I've been meaning to stop by Jenny's Kitchen for a while now, but I rarely find myself down in South Bay. Today, during a rare trip to Santana Row, I decided to finally make a quick detour and pick up a snack to-go. Jenny's Kitchen isn't the kind of place you'll see all over social media -- and for that reason, it doesn't get a ton of attention or frequent reviews. Located in what looks like an abandoned strip mall, the spot is very easy to miss. I'll admit I was a bit hesitant, especially after seeing some of the recent negative reviews, so I came in with fairly low expectations. That said, some of the common criticisms are fair: when you're checking out, there's a noticeable upsell of other items -- deli goods, vegetables, fruit, etc. Also, keep in mind that credit card payments incur a fee, so it's better to pay in cash if you can. Not all items can be purchased on their own. For example, you can only purchase multiple sesame balls at once. With all that said, the food itself is great. We really enjoyed the chive pancake, and the fan tuan (rice roll) is a steal, especially compared to other spots like Xiaoman Riceburrito in Cupertino, where you're mostly paying for fancy packaging. The youtiao inside the fan tuan is admittedly not the crispiest, but again, you're not paying premium prices for the best of the best here. The chive pancake had a generous amount of filling. It wasn't crispy (understandable, since it had been sitting in the case for a while), and eating it out of a plastic bag wrapped in a paper towel wasn't the easiest. But the flavor was solid -- the texture just didn't hold up. The soy milk wasn't my favorite since it tasted a bit more watered down than I'm used to, but it wasn't bad. The soy milk doesn't have any sugar added, and there's no sugar available onsite for you to add, so keep this in mind before ordering. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again for a quick snack, especially the chive pancake and rice roll. Just know what to expect, bring cash if you can, and go in for the food -- not the service or atmosphere.

I spent a lot of summer growing up visiting my grandparents in China. Oftentimes after going to the grocery store, I would ask to stop by the Jianbing stand at the store to get one. I loved the crispiness of the 油饼 (crispy dough) inside, which balanced with the rich flavors added by the sauce, crepe, green onion, and egg. I once asked for it with hot sauce, and even though every mouthful was painfully spicy it was so wonderfully good. I haven't been able to visit my family in China in a few years, but I have been looking for places that have Jianbing to fill that nostalgia-craving. Jenny's Kitchen really hits the spot! The Jianbing comes in huge portions with lots of flavors packed inside. Worth eating when it's fresh and hot, the flavors work so much better that way. I also got a chive pancake, which was pretty good as well! The egg with chives and the noodles inside were *chefs kiss* and the flour wrapper is simple but has such good chew. I also got some of the pork and cabbage buns, and even though they're not hot/fresh when you buy them -- they taste so delicious when you reheat them. The inside is a blend between a grocery store and a deli: fridges contain soy milk, side dishes, dumplings, etc., while the shelves have ready made products (like the buns!). They also have a deli-esque section with a multitude of dishes, including assorted Chinese breakfast items as well as full on entree dishes that you can get in a combo box (which they really load up). Having always associated packed/small spaces with good Chinese food, this place certainly hits the mark! Located in an old/abandoned looking strip mall, this place is one you shouldn't pass up! Service was quick and friendly! So nice to hear a blend of Chinese accents as the staff seem to come from different areas of China!

I am a fan! This is a small authentic spot serving some yummy Chinese take out food. I was initially concerned about how to communicate since everyone was only speaking Chinese. Thankfully there were fluent and I picked up a meat pie and a combo. Both were delicious. Food is solid 4 but bumping up to 5 for the service. Both the folks who were working here were so courteous and helpful.

This is my first time and I bought the egg and chives pancake and beef pancake. They're both very good.

How many pork and chive dumplings in a frozen pack and the price?

What region of China is this food from?

I'm pretty sure the owners are from Dongbei. Don't know what the other guy is talking about

    Is this place gluten-free?

No. Like, half of their dishes have flour in them.

Does this place sell party trays and eggrolls?

I did not see eggrolls. I am not sure about party tray. You can call them to ask whether they offer that service. It is not displayed in their store. They just freshly cook and sell box food and frozen dumplings/chinese pankages/Chinese bread, etc.

Can I order food online and get delivered to my door?

    No.

I am basing my review off take out since I don't usually eat there* It's nestled in the plaza off Aborn Rd and White so parking shouldn't be an issue. The inside isn't extremely huge, but there are tables - though there are times when the tables are put out. But if you go up Aborn a bit, there's Evergreen Square where you can sit and enjoy the sun! Definitely call ahead of time if you are doing platters, but they also offer 2-3 item combo plates! Every time I have visited, the staff is pretty kind and get your order out to you as soon as possible. OKAY THE FOOD: * Chow Mein: delicious. you CANNOT go wrong with this item, it's perfectly made and gives the authentic "take out chow mein" taste * Salt and Pepper Pork/ Wings/ Calamari/ Shrimp/ etc.: Literally anything that's salt and pepper, I LOVE. My family and I usually get the salt & pepper pork or wings, depending on what we're feeling. 20/10 would recommend. * Honey Walnut Shrimp/ Chicken: Another all time favorite dish here - they somehow get the shrimp/ chicken crispy despite it being in the sauce. LOVE. * Chicken Green Beans: A classic, but also SO DANG GOOD. Please note that if you are getting an entree, expect your plate to be STUFFED. happy eating! x

Not the same Mayflower that I went to growing up but this place did NOT disappoint…read more We were in the mood for dim sum on the way to the T&T grocery store opening and yelp brought us here. We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!

This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
