Common name for a Chinese restaurant in the bay area. It was a good sign when most of the clientele were asian. The cumin lamb was pretty darn good, I would get this every time. The whole fish was as it should be, great. The dish with shrimp paste filling on deep fried tofu and bell pepper and eggplant was also real good. No wait for party of 2 on a Saturday around 1pm, though it was quite busy. I was happy to see they have the rolling carts since that's harder to come by nowadays. We got the shrimp steamed rice rolls, steamed pork spareribs, turnip cakes, bbq pork puff pastry, and har gow. I liked the steamed pork spareribs which were tender and turnip cakes the most. Har gow skin was a bit too thick and tough for my liking. Bbq pork puff pastry had an off ratio of too much dough and too little meat, but still enjoyed since this is one of my favorite dishes. Shrimp steamed rice rolls were a bit bland even with the sauce, but I liked that they had big pieces of shrimp that were cooked well and not soggy. Service is pretty efficient and straightforward. (Exterior looks old and was deceiving ). Glad we decided to give this place a try instead of going to our usual dimsum place which will be 15mins drive out. Food - 4/5 dimsum is great. We ordered multiple dishes. The ones that stood out to us and love by the team included BBQ pork bun, cilantro roll, seafood egg noodle, crispy sesame ball and egg tarts. I also like how they kept the oyster sauce separated from the steamed Chinese broccoli dish which makes it easy for folks to adjust the sauce to their liking. Most places dribbles the sauce over the steamed vegetable which spread unevenly and you get some stems that are either overly concentrated in the oyster sauce while other stems lack the sauce. Surprisingly, there were plenty of empty tables when we went at ~11am. I thought people usually come early for dimsums? The restaurant became full by the time we left at 12 though. The carts stopped by our table immediately after we sat down, so we were able to pick up ~8 or so dishes right away. There were a couple dishes that I saw on other people's tables, but I didn't see them in the carts that kept passing by. By the time new carts came out, we were already pretty full. 3.5 stars I think Fu Lam Mum is just ok. The huge issue for me was the skins on the dim sum were a little tough, and I like them softer and more pliable. For example, the har gow, shrimp chive dumpling, and zha liang skins were tough. The taro dumpling was also a tiny bit sour. My favorite thing I got was the preserved pork and century egg porridge which was very homey tasting. If I come back, I'd try things that didn't have skins like the tofu rolls and maybe their gai lan. Service was okay though waiters were a little difficult to flag down. I came on Sunday lunch at noon with party of two, and waited about 15 minutes for a table. Dining here was suboptimal on so many levels that we felt like we were in a bad reality TV show that was testing our limits. First, we were met by an impersonal and abrupt host who set the mood. This was followed by a string of bizarre experiences. Shortly after being seated, we flagged down a server and asked for a menu. She lifted our tablecloth to reveal a QR code. The QR code took us to an online menu showing our table number, but we couldn't order from it. We could only view items and click on them to zoom in. We flagged down another server and asked about the QR code. She told us to order off the menu and not use the QR code. Over the next 30 minutes, the same three carts with the same dishes kept passing us by while severs would occasionally deliver dishes to other customers' tables. We asked again for a menu and were shown the QR code under our tablecloth. We explained that it didn't work. So, the server fetched us a menu. After spending an hour here and only sharing three plates, we realized that this place would be a huge time sink if we tried to eat more. So. We cut our losses, paid the bill, and went home to satisfy our hunger. On our way out, we saw customers eating outside on the street. Because the food carts couldn't reach them, they would leave their tables to walk up to the sidewalk to view food on the carts. My hats off to them for having a higher tolerance than I for enduring all the nonsense. read more

Huge of this place! My family came for dinner last Wednesday evening to also celebrate my nephews birthday. We ordered a huge amount of food from dim sum to core dishes like chow mein, fried rice, sweet & sour pork, chow fun, Chinese broccoli, won ton soup, and more! Everything came out on time and also made fresh. The food is flavorful and will definitely stuff you. I'm a huge fan of their duck! The meat and skin is so tender and crisp.
