Second lunch? Why not! I was dimsumming it at Lei Garden across the street when I spotted Bento Corner's grand opening sign (side of Marina Food plaza). I asked the staff at Lei Garden if they've been there and if it's any good. They said, "yea" so I popped in and asked for a menu. Except there's no menu. And, no bento. Whaaaa? Bento Corner is a tiny, take-out operation selling Northern Chinese apps; just grab 'n go from their fridge. Currently, they have beef jerky, braised beef shank, tendons, tripe, pig ears, pork feet, duck head, etc. The braised pork feet and duck head are vacuum sealed, and need to be warmed up. You can also purchase their housemade chili oil crisps for $10/jar. CASH ONLY (credit card machine is not up and running yet). They're open everyday from 11:30 am - 8 pm. If you go later in the evening, I would call ahead in case they close early for the day. * Cold Beef Combo w/ sliced beef shank, tendons, and tripe ($10) The trio was cooked well (not seasoned) - soft, tender shank, crunchy, gelatinous tendons, and soft, chewy tripe. Didn't taste any five-spice in the shank. The accompanying soy was salty and sweet with a touch of oil. The chili oil crisps had a great mala numbing spice (my lips were burning). The roasted peanuts were fresh and crunchy. Service is friendly and helpful. The lone staff is there if you have any questions. If you're looking for a quick, low-carb meal, give Bento[less] Corner a try!

We found this little gem after getting a referral from our waiter at a frequent restaurant. It hides next to Marina Supermarket, facing Target side, which explains why we never noticed it even though we visit Marina pretty often. The to-go food selection is great. The owner/chef is very nice. We bought cold noodle, duck tongues, pig ears and a few other items. All are delicious. Great cold dishes and snack food for parties with tasteful cold noodles filling kids, perfect for families if you don't want to cook. For sure we will revisit here often. This place just needs to get more ppl know. It took me a while to find its English name at Yelp. I thought it would be called Mr Ma Food as written on the to-go container. Anyway, I highly recommend this place.

Seafood hotpot. Smorgasbord of everything delicious. Fridays/Saturdays menu. Large enough to feed 2 to 4 people!

The combination of meat, veggies and the exterior crispy pancake created such an outstanding tasting effect. The lamb dish had one of the most tender meats I've tasted. The brown sugar sticky rice cake was soft inside and hard outside; with just the right amount of sweetness. Service was ok. They should've been kinder and more grateful. I liked how they have a sign posted on window saying that gratuity is at free will and you don't pay for the wrong dish they send to you. It showed accountability. That's why we keep coming back, for now.

There was no line for us to be seated. I was able to flag down a server to seat us since they seem to be extremely busy cleaning tables and servicing others. The hotpots are full of ingredients and the broth has always been tasty. Unfortunately, the meats seem to be overcooked. Prices have been going up over the years where only the monthly special is enticing for the value. Servers were friendly and checked in on us, but it took 25 minutes for our food to show up at our table after we ordered. The only consistent experience I've had are the oranges at the end of the meal. They are always amazingly sweet, juicy, and comes off the peel easily. I don't usually enjoy oranges, but I love the ones HomeEat offers! Will be back if in the area, but hope kitchen service will be quicker in the future.

I love their chicken and rice and their beef and rice, but my absolute favorite is the beef brisket with rice. I always get it extra spicy and add the bamboo. It is so good every time. The broccoli with garlic is also amazing and has become a must-order for me. The food is consistently flavorful, comforting, and satisfying. I often get takeout, and the food stays hot even an hour later when I get home. The staff is nice, the place is clean, and the vibe is casual. I come here so often because the food is reliable and always hits the spot. Highly recommend.

We had a party of three and had our pick of tables - there were maybe 2-4 other parties in the restaurant around 7 pm. We had just gone on a longish bike ride - and were definitely excited for food. There is a QR code on the table that you have to scan to order- unfortunately the app to order requests a lot of information and also requires your phone number and verification. The staff were incredibly slow given how empty the restaurant was. One member in our party had trouble ordering on the app. We also had a very long wait when we asked for to go boxes for our leftovers and when we asked to pay the check. In fact, my friend ended up eating the rest of his food because it took so long to get a box for leftovers. I ordered the boneless yellow braised chicken rice mild- the chicken came with skin on and jalapeños and a side bowl of rice. The food was simple and tasty. Overall, I would only go back if I were in the area and had a lot of time to wait/ wasn't in a hurry. The food was tasty and hearty and came out relatively quickly. The service was slow and we saw multiple staff members waiting around when we were trying to pay our check so we could leave and bike home before it got too dark. We tried requesting wait staff through the app, since they didn't come over when we waved- but that was also not successful. And after waiting for 10+ minutes we were able to get the check to pay. The food was good and I wouldn't be opposed to getting food or eating here again. I just wouldn't come here if I were short on time or in a rush. We were able to pay for Our items separately, since we each placed our order online- so that was nice and kept things simple within our group.

Surprisingly, the normal Dan Dan noodles ("special sesame dry noodle") were quite bad. The beef and tendon noodle soup is not bad, decent for when I was sick. There is a "beef and tendon noodle soup" as well as a "beef only noodle soup" on the menu - you might think the beef only one would be better value and have more meat, I ordered both to see the difference - even though the meat only one does have more meat, the meat is more tough and very hard to chew. So the beef with tendons soup has way better texture and more tender meat pieces

After placing our order, the food came out relatively quick. We ordered 2 beef noodle soups, the works, and 2 beef rolls. Starting off with the beef rolls, these came out cold. I heard that this is what this place was known for. The meat in our rolls wasn't even lukewarm and the pancakes came out super soggy almost like they didn't even try. Please tell me how the pancake look brown and crispy on the outside and still comes out cold and not crispy at all. My nephew even said they weren't crispy and he's 3. The lady told us that the sauce on the inside was salty and that's why they don't give extra and man was she right. 1/5* The beef noodles soup itself flavor wise was good and portion wise it was good for $21, but my noodles had no chew to them at all. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The egg is a nice touch but not too sure if it's worth the price. Noodle consistency was the same as the beef noodle soup. 2.5/5*

It is a bit of a dumpy place right next to a gas station, across from an empty strip mall shop area! We weren't even sure the restaurant was open when we got here. We were asked to pick any table - mostly booths. There's a QR code to scan and place your order. After peruse quite an array of items we picked the ma po tofu and the beef with onions. Service was minimal- we weren't even sure presented with 2 cups and a carafe of water to start. Our order arrived and we got a complimentary seaweed miso soup. Soup was quite good with real seaweed - not the dehydrated stuff in some Japanese restaurants. Surprisingly the food was delicious! The ma po tofu was very authentic. There's schezwan peppers or Mala in it but it was not overpowering that it numbs your tastebuds! The tofu was soft and silky. The beef had good flavor and balanced the meal out. Beef was tender. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Will definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu If you're not familiar with traditional Chinese entrees the menu can be quite daunting and a turn off. They definitely utilize all animal parts!

I'm super surprised how good this restaurant is. In general I think Bay Area Chinese food sucks…read morecompared to SoCal and I often drive down to SoCal just because I miss more authentic Chinese food there. However I can honestly say this restaurant is just as good as the best Hunan/Sichuan food from the San Gabriel area. This used to be a different Sichuan dry pot restaurant that was so so and I really haven't gone back since the new one opened up. The name is also really misleading because many Taiwanese restaurant use Grandma as the name. As a foodie this restaurant is legit. It's in a small plaza shared with another Taiwanese restaurant so parking can be difficult but there are plenty of street parking right next to the restaurant. The interior is clean and well organized. The service is prompt and good enough. They ask for reviews but didn't promise some freebie for a semi fake 5 star review which is great. I never leave a good review just for a freebie because my integrity is way more expensive than freebies. The food is phenomenal and authentic in every way. The frogs are tender and the spices are not overwhelming and brings out the flavor of the frog meat just right. The cured pork (pig face meat) is very rare in the states. It's also cured properly to give the authentic hunan flavor. They also mix it with raddish slices which is also rare in most Chinese restaurants here in the states. Even the conch with bamboo shots surprised me in how thin the slices of the conches are. It's also flavored without being too spicy nor too salty. Everything is on point. I do wish they used better white rice but that alone is not enough for me to take off any stars. This is just a wonderful restaurant that's on par with my favorite hunan restaurant in San Gabriel and I'm so glad I found it because I'm sure going to go back every week now.
