Tangsuyuk: Sweet & Sour Crispy Pork | $22.99 (requested sauce on the side)
    Cherylynn N.

4.25 STARS Gotta love the way AZN parentals reduce, reuse, and recycle. Like opening a blue tin in hopes of danish cookies but it's freakin' sewing supplies. Or, reusing plastic bags as garbage liners. Or, repurposing plastic takeout containers as Tupperware. This business took over Kiku Sushi (FKA Osaka Marketplace). Maybe they didn't want to buy a new sign so said, "WTH, we'll just reuse the sign and call ourselves 'Kiku Restaurant'". The "Kiku Sushi" sign remains. And, no sushi is served. Opening in January 2025, Kiku Restaurant 香苑 향원 serves Korean-Chinese cuisine. It's from the original owner of Tong Soon Garden (Santa Clara). Open for takeout and indoor dining only. Visited during their second opening week and we were the only diners there on a Saturday for lunch. M E N U Korean-Chinese Cuisine, a cuisine created by Chinese immigrants in Korea. Essentially, Chinese-American dishes tweaked for the Korean palate along with staples like jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork). Same all day menu. No lunch specials. Complimentary hot tea served. F O O D * Complimentary Kimchi and Pickled Radish * Tangsuyuk: Sweet & Sour Crispy Pork ($22.99): https://tinyurl.com/fvspb7hf - Requested sauce on the side Fav dish - the strips of pork was crispy and tender with a nice chewy bite. The pork wasn't too lean so it wasn't dry. Always prefer tangsuyuk with sauce on the side so it stays crispy. The viscous sweet and sour sauce was perfectly sweet and tangy with pineapple, wood ear mushroom, carrot, cucumber, and onion. * Szechuan Prawns ($23.99): https://tinyurl.com/4v4dr625 Recommended by one of the owners (?), this was my least fav dish. While the shrimp was fresh and plump, the batter was soft/soggy and the tangy sauce needed more heat for that distinctive szechaun flavor. * Jajangmyeon: Korean-Chinese Black Bean Noodles ($14.99): https://tinyurl.com/buz5hrac - We ordered the "Gan-Jajangmyeon", the stir-fried version for +$1 but we were given the Jajangmyeon. Didn't want to waste food or send it back so we kept it. Nice, chewy QQ noodles covered in a glossy sauce with firm shrimp, tender bits of pork, chewy squid, crisp onions + cabbage, and zucchini. The savory-umami flavor was there but I wished they added more sugar to balance the saltiness of the fermented black beans. Otherwise, it was solid. S E R V I C E Humble, warm, and earnest. Flag staff down when you need something. Food took some time to come out but they're new and we weren't in a rush. A M B I A N C E Minimalist retro with mismatched tables and furnishings. There's about a dozen tables and booths. Christian music playlist. P A R K I N G Deserted plaza with easy parking. Overall, Kiku Restaurant 香苑 향원 serves solid Korean-Chinese cuisine. The owner(s) say, they'll be expanding the menu so looking forward to seeing what else they'll have in store.

Kiku Sushi is now transformed into a Korean-Chinese fusion spot!! It's an unassuming corner of this plaza. There's big tables for big groups. Simple menu, and staff are kind. + Jajangmyeon (3/5): It lacked some flavor for me. I wish the black bean sauce was a bit saltier or had more umami. They did not skimp on pork and seafood though! Worth the price point! Good texture of noodles too. + Cold Jellyfish Salad (5/5): I loved this! Had a hint of wasabi in the sauce. Super tasty and I loved the jellyfish texture. Perfectly chewyyyy.

The owners of the original 同順園 (Tong Soon Garden) in Santa Clara has taken over Kiku Sushi and changed it to a Chinese-Korean restaurant with noodles and great appetizers as their main brand. They're still in soft opening right now so service was a bit slow but they're very busy with full tables and large take out orders. There's a soft opening special until 01/15/25 for $9.99 on Jajangmyun and Jjampong. We ordered the Jajangmyun and the Jjambong--both were delicious with ample seafood and toppings. Our server highly recommended their Kan Pung Gi (chicken wings) which were also delicious and full of flavor. Tangsuyuk was on the sweeter side but with a big serving of pork and toppings. Overall it's a pretty good place if you want casual good Korean-Chinese food in the area.

Food was overall pretty good and arrived fast after we ordered! Everyone was super kind and the restaurant was pretty quiet when my group visited.

Service was good and the location was clean. The braised string beans were great. Very savory. Not a fan of the black bean noodles as it tasted too sweet and more tomato based than I was expecting. The noodles themselves were excellent, the sauce did not taste as good as it looked. The walnut shrimp came out hot and the presentation was good. The challenge is that they drizzled the sweet sauce that makes the prawns so delicious. I asked for more sauce which they graciously provided where it would have been great to have it provided up front. Overall good, where some small changes could make it much better.

Had the jjampong and jajangmyeon. The noodles had a nice chew. The staff were super friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Interior was a bit old school but roomy. I'd come back for the convenience of the location, if I was nearby.

Located in the back part of the plaza, has plenty of parking though! The sign still says Kiki Sushi but to the right is the entrance to the restaurant (had a neon open sign). There were about 4 other families there when we arrived for early Sunday dinner. The interior is large and spacious. We ordered jjajangmyun, tangsooyuk, chicken fried rice, and ganpungi (fried chicken). Everything tasted fresh (including the veggies in the tangsooyuk!). The portions were enormous and we ended up boxing leftovers to take home. The hosts were very responsive and friendly. Hopefully this place continues to draw in crowds!

Hidden Gem Alert! I stumbled upon this delightful little spot completely by chance, and I'm so glad I did! They had jjangjjangmyeon on the menu, which immediately caught my eye. And let me tell you, the food is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the black bean noodles - perfectly savory and satisfying - and the chicken wings, which were crispy and flavorful. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making the whole experience even better. It has a lovely, open floor plan and everything was spotlessly clean. You can definitely tell it's a family-run business with a lot of heart. Get there before the crowds discover this place! You won't be disappointed.

Great simple cozy and homey food. Yummy home cooking feel. Courteous and attentive service with a smile. Will be our go to simple Korean close to Saratoga. So glad there is this joint here. Will be back for sure.

The old gang from Santa Clara's Tong Soon Garden is back at a new location. Taking over the old Kiku Sushi location is the new Korean-Chinese restaurant serving delicious noodles and dumplings. "Dry" Zha Jiang Mian is one of the best in the bay area, better than the standard version. They're short-staffed and open only for lunch for now.

We love Korean-Chinese food and happened to be in the area. We've eaten at Tong Soon in the past so when we saw that the original owners have opened a new restaurant we knew we had to come by and try it. Plenty of parking in the plaza and the restaurant itself is cute and cozy with many booths available for seating. The owners were super kind to my family and were able to amen some adjustments for a few dishes to be made vegetarian for my partner. I had the jjampong which I would say is in my top 3 for jjampong in the Bay area. Lots of fresh seafood and the vegetables were cooked just enough to have that wok hei and still retain that delicious crunch. The noodles were springy and had a great chew, and the soup was umami without being overly spicy. It was so good I had to get another bowl to go! My partner had the mapo tofu made without meat, which was also very good. If we are in the area we will definitely be back for another meal.

Ordered four dishes for three people. Portions were great but should have ordered only three dishes.

First you select a broth (I don't do spicy, so I always pick their chicken broth; but friends and family enjoy the spicy flavors a lot). Then you pick your style of noodle (the fish noodle was fun to try, but I prefer the ramen or the knife-cut or rice noodles). Then you pick your toppings - a large variety of both meat and veggie options! It comes with a little veggies (spinach, corn, mushroom, bamboo) too. My favorite appetizer is their rice spicy honeycomb tripe - great marinade! Recently tried the Hainan chicken dish and it was good too (though I would prefer more ginger than scallion in the oil and the roasted peanuts, garlic cucumber are yummy too!). In the past we have also had the fried rice, which my kiddos really love. But the true highlight is to get the "large" soup noodles where they serve it in a bowl larger than your whole head. Didn't get it this past visit because we weren't that hungry... but it is always a fun order! I enjoy having the treat of a drink with their combo deal. :)

I did 4 add ons (brisket, tendon, wood ear, and pork stomach). The ingredients were all pretty solid. The rice noodle was good. Broth was great. I added the spicy sauce into my broth - their spice is fragrant and flavorful. Overall, it's a solid choice. I'd want to come back and try their Hainan chicken next time.

After placing our order, the food came out relatively quick. We ordered 2 beef noodle soups, the works, and 2 beef rolls. Starting off with the beef rolls, these came out cold. I heard that this is what this place was known for. The meat in our rolls wasn't even lukewarm and the pancakes came out super soggy almost like they didn't even try. Please tell me how the pancake look brown and crispy on the outside and still comes out cold and not crispy at all. My nephew even said they weren't crispy and he's 3. The lady told us that the sauce on the inside was salty and that's why they don't give extra and man was she right. 1/5* The beef noodles soup itself flavor wise was good and portion wise it was good for $21, but my noodles had no chew to them at all. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The egg is a nice touch but not too sure if it's worth the price. Noodle consistency was the same as the beef noodle soup. 2.5/5*
