This place had a lot of ratings on Yelp so I wanted to check it out but honestly it disappointed me a lot. The food came out really fast and my favorite was the Three Cup Chicken but all in all it was very mid. The noodles are extremely oily and the flavor wasn't enough. I asked for chili oil/sauce and they gave me something that didn't even have any spice to it. To be quite honest, I think there's better in Cupertino and I wouldn't comeback again.

What a hidden gem! This was one of my friends favorite comfort place and we decided to come here for her birthday. It's mainly bench seating so it's a great place to come with friends or a big group. We came on a Friday night and it was PACKED! The food did not disappoint. I will say the chili lamb, green beans and shrimp cake were the best. There's also a discount if you pay with cash.

Got there at 6:00 on a Sunday. We were seated immediately. A big selection on the menu. We got Whole Squid with Ginger Sauce. This was more like squid soup. The broth was delicious and the bite size whole squid was fairly tender. I've never had squid like this before. The "feather" was still in them. Wonder if there is a good way to get it out? Three Cup Tofu was amazing. Really great umami flavor. All of the basil really complemented the dish. Chicken Fried Noodles w/Kang Kung in Satay Sauce. This one was just okay. The ratio of Kang Kung to the rest of the dish was high, but I liked it. Kung Pao Salmon was very good. Great flavor and a perfect amount of heat from the chilis. Salt an Pepper Spare Ribs were good. They could have used a little more salt but sill tasty. Bitter Melon with salt eggs was excellent! Never had this dish before. The two ingredients really complemented each other. Food came out fast. Service was excellent!

Yummy Taiwanese food! I think this location is better than the one in Palo Alto but it's been a minute since I've been to the PA one. Got the pineapple bitter melon soup which was tasty and cleansing. I wish they didn't have small ginger chunks throughout the soup though. Three cup chicken, a staple of course. Black bean clams were good but there weren't a ton of clams and they were soooo small. A Choy with garlic was bomb. Would be back to try some other stuff!

Very homey dishes, reminds me of home cooked meals you can't get at mainstream restaurants or anywhere else. I would highly recommend coming and eating family style to try out a lot of their dishes! Favorites seem to be the house special with ground pork and egg, though - which I can guarantee its quality. They also have a great selection of beer - which was also refreshing. I will note the parking space is a bit limited, but there's street parking available. Everything we got was delicious! Would come again.

One of our favorite restaurants in South Bay! They don't have normal tables with chairs but rather with benches so the ambiance here is very casual. Service: 4/5 Only 1 lady waiting the entire restaurant so it was difficult to flag her down but didn't have to wait too long for her service. Food: 5/5 We usually get: Tofu with salted duck eggs - Perfectly seasoned and the tofu absorbed the flavor so well. Salt and pepper cuttlefish - I loveeee the perfect amount of saltiness and pepper-iness in this dish. Just wished there were a bit more cuttlefish than veggies. Chicken with eggplant - Much more chicken than eggplant. Flavor is very light in this dish but it still tasted SO delicious.

Really delicious authentic Taiwanese food! I went with a party of four and we were seated immediately. The server was very nice and helped us take photos. The food was soo good and comforting. Definitely recommend!

Unfamiliar with the area, this was a random pick for lunch. It featured Taiwanese food and so it sounded very appealing. Unlike a typical restaurant with tables and chairs, this was picnic table like seating--a good way to maximize patrons. Every table was occupied. The service was fast, ordering was easy and the food was served quickly. We ordered bitter melon with salted egg, three cup mushrooms and bamboo shoots and chicken fried noodles. And the flavors were amazing...the bitter melon was especially tasty and I enjoyed it very much. If you are craving Taiwanese food, you need to check this place out. I will definitely be returning.

One thing that is surprisingly difficult to find on the east coast (even New York) is authentic good Taiwanese food that serves classic dishes cooked homestyle. I have yet to really find any in New York. During my trip to the Bay Area, my friend who is also Taiwanese showed me this place. She said it's one of her favorite Taiwanese place. Honestly it's the best Taiwanese food place I've had in America. I'm amazed not only by how delicious the dishes were but also the menu selection featuring many classic Taiwanese dish that is difficult to find anywhere else. For example, the stir fried clams with sponge gourds 絲瓜蛤蜊 - always has a special place in my heart. The lady was so nice and the food came out pretty quickly. We were starving so we got plenty of dishes to share. - stir fried clams with gourds - braised tofu with ground pork - classic braised pork rice - salt and pepper crispy cuttlefish Again, everything was SO GOOD. For a moment I thought I had transported back to Taiwan. The portion sizes are also quite generous. We had left over food we took home for another meal. If I'm ever back in the Bay Area anytime soon, this will be a place I will not want to miss!

I've come here for years and I was disappointed with my usual favorites for the first time. Hopefully just a single bad day and not representative of their usual quality nowadays... Lu rou fan (house special ground pork over rice bowl) - they've replaced a normal egg with 4 quail eggs instead, not a huge surprise given the recent egg prices. However, the pork was not like their usual... today's was a bit dry overall. Some pieces were fatty and tender (like their usual) with the majority being lean and dry. Can't tell if they mixed two types of pork for some cost savings. Flavor was good as usual. Crispy shrimp with mayo and pineapple - I was most disappointed by this dish. The texture of the shrimp was quite hard and didn't make the chewing experience very nice. It's not my first time ordering takeout for this dish, so I don't think it's because of that. I think there's a bit of shrinkflation too as there was less in the serving size than usual. I understand that the economy has been tough in general, so the egg swap and quantity may have been affected. However, the quality seems to have decreased as well this time. I hope it's not the case because I love coming here for their comforting food!

We arrived at the restaurant at 8pm - they seated us but told us we had to order fast as they closed at 830. The restaurant has picnic style benches and tables - super casual and chill. Food comes out fast. Nothing blew our minds but nothing was bad. The 3 cup chicken was overated- bone shards everywhere, sweet, and not a lot of flavor. Best dish we had was the achoy - perfectly sautéed and seasoned. Taking 1 start off cause they pretty much kicked us out at 830 - turned off all the lights except the ones near us. If you post closing at 830 and seat someone at least let them finish!

This is very much a hole in the wall place with amazing and fresh food! They close at 2 PM (for lunch) but basically accept customers all the way until that time. I got the Chicken and Bones and it was very flavorful with ginger pieces and the sauce went amazing with rice. the eggplant with garlic sauce was actually my favorite! As the eggplant was well coated with the garlic sauce and was not too mushy. Also got some popcorn/crispy chicken and it's exactly what you expect with the classic white pepper seasoning and the sweet chili sauce Can't wait to come back and try some more dishes!

Red Hot Wok is a no-frills, consistently busy spot with generally easy seating. We ordered several containers of hot & sour soup, which is a personal favorite. While not the most authentic version, it was hearty and enjoyable with a few ingredient tweaks. The beef fried rice with satay sauce was overly oily and had an overpowering "wok" taste. The beef fried noodles with kang kung lacked seasoning and fell flat in flavor. There's potential here, especially for casual bites--but a few key improvements could really elevate the experience.

The staff were incredibly slow given how empty the restaurant was. One member in our party had trouble ordering on the app. We also had a very long wait when we asked for to go boxes for our leftovers and when we asked to pay the check. In fact, my friend ended up eating the rest of his food because it took so long to get a box for leftovers. I ordered the boneless yellow braised chicken rice mild- the chicken came with skin on and jalapeños and a side bowl of rice. The food was simple and tasty. Overall, I would only go back if I were in the area and had a lot of time to wait/ wasn't in a hurry. The food was tasty and hearty and came out relatively quickly. The service was slow and we saw multiple staff members waiting around when we were trying to pay our check so we could leave and bike home before it got too dark. We tried requesting wait staff through the app, since they didn't come over when we waved- but that was also not successful. And after waiting for 10+ minutes we were able to get the check to pay. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The name is also really misleading because many Taiwanese restaurant use Grandma as the name. As a foodie this restaurant is legit. It's in a small plaza shared with another Taiwanese restaurant so parking can be difficult but there are plenty of street parking right next to the restaurant. The interior is clean and well organized. The service is prompt and good enough. They ask for reviews but didn't promise some freebie for a semi fake 5 star review which is great. I never leave a good review just for a freebie because my integrity is way more expensive than freebies. The food is phenomenal and authentic in every way. The frogs are tender and the spices are not overwhelming and brings out the flavor of the frog meat just right. The cured pork (pig face meat) is very rare in the states. It's also cured properly to give the authentic hunan flavor. They also mix it with raddish slices which is also rare in most Chinese restaurants here in the states. Even the conch with bamboo shots surprised me in how thin the slices of the conches are. It's also flavored without being too spicy nor too salty. Everything is on point. I do wish they used better white rice but that alone is not enough for me to take off any stars. This is just a wonderful restaurant that's on par with my favorite hunan restaurant in San Gabriel and I'm so glad I found it because I'm sure going to go back every week now.
