Got the first signature item on the menu. No mods allowed. The large is more than enough for two adults. Fast service. Soup was on the salty side and not as tasty as the location in cupertino. So oily.

I like how there are both spicy and completely non spicy options. They do give a good portion of fish and toppings but I found the fish to be a bit overcooked and the overall dish to be very oil heavy, more than suan cai yu usually is. Service is friendly and they do give free refills on the rice, although I can't imagine you'd need more than one bowl of rice because it is quite large.

    Signature Hot-oil Sauerkraut Fish soup

2/16/2026 Fish With You 156 Castro St Mountain View, CA 94041 I went on a rainy Presidents Day and parking was not a problem in the city structure behind the restaurant. The place has a huge orange fish on the Castro Street sidewalk. The interior is long and narrow with a modernistic table, chair and bench setup. Since there were only two other parties I was seated promptly and ordered the recommended Signature Hot-oil Sauerkraut Fish soup. It came in a large shallow bowl swimming with dried chili peppers and Szechuan peppercorns with a bowl of rice on the side. The soup and contents were super hot and stayed warm until I was finished about 20 minutes later. The soup and fish were noticeably salty and the soup was not that spicy and did not have any vinegary taste. The crunchy pickles were thinly sliced wide planks and did not have much taste. The similarly wide rice noodles were slippery and hard to handle. The fish was mild and a little rubbery, probably to hold together in the soup. I can see how this can be addicting with the peppers and peppercorns but it was too salty for me. Maybe an occasional repeat, it's good.

Grand Opening in downtown Mountain View! Their signature pickle fish soup was delicious -- the fish fillet was very tender, and the soup was incredibly flavorful. If you're not a fish person, they also serve stir-fried chicken dishes and beef soup with different base flavors (tomato, pickle, etc.). Each soup is designed as an individual portion, but you can upgrade to a two-person sharing size. You can also customize the side dishes and order appetizers to go with your meal. Good portions, reasonable prices, friendly service -- a great casual spot to check out!

Always a great experience at fish with you. I prefer the sichuan pepper fish over the hot oil infused ones . If you like spicy soup this place is for you !!! Pros They always have dinner meal combos on their QR code menu so something to look at before ordering The fish soup is large and can be shared among many people Less wait time & service is very prompt Cons The menu can be confusing, the prices are different for the type of fish you get

This is a brightly lit restaurant that is quite busy and has a giant fiberglass fish sitting out front. Now you'd think that I'd realize that a restaurant with a giant fish out front and with the word "fish" in the title the thing to order here was FISH and not chicken. Well, I ordered the chicken dish. The chicken was tasty but they sure skimped on it. There were only a few very small pieces of chicken in the bowl. For $18 there should have been a lot more chicken present. Maybe they are feeding the chicken to the fish! Also beware of the spiciness of the broth. The menu showed that it was at a level 2 but I requested a level 1. The first thing I did was take a sip of the broth and it was VERY spicy! Thank goodness for the glass of water in front of me. I did have the opportunity to taste one of the sauerkraut fish bowls and it was delicious. The broth wasn't exceedingly spicy and very good. It does make sense that a restaurant that specializes in fish has delicious fish dishes. Even though I made a mistake in ordering chicken, I shall return and order fish!

Small Green Sichuan Pepper Sauekraut Fish Soup ($19.99)

Actually so delicious!!! Big shareable portions & everything is so flavorful. They specialize in sauerkraut fish but they also have other delicious flavor combos and beef options as well. I enjoyed everything, but my favorite was the Green Sichuan Pepper Sauekraut Fish Soup! Spicy, sour, and so comforting. I highly recommend upgrading your fish soups to snakehead fish for extra silky delicate slices! Also, all the dishes come with a side of rice which is really nice. Amazing 10/10 service. So attentive and they look like they are genuinely happy to see you enjoy the food. Place itself is very well-lit and bright; the layout reminds me of restaurants straight from China!

So good! I love fish, especially fish fillets in soups over rice or noodles. If you like it too, definitely come here. There are so many options for flavors, and I've already come back 3 times since I tried it for the first time two weeks ago.

Sichuan green pepper fish: more strong mala flavor which I loved! Nice how you can choose veggies to add and the I really liked the sauerkraut and it added a lovely pickled vegetable to cut through the oil. Portion was very large. Over time the entire dish cooled and was not as enjoyable after but initially really good! Chicken tenders: funny item to order at a fish restaurant but tasted standard fried chicken. Nothing too special. Brown sugar rice cakes: tasted like standard soft chewy rice cakes. Brown sugar syrup was not too sweet. I like the slight crisp outside. It had some sort of soybean powder (?) sprinkled on top which was tasty, and added a hint of nuttiness Coconut lava balls: crunch on the outside and soft an warm in the middle, had coconut sago in the middle, fun to try but not my favorite Overall servers were very efficient and everything came out back to back! Not a big fan of the bright white and orange theme. Felt very sterile and luminescent but suppose it's part of the brand. Would return but perhaps ordering a smaller portion. All of this was a lot for two people!

I got the signature hot oil sauerkraut fish and was not disappointed! This was my first time having this dish, so I'm no expert. It is, by my estimation, delicious. In the future, I would switch out the default sweet potato glass noodles for a veggie or tofu, since the rice on the side (necessary to cut the spice) made noodles unnecessary. I surprisingly loved the "celtuce," or green bamboo sheets (I originally thought it was lettuce misspelled lol). Service was fast and friendly! Ambiance was casual, quick, and clean. I will definitely be coming back.

    Signature Suancai & Fish

WHY WAS THIS SOOO GOOD??! I am a sucker for some really good soup, and that's basically all they serve here. I highly recommend the Laotan Sauerkraut Basa Fish or the Signature Suancai & Fish!!! Wow sooo yum! The broths are both so tangy and savory. The rice and potato noodles perfectly soak up all the flavor. The fish was really tasty of course, but I prefer the basa fish over the snakehead. Overall, I would come back just for this! The Princess Tomato Soup was decent and worth a try, but it's much more thick in consistency compared to the Signature. A really solid non-spicy option, but similar to other Chinese soup spots. The basa fish was so tender and cooked perfectly though! They were really generous with the enoki mushrooms and tofu (customizable). Tomato adds a strong acidic sweetness to the broth. Located in the walking street of Downtown Mountain View, expect to look for street parking or garages. It's conveniently located to many other restaurants and boba shops! Definitely check it out.

    Beef golden soup
    Kimberly H.

This was my first time trying out this style of dish and I really enjoyed it! I got the beef golden soup since I wasn't in the mood for fish. It already comes with a lot of other sides, such as enoki mushrooms, cabbage and more. I definitely think it's worth the price for the amount of meat and sides you get. I also tried the snake fish from my friends' bowls and it was soft and delicious. I was craving malatang but this definitely satisfied what I was craving, I think the beef golden soup is actually pretty similar to what I wanted. My friend got the green peppercorn and that soup was not as spicy, but still tasteful. We went on a Thursday night and it was easy to grab a table. Service is also nice and fast, we got our meals in roughly 10 minutes or less. Lights are a bit bright and environment is a bit on the warmer side, but OK especially at night. Overall I would come again!

A bit loud but tables were quite full. We ordered the potstickers as a starter. They were nice big and juicy. I ordered the lemon chicken and white rice for lunch. The lemon chicken was dry and the sauce didn't taste like traditional lemon sauces I've had. The rice was a bit hard but edible. My partner had a chicken salad and she seemed to enjoy it. While I was disappointed in my selection hoping it was a one off. They also do not have fried rice which is my favorite. Overall good restaurant just need to fine tune their rice and lemon chicken.

We ordered the string beans, salted egg corn shrimp, xiao long bao, pork buns, cabbage dry pot, and black pepper beef. Most of the dishes lacked flavor and were noticeably oily. The pork buns were especially disappointing because the dough was overly thick and dense compared to the filling. The biggest letdown was probably the black pepper beef. The meat quality was really poor..a lot of chewy pieces with tendons, and it was hard to enjoy because almost every bite felt tough. Definitely not what I expected from a restaurant with this reputation. Overall, aside from the duck, the food felt heavy, bland, and not very balanced flavor-wise.
