Finally found authentic Henan-style lamb noodle soup in the Bay Area! The owner kindly added extra noodles to make sure I had enough to eat, gave me a fruit, and even insisted on refusing a tip. Great food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend! 难得在湾区吃到正宗的河南羊肉烩面！老板怕我吃不饱，主动给我加面，结账时还送了一个水果，并坚持不收小费。食物地道，老板热情又实在，真心推荐！
i wanna preface this review with the fact that we walked here after the USA vs. BIH World Cup match to grab dinner, which took place at Levi's Stadium nearby, so it was incredibly busy. however, i felt like the waitress forgot about our table multiple times. at one point, we straight up didn't get our food for an entire hour while she continued serving customers next to us. by the time i called to ask where our food was, we had watched those customers finish their meals and leave. we later wanted to get some spoons and asked her for them, but she forgot again, so we didn't bother pushing it and just finished our meal. the eggplant noodles were one of the popular dishes on the menu, but i wasn't particularly impressed. there is a nice selection of items on the menu, but i don't see myself returning, especially not after a football game at Levi's.
Went for an early dinner at 4pm on a weekend. There were only a few people dining inside, and no one came out to greet us for a while. Eventually the owner came out of the kitchen and was very friendly. The inside is quite spacious and a little hot, so we sat near the door where there was a bit more airflow. We ordered the Sichuan dandan noodles which were great, and the Chongqing street noodles which were good but the noodles weren't as chewy for some reason. The homemade beef cake was served cold and was delicious. Service was friendly and fast once we were seated, though the owner forgot about the appetizer we'd ordered. It was okay since we were full anyway, and he made sure not to charge us for it.
LOVED THIS PLACE!!! I stumbled on it just browsing for places to eat and decided to come with my friend on a Thursday around 5:30pm. Not too crowded, but service did pickup closer to 7pm. We spoke Chinese with the owner and he was very sweet, excited to hear how we found the place. He told us we picked great dishes for our meal & encouraged us to try some other ones. The knife cut noodles are amazing! If you've never had it before, they have a denser, chewier sort of texture. The sauces for each noodle were quite flavorful! Tomato egg sauce was a bit lighter in flavor but still enjoyable. Tldr; I'm definitely coming back!
I was craving hand pulled/knife cut/chewy noodles and found Xiang Xiang Noodle after Googling a spot near me. I found Xiang Xiang Noodles and am so happy we went! My husband and I ordered the smashed cucumber appetizer, the shredded pork noodles with knife cut noodles, and the Szechuan dan dan noodles. We originally were going to get the seafood fried noodles, but the owner(?) uncle suggested the shredded pork noodles. I thought the exchange was really funny and cute since he spoke in limited English but conveyed to us that this was the "best". The food came out quickly- the shredded pork noodles were suggested to be eaten with the black vinegar on the table (this was in a bottle without any English labeling, but pretty obvious) and it definitely added a layer of flavor complexity to the dish. However, my husband and I both agreed that the Szechuan dan dan noodles was the better of the two. It had the mala flavor without being overly spicy, so we enjoyed it a lot. The cucumber appetizer was a cool, crisp, and refreshing contrast to our noodles. Seating is similar to that of a pho restaurant and it's very no frills- this is also located in a plaza with ample parking and no other East Asian food establishments (from what I saw). There wasn't any a/c in the restaurant but this was okay with us since it wasn't a super hot day, but I can see it getting pretty hot indoors. Overall, super tasty, got my fix of knife cut noodles and flavor, and I'm excited to try other dishes there!
We came on a Sunday afternoon and got seated right away. This place is run by a sweet lady and who I can only presume is the chef in the back. We tried the beef rolls, celery and tofu skin, ground pork and eggplant noodles and lamb with quail egg noodle soup. All in all, everything was pretty good. The beef rolls are wrapped in something similar to mushu wraps instead of green onion pancakes like normal, and the celery and tofu skin was pretty good but a bit on the salty side. The noodles were very good, al dente and had a great chew. The eggplant and pork sauce was good, but I did wish there was something to lighten it up like some greens or cilantro. My partner loved the lamb and quail egg soup, and the broth tasted very clean. Would return to try out their other dishes!
Food: 0/5. Spinach wasn't blanched in water before stir frying so ick tongue and mouth all tingly feeling. Noodle was not chewy and just icky soggy. Ambiance: nice wooden chairs. Waiter and chef friendly. 1 star for the friendly service I guess.
Many other reviews mention the eggplant, and for good reason! It's delicious. Basically like french fries, but healthier. Not too oily or greasy and perfect crispiness. I tried a bit of the E5 (fried oil noodle with pork) and the noodle was very nice and bouncy. The dandan mian was flavorful and delicious, but didn't have any meat or veggies in it. My spice tolerance level is "lao gan ma." I asked for it to be less spicy and it was just a littttle over my limit. The tables all come with wipes and hand sanitizer, so that was very nice of them. The four-person tables are a little too narrow for comfort. The owner is very enthusiastic and stands behind his product, but I can see how it would be overbearing for some people. He did a chair handstand for a table he was entertaining, so props to him! The waiter serving the dishes was super nice and responsive and working very hard to keep up with all the tables.
Good hole in the wall restaurant with very passionate workers. Food was good, hand sliced noodles are it. Only thing is service is slow but I'm assuming a small kitchen.
I have high expectations of the place because I really like knife cut noodles and the place looks legit. The owner even have the look of a knife cut noodle master (it's a Chinese urban legend that knife cut masters shave their heads). I believe that he was an ex-athlete. The wife or the waitress looked really familiar (I'm fairly certain I've seen her in another restaurant before). The service is friendly and pretty good. The place itself is in a strip mall that I knew about only because I used to live close by and there is a Mongolian BBQ place when I feel like having that. Anyways the place itself is decorated just like any other Chinese restaurant and it's not too small. The location is surprisingly popular among non Chinese so my view is strictly Chinese as someone who loves knife cut noodles and often goes to Shanxi for the authentic version. The biggest problem is the same with many other places in that the dough is not mixed (with force) enough times so the noodle feels soggy even if fresh. I know that it takes extra time and effort but that's literally the point of knife cut noodle. Pulled noodles can be pulled extra times but for knife cut noodles the dough needs to be mixed extra firm in order to be chewy in a noodle soup. I do like everything else including the hospitality and the service but I'm just disappointed with the noodle itself. Btw you can order extra noodle and they give you a lot.
My family had a nice dinner here while we were in the area for the world cup. I'm vegan and I ordered the mapo tofu noodles, and when I ordered I confirmed with the owner that this had no meat. However when they brought me my noodles there was ground meat in it, and when I asked the owner about it he immediately took it back and brought me a new one. He said this had never happened before, and I'm not exactly sure how it got mixed up, but the mapo tofu noodles are actually supposed to not have meat by default so it was a weird mistake. Once I got the correct dish, it was extremely delicious, I really loved the unique texture of the knife cut noodles, and the mapo tofu was very very flavorful. The rest of my family also enjoyed their noodles, I believe they all got meat soup dishes with knife cut noodles. Near the end of our meal the owner brought us free bananas for dessert, and when he saw that nobody was eating them, he then brought us plums, which we all ate, and put the bananas in a bag for us to take home. The owner was so nice the whole time and very sociable. He also did a calisthenics trick for us which was quite impressive given he said he was 69. We were offered a 10% discount if we paid cash, which we took. Overall both a delicious and entertaining dinner, and I'm happy to forgive the initial mishap with my order.
saturday solo lunch stop before golf...open at 11am and coming in just after....large menu of various noodles dishes and more...decided on a traditional beef sirloin noodle soup $15.95...a short wait and a big bowl delivered...lot of noodles topped with tender beef and bok choy...broth was rich and flavorful...seasoned just right...noodles were thick and chewy...handmade taste...quite a large portion and very filling...$20 total after tax and tip...
Xiang Xiang Noodle has been on my husband's to go list and on this lovely Friday lunch time we decided to indulge in an authentic Chinese restaurant. The place is very chill and casual. Simply decorated with Chinese artifacts. Very clean and tidy as well. People say a gymnast (aka the owner) might do a headstand for the diners but during our visit, he didn't show off probably because it was busy. They are located in the Tasman Square shopping complex in Sunnyvale, CA - corner of Lawrence expressway and Tasman Drive super close to the border of Santa Clara. Parking is not a problem at all. Open daily from 11 am - 10pm. When we got to the restaurant, there were only us and another table of a group of 3 and as soon as 12:30pm hit, the restaurant was packed. For this visit, we ordered the following: B9 - Salt and Pepper eggplant (my favorite and definitely a must order, their popular dish on the menu) L2 - Sichuan Style spicy soft wontons F1 - Egg Fried Rice A13 - Pork Spareribs with House Special Sauce Jasmine hot tea was complimentary Portions were generous, we had to take home the eggplant and fried rice and spicy soft wontons. The Dandan noodles were also highly recommended and will definitely try it on our next visit but one thing I'm not going to miss ordering - the salt and pepper eggplant!!! The staff were friendly and accommodating. They gave us 10% discount for paying cash. Super highly recommended when in the South Bay. May 2026

Had such a great experience at Xiang Xiang Noodle! I ordered the fried eggplant (zhá qié zi), eggplant noodles (qié dīng miàn), and Sichuan sausage (Sì chuān xiāng cháng), and everything was packed with flavor. I'd happily order all three again. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the visit even better. One of them is a world championship-winning gymnast and even came out to do a performance with us! Such a fun, unexpected highlight that made our meal especially memorable. Delicious food and wonderful people. Definitely worth a visit! read more

I've been coming to this place at least once a month for the past year, the staff is also super friendly and gives great recommendations, even if you don't know what you feel like eating! The quality of their noodles is top notch, you won't be disappointed with whatever noodle dish you choose. Today, I tried the Dandan noodles, apparently one of their best sellers, and I was super impressed. Will definitely be ordering this again read more
IMHO Came upon Xiang Xiang when our original pho restaurant choice was closed for the evening. Happily, Xiang Xiang was opened until 10 p.m.!!! We walked into an empty restaurant and was happily greeted by the proprietress who let us choose our table. They are known for their handmade noodles. Our party of three chose to share the Combination Chow Mein, $17.95, the Traditional Beef Tendon Noodle Soup, $15.95, and a plate of steamed dumplings. While we waited for our food, the restaurant started to fill up with other late diners. Good sign for me! The food was hot and tasty and we had enough for leftovers. I'd be happy to dine here again. read more

Nicest people ever. Such kind owners and great service. The knife cut noodles have great texture and the flavor of the Dan Dan noodles and the sea food stir fry is incredible. The owner can do a very impressive handstand and the lady is so kind and gives great recommendations. read more

We've been ignoring this small restaurant which was next to a donut shop we frequented. This Friday, was a good excuse to try them out as we also wanted efficiency with our chores and trips. The vibe was definitely casual and homey. We picked our table as there were plenty left before the lunch rush. This Sunnyvale location is popular for a quick bite as well as takeout. That fact we found out while nonchalantly savoring our meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel like regulars right away. The complimentary jasmine tea in a pot and waters were served right away as soon as we were done with our orders. DON'T dismiss this "uncle and auntie" operation as another Chinese restaurant. The Sichuan style of cooking we found out was an eclectic assortment of flavors from various seasonings ranging from spicy to sweet. The wonton noodles were clearly homemade, with that perfect al dente texture and bold flavors. The Salt and Pepper Eggplant was a "can't miss standout". Crispy outside and chewy inside. This is ranked up there with other eggplant dishes we've had. The flavorful Egg Fried Rice and Pork Spare Ribs became second string plates due to the impact of the first two dishes. We're definitely coming back for the highly recommended Dan Dan Noodles. The portions are generous and the prices are more than fair. A 10% discount is deducted with cash payments. If you're anywhere near Sunnyvale and craving Sichuan style cooking, this spot is a must. read more

Super friendly owners with high energy. The food overall was delicious. Our group especially likes the salt and pepper fried egg plant. It taste almost like fries and remains hot and crunchy. The noodles were well flavored and have a good chewy texture to it. Came here on a Friday night and was able to be quickly seated. Will come by again for future noodle cravings. read more

If you're coming to Xiang Xiang Noodles you HAVE TO order the Dan Dan Mian and the Salt & Pepper Fried Eggplant, these are non- negotiable. Otherwise don't bother coming if you do not order these two items. Everyone at your table might as well order a bowl of Dan Dan noodles each. They also do not play around with their chili oil and spice. So we warned if you can't take anything more then Lao gan ma you're warned if you order spicy. I crave the Dan Dan noodles and fried eggplant I cannot wait to come eat here again! read more

My partner and I visited on a Sunday around 11 a.m., and there were plenty of open seats. The restaurant has a casual, homey feel, so I wasn't expecting anything too fancy, but the food completely exceeded my expectations. I ordered the knife-cut noodles with minced pork and eggplant sauce, and they were fantastic. The noodles were the perfect thickness (not too wide and not too thin) with a nice chewy texture. What really blew me away was the sauce. It was rich, savory, and packed with umami, with a perfectly balanced flavor that coated every bite of noodles. My partner ordered a spicy noodle soup with thin noodles (I can't remember the exact name, but I'll include a photo). I tried a few bites, and it was just as flavorful, with a rich broth that had a slight kick. I believe the person who helped us was the owner and head chef. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and you could tell he genuinely takes pride in the food he serves. The interior isn't fancy, but it doesn't need to be. It's clean, comfortable, and has just the right amount of seating for the size of the restaurant. Also, they offer a 10% discount if you pay with cash! What a wonderful restaurant :). The owners are extremely warm with traditional Chinese hospitality, always excited to take your order and vocal and appreciative of your patronage. When the hours are slower, they often make small chit chat as well and enjoy engaging with customers. I feel like the owners are very passionate about cooking good food and find great joy in knowing that their customers enjoy the food. I've been here about 3-4 times, and have ordered the beef noodle soup, and stir fried pork noodles, all scissor cut. Everything has always tasted great and flavorful. read more

The dan dan noodles were so good, definitely the best in the Bay, and if you like spicy, this is the place to go! I thought they tasted really authentic, and the owners recommended us to get the cucumber salad as well, which pairs deliciously with the spicy numbing noodles. read more

Small hole in the wall restaurant with handmade noodles. Not too wide in interior - probably not ideal for large parties of 10+. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. They also give 10% discount if you pay in cash, which essentially pays for tax! Salt & pepper eggplant: a dish I haven't seen in other restaurants. It was delicious and almost tasted like French fries. The outside was light and crispy, and the inside was soft and lightly gooey like eggplants are. Highly recommend! Traditional beef noodle soup: broth was yummy and not too salty. Meat was slightly tough. The knife cut noodles were thick but not as chewy as I have tried from other handmade noodle restaurants - slightly dough-y Dan Dan noodles: not overly spicy, good flavor, but also slightly dough-y and not very chewy noodle consistency. Me and my cousins came on a Saturday afternoon some time after lunch and the place was pretty empty save for the staff. We were told they get busier during dinner but if it is "dead quiet" during the afternoon, the chef will go take a nap lol. Location is in a plaza and there is adequate amount of parking. I'd say service is quick probably 'cuz we were the only customers there at the time lol. But we came for the famous "dan dan noodles", which was one of our favorites. Sauce was evenly distributed and spiced to our comfort level. Fresh green scallions topped it off. Everything came out hot and fresh -- great presentation in classic china bowls. We cleaned through the salt & pepper eggplant-- loved the salty crunchy toppings(fried flour?). Eggplant was hot & crispy! We also ordered the wonton in chili oil - spicy level cannot be adjusted LOL. Your usual standard. Then between the noodle with eggplant sauce and the Xiang Xiang noodle, I think the eggplant sauce one was better. The sauce just seemed richer. The Xiang one has more toppings (shredded carrot , bean sprout, cucumber and mushroom) but I didn't like the flavor much. I ordered the seafood fried rice for takeout --it was fine. No complaints there. Nothing bad and nothing impressive. Their menus have TONS of options to choose from. Can't go wrong with the top favorites though. read more

The mom and pop vibes at this restaurant is through the roof. Everything here was immaculate. The hot sauce is home made and it really has a kick. They are quick and efficient with everything. I would come back for sure! read more
I really hope my experience was a mistake, but it wasn't very enjoyable. While the lady at the front acts nice, she's very passive aggressive and in the aggressive way that makes me feel like she doesn't respond well to pressure. But that wasn't really the problem. The noodles, both that we ordered, came out lukewarm. Noodle soup and a dry noodle dish both coming out lukewarm does make you think. And while the flavors are good, I don't want my noodles coming out lukewarm.... Especially when the dumplings came out piping hot. Otherwise, the place was fine. Private parking. Had this placed booked marked for a while. Went in to try it for lunch. Friendly welcome at the door. The lady waitress was super sweet and helpful. Food came out quick. We picked a table and ordered: Traditional beef sirloin noodle soup (thin noodle) $16: 4/5 beef was tender and amazing taste! Broth was really good too. Noodles were still thick like chow mein. Lamb quail egg knife shaved noodle soup $19: 4/5 hubby enjoyed his soup. He would have picked a different type of noodle as well. Pig ear $10: 4/5 sauce was different but tasty. read more
I came to Xiang Xiang noodle with my friends, and we had an overall good time. The space is big with lots of tables. It seems like a mom and pop shop, where one takes orders and talks to customers, where the other cooks in the back. The lady was super nice and conversed with us throughout our meal! She mostly speaks Mandarin, but luckily one of our friends was able to translate. Our food came out quickly, and it was a generous amount. However, I do not think it was to my flavor. The salt pepper eggplant is what they are known for, and it was solid. Though, not entirely mindblowing. My egg and tomato dish could be a bit more flavorful. The service was amazing regardless, and I am glad we got to try! read more

Enjoyed the food here ! They have a very authentic menu and I loved the consistency of the knife cut noodles. Traditional beef soup - strong broth flavor. Tender beef. Only wish there was more protein. Amazing knife cut noodles. Vegetarian fried noodle - knife cut noodles with soy sauce and veggies. Very flavorful and savory. Spicy wonton - asked for mild because it looked very spicy. It did have some heat to it still. Would come again and try more of their menu. So many authentic items that I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. read more
We wanted to grab dinner with some friends and everything was closing within the hour except this location. Our experience started off fairly friendly and we were greeted right away by what I assume was the owner. We had high hopes for this restaurant and ordered 3 soup dishes, 1 dry dish, and 1 appetizer. When we were ordering, he was really trying to advertise other dishes especially the salt and pepper eggplant dish. We were fairly firm and didn't want to add too much to our order. When our orders started coming out, he bought out the eggplant dish that we did not order and insisted that if we did not like it that he would not charge us for it. This completely threw us off because we really did not want the extra dish. After dropping off the dishes, he completely avoided our table except to fill our water in the very end. The food itself was okay. The broth was fairly flavorful. I also liked how the seafood dry noodle had a good amount of shrimp and scallop. The biggest problem were the noodles in every dish which very doughy and starchy. At the end of the meal, we asked for the check. He told us that if we paid by cash there would be a discount. We waited for a really long time and realized that he was not coming back to give us our change which puts us at such a difficult position. In the end of the day, it was not a huge amount but it's about the principle. This whole experience was really strange to us especially since there are so many good reviews. It's a decent spot if you were in the area but I will definitely not go out of my way to come back. read more
