Soybean paste dry noodles with pork
    Peter N.

Dang,,, we got lucky and beat the Friday evening rush! At about 6:30, the restaurant was about half-capacity and we were able to grab a table of 2. But, I would say by 7p, there was a whole waitlist that formed. But the line shouldn't be a a worry since the food comes out literally less than 5 minutes after ordering! I have never had hand-pulled noodles come out almost instantly. I ordered the soybean paste dry noodles with pork *chef's kiss*,,, I actually ordered the small round noodles and I am a big fan! The noodles are customizable per your preference, I just so happen to really enjoy the smaller noodles over the commonly ordered thick/flat noodles. We finished our food and the check came out almost instantly. After a few rounds of water, they kindly asked that we leave so that they could seat the next round of customers.

Overall, this scratched the itch for hand pulled noodles but nothing blew me away. My boyfriend ordered the spicy ground pork dry noodles and I ordered the chili oil noodles with braised beef, and we shared the popcorn chicken. I thought the portion sizes were generous (I ordered extra beef on my dish in anticipation of there being a small amount of meat), and the noodles tasted fresh and densely satisfying. However, the beef was overly fatty in my opinion, and the chili oil felt a little flat (I feel like chili oil wontons have more layers of flavor). The popcorn chicken was also a big portion size and crispy; we liked it but have also had more flavorful or interesting popcorn chicken at other Chinese restaurants. As for service: we ordered on an app and our food came out within 5 minutes, despite being peak dinner time.

Really good beef noodles, broth is fragrant, chilli oil is authentic. Cucumber salad is probably the best in Bay Area too. Casual noodles place, usually not too busy.

Ox9 has been a family favorite and I always find myself coming back for a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup whenever I visit home in the Bay Area. Ox9 specializes in Lanzhou hand pulled noodles. They have different sizes of noodles ranging to thin to flat noodles. My favorite is the large flat noodles in the sichuan beef noodle soup. We visited on a Monday late afternoon and there were lots of seating options. Service was very quick and we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. We also ordered the popcorn chicken, which was perfectly crispy and seasoned. We saw other tables order the beef chow mein (stir fry noodles) so we were influenced to try it as well. I was initially worried it would not be good as they specialize in noodle soups but we were so shocked that the noodles were SO GOOD. Despite being stir fried, the noodles were fresh and chewy, had the perfect amount of sauce and the beef was tender and soft. The portion size was also HUGE and we had lots of food to take home for dinner. Pricing was super reasonable, each dish was under $15 which is hard to find these days. Definitely one of my go to spots for an affordable and comfort meal!

Went here with my parents and they told me this is their favorite Chinese noodle place to go to! The 辣椒 is honesty delicious and I'm tempted to buy some from them to keep at home. They do hand pulled noodles here so you know you are getting good quality. I would definitely eat here again and it's for a decent price too! (under $20 pp)

***USP: hand pulled noodle based dishes. Handful of vegetarian options as well. ***AMBIANCE: seating is along a narrow corridor but opens up a bit at the far end of restaurant. Can have a wait time but lines move quickly. The kitchen has open glass windows allowing us to enjoy the hand pulling action. ***FOOD: I understand some items are authentically greasy but every dish we got was very greasy including the chowmein. *Popcorn chicken : 3.5/5: had surprisingly small cuts of chicken and almost resembled the size of actual pop corn. Quantity was humongous as well. *mung bean noodles with garlic sauce:3/5: we didn't realize this dish would be cold or that it came with an oil based sauce. *chilli oil noodles:3.5/5: we were expecting this dish to be oily. Though it was tossed in chilli oil, it wasn't very greasy. Pretty enjoyable. *chicken chowmein:4/5: extremely greasy, chicken was well cooked and soft. It lacked flavor though.

I would avoid ordering any noodle soups here unless you want it with a hearty side of ingested microplastics! We stopped by here for dinner looking for some tasty noods. The interior and service is kind of classic no-frills Chinese restaurant. We ordered the Chili Oil Noodles and Mala Beef Noodle Soup. Chili Oil Noodles (5/5): This one is lathered and drenched in bright red savory chili oil, balanced by a nice dosage of acidic vinegar. There's a fast food chow mein flavor that I think goes well with the dish. Noodles are wide and voluptuously bouncy as well! Mala Beef Noodle Soup (1/5): This dish was a disaster. The steaming hot, greasy soup comes served in a CHEAP plastic bowl. I'm talking that really low-quality plastic that sounds hollow and light if you tap it. I don't think serving such a hot bowl of greasy soup in a bowl like this is a good idea, talk about microplastics! Besides that, the meat was tough and the soup just tasted like mala from an instant packet. It was just a big pool of lifeless grease. Overall, chili oil noodles are good but avoid the mala beef noodle soup.

This place is so good. I have been kind of in the mood for hand-pulled noodles since going to Season's Noodles in Mountain View. This location is a bit closer to San Jose. I did see they also have a spot in Valley Fair, but this one is way easier for parking. We showed up about 10 minutes to 5 for an early dinner, but they don't actually open until 5. You walk in and take a seat. Then you order from your phone, and the food comes out pretty quickly. It's not a lot of fancy ambiance, but it did seem like the focus is on the fast and delicious food. I got the original #1 dish, which is a beef broth with hand-pulled noodles. I got the flat wide noodles, and they were excellent. They have chili oil and other condiments on the table if you want to add more spice to your soup. The serving size is really generous. We also tried the garlic cucumber, which was really delicious, and the spicy wontons, which I saw recommended on Yelp. I will definitely be back when I'm craving noodles.

I love hand pulled noodles and was excited to try this restaurant! The inside is small, cozy and clean. Service was very fast and friendly and they were open on Christmas! Ordering was through the QR code at our table. We ordered a variety of dishes to try and brought a few dishes home to my parents. My favorites were the chili wontons and the dry hand pulled noodles. The noodles were chewy and soaked up the flavor of the dish. The soup noodles were good but the noodles soften quickly so I definitely prefer the dry noodles. The spicy ground pork noodles and the chili oil noodles were both delicious with different flavor profiles. I'll definitely be back for more noodles!!

    C.2 Spicy Pig Ears
    Don L.

Food was bomb and perfectly seasoned. Noodles tasted fresh, spice level was perfect with a scoop of their house made chili crisp, and the spicy pig ears were so addicting. Service was excellent and they kept refilling our waters and checking up on us. Awesome meal in Cupertino. Will definitely come back.

I've heard great things about Ox 9 and had been meaning to visit for ages, but overall found it just okay. We got there around noon on a Saturday, and had to wait around 40 minutes, including a 20 minute wait to be seated even after they'd called us back to tell us our table was ready. We shared; - LANZHOU HAND-PULLED NOODLES: The ratio of beef to noodles was disappointing, and the small flat noodles got too soft in the soup and mushed together. We also got these non-spicy which might be why they were bland - BOILED PORK DUMPLINGS - These were ok -- basic and inoffensive. - SOYBEAN PASTE NOODLES: I really liked the QQ chew of the medium round noodles, but as an overall dish this was pretty one note, with barely any vegetables - PORK SANDWICH: Honestly this was probably the best thing we got

    Hannah H.

Their noodle soups are always good and the sides that I've tried are really good as well! Try the mung bean garlic noodles and chili oil wontons for sure! I go here on a regular basis and the service here is always very fast. The staff are cordial and do their job well!! The interior is clean and akin to a fast moving restaurant in china, so the ambiance is by no means intimate but that isn't a bad thing!

Beef noodles with chinese pickle - reg round noodles
    Doriee L.

Came here for a quick lunch on our final day in the Bay Area. Every table has a QR code for you to look at the menu and you can also order through the QR code as well. My husband got their beef noodles with chinese pickles with round noodles while I got their stewed lamb noodles with belt flat. The stewed lamb noodles were very good. The soup had good flavor -- you can taste that it's lamb but its not super gamey. I kind of wished it had a deeper lamb flavor to the soup. The lamb pieces were cut into cubes and really easy to eat. The noodles were great! They were super wide, thick, and had a great chew. Add a splash of chili oil and you got the perfect meal. I think belt flat may have been a bit too wide -- large flat might be better but I still enjoyed my bowl regardless. My husband liked this bowl of noodles as well. Good beefy flavor to the soup and the noodles were cooked well. Overall, delicious, easy, and quick. Wouldn't mind coming back if I was visiting again!

Do they use peanut or peanut oil in any of the dishes?

Nope, no peanut. only have sesame on the top of spicy wonton, sesame seeds in the homemade spicy oil. You can always let waiter know if you need any accommodation, they are able to help. Thanks.

    Any vegetarian or vegan options?

The chili oil noodles were a great vegetarian option when we went!

    Are they allowing dine in?

They only have 2 tiny tables outside right now. Expect to get your food for takeout here

Congratulations on your new opening, can't wait to try! Are you offering Pick-Up only? Don't the noodles get too mushy when packaged to-go?

Mine didn't get mushy, but they were a little cold. Still delicious though!

The only consistent experience I've had are the oranges at the end of the meal. They are always amazingly sweet, juicy, and comes off the peel easily. We ordered the Chicken Karaage, Gyoza, Hakata Tonkatsu and the Chicken Paitan. We wanted to order the Chicken Paitan DX but we were told that their grill was not working so they could not grill the chicken thigh that came with the DX order. The soups came in bowls that were irrgular shaped and colorful. Everything tasted good. The chicken Karaage was generously portioned and tasted great. My son devoured them in no time. The Hakata Tonkatsu had a very rich, well developed broth that was so delicious. Might have been a little too rich for me as I was not able to finish the meal. The chicken Paitan was also delicious but the broth was a lighter broth. Our gyoza order did not come until much later in the meal. We had to remind our waiter that we did not get our order. This dish, gyoza, was disappointing. It did not look like it was homemade - looked more store bought. We didn't care for the taste with the dipping sauce that came with it. Not sure if this was because we had the heavier broth first. It just fell flat after the robust and rich hakata tonkatsu meal I had. Service was friendly. The waiter and manager(?), were apologetic that the gyoza order was delayed (or forgotten?). They also apologized for their grill not working that day. I would definitely come back here to try the other items on their menu.

First you select a broth (I don't do spicy, so I always pick their chicken broth; but friends and family enjoy the spicy flavors a lot). Then you pick your toppings - a large variety of both meat and veggie options! It comes with a little veggies (spinach, corn, mushroom, bamboo) too. My favorite appetizer is their rice spicy honeycomb tripe - great marinade! Recently tried the Hainan chicken dish and it was good too (though I would prefer more ginger than scallion in the oil and the roasted peanuts, garlic cucumber are yummy too!). In the past we have also had the fried rice, which my kiddos really love. But the true highlight is to get the "large" soup noodles where they serve it in a bowl larger than your whole head.
