I heard a bit of buzz on Bag O Crab when it opened a few months ago and decided to try it out during lunch time on a Saturday. They have really good lunch special prices for their combos and plates, but the special pricing is only on weekdays. Service was friendly and prompt. It's quite spacious inside. I will be honest and say the food is quite lackluster. The seasoning wasn't really flavorful and it tasted more oily/buttery. I understand there is a lot of butter in seafood boil sauce mixtures, but that was all I tasted here. Food: - Combo 1: Mussels and head-on shrimp with atomic bomb sauce. Combo includes sausages, corn, and potatoes. The mussels had no flavor to them even if they were swimming in all that sauce. - Louisiana Seafood Pasta: It didn't taste that seafood-y. The pasta noodles were cooked al-dente. The sauce tasted like Nissin Cup Noodles Chicken flavor ramen seasoning, not really Louisiana style. Very disappointing, but it had the most flavor compared to combo 1. We had such an enjoyable and delicious experience at Bag O' Crab Sunnyvale! The seafood was absolutely flavorful and hit the spot--perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. What really stood out was the staff. They were very nice, welcoming, and attentive, making sure we were taken care of throughout our visit without feeling rushed. We really enjoy this restaurant. This is our second time here. First time we were here we had their "bags of seafood", very tasty but messy. So this time we tried shrimp plate and sandwich. Both were really good but we enjoyed the bags much more. The sauce is their secret weapon, we really like the garlic butter and Louisiana. (If you don't like garlic, this may not be the place! I over did it in Vegas and couldn't face a seafood boil for years. My son wanted to try Bag O Crab that took over Rubio's. We ordered combo 2 with one lb snow crab legs and 3/4 lb shrimp heads off, the heads is what got me years ago. We ordered original Cajun flavor, mild, a box of garlic fries, lemon pepper wings and garlic noodles to go and shared it with the family. It was so good. We have gotten two more to go orders in the last month. The lunch special is the best deal for $15. We also ordered garlic noodles, fries and wings to go with it. The fried oysters and fries are good too. From the bag, the crab legs are what you expect in a crab boil, messy and flavorful. Flavor is Cajun, a kind of cayenne, spicy, peppery, garlicky, paprika, oniony and herbs. Some of the shrimp was just the perfect texture, easy to tear off the tail shrimp, a few of the shrimp was mushy. Sausage was over cooked, corn was delish from the sauce in the bag, so messy. The potatoes in the bag were okay. Garlic noodles are garlicky and a tad overcooked. It's a nice serving in a box. The garlic fries are the best! A big portion in a box, crisp and thin like McDonald's fries but better. Fried oysters - yum, there are very few oysters that I don't like. Wings are lemon pepper. They are good sized and not dried out. Shrimp po boy wasn't a favorite. The bread and shrimp wasn't what we are use to. We called in the order and it's ready when they say. We asked for one lunch bag and good thing we confirmed two orders of wings, two orders of garlic noodles, and one order of garlic fries which of course they had to say, not two. We ordered fried oysters at the counter without calling it in and they let us know it'll take 15 minutes. The place is new and not grimy. Not a lot of employees running around. We ordered to go so we can enjoy eating this delicious messy meal at home. We will definitely be back. I've driven by this place a couple of times and got the chance to come in at lunch. When you walk in, there's a kiosk on the side for ordering or you can order with the server. You seat yourself after ordering and there were a good amount of tables inside and outside. I liked how they offered self serve utensils, scissors, gloves, and bibs. They don't have servers coming around to check on you so I definitely liked this option. I got the lunch combo with shrimp, mussels, and 2 potatoes. I got Cajun seasoning and no spice. There were about 6 or 7 shrimps and 6 or 7 mussels so roughly half a pound each. The shrimp quality was inconsistent. Some of the shrimp was mushy and hard to peel. Some of the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The mussels were good but I thought they were rather small. I wish they gave more sauce in the bag! The sauce is pretty thick so it clumped together. It didnt coat the seafood as well in my opinion. I do think this place has potential. I would come back here again but maybe for dinner time. I still left full and satisfied. I am a big fan of this place! It's about time my town gets a seafood boil restaurant. They have a pretty big menu with a variety of different items to choose from such as seafood pasta, chicken wings, and lobster tails. Another unique item that my wife was super happy about was a boiling egg add-on. I thoroughly enjoyed their mussels & shrimp soaked in their Atomic mild sauce. The atomic sauce is basically a blend of each of the sauces all in one. I highly recommend ordering an extra side of their sauce because not only is the sauce delicious but there's not much in the bag itself. I loved their garlic noodles; I thought it had a distinct taste to it which is unique. Also, for the price of about $7, the amount of garlic noodles packed into the box is a such a great bargain. Their lemon pepper wings are tasty and has a nice crispy outer layer to the wings. I will admit, there's not much of the lemon pepper seasoning but nonetheless, the wings themselves are big in portion and worth buying. I paired this with plain white rice while also dipping my wings into the seafood boil atomic sauce. I'd like to thank Phil for treating me and my wife like family. His customer service is excellent overall. He's full of enthusiasm and I can tell he loves his job. This is one of the main reasons why I will come back. Recently, a big corporate chain clawed itself out of bankruptcy. Thanks to their new CEO, they're now popping off after the launch of their seafood boil. People are hyped, tried it, and most said, "it's not good" (to put it nicely). While I haven't tried their new seafood boil, I'm not surprised. My husband got a lobster roll, I got a lunch special with shrimp and snow crab legs, and we shared the garlic noodles. I got the lowest level of spice on mine and the seafood was perfect, but the corn was spicy enough to make my nose run. I'm weak!! They also have touch screen kiosks for ordering if you don't want to speak to an employee. They also ask if you want water cups so you can serve yourself from the self serve station that has fountain soda, water, paper plates, utensils, bibs, scissors, crackers, wet wipes, salt, pepper, floss, and mints. We have been waiting months for Bag O Crab to open, and it was worth the wait! This place was solid, highly recommend. The decor is bright with the ubiquitous nautical-themed decor, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Ordered a little bit of everything: Gumbo & clam chowder: Both were tasty and flavorful. Would like to get just a tad few extra grains of rice in the gumbo. The clam chowder was not very thick but was chock full of clams and flavor. Would recommend having Tabasco sauce available, but we drizzled some of the sauces from the crab boil and it did the trick. Garlic noodles: Nicely done, great garlic flavor without being overpowering. Lemon Pepper Wings: Crispy and delightfully lemony. My friends talk about bag o crab all the time, so I decided to visit and see what the buzz was about. My friend suggested that I got the atomic flavor (mixture of all their flavors), medium hot. I ordered a pound of krawfish, half a pound of shrimp, a side of sausages (6), rice, and a modelo and the total came out to just about $48 after tax and tip. It was the perfect amount of food for me, and I definitely left full. The flavor definitely had that seafood Cajun taste, which was something I was expecting and hoping for. I consider myself to have a pretty decent spice tolerance and I was SWEATIN while having my meal. They have scissors, wet wipes, gloves, bibs, and more nearby the soda fountain which was convenient. I changed gloves halfway and noticed some of the oil had seeped through my first pair of gloves (maybe I'm just a messy eater). Aside from the food, I feel like the music could have been louder. I ate by myself and people's conversations were all I could hear. I don't mind, but just a suggestion. Plus music adds to the ambiance and vibe. Overall, I'd definitely come back again next time I'm craving Cajun seafood boil. For a Friday night, it wasn't too busy like you might find at boiling crab. This is a comparison review, Ive been to the San Leandro one maybe 3times, both were excellent. This location however was a huge miss. The food is not as good, and service slightly lacking. the girl who took my order does not have great service skills. i watched two other FOH servers stay friendly and attentive to the rest of the guests. Whoever it was who rang me up, repeated the order back to me wrong so I had to go over it again with her multiple times, i wanted head off. Took her a while to get it right, unsure if she sent the ticket to the kitchen in advance, because when it came out, the boil was cold and had shrimp head on still. My bf told me to send it back but since I helped her ring it up myself (I had to punch it in on the tablet because she just did not hear it correctly) I know it is not her fault. must have been a kitchen issue. The rest of the time though, I increasingly hated the food. I watched 2 good servers refill water and check in on guests, our table did not get that service. I continued to watch our server mess up and give bags to the wrong tables, they sent us a drink that wasnt ours. Her work was chaotic almost. I didnt think they were short staffed, maybe it was her first day idk. because if the food was any where comparable to San Leandro i would justify it due to the drive alone. A new seafood boil restaurant that is pretty darn tasty. My friend and I decided to check this place out, and stray from our usual Boiling Crab. We got there are at 5, and it was empty but quickly filled up. We did our standard order: lemon pepper wings, cajun fries, shrimp/corn/potatoes/sausage. Here you order first, then find a table to sit down. They don't give you any sort of buzzer or instructions so I was wondering how the waiters would know your order if it's busy. Anyhow, our food came out pretty quick. This is where I noticed there is a lot of trash here and no recycling. They put our food in all to go containers, in a semi insulated bag. Even the fries and wings were in separate boxes, which would be trashed. Yes, it's easier clean up, but not as great for the environment. Food review: -Lemon pepper wings were a tad too lemony -Cajun fries were good -Milk cajun season was more like a medium, so be careful when ordering. I was so excited to see this location open down the street from me! I love the Bag o Crab location in San Leandro- I used to live in SL and would go there pretty often. The self order kiosk threw me off a bit but was easy to use and loved how everything was self serve from the condiments to utensils and everything. Never seen this at a seafood boil place before so bonus points for uniqueness! I got shrimp head on with sausage, corn and boiled egg, cajun fries, and garlic noodles. Everything came out piping hot and pretty fast. I think my only critique would be the flavor of everything. It was good, but things could have more flavor or seasoning (ex: more garlic flavor in garlic noodles and more cajun spice on the fries). The sauce I got was atomic and medium spice. It wasn't spicy but it wasn't mild so it was good but the sauce needed to be more saucy.... a lot of it was just oil in the bag and would have loved for it to be a bit thicker. Overall, I really like the space and how open it was. I gave my rating a 3.5ish mostly for the flavor and sauce aspect. Enjoyed a send-off casual dinner here for my daughter's college departure, and the messiness of eating out of a bag was so fun! Everyone's favorite was lemon pepper chicken wings, which was incredibly tasty, crispy and hot. Sweet potato fries was excellent, however, there's no need to coat it with sugar IMO as it is sweet enough. I had to shake it off for my diet. The seafood boil was good, just a bit flavorless. I liked shrimp and octopus. You'll get a bunch of amenities such as bib, wet wipe, floss and gloves, to help eat seafood. It was utterly thoughtful. Table's clean, place's new and well maintained. Seafood themed decor, bright, inviting and captivating. Service was very friendly and professional. The girl working there was sweet and polite. I recommend garlic noodle, fries and chicken wings, might try other seafood boil with a different spice level next time. Strongly recommend it even if you don't like seafood. read more

Bag o Crab is the best deal in town, and fun too. My first experience of Cajun seafood boil and it's a winner! The $15 lunch deal is an insanely good deal: a huge bag of tasty seafood in tasty, spicy sauce, I strongly recommend adding the corn as the free side. You have to be ok with getting your hands a bit messy (bib and napkins provided), but it's a feast by any standards. read more
