We arrived for dinner and were seated right away. Due to my gluten allergy I told the server I can't have anything that has soy sauce. He informed me they have gluten free soy sauce and that totally made my night. Things have been a bit stressful due to moving and we have to resort to eating out the last few nights, including one night that I got sick from cross contamination. So being taken care of in this way felt incredible. We ordered the garlic chicken and eggplant combo. I almost ordered a tofu dish but the server told me that it is very similar to the eggplant dish and I'm glad that he did as we love variety. Came in for lunch. Honestly this place wasn't very good at all. The place felt somewhat rundown with old chairs, sticky table cloths, and old carpet. I jokingly said to my friend that it reminded me of a furniture store. I ordered the lunch combo which included a salad and entrée. The entrée wasn't even that good, and it hurts to say that Panda Express tasted better than this place (I hate Panda Express). The salad that came on the side was very tiny and somehow tasted old? It was powdery nonetheless. Service wasn't that great either, we had to ask for our menus and ask for cold water. Held a family memorial service banquet here and couldn't be more pleased with the results. The owner, Steven, was very friendly and accommodating, making all of the planning seamless. Banquet pricing is up-front with several menu options. Note that an automatic 20% tip is added, and a $10 per table corkage fee if you bring your own non-alcoholic drinks. The private banquet room we used was beautiful and spacious for our 60+ guests. I forgot to take pictures of the food as I was busy coordinating and running the event. But everything was, as one guest put it, "great in quality and quantity!" This restaurant has been around for decades, but it's not close to my home so we did not discover it until I came to a dinner here recently! Sorry for us! Came here for weekend brunch on Father's Day! Got our dimsum fix and salty soymilk. The fresh pan friend chive buns were delicious as well! Was made fresh this morning. The staffs were all very nice! We dropped by during Thanksgiving holiday last year. I felt the previous scale of operation has been decreased. Upon entry, although they were polite, they gave us a take-out menu to look at. We got dim sums. Surprisingly they were quite good, authentic and tasty, though varieties were limited. There was only one dim sum cart and one worker serving on it. The whole set-up was lackadaisical. They have other choices in the menu but we didn't try. Service was friendly and I really liked our server. The whole place was not too busy. Of course, half the restaurant was reserved for the event, and there were a couple of tables filled on the other half. On weekend mornings, they serve a comprehensive dim sum menu. We ordered chicken feet, baozi, salty soybean milk, beef roll pancakes, and dumplings. The food came out relatively quickly, all warm. The chicken feet were soft and flavorful, the baozi were large and warm, and the salty soybean milk was appetizing and comforting. The beef roll pancakes had flaky skin with tender meat, and the dumplings were stuffed with savory filling. The service was really quick, and the rapid service and authentic dishes of China Stix makes it a reliable restaurant for dim sum. My late husband and I used to go here often as the food is delicious and the prices are fair. The service is good as well and the inside is comfortable and fairly quiet. When the 2 year period was approaching of my husband's passing, I had to order some of his favorite items from here, General Chicken and Marnies Chicken. This place has always been solid, but the Dim Sum lunch is much better than dinner. Service is exactly what you would expect, not great, but not rude, just a little slow. The dishes are all on point, save for the peking duck. Flavor is good, but they always seem to have anemic ducks that are just a little too small, but even then the flavor and crispy texture is perfect. This is a Northern China restaurant that have been around for 15 plus years . Their dim sum lunch has been very popular. We went tiger for dinner on Sunday . Their business have gone down a lot . I was surprised that they only have to go menu and not the nice Chinese menu book. We have ordered seafood ( stir fried vegetables with giant scallop and prawn ) , beef ( scallion beef ) and pork ( salt and pepper spare ribs ) . The seafood and beef were good but the spare rib was too sticky and salty . The service was good and the waiter was very attentive. Price is very good compared to most restaurants in that area . They did not add 18 % tips on the bill . We would definitely return for more dishes . P.S. their Peking duck was good but needs 6-8 people to finish that . This time we only had 4 person . read more

The service is wonderful. I have been eating here since they opened in the 80's. I no longer need the menu and even eaten my way through the Chinese menu. My children were literally born eating here and now when they return home it's their #1 place to eat out at!! My favorite: chicken feet, sesame balls, tofu roll, cucumber salad, fish lettuce cup, snow pea leaves, kangkung, lobster with ginger and onion, sizzling beef, to name just a few. After all those dinners and take out, I discovered that there is a lunch men! It includes all the staples : broccoli and beef, sweet and sour chicken, I had the Kung Pao chicken. I loveee the orange chicken here! Definitely try it out if you are in Santa Clara area. My second favorite dish would be the honey pecan prawns. We tried kung pao chicken, it doesn't have a spicy kick to it so kinda disappointed on this one. We have been eating at China Stix since the mid -1980's. The quality of their dishes are consistently delicious. I especially love the Honey Pecan Prawns.
