We came here on a Friday afternoon (holiday week) and were seated promptly. The waitress was very accomodating for the baby in our party and checked up on us often. There is a QR code to scan where you order online like most chinese places nowadays. Food was good, I expected more flavor from the broth but it was still okay! Big portions and lots of beef in my noodle soup. Even though mine was quite red it was not spicy at all.

I had heard about this restaurant for a long time, but I always hesitated to try it because I'm not very good at eating spicy food. This time, I decided to give it a try. I was happy to see that there were some non-spicy options on the menu. Among the three noodle dishes (one spicy and two non-spicy)we ordered, my favorite was the pork rib and chanterelle noodles, which had a flavorful broth and chewy noodles. The pork ribs were perfectly cooked -- so tender and soft. Although there weren't many chanterelles, the broth was still quite savory. We also ordered fried stinky tofu, which was quite special and worth a try.

I've heard people describe noodles as "bouncy," and I've even used the term myself, but I never truly understood what that meant until I ate at Hunan Mifen. Their rice noodles are unbelievably slick and bouncy! There's really no better way to describe them. Somehow, I must have walked past this place a dozen times without noticing it tucked away in the back corner of the plaza. The menu is helpful, with photos and a clear chili pepper legend: no chili pepper means you're safe, one chili pepper is when things start getting dangerous, and as for two or three? I wouldn't know I was already sweating at one. The meat wasn't as tender as I expected, but I appreciated the DIY station with cilantro, black vinegar, and scallions for customizing flavors. If you like spicy food, this spot is a must visit!

So good! Got a table right away and ordered through a QR code. Food came out in minutes! Ordered a delicious spicy beef soup that was so incredibly flavorful! Rice noodles had a good texture and appreciated the generous portion of pickled vegetables.

Hunan Mifen is one of our regular spots for a good noodle fix. The ordering system can be confusing at first, so recommend looking at dishes online or on Yelp to decide what you want. I've gotten the signature beef noodles (just once) and the braised beef noodles (multiple times). Their warning is warranted - the spicy beef noodles are no joke! The flavor is there, I just personally wouldn't go that spicy again. There's rarely a wait when we go to the Saratoga Ave location, and we're always able to stay and order more.

Hunan Mifen is a good option for anyone who wants a quick lunch or dinner after work and are around the area. I came on a thursday during lunch, and the restaurant was filled very quickly. The soup broth was decent and not too heavy, the super spicy beef bones came on the side, so you can add them in based on your own spicy preferences. They are quite spicy, so be careful! The spices from the beef do add a nice flavour to the soup, and it makes the overall dish quite delicious.

Spicy Noodles and Popcorn Chicken

Came here with some friends after badminton, and we were pretty hungry so we tried to find some place that was close by. One of them suggested this restaurant, and since I hadn't heard about it before I was curious to try it out. The interior isn't too large, but our group of 4 was able to be seated pretty quickly inside. I decided to try their spicy noodles along with their popcorn chicken, which both were served relatively quickly. They give a pretty good portion size, and the soup does have a kick to it! The flavors in it were great and the consistency of the noodles was solid, with the solid, juicy chunks of meat adding to the experience. The popcorn chicken were also great, and honestly rank pretty high up there in terms of ones I've had. Definitely recommend checking this place out, and I'm glad my friend suggested it!

Amazing spice level with broth!

So delicious! This is the type of noodle shop I could not find while in Texas and was so eager to get back to the Bay Area for. We had stopped by after doing some car shopping and given that I am six months pregnant, I was naturally starving. They do not scrimp on the spice levels which is EXACTLY what I wanted. Service was quick-- the broth we had was so delicious and you could see the nutrient quality in it. I am going to have order some broth for post partum after I have my babies. It was a very clean establishment as well!

Hot noodle soup in winter time= best combo The soup base is very flavorful and very hot. I especially like the tomato beef stew. The meat is SO tender with very flavorful tomato. Definitely recommended. They also have a lot of spicy options for those who loves to challenge! Plenty of sitting. Spacious with very friendly servers. Lots of parking. Will definitely return!

Tried a noodle place today and was pleasantly surprised! It is in the same shopping center as Lion Market (supermarket!). I ordered the rice noodles with beef flank and it was super tasty! I ordered the food to go and it was ready when I arrived. The broth was still very hot when I returned home and was good. Not too salty nor bland. It came with the meat separated from the noodles as was the broth. It also had a small cup of cilantro and green onions chopped up that was fresh. The noodles were very soft (like they should be) while still firm. Overall a very good meal!

Rice Noodles Topped with Bu Beans and Minced Pork

Had a stressful week? This is THE PLACE to go for a sweat-dripping, nose-blowing bowl of spicy noodles that will make all your problems disappear (...temporarily, until you finish your food and have to face reality?)! I was a bit skeptical of this place since it doesn't have a lot of reviews, but Hunan Mifen is so authentic and I love that the staff walked around to pass out napkins to every table, knowing that we burn through it quickly to wipe our sweat, tears, and mucus away. Here's what we got: Rice Noodles with Pickled Cabbage and Beef Brisket (5/5): the noodle texture was absolutely incredible-- so bouncy and slurp-able. The broth was so flavorful yet light, and while I'm not typically the biggest fan of pickled veggies, these pickled veggies complimented the noodle soup so well! Then to top it off, this was most tender beef briskets I've ever had! This dish has one chili sign and it's equivalent to a Hot Ones spice level 3, which is not bad at all. Rice Noodles Topped with Bu Beans and Minced Pork (4.5/5): the noodles were, again, phenomenal. When you mix all the toppings together with the dry noodle, the dish become so flavorful. Personally, I think this dish is a bit saltier than my palate prefers. Though this dish only has one chili sign on the menu, the spiciness was equivalent to a Hot Ones spice level 7, so beware! I can't imagine how 3 chili signs would taste... Salty Crispy Chicken (5/5): the chicken was soooo juicy and they were perfectly fried. The batter was amazing and not overly salty. Green Bean Soup (4.5/5): the soup was delicious and refreshing, but it is sweeter than the average green bean soup.

Very good! Nice to try The taste is likely to be Chinese food. I recommend this rice noodle with braided beef!

Nice food, nice service, nice price. Definitely will come back. I wish they can open one in Tri valley.

The wagyu and chicken soup were both outstanding -- flavorful, hearty, and healthy. Here's the part that took it over the top for me: they had accidentally forgotten our fried tofu. That's top-notch customer service. I'm now a promoter and will definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend!

The omelette was done right, not dry, but the black bean jajang sauce was really what made the dish. Beef Jjamppong - noodle soup with beef slices and mixed vegetables. It is straightforward with a good mix of udon, rice dishes, small bites, and drinks, which I really appreciated. The food felt delicate but still had layers of flavor. Nothing was heavy or overdone. The rice was one of my favorite parts. It was crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly inside, which made it so satisfying. The chicken karaage was also really good. Crispy, tender, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you order karaage. The only thing I would probably skip next time is the mixed sake drinks. They are fruity and fun, but they tasted like they were made with sugary syrup. So if you do not want a sugar bomb or you are watching sugar calories, I would stay away from those. The inside has a cozy feel that reminded me a little of something you would find in Japan, but with a bit of an American touch. It felt clean, casual, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive without making anything feel rushed. Also we had our son so they brought share plate without us even asking for him. I loved that they considered that. For the amount of food, the quality, and the overall experience, the prices felt well worth it. We will definitely be going back. It is one of those places that feels easy to recommend because the food is good, the menu makes sense, the service is warm, and the whole experience just works. We arrived around 5:50 PM and it wasn't busy but maybe 30 min in it was crowded and by the time we left there was a wait so plan to get there earlier. This was on a Wednesday as well.

The Nam Vang came with sliced pork, ground pork, and one prawn in a clean, savory broth--light but flavorful. The filet mignon pho was a solid upgrade: tender beef, silky noodles, and a broth that leaned richer but still easy to sip. Noodles had a nice bounce in both bowls. I was craving a vermicelli bowl or bánh mì too, but heads up--they only serve pho and noodle soups here. No rice plates or sandwiches. Thank you to my bro and his fam for treating us out to some Mother's Day noods!!!…read more My bro and his family are massive fans of Kali Noodles + Tea Bar. Even with them moving out to the East Bay, they make periodic drives just to enjoy what KN has to offer. I've had one dining experience here previously and was not impressed. This lead to not returning. Fast forward 2.5 years or so, here I was again. Our large party of 9 arrived at opening hours and the owners were so very welcoming. The restaurant was clean and the condiments were in tip top shape. Our family's order was massive. We started the meal with xiu mai [Vietnamese pork meat balls] and Chinese donut sticks. This then continued with mi do bien, filet mignon and beef ball pho, & a variety of nam vang noodle versions. The great thing about Kali Noodles are the multiple options of noodles they provide. There are a number of combinations that could be made with the 6 offerings. The food was surprisingly really good- so much better than what my first visit was. The bowls were presented neatly but plated in a way where the large chunks of lettuce made the bowls seem a lot more fuller that it really was. The noodle soups also consisted a lot more broth than noodles. Having said that, the egg noodles are really really good!! The restaurant cooks them perfectly- chewy with a slight bite that keeps you wanting more and more. Hu tieu dai was unfortunately too mushy in texture for my liking. 4 stars overall. Customer service from the owners were exceptional. They were attentive to each person's order and were so welcoming. The food was good but maximize the deliciousness by strictly going for the thin egg noodles. You will not be disappointed and this recommendation is coming from a person who typically steers clear of this. I'd happily return.
