I've been here several times, and the skewers are consistently tasty. The seasoning is good, although almost all of the skewers have a very similar flavor profile. One downside is the seating. If you're a party of two, you might end up at a table in the middle of the walkway, which isn't comfortable. Also think the cleanliness could be improved a bit. read more

The heating device on table did not keep food warm/hot. The pig feet had 3 long strands of black hair intertwined into the chili marinate. Two of the three of us had diarrhea by the end of the night. Located conveniently at the boundary of Cupertino and Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, this place is very poplar especially on weekend evenings. I like the taste of the decoration and its vibe. Solid Chinese skewers. I really really liked the beef. All meats were juicy. I liked the lamb, but I felt like the seasoning was a just a TAD bit on the lighter side for my taste on the lamb. Chicken skin was fire. I did make a mistake and order the king of kings sausage (I think that's what it was called?) and it was a regular glizzy (even tasted kind of like a vegan sausage, worse than Costco glizzies), don't order that!!! Probably my favorite Chinese skewer restaurant yet. We as a party of 5 came on a Sunday around 12:20pm and got seated around 1:00PM as we missed the first wave of people who got seated right when they opened at 12PM. The restaurant had a lot of open tables after the first wave of people around 2-2:30PM. Everything was perfectly seasoned, wasn't really spicy at all and they came out with the A-Choy first to lay on their hot plate that they lit candles underneath of so the food stays warm. The lamb/beef skewers, A-Choy and tripe were definitely my favorites. We also ordered the garlic eggplant that was served on a dish with a ton of slightly pickled garlic. The eggplant had an entire layer of this garlic but the eggplant was grilled on the bottom, but a little mushy -- still good. We also ordered the tripe skewers that came first along with the A-choy that was in a separate bowl filled with broth and a thick layer of chili oil. The flavor of the tripe skewers were also spot-on and not as oily as it looked. They also have some white buns that were crisp and sweet so would definitely get that towards the end as a dessert. Pretty good and mostly comparable to the San Mateo location for the most part. I think the San Mateo location is still the best for this kind of food but this location is close enough. It seems less busy than SM as well which is a plus, as the San Mateo location can get really busy to the point where you're waiting outside for ~30 minutes to get a table. I think the menu is mostly all the same and everything was good except for the chicken heart which was way overcooked to the point of almost being impossible to chew. Also, I think my friend got some sort of food poisoning from the pig brain dish as he felt very bad afterward. So avoid those dishes and you should be good to go for the most part. read more

Very nice Chinese bbq with its distinct sichuan/Shaokao flavor. The portion to price is decent . Some places give you 10 skewers, but really thin and heavily seasoned. This place gives two large skewers per order with enough meat to pair with your noodles or rice. It was enough for my partner and I and we got to try more variety in this way. The spice was also perfect for me- not too salty or spicy. The whole atmosphere and decor also added to the dining experience and everything paired well with the green apple sake on the side. Went here with a bunch of friends and had an amazing time. This place is not too big so it doesn't really get loud. As you walk in you'll see someone playing a Chinese harp which was a cool experience. Our orders came out pretty fast as you'll order from the your phone. I recommended the lamb and beef skewers, so tender and juicy. The veggies are great too and they give you a lot. I didn't drink but everyone else did and the shots were light so don't expect to get tipsy. Overall everything was good and they give you a lot of rice too so I'd share with someone. Only thing I would stay away from is the stinky tofu. Not many can handle it and I'm one of them. read more

If you want some authentic chinese skewers, this is the spot We came on a thursday after work and it was already packed - had a line. There is plenty of parking so no worries. You order on the phone and they bring the food out as it comes. The lamb beef and the tripe in chili oil were my favorite. The skewers are already cooked when the staff brings them to your table, and they lay them on the heated plate to keep the food warm. My favorite items would have to be the beef, pork, and enoki mushroom skewers. I also really enjoyed the veggie and quail egg skewers. Cucumber salad came as a huge portion with lots of peanuts which was easily shareable and very delicious. We also got the eggplant which in hindsight we could've gotten one order to share because it was also a huge portion. It seems like people start filling the place quite steadily once it's open so if you really want to beat a crowd, come early! The decor and layout of the restaurant is gorgeous! There are some tables that are sectioned off in these curtained areas which would be great for larger parties for a bit more privacy. You order the food on your own device after scanning the QR code provided which is convenient. My party and I got various skewers including the: beef, lamb, chicken and pineapple, taiwanese sausage, king sausage, beef tendon, chives, stinky tofu, and rice cakes. We also got a side order of the Korean cold noodles which are just a MUST whenever you get skewers because the tangy, refreshing broth really helps cleanse the palette and balance the oils of the meat skewers! Overall our favorite skewers of the night were definitely the beef, lamb, chives, tendon, and taiwanese sausage. All had great flavor and cooked very well before being brought to us. Nothing felt overcooked or dry, just perfectly done and still juicy and flavorful. Some skewers we would pass on are the king sausage and chicken pineapple. These just didn't have much flavor and were nice to try but did not stand out in comparison to the other options. Service here is great, very nice and attentive! I would love to come back one day and try the other menu items because there is a good variety on the menu. I think the only downside for me is the fact that the grill plate they serve the skewers on just isn't hot enough to give the skewers a nice char or keep them as hot as I'd like them to be. I understand that the skewers are already cooked so there is not need to further cook them, but it's just a preference thing personally. Went here on a Saturday afternoon after first noticing the Newark location and having it on my bookmarks. Was not too crowded just after noon (10-15 minutes after opening) I must say I was a fan of most of the food! We tried quite a variety of skewers. One thing I must say is that the seasoning on most of it was the same, might be normal for Chinese BBQ (it was my first time), so it might be interesting if they mix up the seasoning a bit. They were all definitely very well cooked, and tender + fresh. Really liked that the options are not limited to Beef/Pork (not being a big red meat eater). Some of what we tried, 1. Lamb Chop Shashlik - Was a special at the time and slightly more expensive. Meat was juicy but fatty. 2. Hawaiian Chicken Pineapple - mildly flavored, expected, slightly bland 3. Chicken Wings - lightly flavored again, I was a fan of this. 4. Beef - This was the best according to my friend, I did not eat this. 5. Sliced Potato - Cumin Paprika based seasoning which is the most common seasoning here, this was really good. 6. Corn - Buttered grilled corn 7. Buns - Buttered buns, slightly sweet 8. Enoki Mushroom - Again the cumin based seasoning, this is a MUST get. 9. Quail Egg - same seasoning as above, extremely light, small quail eggs. 10. Stinky Tofu - I was not a big fan of this. Yes, it "stinks" in terms of smell. 11. Pork Intestine - I didn't have this but my friend highly recommended this. Under $50 for two of us. I think prices were reasonable overall. We did not feel too heavy after the meal. The skewers came out pretty fast after doing a self order on the able. You can become a member and get 5% cash-back to use next time. Nice ambience and lighting, similar to what I've seen in other Chinese restaurants in the past. The tables were a little tight and it would help if they were a tad higher. The only disappointment is the beef with tripe which was the most expensive @$4. Some tendon are super hard and inedible. It only costs 3 of us $64 total with leftover (noodle, few skewers). I'm so excited that one of my favorite skewer places opened another location in the Sunnyvale area. I checked it out with my friends last night, and both the service and flavors are consistent with their main store in San Mateo. We ordered a variety of skewers (lamb, beef, Hawaiian chicken, sausage, chicken skin, veggies) and some appetizer dishes (the mixed vegetables dish was my favorite and was very refreshing alongside the skewers). We also ordered a bowl of cold noodles, and it was tasty! The restaurant got much busier during prime dinner time around 6:30, and they don't take reservations in advance.
