothing special about flavor and texture was bit too sturdy. (3) Turkey burger - this was good, the turkey patty was juicy and tender with a tasty sauce + cheese. Bun was lightly toasted and buttery, fries were nice and crispy but could have used some seasoning. (4) Post Power Bowl with Salmon - expected way more out of this. I'm all for health with the expectation that there is still some flavor there. The salmon was a bit overcooked and needed basic seasoning, also the quinoa and veggies lacked flavor and were all just too soggy. Def one of the weakest bowls I've had compared to other places. (5) Cocktails - Ketel One Peach lemonade & Sangria - the peach lemonade was just too sweet and tasted like a really bad spiked lemonade (that I legit just had to chug BC it couldn't be sipped & I don't waste liquor). We ate here last night when 9 of us had to meet in Los Altos and I found The Post on Yelp. It was a drizzly kind of night and we ate outside, but the waiters were very helpful in getting an umbrella moved, etc.. Actually, I have to say that all the service was excellent and that certainly isn't the case at many restaurants anymore. Do not miss the Brussels sprouts - they were the best we've ever had. Oily, yes, but the flavors of honey, citrus and bacon were wonderful. The calamari was ok, but the fried jalapeños were amazing. The turkey burgers were great despite including the aoili that we had asked them to leave out. The fries, sweet potato and regular, were excellent as were the tator tots. Salmon was good (a bit oily), the salmon taco was deemed excellent as was the quinoa salad. Desserts were also great - hot cookies and milk, gelato (delicious) and a surprise birthday bananas foster dish. I was super disappointed with the service last time, but since my last visit, it's gotten better! Two people actually checked on us multiple times to see if we were okay, and everything came out in a timely manner. I genuinely recommend these tots as a side! The hot chicken sliders were so much better than anticipated! "Only" 3 pieces, but man... it's really filling! We have been meaning to come here for some times since they have a nice outdoor patio, but there's often a wait for dinner. We finally dined here the other day in the late afternoon. I had the watermelon mojito which was big, but was too sweet for my taste, and wasn't strong enough. Normally I expect to get a bit tipsy before the meal comes but it didn't seem to do anything! We had the black bean empanadas to start with which were great. I was hesitant at first since sometimes vegetarian empanadas aren't that tasty, but these were perfect. They are small empanadas with a perfectly crisp and fresh pastry shell, and the filling is surprisingly tasty for being bean based, and I loved that it was super cheesy. The tomato soup was good too- not too creamy. We had the Burger, subbed with a chicken patty. The toppings were fine, and that bread was soft and fresh, but the chicken patty itself was flavorless and kind of dry. wouldn't recommend. Places like this aren't always kid friendly so I was happy that they were. They had high chairs, and the servers brought my kids markers and a coloring book. read more

I can't say that The Post is terrible. I can't say it's good either. I kinda gets a well earned middle-of-the-pack rating The burger is a thick and cooked medium well beef puck served on a brioche bun. It's 80-20, lightly seasoned (which is a win) that you've probably had before at other places. The bun looks nice, but doesn't handle the grease better than any other brioche bun you've gotten. Fries are slightly under-cooked, so they can be a bit floppy, but not so bad that you're eating raw potato. The BLAT is also a bit heavy on the grease with the exceptionally lightly toasted bread heavily doused in butter and the bacon being a definition of crisp in that it's not exactly floppy. They're fine. Are they $20 fine? Not really, but you're paying for location and overhead, so sure. Could you make better at home? Probably, but at least you don't have to do the dishes. It's the kind of place a friend invites you to for lunch, but not really one you'd go out of the way for. read more

My wife had the Tri Tip dip and I had the fish and chips. She did up grade to the tator tots. The Tri Tip tasted okay but was so tough to chew she gave up eating it not even half way through, thank goodness she got tator tots to fill the gap. My fish was really good but my fries weren't hot, again thank goodness for tator tots. The owner/manager came over and apologized which we appreciated and took it off our bill. Sunday afternoon. Walked in and sat at the bar immediately making eye contact with the busser and what I believed was the bar tender who was milling about. I was not offered a menu, not was I greeted upon eye contact. 2 minutes pass. 5 minutes pass. Busy is one thing, but bored and inattentive are inexcusable. This isn't pismo beach where 80% of customers are one time tourists. This is Los Altos. Downtown. We used to feel like a community. The two women to my right close out their tab and leave. We're now creeping past seven minutes of zero acknowledgement of me sitting at the bar. The couple on my left get served wine and food. The bar staff, this entire time, make passing eye contact and continue to ignore me. The bar is not busy. There is another waitperson working the patio and no one looks rushed. At this point I get up and leave to take my business to the one amazing ethnic Eastern European bar and bistro, where I'm sitting and writing this review after having a personable and very pleasant bar experience. Buyer beware. As a business ownint family in Los altos for the last 35 years, this is saddening to see our quaint charm and smiling faces of local business staff being replaced by bored and inattentive automatons. The ambience and decor are attractive and inviting but sadly poor staff attention to the customer experience have just made it a sure thing that I won't be returning to give this eatery another chance. One of my favorite spots in the South Bay! The Post has a super cute outdoor dining set-up, and they are now also offering indoor dining. They have great rotating specials, so there's always something new and exciting to try! They also do special events like champagne and vodka tastings! For appetizers, the Buffalo Cauliflower is a must-get! The beer batter is nice and crispy on the outside, which I love! The Ahi Poke is a stunningly colorful tower of ahi, avocado, and mango. The wonton chips create the perfect complimentary crunch! For salads, the Candy Figs and Prosciutto Salad is great! It has a well-balanced blend of baby arugula, toasted walnuts, goat cheese with balsamic dressing, olive oil, and a side of grilled crostini. The Seared Seabass Butternut Squash Risotto is the epitome of Fall! Delicious, buttery seabass with figs on top of a sizable piece of butternut squash--a really yummy combination of flavors. The risotto underneath is so good too! I was impressed by the BBQ Pork Bowl. It's quite a large portion! It comes with sautéed kale, roasted sweet potatoes, quinoa, egg, and shredded pork. The pork was tender and flavorful! Definitely recommend these two dishes! Now on to dessert! The Post works with local business Namesake Cheesecake to offer their rich and creamy cheesecakes! The also have a Banana Split Brulee, which is a showstopper! It comes with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, fresh strawberries, toasted walnuts, and whipped cream. So decadent! Spent a late afternoon i this space last weekend. Wasn't sure what to expect, but left with such a smile. We tried so many things. So much so that a few had to come with us for the next day's repast. Stone fruit salad. Beet salad. Filet sando. Salmon tostada. Beet hummus. Sea bass. And chicken nachos. I can't testify to the beets as I believe I was fed beets as a child as punishment for misdeeds and as a consequence cry every time one makes its way into my mouth. But. Just like baby shampoo, there were no tears shed over any of the other dishes. Loved the nachos and the filet sando so juicy and tender. Loved it all, actually. But I think even more than the food was the worker vibe. They all got along so well, from the front of the house to Chef in the kitchen. The outside area seems nice, not that many cars driving by and not too loud but it seems unorganized. The hostess sat us down and we got water and utensils from bus servers but we had to wait around 15 minutes for a server to approach us. The food took an additional long time as well. It seems more like the couple servers dedicated to the outside space were too busy to keep up. The grilled peach burger was good. The peach, blue cheese and sweet chili sauce came together for a very flavorful though slightly odd, not in a bad way, flavor. I asked for a medium rare burger and it came out to be medium well and slightly dry but the cheese and sauce helped cover for it. It was an interesting bite that I would potentially get again. The mac and cheese waffles with chicken was a miss. There was no flavor of cheese in the waffle. Seemed like pasta was just pressed in a waffle maker with waffle mix. The waffles were fine but it was just weird with cooked noodles in the mix. The chicken was cooked pretty well and was juicy, but it seemed to lack flavor. Only thing could do was add butter or syrup that was included onto it. Don't think I would get it again. The food was alright and the service was lacking a bit probably due to being too busy for the amount of staff they had. The price was also definitely on the higher end. I probably wouldn't come here again. For similar price and just precious good food and service I would go to rustic house or go to one of the cheaper breakfast places further down Main Street. read more

I enjoyed dinner at The Post last Friday evening. In addition to a good meal, I was looking forward to listening to the music of Wandering Acoustics. They were superb, as always. I ordered the tri-tip dinner with roasted veggies. The veggies were amazing. I'll be honest, the tri-tip was below-par, but still quite edible. Dessert (I got gelato -- one scoop each of Mexican chocolate and pumpkin) exceeded expectations. It was delicious. The highlight of the night was the service provided by our server, Marcella. With poise and professionalism, she attended to all our needs throughout the evening. Her personable nature and genuine kindness are tremendous assets to her in that position. I want to open my review by saying I had the best French toast ever at The post. Was perfect in every way. Lightly charred, right amount of sweet, a light creamy touch with the creme brulee. I am drooling writing this! We also got the crispy chicken sandwich and loved it too. They come in 3 little sliders form, oh and we took the tator tots for the side and was such a deep fried goodness. We took the leftover tator tots home, reheated and had as a snack in the evening, was still so good. My fiance loved the cocktail he had - bourbon sour. I called in my order at 1:45pm on a Saturday, and it was about a 15 minute wait at that time. The waffle was solid, but got a little soggy in the box (I hope they add a small vent in the corner for future orders to prevent this). The syrup and sausage & gravy added even more flavor to this dish. Although this dish was delicious, it is priced very high at $29. The chicken pieces are huge, but it would be nice if you could choose either 1 or 2 pieces of chicken, and pay less for the 1 piece of chicken option? This was more than enough for 2 meals for me, and I would rather order less and finish the entire dish versus having to take leftovers, especially for fried chicken. Still highly recommended! -Namesake Cheesecake (Served w/Berries, Strawberry Sauce Drizzle, $10): I've been trying to checkout Namesake Cheesecake's storefront for a while now, but they are only open T-F from 12-4pm. However, I thought the sauce and berries overshadowed the cheesecake a bit, and actually enjoyed eating the cheesecake on its own. The cheesecake was thick and creamy, but still fluffy. I loved the buttery graham cracker crust, and that the cheesecake wasn't overly sweet- Highly recommended! I will definitely be back to The Post to try their other dishes, and for their chicken & waffles! They have indoor seating available as well as a giant outdoor patio. There are large TV's set up at the bar inside and also mounted outside if you want to watch sports, etc. while you eat. All staff were wearing masks correctly, and they had hand sanitizer. I learned it grab my cocktail in hand when I saw some one approaching. 6 of their 10 outdoor heaters were broken, tables and chairs looked a worn and disheveled. A revamp before summer would be great. - Food: Cocktails: Aperol Spritz, French 75 were both done well as these are our go to drinks. The bartender had a nice hand of balance and blend. Appetizer: the shrimp cocktail was fresh, chilled & crisp. The cocktail sauce on the other hand needs major attention; a little doctoring to a jarred product can go a long way. Entree: The flatiron steak was perfect, it was the one highlight of the evening for me. I like my meat med-rare to rare side. They paid attention to the request and landed on perfection! Seasoning and peppercorn drizzle was scrumptious. Fish & Chips were meh, not horrible; just blah. They have the crisp factor down and perfected the batter to fish ratio (unlike their neighbors at Rustic House- soggy city). The fish was fresh and fell apart in your mouth but the batter had absolutely no flavor. A seasoning change or splash of beer would change the game, especially with the crisp factor being so nice. Dessert: The Cheesecake: If you are a cheese lover and prefer your cheesecake thick, loaded with cheese flavor and less on the sugar - this will be your jam. Absolutely worth coming back for on its own. The Banana Bread Pudding: my daughter is a banana bread aficionado, so when she saw this one the menu that was it and truth be told the reason why we made the reservation for dinner. Good lunch spot for outdoor dining on a nice day. We tried this spot out after hiking in Cupertino the other week because we were looking for a place to do some caloric damage since you know we totally "earned it" on the trail. As for that mission, check we nailed it, here's what we ordered - Chicken nachos - The cheese, chips were good but was hoping for some pico de gallo or cojita cheese additions, kinda plain. - The Post burger - this is a good solid burger, i believe the pickles were sweet pickles if thats your thing. You get a choice of tots, reg fries or sweet potato fries. Service here was also very good, they got the side of starch wrong on our burger order but proceeded to bring out a side of the missing tots without hiccup. Oh yeah while oogling some other tables orders, the brussell sprouts looks amazing, would def get those next time. Also this restaurant was by far the busiest on the street for lunch, always a good sign. read more
