Pretty mid. Small portions and actually kinda bland. Came in for a quick lunch on a weekday. Food came relatively quick. I came in for the clay pot pork ribs and ended up trying the fried chicken wings and chicken feet too. Nothing was bad but all pretty bland. Anything needed better seasoning and spice imo. The clay pot was dry as well as being pretty small. While nothing was bad there are better options in this price range. read more

Came on a weekend for lunch and ordered the chicken with cordyceps clay pot rice and also the pig ears appetizer. Pig ears came quickly. Large portion (especially for $7 when many other restaurants charge $10+ for this dish) and flavored well. A little bit spicy but mostly savory. My one nit was they were actually a bit too salty, so we waited until our rice arrived to eat them. The chicken with cordyceps clay pot rice was delicious. The chicken was well-seasoned and very tender and juicy. The cordyceps paired really well. They have their "secret claypot sauce" on the table so you can season to your preference. Food came quickly despite it being a clay pot spot. You order off a QR code, so there wasn't much service. Interior is bright and clean with lots of tables. read more

Came here with friends looking for comfort food. We ordered 4 clay pots and a veggie dish cuz we were skeptical it would be enough since the pots looked so tiny but we actually had leftovers! The place was a bit noisy but it was nice and bright. When we walked in it was empty but soon filled up before we left. My friend had it doordashed to them and they were surprised the food came in a clay pot (I think it costs $3 more when you get it to go or delivered but I could be wrong). The rice in the clay pot was nice and crispy and the soy sauce was perfect. For some reason I can't find the pics (will post if I find them later) but it was all good! I was especially impressed with the way they did their chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Would come by again if we were in the area! read more

Claypot rice is definitely one of my comfort meals, so I was very excited to see that they opened a restaurant in the bay specifically serving claypot rice! I tried the lapmei fan and eggplant salty fish claypot rice and both were tasty. I liked how the eggplant wasn't overcooked. Only downside is that the portion size is a bit small, and it was pretty oily. read more

I've come here a couple times now, and I believe it's worth it. There's often a wait around popular times, and it can take awhile since they have to cook the clay pots to order. I usually get the salty fish and eggplant pot here since I can't find salty fish rice dishes too often. They provide soy sauce at the tables so you can season dishes to your preference. For appetizers, my favorite is the pig ears which are not too spicy (I am weak, so you can trust me). The dumplings are okay but nothing to write home about. Service is as you'd expect. They are very good at keeping your water cup filled though! read more

I came here for lunch and got their Salted Fish, Chicken and Eggplant Claypot Rice. It was pretty busy. You order via a QR code. The food here takes some time to make, not too long, but there is a wait since they make the claypot rice dish fresh. Anywho, I was surprised to see that by ordering the claypot rice a complementary bowl of soup came too. The soup was nice - some seaweed, egg ribbons and pork. The claypot rice itself without their seasoning sauce is a bit bland but that's why you season it to your liking. The eggplant was cooked well, with pieces of salted fish and chicken. The rice was fine, I liked the crispiness of the bottom. There wasn't anything too special about this claypot rice, I just think it's okay coming from someone who is cantonese. However, happy to see that there is a claypot place in San Jose. read more

I came here because I was hungry and saw the words the drew me in. "Clay pot" I entered and was immediately seated despite it being crowded. Ordering was made easy with the QR code being there for the electronic menu. I tried a unique sugarcane juice that had a lot of medicinal herbs which gave it a unique taste. I was really surprised that soup was part of the meal. Many places would skip soup to save money. The clay pot rice was the main event. It did come in a clay pot and was still sizzling as it came to my table. The chicken was so tender and the mushrooms were very juicy. The rice towards the end had become crispy. The portions were huge. The only unfortunate thing was the lack of a sauce. I'm very used to clay pot rice restaurants having a sauce that could seep towards the bottom with the crispy rice. I had to use soy sauce. The service was wonderful, and I'd definitely come back because there were other items I was eyeing. I didn't even have appetizers! read more

BZZ Clay Pot is one of the few places in San Jose that offers clay pot dishes. The shop itself is located in a busy asian plaza. Parking is widely available but you may need to park a little further. All dishes come out burning hot! They provide container bowls to prevent people from burning themselves. Staff will refill water and clean up quickly. Ordering is all done via QR code on mobile phones. Claypot rice with beef and egg has juicy beef pieces with a egg on top. Claypot rice with mushroom and chicken has large pieces of tender chicken with shiitake mushroom. Both come with vegetable greens. The rice does stick to the bowl if you leave it in too long since its hot! I also ordered from Fantuan for takeout and it comes in a clay pot! If you return 8 clay pots, they'll give you a meal free. Will definitely be back. BZZ Clay Pot definitely hits the spot if you have a craving for a hot rice dish. read more

Came back again for another amazing meal! Clay pot is always freshly made. It does take 20 min to cook, so be ready. Highly recommend getting their lemon tea while waiting lol it's pretty good. I was able to adjust sweetness by talking to a staff. But another staff told me they cannot do so in my other visit. Staff are very nice and helpful. Again, you can ask them to make adjustment. Traditional Guangdong clay pot place -- delicious fast food choice. Convenient location inside Cupertino village. Clean and neat table and bench seatings. Like those posters around the walls, really tempting photos. The food served right after ordering. The food is very kids friendly, good texture rice, well seasoned toppings and house made special sauce. Kids like it so much and they feed themselves:). Extra points to the waitress on filling water fast and waited and returned the credit card that I lost in her restaurant. Recommended for clay pot and soup lovers. read more

If you are here for the salty fish, skip it cos it's not the type that you get in Hong Kong, it's completely different. I usually get the dim sum here, siu mai and chicken feet are overcooked and mushy but the taste is ok. The pan fried chive dumpling is also ok. read more

Really solid place for lunch. We ordered fried shrimp, sautéed lettuce, and 3 clay pot rice -- chicken & mushrooms, Chinese sausage snd bacon, and pork spare ribs . The chicken and mushroom was especially delicious where the chicken was tender and flavorful. The Chinese bacon was sliced nice and thin. The pork spare ribs was also very tender . Came here for lunch on a weekday and it was pretty quiet here! Staff are very friendly and won't rush you to order. Ordering can be done with staff or using QR code service on the table. Lots of booth seating available! They provided a complimentary egg drop and seaweed soup which felt light and cozy before digging into the clay pot dishes. FOOD: - Chicken clay pot: Loved how tender the chicken was, but wish there was more meat considering the rice ratio. If you don't mind the rice, there is soy sauce on the side. Just an FYI the rice on the bottom hardens a bit, but not to the point where it get crunchy. Probably just a different take on this dish, though, since different regions in China have their own preferences. :) PARKING: The plaza gets busy during lunch hour, so I'd dine-in right before then. read more

BZZ Clay Pot Excellent delicately prepared clay pot rice bowls with perfectly prepared rice and meats/veggies. Each item is cooked on demand so you need to be patient and wait about 15-18 minutes for your claypot to cook after you submit your order (in person or via QR code/smartphone.) What's Here: Step inside and you'll find a brightly lit modern Mainland China vibe with LED logos and big food signage on the walls. It's as if this entire restaurant was imported direct from Guangzhou! Courteous unobtrusive service. My choice: Chicken & Mushroom Clay Pot - with this dish, I opted for a few chunks of salted fish ($3 extra) to really bring the flavors through.. The chicken was so very moist and tender and the rice was perfectly cooked from top to the best part - the crunchy crusty toasty rice at the bottom of the pot. To be absolutely perfect, i'd love for the rice to be even 5-8% more brown, but it was a nice light brown crust already. The veggies were fresh, on point and not overcooked. The soy sauce marinade that you add on yourself is neutral enough not to overly salt your rice. Verdict ? 4.9/5 - arguably head and shoulders better than a famous clay pot place we tried in HK a few weeks back. I didn't expect that.. Pro tip: If you don't see the exact combo of meats/veggies on the menu for your claypot, just select one style, and a submenu will come up which will allow you to add on other meats/veggies/toppings as you wish.. or just ask the waitstaff for something more specific. Battery dead on your phone? No problem! They have paper menus with pictures too.. Verdict: Good stuff here! I'll definitely be back! read more

Came in on Saturday night and there was a bit of a wait. It's located in the very busy Cupertino Village, so makes sense that Saturday night would be a popular time to visit. The restaurant was bright, clean, and modern. We ordered the classic signature lap mei rice clay pot, the salted fish and eggplant rice clay pot, and a side of Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce. The clay pots were both delicious, comforting, and nostalgic. Once you add the soy sauce and some chili oil on top, it's truly chef's kiss. I actually ended up liking the eggplant pot more since I think the eggplant was probably fried, so the rice really soaked up the oil in the pot and made things super flavorful and glossy. The Chinese broccoli was standard and a way to get our veggies in for the meal. Overall satisfied with the meal and would definitely recommend! read more

Second visit and even my American stomach kid approved. The wait in weekend is getting long, so try to avoid the rush hours. They have a paper and pen sign up system but their tables are mostly for 2-4 seaters, which makes accommodating large parties difficult. I see a lot of people doing take out and it may be worth trying that next time. The only benefit of eating in the store is they have these drink and clay pot sets, but this time when we came they were all sold out. Sad. We tried the signature sausage and cured meat clay pot rice. As always, the soul of a clay pot rice is the added soy sauce. I think their soy sauce is ok, not wow, but does the job. The sausages are flavorful and they are generous in portions. The special spare ribs are premarinated and flavorful. Each clay pot comes with 3 pieces of veggie, if it's not enough, you can add a side for 3 bucks which is good value. The restaurant is doing a promotion that if you prepay a minimum of $300, they give you an extra $50 on the account. You can use it in 3 restaurants and anything can be applied to it including tax and tips. You just need to place the order directly with the restaurants including Ming's and Local Cafe, DoorDash/Uber Eat etc apps are excluded. Service is fine, you can freely ask them questions and they are quite attentive to customers. read more

My friend and I shared two claypots and the salted egg yolk fried chicken wings. We arrived on a Sunday during lunch time and the place was packed. We got the salted fish & eggplant claypot and the chicken and mushroom claypot. I preferred the salted fish & eggplant more since it was more flavorful and not overpowering in fishy taste. The chicken and mushroom was good as well. There was definitely more rice in the claypot than the toppings, but it did make the dishes filling. Portion size was fair. The salted egg yolk chicken wings are a must! They were crunchy with the perfect balance of salted egg yolk flavor. read more

Clay pot rice dishes are a childhood favorite of mine, and I'm so glad to have discovered this place! Their dishes are pretty spot on, and the special umami dark soy sauce is readily available at each table to drizzle over your dish. We ordered the special spare rib and also the salted fish and eggplant (comes with chicken), as well as an order of choy sum veggies. Everything came out as we expected, piping hot, and it was so satisfying to hear that sizzle as I poured the special soy sauce over my clay pot dish! Flavors were solid, and enhanced by the yummy soy sauce. The choy sum veggies were also tender crisp, perfectly done! Service was ok, the servers weren't rude, but they weren't warm and fuzzy either. But par for the course. The restaurant is small but bright and tightly packed, and obviously very popular, especially around the lunch hours. I'd recommend giving this place a try! read more

This review is quite overdue, from March around the time they had their grand opening. This is located in the 99 ranch plaza, there is a lot of parking but finding it can still be pretty difficult at meal times and after work. We opted to walk over from home, allowed us to make some room for dinner! There was a huge wait for a table. We had our hearts on trying BZZ so waited maybe 45 minutes? They speak Cantonese here! Already a good sign for authenticity! You order by QR code, the service was pretty nice. Our food didn't take too long to come out. My rice was perfectly crispy, there's soy sauce at the table. There is limited seating inside. I got the cordyceps flower and chicken claypot and my partner had the lap mei claypot. Both were a little bland, but the soy sauce really helped enhance the flavor. I would come back, I also only ate half and had to take the other half as leftovers. My partner finished his food. You Dim Sum, You Lose Sum Chinese chain with, what I believe, is their only US location right here in city that Apple built, Cupertino, CA. They specialize in Cantonese cuisine, with the primary focus on claypot cooked rice dishes. They also feature a myriad of soups and stew, as well as some small dim sum (e.g., buns, dumplings, etc.) plates. The Good: *Friendly service *Something about the décor and branding was very on-point for this product. *QR code ordering thru a website (scan the code at the table). You don't pay thru the website, tho. They will bring you out a check and machine tableside. *The crispy rice at the bottom of the claypot is everything. It really adds a nice texture and flavor to the dish. *Chicken feet were on point and had a nice flavored sauce on them and were perfectly tender. *Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Wings in Clay Pot was maybe the most interesting thing I've eaten all year. The wings were cooked perfectly and seasoned well, but the exterior was coated in some kind of powdered egg concoction that was, well, let's just say a new experience for both of us. Glad we tried it once but not sure we're in a rush to try it again. *Very affordable by today's standards The Meh: *Located in the Cupertino Village shopping center, the parking here can be a bit tough to find during busier hours. *The chicken in the Cordyceps Flower Chicken Rice Clay Pot was overly-tenderized and had an odd texture. The rest of the disc was terrific, tho. *Siu Mai dumplings were just OK. The flavor was overly shrimpy, and the shrimp itself wasn't cut up as finely as we're used to. The Ugly: *No alcohol *As per usual, we're always the only non-Asians in this restaurant on a Sunday lunch time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Conclusion: Authentic, delicious and frugally-priced Cantonese cuisine in a casual environment. read more

BZZ Claypot 煲仔正 recently opened up in Cupertino Village and serves authentic Guangdong-flavored, single-serving claypot rice. While their menu has a variety of claypot rice flavors, the classic and most popular one comes with a bowl of crispy rice that is topped with Chinese sausage, cured pork belly, and bok Choy. Regardless of what claypot rice you choose, make sure to add a bit of soy sauce for an extra kick of savoriness and mix everything together before taking a bite. Overall, this place is great for comfort food and really hits the spot. Prices are a tad on the higher side especially for the side dishes, but tolerable. Very satiating meal for relatively good prices! Came here at around 1pm on a Saturday - we put our names down on the list and waited around 10 minutes for a table. The wait looked pretty atrocious at first, but people are in and out of the store pretty quickly. There's a QR code to scan to order. We got the signature lap mei rice clay pot, the cordyceps flower chicken rice clay pot, the hometown fragrant handmade lemon tea, and the traditional double skin milk pudding. The food honestly took longer than I expected to come out (15+ minutes) especially considering the simplicity of the dishes, but I do understand it was very packed and hectic at the time. The clay pots are a pretty decent size. At first, it'll look like the amount of rice is too much for the toppings, but it evens out pretty well as you're eating. The sausage in the lap mei and the chicken in the chicken clay pot were both super tender and fresh. Even without the signature sauce poured in, both dishes were fragrant and flavorful. The rice gets the perfect amount of crispy at the bottom, which I feel like is hard to perfect. The lemon tea is pretty average, but get the double skin milk pudding if you come! So silky and a really good way to cool off. Is clay pot a dish you could make at home? Probably. The ingredients are simple, but the ease of coming to a restaurant like BZZ is super convenient. If I was craving something super simple and filling, I'd come here - worth a try. read more

Claypot rice 煲仔飯 is a popular Canton street food. Similar dishes -- cooking rice with some ingredients to enhance the flavors -- exist elsewhere China, even the world, some have evolved to gourmet level. This Cantonese one had held on to the grass-root level. Soak the rice of selected variety, cook it in a chosen sized claypot, dump out excessive water halfway, add the ingredients the customer order, continue cooking closed-lid, add aromatic and veggie near the end, served when done. That's pretty much it. But every steps has been refined. The attraction is the interaction between the rice and the ingredients. The best part is the slightly burnt rice stuck at the claypot wall. Yummy! This place made very good version. At the end of the day, this is comfort food and not fine dining. It is difficult to elevate comfort foods to 4-star, although I was quite happy and satisfied. I imagine I will come back, just like I regularly craze for pizza, fried chicken, burrito, and fish-n-chips. read more

Recently ordered food delivery from here only because the reviews said that they literally deliver the food to you in the clay pots for you to keep. The price per clay pot is $22 on DoorDash, which I think is fair since you get the clay pot delivered to your house. My family got the beef and egg, mushroom and chicken, and signature lap mei clay pots. Each clay pot comes with roughly 2 cups of rice. The chicken was a smooth silky texture which paired well with the mushrooms. I think it's a great option for food delivery because the food stays warm in the clay pots. We also ordered the choy sum but it was a bit overcooked for my taste. Overall solid option for Chinese clay pot rice in the area, particularly if you're getting it through a food delivery service. read more

I am so glad there's another claypot place open in the South Bay. Although I'm only giving it 3 stars, I can definitely see myself coming back here. Rice was cooked well and had a little bit of crispy from the claypot, but the beef rice was more on the soft side (probably because of the moisture from the beef and egg). With that being said, I loved how runny the egg was. I wish there were more fragrant flavors from the toppings as well. You order your food on your phone, which is convenient. Unfortunately, our order kept getting mixed up, but they were full packed during this time. Still, I thought the online ordering system would prevent mixups. Restaurant is really clean and bright. The meat is very tender. Rice would require self-seasoning (there's soy sauce and salt on the table). I added salted egg, so no additional salt was needed. There's spicy oil, but their spicy is not spicy at all. Warning: long wait. We waited about 40 min before we got seated and another 15min ish for the claypot to be ready. There's also no physical menu. They have the fake food display, but there's no name associated with each dish so it's like a matching game. I've overheard so many people complaining about the lack of menu and not so friendly service. One guy even canceled the wait because he wasn't able to see the menu first. There might've been miscommunication there though, because when we went in and asked for menu, they told us there were none but we could scan QR code. There's definitely room for improvement. The easiest way would be to add a big menu at the front if they don't want to print out physical ones. Also, they should add warning about how long the wait could be + add English subtitles to their posters. read more

We were excited to try this place, but the food was so underwhelming. The pork ribs were tender and had a nice flavor. The signature lap mei was fine, but was on the dry and hard side. Both claypots tasted mild even after adding the soy sauce provided at the tables. The rice was also really dry. Not worth it for $17-18 each. The salted egg yolk wings actually stood out for us - crispy and flavorful! Claypots are made to order and take about 15 minutes to come out. Definitely come before 5:30 pm to get seated with the first wave, or you'll have to wait. The restaurant is small and they seem to have issues with parties larger than 2. The service was good, all the workers speak mandarin, and some could speak English. However you do not have too many interactions, everything is ordered on the QR code on the table. Been awhile since I've rated 5 stars. I was on the 4.5 fence but then asked myself, would I be sad if this place went away... yea. So up, up, up we go. (Yes my kids have been singing too much Golden). We had 3 clay pot rice: eel, black pepper chicken and the classic lap mei. We also got two soups and the milk pudding dessert. The soups were solid. Kids really drank most of it but I got a bit and they were pretty on point. The stars of the show were of course the clay pot rice. My favorite was actually the chicken (surprisingly to myself). The black pepper was not overly done and the meat was really tender. The eel might've been my favorite. Unfortunately my kids ate it all. So it was their favorite obviously. The lap mei was solid. Classic choice. But a bit boring in a way. Was also pretty salty compared to the others. I mean they're suppose to be salty so not docking points but more like the others were even better. Of course the main attraction is the rice itself. They had a really nice "crust", the crispy bits you get by scrapping the sides of the pot. It was also nice the had the soy sauce dispenser at the table so you can season to your own liking. I was joking with the wifey this place must be pretty new since the clay pots weren't all charred and burned on the outside (which is pretty typical at these restaurants). Really happy there's this awesome clay pot place nearby now. Looking forward to being back and trying some other flavors (maybe the kids will let me have some eel next time). read more

Came at lunchtime on a Saturday with my partner. It was ultra mega packed so be prepared for 40 minutes wait minimum. The store also isn't that big, which exacerbates the issue. Their service is slow. There are no menus and they are quite snappy if asked about the menu. Their takeout menu is in the front. Store is not very big and looks similar to other restaurants liKe Wei's fish. The ambiance of the store cannot fit many people and is quite small. But their claypots seem to all be made fresh. The rice is nice and crunchy. But more importantly, their meat was very tender and I thought it was amazing. You season the pot yourself. They give you the sauces. All in all solid but long wait, service being slow, prevent this place from getting a higher rating from me. Would still recommend if you can wait! read more
