Louisiana Seafood Pasta ( Head Off Shrimp And Clams)
    Vy T.

I heard a bit of buzz on Bag O Crab when it opened a few months ago and decided to try it out during lunch time on a Saturday. They have really good lunch special prices for their combos and plates, but the special pricing is only on weekdays. Service was friendly and prompt. It's quite spacious inside. I will be honest and say the food is quite lackluster. The seasoning wasn't really flavorful and it tasted more oily/buttery. I understand there is a lot of butter in seafood boil sauce mixtures, but that was all I tasted here. Food: - Combo 1: Mussels and head-on shrimp with atomic bomb sauce. Combo includes sausages, corn, and potatoes. The mussels had no flavor to them even if they were swimming in all that sauce. - Louisiana Seafood Pasta: It didn't taste that seafood-y. The pasta noodles were cooked al-dente. The sauce tasted like Nissin Cup Noodles Chicken flavor ramen seasoning, not really Louisiana style. Very disappointing, but it had the most flavor compared to combo 1. Unfortunately, I do not see myself revisiting as there are a variety of other seafood boil places in the Bay Area (especially east side SJ).

1/5/2026 Bag O Crab 108 E El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087 Having had a good experience with the fried oysters, I returned to try the seafood boil. I ordered the head on shrimp and clams bag which also came with a small corn on the cob and potato with spicy Cajun sauce. After ordering at the counter my bag was brought to me shortly. All the eating gear is at a station where I got gloves and a bib. Everything was really tasty and quantity was perfect. A good value and I'll repeat.

We really enjoy this restaurant. This is our second time here. First time we were here we had their "bags of seafood", very tasty but messy. So this time we tried shrimp plate and sandwich. Both were really good but we enjoyed the bags much more. The sauce is their secret weapon, we really like the garlic butter and Louisiana. (If you don't like garlic, this may not be the place! Most sauces have lots of garlic) The space is cleaned and bright. Not crowded when we visited. They also offer lunch special from M to F, which is a really good deal.

I was craving a seafood boil but haven't had the best experience until I came here. The service was great, Ben who was working the register in the front was extremely helpful, patient & kind. He helped with the questions that I had regarding the food. I ended up getting the #2 Combo. Not only was the food delicious, the price was very wallet friendly! I loved my experience and I can't wait to try the lobster on my next visit. If you want a delicious & tasteful seafood boil, with great and fast service. I definitely recommend coming here!!

Order the Cajun seasoning it's amazing! Listen, this is a sensory experience like no other. My wife brought me to my first crab boil for my birthday and wow what a ride. You truly immerse yourself in the food, eat with your hands and enjoy everything bite. The service is great and the pricing is very reasonable and portions are easily shared. Be aware you may not need as much as you think because of how much butter is used. The decor could be improved near the windows but you probably won't notice while you devour abalone and shrimp for an hour.

Loved this place! We got the Cajun sauce, with the abalone, shrimp, and crawfish along with two baked oysters. The Cajun sauce was great, and I really enjoyed the whole bag. It came with corn and potato and everything in there was delicious! I can see how it'd be fun to keep coming back and trying new combos of seafood. The oysters were also 10/10

I over did it in Vegas and couldn't face a seafood boil for years. My son wanted to try Bag O Crab that took over Rubio's. We ordered combo 2 with one lb snow crab legs and 3/4 lb shrimp heads off, the heads is what got me years ago. We ordered original Cajun flavor, mild, a box of garlic fries, lemon pepper wings and garlic noodles to go and shared it with the family. It was so good. We have gotten two more to go orders in the last month. The lunch special is the best deal for $15. We also ordered garlic noodles, fries and wings to go with it. The fried oysters and fries are good too. From the bag, the crab legs are what you expect in a crab boil, messy and flavorful. Flavor is Cajun, a kind of cayenne, spicy, peppery, garlicky, paprika, oniony and herbs. Some of the shrimp was just the perfect texture, easy to tear off the tail shrimp, a few of the shrimp was mushy. Sausage was over cooked, corn was delish from the sauce in the bag, so messy. The potatoes in the bag were okay. Garlic noodles are garlicky and a tad overcooked. It's a nice serving in a box. The garlic fries are the best! A big portion in a box, crisp and thin like McDonald's fries but better. Fried oysters - yum, there are very few oysters that I don't like. Wings are lemon pepper. They are good sized and not dried out. Shrimp po boy wasn't a favorite. The bread and shrimp wasn't what we are use to. We called in the order and it's ready when they say. We asked for one lunch bag and good thing we confirmed two orders of wings, two orders of garlic noodles, and one order of garlic fries which of course they had to say, not two. We ordered fried oysters at the counter without calling it in and they let us know it'll take 15 minutes. The place is new and not grimy. Not a lot of employees running around. We ordered to go so we can enjoy eating this delicious messy meal at home. We will definitely be back. There's also a Five guys, Dave's hot chicken, Pizza my heart, Sourdough, Pinkberry and Tastea all in the same area in case anyone in your family/party wants something else.

I've driven by this place a couple of times and got the chance to come in at lunch. When you walk in, there's a kiosk on the side for ordering or you can order with the server. You seat yourself after ordering and there were a good amount of tables inside and outside. I liked how they offered self serve utensils, scissors, gloves, and bibs. They don't have servers coming around to check on you so I definitely liked this option. I got the lunch combo with shrimp, mussels, and 2 potatoes. I got Cajun seasoning and no spice. There were about 6 or 7 shrimps and 6 or 7 mussels so roughly half a pound each. The shrimp quality was inconsistent. Some of the shrimp was mushy and hard to peel. Some of the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The mussels were good but I thought they were rather small. I wish they gave more sauce in the bag! The sauce is pretty thick so it clumped together. It didnt coat the seafood as well in my opinion. I do think this place has potential. I would come back here again but maybe for dinner time. I still left full and satisfied. If they could just fix a few things, I think they will do well.

I am a big fan of this place! It's about time my town gets a seafood boil restaurant. They have a pretty big menu with a variety of different items to choose from such as seafood pasta, chicken wings, and lobster tails. Another unique item that my wife was super happy about was a boiling egg add-on. I thoroughly enjoyed their mussels & shrimp soaked in their Atomic mild sauce. The atomic sauce is basically a blend of each of the sauces all in one. I highly recommend ordering an extra side of their sauce because not only is the sauce delicious but there's not much in the bag itself. I loved their garlic noodles; I thought it had a distinct taste to it which is unique. Also, for the price of about $7, the amount of garlic noodles packed into the box is a such a great bargain. Their lemon pepper wings are tasty and has a nice crispy outer layer to the wings. I will admit, there's not much of the lemon pepper seasoning but nonetheless, the wings themselves are big in portion and worth buying. I paired this with plain white rice while also dipping my wings into the seafood boil atomic sauce. I'd like to thank Phil for treating me and my wife like family. His customer service is excellent overall. He's full of enthusiasm and I can tell he loves his job. This is one of the main reasons why I will come back. This is definitely one of the hottest spots to eat right now in Sunnyvale!

Combo #2: 1 lb King Crab Legs + 1 lb Shrimp ($60.95), Lemon Pepper Wings ($8.95), Garlic Noodles ($7.95), Fries ($5.95), Chowder ($8.95)

Recently, a big corporate chain clawed itself out of bankruptcy. Thanks to their new CEO, they're now popping off after the launch of their seafood boil. People are hyped, tried it, and most said, "it's not good" (to put it nicely). While I haven't tried their new seafood boil, I'm not surprised. IMO, the only thing that hits are the cheddar bay biscuits. If you love seafood boils, are in Silicon Valley, and don't want to trek to San Jo (or Red Lobster): Bag O' Crab. In 2010, Bag O' Crab supposedly started in Oakland (can't find listing tho) and has grown into a franchise with locations in California, Washington, Oregon, and Texas. This is their first Silicon Valley location, opening in early July 2025. They took over Rubio's across from Dave's Hot Chicken. Fast-casual service with food packed in a takeout bag. If you're dining in, let the staff know and they'll line your table with butcher paper. Grab your own paper plates, utensils, crab crackers, scissors, gloves, bibb, floss, etc. Hope they consider providing metal trays so you can pour your boils into. Indoor and outdoor seating. M E N U Viet-Cajun style seafood boil. Seafood available by the pound or as combos w/ corn, potatoes, and sausage. They also have fried apps, wings, po boys, seafood pasta, and more. No alkie but saw another table brought their own wine so BYOB? - Sauces: Cajun, louisiana, garlic butter, lemon pepper, and atomic sauce (all the sauces except louisiana) - Heat: 6 levels from non-spicy to on fire *LUNCH DEALS* - Monday - Friday, 11 am - 3 pm: Seafood Bags w/ choice of two seafood and side for ONLY $14.95. Po boys, seafood pasta, and fried platters are discounted. Combos and sides are cheaper than the spots in San Jo, maybe because of their service model? F O O D * Clam Chowder ($8.95) Thin consistency with finely diced clams and potatoes. It was ok, I should of asked for tabasco. * Lemon Pepper Wings (6 pc - $8.95) For the price, the wings were solid - hot, crunchy, and moist. The lemon pepper seasoning was too mild tho. * Garlic Noodles ($7.95) Love that they use thiccc and chewy, chow mein style noodles. Nice buttery garlic flavor but I prefer the Viet style with the sweet umami of oyster sauce and fish sauce. Large portion for the price. * Combo #2: Snow Crab Legs w/ choice of seafood, potatoes, corn, sausage ($53.95, add 2x sausage = $60.95): https://tinyurl.com/7jy5rhn6 - Choose: Head-on shrimp - Sauce: Atomic - Spice: Medium Fresh, sweet crab meat smothered in a boldly spiced sauce chockful of fresh garlic with a baby kick of heat for medium. The head-on shrimp were a wee bit overcooked and the heads weren't juicy with tomalley. I only tasted the sausages, savory and smoky. * Fries ($5.25) Heaping portion of battered McD style fries. Can't go wrong with this. S E R V I C E Friendly owner and fast service. We received our order in 10 minutes. A M B I A N C E Cute seafood nautical theme with about 10 tables inside and TVs. Four tables outside. P A R K I N G Plentiful, easy parking in the plaza. Overall, for the lower prices, Bag 'O Crab serves up decent Viet Cajun seafood boil and sides (my fav is Claw Shack in San Jo). If you live/work in the Sunnyvale area, def take advantage of their seafood bag lunch deal for only $14.95. Beats a sad desk lunch!

Scamming portions (got less than half, maybe even 1/3 of what i paid for)

Caught them skimping portions again. They wanted to claim that "1/2 shrimp" meant "1/2 of 3/4lb" on the lunch special. Which was never true, we know from experience. And there is no indicator saying "1/2" refers to half of another thing. Thats blatantly obvious. But today, there's no excuses available trying to scam people huh? I got the regular combo 1. 3/4lb of shrimp (12oz, raw im assuming since that gives less than 12oz cooked). 4oz of raw shrimp (of this size) is between 8-9 pieces. Why did I receive A TOTAL OF 9???? That's AT BEST a little over 4oz, not even close 12oz. Even accounting for any variance, it is not even close. My last time here (2 weeks ago) getting this same combo was close to 20 pieces. There is no excuse for this ("oh we weigh it after it has half a lb of butter, that's why!"). Like what is your brain dead excuse now guys? I know your business doesn't get a lot of traffic, and you're financially struggling. But that is not justification to scam people. And let alone trying to be this egregious. You LITERALLY CANT justify one day giving the actual amount (around 20 pieces) and then giving FUCKING 9 PIECES TOTAL. Just stop it.

Located in a plaza so there is ample parking. When you walk inside, you order and pay first then have a seat. They also have touch screen kiosks for ordering if you don't want to speak to an employee. They also ask if you want water cups so you can serve yourself from the self serve station that has fountain soda, water, paper plates, utensils, bibs, scissors, crackers, wet wipes, salt, pepper, floss, and mints. It was pretty warm inside on an early Friday evening with several patrons. They have tvs on playing random sports. Small area for dining maybe 10 tables or less. Our order came shortly after ordering in a to go bag. Everything was packed for take out. Gumbo - flavor was delicious, but had more rice and vegetables than any of the proteins included Cajun fries - thin and crispy, wonderful flavor, came with a small container of ketchup Garlic toast - nice and toasted, regular Texas toast type Garlic noodles - thick, al dente, needed more salt and garlic as it was lacking flavor Combo 1 shrimp and clams - came with 2 potatoes, 2 corn, & 4 pieces of sausage. Ordered atomic sauce (a mixture of all their sauces) mild. The bag didn't come with much sauce. All I could really taste was butter and spice so I'm not sure if they really do add all the different seasonings they advertise. Clams seemed fresh. Shrimp was okay, some of them were very mushy and broke apart easily. Corn was very chewy and sticky. Sausage was delicious. Seems like they skimped out on the amount of shrimp and mussels compared to other Cajun seafood places. I would consider coming back at lunch time for their lunch specials to try the other seafood options.

A water carafe was brought out right after for us. The restaurant is pretty big, airy and clean. There were tables and booths to be seated at and the tables can easily be arranged to accomodate a large group. We ordered the following for 3 people: 1. Seafood pancake: Different batter than other Korean restaurant. Nice crisp and lots of seafood. Accompanied by a soy sauce but I did not dip it as I like to taste the seafood and not overwhelm my taste buds with sauces on the pancakes. 2. Mul naengmyeon (cold noodles): my first try at this and I enjoyed it. Different from what I am used for noodle soup to but its's very good. Savory but light. Lots of noodles were given and not enough protein. I like the slushy icy broth texture. I think it may be the broth itself frozen as by the time we finish eating, it still maintained a savory broth and not water down. Three people shared this and we couldn't finish the noodles itself. 3. Soy sauce marinade crab: This was a pricy dish for 1 crab accompanied by a fancy dish of rice with some fresh and dried seaweed, tobiko and thinly sliced pickled radish. Well prepared as I did not taste or smell the ocean. Flavorful and good though I prefer eating the spicy marinade crab better as I love spices. We did not try the spicy crab here as a friend do not eat spicy. The dishes were all big. We finished the marinade crab but still had some cold noodles and pancake left to go. Services was average as we had ordered a coke and it came out when we asked for it after the food had all come out. Our water carafe was out and we didn't get a refill since we were finish with our food. When we asked for a spicy sauce to add into the cold noodles it was brought out promptly. You'll have to either eat lightly through the day or skip lunch before coming here for dinner as I think the portions are pretty large. Also, be prepare to pay a high bill as for 3 people including a bottle of soju, 1 soda and 15% tip our bill was a a couple dollars shy of $150.

Note that last call is 8:30, so you want to be seated well before that time so you get your money's worth. Also be aware if you have a big group, you get automatically charged gratitude and it does take longer to get seated. It seems like they have a limited amount of bigger tables to accommodate large groups. Even if you have a reservation, don't assume you will be seated at that time. My group ended up being seated 40 mins after the reservation time because they didn't have a table available and the table they were waiting on took a long time to pay and leave. They should really be stricter on the amount of time groups can stay past their allowed time especially if there is another party waiting for the table. The table was long so plenty of room to spread out all your meats, sides and drinks. The seating was terrible though. The benches are not bolted to the ground. I could feel the people behind me as they moved around in their seats and they even pushed the whole bench by pushing backwards. The waitress asked if we were ready to order and since it's a big group we needed to quickly check to make sure everyone was ready. She did not wait for an answer, she said she would give us a couple minutes and left. We didn't see her for another 5 or so minutes. We were able to get 3 rounds of meats (6 plates per round). Water took a little bit to get to the table as they gave us 2 pitchers of water with no cups. The sauce bar has everything you need to make a great sauce, sides (kimchi, rice cakes, bean sprouts) and fruit (strawberries, orange slices, grapes). The conveyor belt was really nice. There was a wide range of options from seafood, noodles and veggies. The items I would get again are the udon noodles, fish cakes, enoki mushrooms, tofu, Napa cabbage and the Australian wagyu beef. I would recommend getting a variety of meats to try.

The tuna was super fresh and the quinoa added a nice texture. The disco fries were super unique and had sweet and salty elements, but it wasn't my favorite dish of the night. The sticky pork shank was super tender and I loved the salads on the side it came with. The sauces were tasty too and complemented the pork well. Since we were celebrating an occasion, we were gifted a mango sticky rice for dessert, which was super nice of Valley Goat! The dessert was one of the best desserts I've had at a restaurant. The coconut foam was perfectly light to go with the sticky rice, and the mango ice cream had great flavor. The watermelon granita also added a fun flavor to round out a perfect bite. If you're looking for a nice dinner, definitely check out Valley Goat! Parking is easy in the attached lot.

This has to be the most overdue review I've ever written. Cap't Loui not only is the best seafood…read moreboil restaurant around but also one of the best restaurants PERIOD. 5 star restaurant that includes 5 star food (shrimp, crawdads, garlic noodles, garlic bread, Cajun fries), 5 star cleanliness, and the most outstanding 5 star service you will ever receive. My wife and I consistently come to Cap't Loui for our beloved Friday date nights at least once a month. We are ALWAYS so impressed with the yummy food (we always get 2lbs shrimp/2lbs crawfish combo in Medium Cap't Loui sauce with garlic noodles, garlic bread, and Cajun fries). Wifey and I are stuffed after this but will cleanse our palate with complimentary popsicles in the freezer by the entrance. So yes, the seafood boil and food is absolutely phenomenal. But even MORE impressive is the generationally excellent customer service, in particular from Aung and Edward. They are true servant leaders and I noticed they take care of each and every patron as if they were family members or royalty. Between the delicious food and the brilliant customer service, you better bet your bottom dollar that my wife and I will continue having our traditional Friday night dates at Cap't Loui!!!!

I've been walking pass their shop many times in Cupertino, a small shop on a clean street next to an underground parking lot. First off, our lunch hour was at 11:45, but by 10:45'sh, food was ready and the catering staff was already working on setting it up. I had fresh salad of tomato and cucumber, seafood boiler with shrimp, and garlic noodle. We ran out of Clam Chowder real quick, so I didn't get to it. The salad was fresh, both tomato and cucumber slices gave this crispy and refreshing taste. Our menu has Seafood Boiler with Shrimp and Veggie Boiler Mix with Fried Tofu, they look like the same sauce, so I chose Shrimp and it was a very wise choice! The sauce was so rich that the shrimps were full of flavors! I am never a fan of peeling shrimps but they are easy to peel, even with my mouth biting them off gently is not that hard. Their garlic noodle is not the same as the Vietnamese kind, it's pasta in garlic sauce, so not the best but acceptable. Overall the shrimps really wow me.

At the end of the meal everyone was satisfied so I imagine this is due to people wanting their meals like mom or grandma used to prepare them. Of note, the meat used was of great quality and there was no excess fat on my Bisteck a la Plancha. The chicha was very good and they did have staple soft drinks like Inka Cola. For dessert, try the Lucuma ice cream. It's my favorite but some people claim it tastes like dirt. I've had a taste of all their desserts by now and they are all worth a try.

I have visited the ine in San Carlos couplecyears a go.The interior is simple and features a full bar. We were the only customers in the restaurant when we arrived, which initially made us wonder if we had made the right choice. The menu offers plenty of variety. For appetizers, we tried the yucca, as well as the chicken and veggie empanadas. These were definitely the highlight--very tasty and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the main courses didn't quite live up to our expectation. While the presentation was nice, the flavor was just "so-so" and didn't leave a lasting impression. Because the entrees were hit-or-miss, I'm not sure I'll be returning.
