Came here on a Monday evening for dinner after randomly stumbling across this place and not really knowing what to expect. The staff was really friendly and helped explain how everything worked. You grab a bowl, pick whatever vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and noodles you want, then bring it to the counter to choose your broth. They charge by weight, so it's easy for the price to climb. I loaded mine up with different greens, a few kinds of tofu, a lot of wood ear mushrooms, and udon. The vegetarian broth is the only meat-free option and tasted more like tomato soup. It wasn't too spicy, everything was cooked well, and all the vegetables tasted fresh. There weren't many people there, so it was nice and quiet. They also have a sauce station with soy sauce, garlic, oils, and different seasonings so you can mix whatever combination you want. My bowl ended up being about $32, which felt a little expensive, but it really depends on how much you put in your bowl.

I've tried a lot of malatang spots around the Bay, and Cuanyue stands out for its broth. The soup was rich, flavorful, and had a really nice depth without being overly heavy. It's easily one of the better broths I've had. The ingredients are pretty standard for a malatang spot, but everything was fresh and cooked well. I also appreciated the little packets of tengjiao oil they provide. They add a bright, citrusy numbing flavor that takes the soup up another level and lets you adjust it to your taste. Overall, it's a great place if you're craving a comforting bowl of malatang. I'll definitely be back for the broth alone.

If I lived nearby, I would come here every week. It's THAT good, especially the malatang & TANING next door combo. First of all, that peelable mantou (steamed bun) had crack in it or something...SOOO fluffy and warm that I was seriously debating ordering another one. I know it's really just a novelty of concept, but it was insanely satisfying peeling all the layers away. I was so impressed by my tangy tomato broth...I've never experienced such a rich tomato flavor in the US. It's like they use tomatoes from China or something idk. The malatang ingredients are very fresh and they have basically everything you could want in hotpot. Amazinggg meal. Be prepared to wait.

So excited to see a new malatang spot open up in the bay area because I've been really enjoying malatang recently. And this place was actually SO GOOD. I feel like usually all malatang spots are relatively similar, and nothing stands out THAT much. Same selection of toppings, same quality, same broth, etc. But this place actually stood out to me because their toppings seemed a lot more fresh and the bone broth wasn't as oily. It felt light. The sliced beef seemed a lot more lean than most malatang places I've been to before. I also really liked the fortune tofu stuffed with roe which I feel like I have never seen at other malatang spots. Granted it was very new at the time I went, the exterior was so clean and cute for a malatang place. AND they give you an adorable apron so you don't splash broth on your clothes which is so smart. I need this at every restaurant!! We went on a Monday lunch, and it wasn't busy at all!

I think I ordered the wrong thing. The dry mix had too many sesame seeds and corn nuts, which overpowered my whole palette tbh. Wished I had ordered the soup broth instead. I got to sample my friend's beef broth (medium) and it was pretty good. She even shared with me some of her broth so I can use for my bowl. I still like YGF malatang more because of the flavors and offerings. I need to come back here to give it another shot. Some key notes is that this place gets crowded and tight spaces. The line to get your toppings is too close to the tables and kinda awkward. Same with the sauce bar. When we went they didn't restock as much instant noodles so when it was time for me to get some, there was barely any. Staff were polite and nice. Decent portions and pricing but wasn't satisfying for me. This dish was waaaay too nutty for me. The sesame sauce on the side didn't help. I'll stick with the chili oils.

My new favorite malatang restaurant! I like the flavor of the beef bone broth, a decent variety of items to add to your both, good sauces and the interior is modern and nice. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Standard service! My friends and I arrived around 7pm on a Friday and it was pretty busy but the line moved quickly and we did not have to wait to be seated. They have a good variety of veggies, noodles but I noticed they only have a few options of meat compared to Malatown in the Milpitas plaza which is why I gave it stars. They do have seafood though. I filled my bowl with all the goodies and then chose medium spicy beef bone broth. The broth is flavorful and tastes pretty similar to Malatown's. I like that they have Szechuan peppercorn oil as an option as the sauce bar since I love numbing spice. My bowl was so good! I love that Taning is right next door if you want to grab a refreshing drink. I would totally come back to Cuanyue.

Cuanyue is one of the latest hot pot locations to open in Sunnyvale. It seems to be a chain in other countries! Parking is highly available. The shop is extremely clean and orderly. There's plenty of ingredients to choose from. There's so many more ingredients than other hot pot locations! Service is quick and seamless. They are also super friendly! I like how the store don't charge you for the weight of the actual bowl. The tangy tomato flavor wasn't spicy even at the mild level. With all the choices, I'll be back to try all the other ingredients since they aren't available elsewhere.

I wanted to update my review because I did end up coming back and had a much better experience this time around. When I visited again, they were constantly restocking the topping bar, which made a huge difference compared to my last visit. The broth was flavorful again and had the rich taste I was originally expecting from a good malatang spot. The indoor seating situation is still a bit limited, but after coming back, I realized there's probably not much they can do given the size of the restaurant and how popular it's becoming. I still think the sauce bar could use fresher chilis, and I'd love to see more topping options added over time, but overall the food and service were noticeably better this visit. I'll definitely continue coming back.

A memorable experience, to say the least. Mei (or May, if I'm spelling it correctly) was our primary server, and she was attentive, friendly, and genuinely kind throughout our visit. The food matched the service. The broth was flavorful, comforting, and reasonably priced, which is always appreciated. My only small nitpick is that I wish they offered more topping options, such as taro and regular instant noodles instead of only the green instant noodles. I must say the sauce bar is incredible and has unique options such as the Szechuan peppercorn oil, which you don't typically see! We also appreciated the fact the restaurant kept up to being clean, I noticed the restroom had constant check-in schedules and also I appreciate they give us disposal bibs so the oil doesnt get on our clothes. Overall, a great experience with excellent service and tasty food. I'd happily come back again.

As a family we enjoy malatang even though we don't eat a lot of varieties of meat. This place can be called tiny. The food station is maintained well. For a person like me who eats only chicken, a few varieties of seafood and veggies, the options weren't many at all. But, I was there for the soup! We loaded up our bowls with whatever we could eat, got it weighed and picked the spicy broth for it to be cooked in. Bowls came out within a few minutes and they were humongous. The spice in the soup came from Sichuan peppers. The soup was delicious and frankly didn't need any extra seasoning from the sauce bar. What was bothersome were the Sichuan peppers. I don't mind their flavor but the whole peppers in the soup kept overwhelming the palate every few spoonfuls. I infact fished out all the peppers to allow me to enjoy the soup in peace. I recommend avoiding the corn cob, it doesn't get fully cooked in the soup.

I had never heard of this malatang restaurant before, and honestly, I regret not finding it sooner! It's definitely popular because they have a waitlist (though I only had to wait about 15 minutes). Their soup base is GOAT!!! It's the best thing they offer, and I'd even say it's the best malatang broth in the Bay. I tried both the tomato and mild bone broth, and they both served!!!! I still think about them to this day and definitely need to come back soon. As for the toppings, unfortunately the selection of meat, veggies, and meatballs is a bit limited compared to other malatang places. But honestly, I'd gladly overlook that because the soup is just that good. 10/10 I'll definitely be a regular here!

Easy, fast, convenient malatang spot that's popular with the young people these days. Upon entry, I was quickly given a table number to sit after choosing my malatang ingredients. On the day that I went, they did not have quail eggs, thick potato noodles, etc so it seems that they may change the ingredients' availability from time to time. I picked the bone broth. Service was quick. The sauce station got pretty messy by 1pm on a weekday with no more green onions and cilantro, but the sauce options were aplenty. They offer you disposable bibs upon request. For $14.99/lb, I would go again if I were in the area for a quick meal.

My fiance and I love building our own hot pot and wanted to try this new spot out. The broth was a bit salty for me and my fiance mentioned that it was hard for him to finish his. It's pretty small inside, so it feels congested. Service is good, so maybe I'll give it another try in the future.

The veggies, noodles, and some seafood come by on the conveyor belt next to the table. Veggie quality and freshness was 7/10. Seafood was a 6/10. Would definitely recommend! Looks like a great place to come with friends too, they offer large shareable sizes for their soju cocktails.

PARKING: decent parking, it's around other places so it is in a lot but if it is a busy time it would be pretty hard to try and get a space. FOOD: We got the ultra, Tom Yum Tonkotsu & Shiro Miso Soymilk - Tom Yum tasted really good and it paired well with the meat, the Shiro Miso just tasted more like miso soup than actual soy milk mixed in. We came in with a party of six for dinner on a Monday evening when the restaurant was relatively quiet, with only a few other tables occupied. We asked if it would be possible to combine tables so our group could order multiple broths and enjoy the meal together because sharing one pot for a party of 6 gets a little crowded, but the request was denied despite there appearing to be plenty of available space. As the meal progressed, our broth became extremely cloudy and thick from cooking. We politely asked if we could receive a fresh pot of the same broth--not a different broth, just a new pot so we could continue enjoying our meal. Unfortunately, this request was also denied. The broth flavoring was also underwhelming and started to taste the same after our first refill. What made the experience disappointing was the lack of flexibility and willingness to accommodate reasonable requests, especially during a slow service period. Customer service and hospitality are an important part of the dining experience, and we left feeling that our concerns were dismissed rather than addressed.
