I really enjoy Ox 9! It's my go-to spot for hand-pulled noodles in the area. I got my usual - the beef soup. It's my favorite because of the rich broth. This place has the best noodle soup broth I have ever tasted, especially when you add chili oils and garlic. The noodles are chewy and bouncy, and have a good noodle-to-broth ratio. The only thing I didn't really like was the beef. I'm usually a huge fan of beef in soup, but the beef was a little too chewy. Over beef soups I've had were tender, which I personally enjoy more. I've been to the San Mateo location, and this one is just as good. I ordered the Spicy Ground Pork Dry Noodles and fried calamari. I always go for the thickest hand-pulled noodles, but since this was delivery, they ended up sticking together a bit, so I'm taking off one star for that. Still, the dish was delicious overall. The spicy ground pork sauce definitely brought the heat, though there wasn't much actual pork, so don't expect a lot of protein. This place has enough parking and during a busy lunch hour I was able to get seated for 1 in less than 3 minutes. I scanned the code on the wall and got my first dish in less than 5 minutes. It was fun having the cucumber spiraled that way. The wontons were pillowy soft and yummy. Nice waiters getting you water and taking away dishes. It was a really good experience. Dang,,, we got lucky and beat the Friday evening rush! At about 6:30, the restaurant was about half-capacity and we were able to grab a table of 2. But, I would say by 7p, there was a whole waitlist that formed. But the line shouldn't be a a worry since the food comes out literally less than 5 minutes after ordering! I have never had hand-pulled noodles come out almost instantly. I ordered the soybean paste dry noodles with pork *chef's kiss*,,, I actually ordered the small round noodles and I am a big fan! The noodles are customizable per your preference, I just so happen to really enjoy the smaller noodles over the commonly ordered thick/flat noodles. I was initially worried it would not be good as they specialize in noodle soups but we were so shocked that the noodles were SO GOOD. This place is so good. I have been kind of in the mood for hand-pulled noodles since going to Season's Noodles in Mountain View. This location is a bit closer to San Jose. I did see they also have a spot in Valley Fair, but this one is way easier for parking. We showed up about 10 minutes to 5 for an early dinner, but they don't actually open until 5. You walk in and take a seat. Then you order from your phone, and the food comes out pretty quickly. It's not a lot of fancy ambiance, but it did seem like the focus is on the fast and delicious food. I got the original #1 dish, which is a beef broth with hand-pulled noodles. I got the flat wide noodles, and they were excellent. They have chili oil and other condiments on the table if you want to add more spice to your soup. The serving size is really generous. I came here for lunch with my mom, and we shared the Spicy Wontons ($10.98), Shredded Kelp Salad ($7.98), Marinated Cucumber Salad ($8.98), and the Beef Noodles with Chinese Pickles ($16.48). The noodle soup is the star of the show, and you can pick what kind of noodles you want (round vs flat, as well as the thickness).
